Those that are most authoritative are often subject to subscription, which limits their availability. Now a reputable resource is available to all. Stanford University has established a subscription-free philosophy site on which all submissions are subject to peer review. That means that the subject matter will be defensible and verifiable using other resources. In addition, each entry is supported by an extensive bibliography to facilitate further studies. The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy (SEP), is funded by the university and by grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities and private foundations. Conceived in 1995, the encyclopedia has been online since 1997. Its standard is enhanced by its dynamic nature, which allows newly added material to be automatically cross-referenced to related material that has already been posted. Each entry begins with a synopsis of the content, followed by an outline and then the substantive text. The outline uses hypertext to link to the starting point of each section. At the end of each entry, in addition to the bibliography, is a list of related Internet resources, followed by hypertext links to related subjects within the encyclopedia. Accordingly, research can be continued either in the encyclopedia or on the Internet. Access to the encyclopedia is gained through the use of a simple search box. Advanced searches are available, including a specialized Google search. A print feature allows any entry to be printed as a PDF file, fully formatted with footnotes and references. Perhaps indicative of its acceptance is the number of hits the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy regularly receives. Present hits average 690,000 per week.

Everyone has a philosophy of life whether they realize it or not. This philosophy was largely instilled into your mind when you were a child and is unlikely to be something that you stopped to weigh up as it was going in. The bulk of your philosophy of life is formed in the first seven years of your childhood. Then you have another influential period between the mid teens into the early twenties. From that point on most people make little change until they are 40 or 50 plus when some people will start to reassess their philosophy. This philosophy is part of your subconscious processing that influences every decision you make, every action you take and consequently every outcome you experience. In many ways it is preprogramming your life. So where does this philosophy generally come from? The Culture You Live in A major influencing factor on your philosophy is the culture that you live in, and in particular the culture that you grew up in. If you were born and raised in India, for example, you would probably develop a very different philosophy of life then if you grew up in the USA, or Mexico, or Iran, or Japan. Every culture has certain cultural norms that seep into the subconscious mind of the people who live in that culture. There are certain behaviors that are considered normal and others that are considered undesirable. What falls into the normal category in one culture may well be placed into the undesirable category in another culture. Spend a little time reflecting on how much of what you consider normal has actually been passed down to you by the culture that you live in or grew up in. Your Family Upbringing Every family has its own culture and philosophy and everyone growing up within that family is subtly (or sometimes not so subtly) brainwashed to some degree by that family philosophy. If you reject that philosophy and choose to walk a different path then you are likely to be considered, by your family, to be a bit weird. Your family's culture may be similar to the general culture of the country but, particularly if your family originated in another country, or another language group, or a minority religion, your family culture may be very different to that of the general culture around you. These clashes in culture can lead to confusion or in extreme cases even to psychological problems, as you try to reconcile the two conflicting cultural pressures, Spend a little time asking yourself how much of your philosophy on life comes from your family culture. Your Religious Upbringing (if any) If you had a strong religious upbringing then the philosophy of that religion will have entered into your subconscious mind to be mixed into and somehow reconciled with the other philosophical influences. Generally a person's religion is largely a factor of where they were born, or where their ancestral family was born, rather than a conscious choice that they made themselves. Your Education The role of the formal education system is to produce good citizens. In order to do this it will be filled with the subtle messages of what philosophy the educational institute or government has decided will produce the best citizens. The history, for example, that you learn in school is far more likely to relate to the country where the school is situated than it is to the world at large. The underlying philosophy from your schooling may vary depending on whether it is a government school, a religious school, or one of the alternate schooling systems. Each one has their own barrow to push. Your Social Culture You will mix in certain social groups and those social groups tend to hold together because the group members have a similar philosophy on life. Therefore that group is constantly subconsciously reinforcing that philosophy. If you move into a social group that has a different philosophy to your own then the power of the group philosophy will draw your philosophy toward it. Concluding Remarks Your philosophy of life is part of your subconscious mind and is very influential on the path that your life is following. However, most of this philosophy was probably formed without you consciously weighing up whether or not it would enhance your life. Title: Chrysler Launches ‘new Day’ Philosophy

After a tragic marriage with German parent Daimler AG, Chrysler LLC assented to a divorce to go solo. But the Auburn Hills automaker does not want to sport a mediocre performance as a free-willed single. As such, it will be entertaining a change of heart and pave the way for a new philosophy.
‘New Day’ – that will be the fresh philosophy of the automaker. And to sport such philosophy, the American automaker will be delivering exciting auto lures. In February, Chrysler will begin offering new packages and features on 12 of its vehicles as it launches a new marketing campaign dubbed a "New Day Celebration,” said Deborah Meyer, Chrysler vice president and chief marketing officer.
Chrysler said that the campaign is being driven by feedback from customers and dealers and illustrates how quickly the company is moving to make improvements. "We're bringing a 'New Day' philosophy to all of our brands," Meyer said during a speech Wednesday at the Automotive News World Congress.
Chrysler is the first major American automaker to be privately held in over five decades. Its marriage with Daimler was described a match made in heaven. But it proved otherwise. The automaker lost billions of dollars in the past couple of years. Additionally, the company suffered the whip of declining sales in the U.S.
To cope, part of the plan is to standardize some auto features. John Schenden of Pro Chrysler Jeep in Denver said that he is excited about the campaign. "It's what the customers have been asking for," he said. "It's the type of vehicle equipment-wise that most" of the "customers are looking for."
While the automaker is silent which vehicles will be part of the new campaign, Meyer said that Chrysler's popular Stow 'n' Go feature will come with the entry-level Dodge Grand Caravan SE.
“The Dodge Charger also will see some higher-end content, the SE Plus model will get a 3.5-liter V6 engine and 17-inch wheels. We're also responding to customers who have asked for more subtle colors by offering a new 'cool vanilla' shade," Meyer told the Detroit Free Press. "This all adds to the appeal of the Charger."
“The campaign deals with 56 features or value packages,” she added. “They will be permanent packages. We're changing lineups to address the needs that our dealers and customers said they have. To bring more value - quickly - to them."
Meyer, in her speech, noted that Chrysler quickly responded to dealer concerns that the engine lineup for the Dodge Journey, which is being launched this spring, was too complex. Also, the maker of reliable Jeep parts confirmed that the Compass and Patriot would see dramatic interior upgrades this year. "A lot of these are the basics, but we're moving really fast to do it, faster than I've ever seen an OEM move," Meyer said.
Chrysler is going to launch a customer advisory board, which according to Meyer will allow customers to respond to survey questions and have a voice in upcoming products.

Several great ideas have to be understood, in order to grasp properly the workings of the Vedanta philosophy. In the first place it is not philosophy in the sense we speak of the philosophy of Kant and Hegel.It is not one book,or the work of one man. Vedanta is the name of a series of books written at different times. Sometimes in one of these productions there will be fifty different things. Neither are they properly arranged; the thoughts, as it were, have been jotted down.
Sometimes in the midst of other extraneous things, we find some wonderful idea. But one fact is remarkable,that these ideas in the Upanishads would be always progressing. In that crude old language, the working of the mind of every one of the sages has been, as it were, painted just as it went; how the ideas are at first very crude, and they become finer and finer till they reach the goal of the Vedanta, and this goal assumes a philosophical name. Just at first it was a search after the Devas, the bright ones, and then it was the origin of the universe, and the very same search is getting another name,more philosophical, clearer -- the unity of all things --"Knowing which everything else becomes known."
The Vedanta philosophy,as it is generally called at the present day,really comprises all the various sects that now exist in India. Thus there have been various interpretations, and to my mind they have been progressive, beginning with the dualistic or Dvaita and ending with the non - dualistic or Advaita. The word Vedanta literally means the end of the Vedas -- the Vedas being the scriptures of the Hindus.*
Sometimes in the West by the Vedas are meant only the hymns and rituals of the Vedas. But at the present time these parts have almost gone out of use, and usually by the word Vedas in India, the Vedanta is meant. All our commentators, when they want to quote a passage from the scriptures,as a rule, quote from the Vedanta,which has another technical name with the commentators -- the Shrutis**. Now, all the books known by the name of the Vedanta were not entirely written after the ritualistic portions of the Vedas. For instance,one of them -- the Isha Upanishad -- forms the fortieth chapter of the Yajur - Veda, that being one of the oldest parts of the Vedas. There are other Upanishads*** which form portions.
