Speed is everything when it comes to trade and commerce. You might have the best ice cream sundae in the world, but if it takes you an hour to make it and another hour to deliver it, you've lost a lot of potential customers. In our field of editorial stock photography, the same holds true. Independent stock photographers have historically been the David attempting to battle with the Goliath. The advent of large conglomerates in our industry (I can think of five of them) has sent a chill through the world of stock photo photographers. "Will I be shouldered out into the cold?" many independents ask. The answer might have been "Yes" if the question were asked fifteen years ago. Back then the technology to compete would have cost the average independent photography business $150,000 to $300,000. "Out of the question," you would have said then. Today, it's very different. We are seeing the cost of hardware and software, and related services, dropping dramatically. The equivalent technology today is in the range of $4,000 to $10,000. A small business today, armed with the correct hardware and software, can effectively compete with the stock agency conglomerates. YOUR ADVANTAGE You have two areas to your advantage: speed and price. Any traditional conglomerate is bogged down with costly dinosaur-like administration. And paradoxically, this administration adds to the price of their product. In contrast, when photobuyers deal with you, they deal directly. No middleman is involved, further reducing the per-photo fee to the buyer. If the aggregate stock photo collections of independent individual photographers totals more than 450,000,000 photos, why don't more photobuyers today use independent photographers rather than the large stock agencies? Because we're not quite there yet. Not enough photographers are knowledgeable about what's called "eCommerce." Photobuyers are not ready to abandon traditional shopping behavior. And without a built-in network to jump aboard, independents find themselves floating aimlessly in cyberspace. Such a network is taking shape, however, on the Internet. Daily, more and more photo researchers are finding that by using the Web, they can eliminate costly hours of searching for "just-right" images. They can also save money by buying directly from the source (you). HAPPY CUSTOMERS Using Amazon.com, the cyber bookseller, as an example, we can draw a parallel to this situation. Amazon.com is not a book publisher, (not yet, at least) but a go-between for booksellers and people who shop via the Internet. Amazon.com fulfills orders and receives a percentage of the revenue for its work. But Amazon.com, given the present state of the Internet, does nothing different than what book publishers could also do themselves -- thus reducing delivery time and eliminating commissions to Amazon.com. This would make customers happy. Search systems on the Internet now allow customers to find what they're looking for in a matter of seconds. Common sense tells us, for example, there's no need to go through a middleman to find a book, if you can find it on the Web directly through the publisher. This eliminates both the sales unit and the distributor entirely. No doubt in the near future, publishers will set up their own cyber mall Internet service and supply customers with their products directly. The technology is there. Can you see the parallel here? In the near future, savvy photo researchers will not need the handholding from one of the conglomerates to find their photos. Using the increasing power of the Internet, the researchers will go swiftly to the source of the image (the photographer) and deal directly with the source (you) for delivery of the product. Mitch Kezar, a Minneapolis-based photographer with a specialty in outdoors, especially hunting dogs, fishing, and winter sports, is one of the pioneers who are proving that this way of doing business is about to explode on the scene. He is already successful at it with a number of his clients. He's currently busy expanding, scanning 12,000 hunting/fishing/outdoor images to put up for sale on the Internet. "Our site uses a keyword searchable data base to guide buyers through. First they can review thumbnail-size images, then by clicking on them they can see a 5x7 image they can drag to a shopping basket. Which, then, of course, can be emailed or called in to my office. We then ship the buyer the slide they want FedEx, or if they want a digitized image we scan the photo at a high res and digitally fulfill the request, or send straight digital images. "We've polled about 200 customers, who have shown great interest in being able to call up exactly what they're looking for, from someone who knows the difference between a flushing dog and a retrieving dog, or a slip sinker from spinning bait. "Our clients have lamented to us about experiences with calling large photo agencies for such niche-market images, only to find themselves wading through 300 pulled images, all of them wrong content." Such efficiency as what Mitch offers will appeal to everyone in the photo buying community. And individual stock photographers will find themselves sought after.

Title: Important factors to look for in one''s eCommerce Web Host
|
|
First step for creating an ecommerce website for one’s e-business is choosing an ecommerce web host. The services that ones ecommerce web host make available, can either empower or limit the functionality and efficiency of ones ecommerce business, so the selection of ones ecommerce web host is very important. Reliability and stability of ecommerce web host's is also of great concern because ones ecommerce website is as trustworthy and sustainable as his/her ecommerce web host and the servers on which they host their ecommerce website. One of the most important factor one should consider in choosing his/her ecommerce web hosts is the prolonged existence or longevity and consistency or reliability of the company one chooses to host his/her ecommerce website. As these days there are many people practicing internet-related business opportunities, in which some are unreliable ventures who really don't spend the time or money to ensure that their ecommerce web host services are first-class, that’s why longevity, the amount of time that the ecommerce web host has been in business is really important. Many times ecommerce web host launches their business, using second-rate equipment and provides poor service as a result they lose their clients. In an internet business, losing ones ecommerce web host and the resources associated with it is the greatest setback. Evidently, one can have a backup of his/her website to re- launch with a new ecommerce web host, if his webhost goes out of business without prior notice and simply vanishes. Nevertheless, one will eventually be spending a lot of time and sometimes a lot of money on website development and little changes that are made here and there for website's functionality may not always be backed up. One should depend upon his/her ecommerce web host to backup his/her website regularly. In the selection of an ecommerce web host, reliability is another major factor. Website downtime results in lost traffic and lost sales, Internet business owners must recognize this. Most Truly reliable ecommerce web hosts guaranty at least 99% uptime. One should pay attention to what their ecommerce web host's policies and practices are, in respect to uptime, disaster recovery, backup procedures, and downtime prevention. Most reliable ecommerce web hosts are the one, who uses automated backup solutions to backup their servers regularly to an offsite server or to a mirror server which actually provides real-time backups. Mirrored servers are located in a different geographic area so natural disasters do not affect their ecommerce web host clients. The mirror server can kick in and continue web hosting without interruption, when one server goes down or needs maintenance. Mirrored servers are being used by, extremely reliable ecommerce web hosts. Because of the expense associated with providing such reliable ecommerce web host services, it is not easy to find these ecommerce web host providers. One will have to pay a higher price for his/her ecommerce web hosting if he/she finds such an ecommerce web host provider. Free ecommerce web host services as well as services offered by an internet service provider should be avoided. Although a high-quality ecommerce web host will not be cheap, but reliability is well worth what one will pay for it. The actual web hosting packages, that are available and the probability of the ecommerce web host, to provide one with automated ecommerce solutions, are the things to be considered, other than longevity and reliability, with respect to his/her ecommerce web host. Apart from scripts, control panels, software, technical support, FTP access, email services, and access to server logs and activity reports. Security, speed and space provided by ones ecommerce web hosts servers are also very important. Webhosting can take a lot of your attention unless your webhost gives you good uptime and prompt support. Hostgator is one of the best web hosts in the hosting coupons lists where you can host your website and blogs and also get upto 20% discount

Title: Ecommerce ‘peeves'' and ‘must haves'' - boost those conversion rates.
|
|
Customer loyalty is going to make or break an ecommerce business. After you have attracted visitors to your website, how will you persuade them to buy? After that, how will you keep them coming back? A good start would be a well thought out ecommerce website design . But it needs to be backed up with excellent customer service and internal efficiency. Web shoppers are a fickle bunch; annoy them or make them wait and they’ll be gone before you know it. So let’s start with my list of ecommerce peeves: the annoying things that will turn your customers away. 1. Flash intros and slow loaders – anything that delays the process of the consumer getting to the products quickly is a disaster for an ecommerce website. A flash intro might look ‘cool’ to you but it only serves to frustrate the user. Slow loading sites are also a big no no, not only does the shopper not want to wait but it brings into question the efficiency of the whole company; “will my order take this long to arrive too?” 2. Access denied! – Some websites require that you download software to gain access to the site or they will deny access if you have set your browser not to use cookies. (Cookies are small files on a computer that track info about the visitor; some people choose to disable them). It is a big mistake to arrogantly demand that the visitor meet your needs in order to buy from you and you will simply lose their business. 3. Registration log on pages – Web shoppers will not take kindly to being asked to register to gain access to the content of a website. Why would you want to sign up to something you haven’t even seen yet? Don’t make people register before they have even seen what you have to offer; they won’t bother. 4. Pop ups and flashy visuals – A web shopper likes to feel in control of what they are viewing. Pop ups, blinking and bouncing graphics are just annoying extras that they cannot control; they just get in the way of them browsing the products. A lot of people have disabled pop ups anyway, so if you have something important to say then find another way of displaying your message. 5. Annoying music – just annoying really. (Especially if you can’t turn it off and your boss is just walking past your desk!!) 6. Out of stock - Don’t wait till the checkout to tell your customer that the product is out of stock! Tell them before they put it into the shopping basket. 7. Another stock peeve – Fair enough to run out of stock at some point, but don’t send your customers a flyer in the post advertising products that are out of stock once they get to the website. 8. Ineffective search function – If you are going to put a site search function on your website, be sure that it works! 9. Confusing navigation – Ever got lost on a complicated and badly planned website, with no hope of return? Keep it plain and simple, a few clicks to get the customer to the desired item is best. Don’t hide things in pages of unrelated products 10. Hidden prices and costs – Don’t hide prices and costs until the check out page in the hope that the customer will just go ahead and buy anyway. Unexpected delivery charges sprung at the last minute will not go down well; people don’t like to be tricked. 11. Dead links – Links that don’t take you anywhere or come up with ‘page cannot be displayed’ will reduce the user’s confidence in the website you’re your company. They will more than likely give up and move on. 12. Slow delivery – Don’t send your customers order by snail mail, you will ruin their shopping experience; you can’t entice someone to order something and then fail them at the final hurdle by asking them to wait 10 days for it. I guarantee they won’t come back to your website again. 13. False advertising – Don’t advertise ‘Next Day delivery’ if you can’t guarantee it, people order for next day delivery for a reason – They actually need it the next day! If you want to read the rest of this article and find out what the 'must haves' are then go to this design blog

Title: Ecommerce Plano - All You Need To Know About Ecommerce
|
|
What is ecommerce? Did you know that giving online shoppers a trouble free experience is the most important achievement required of good ecommerce design? The easiest way to make your online venture the best ecommerce site is to put yourself in the customers' shoes and ask yourself "what features would I look for?" If you are like many people who are interested in developing an Internet based business, you need to understand the different phases and steps associated with the development of ecommerce activities. The competition on the internet is now fierce and retailers know that their ecommerce design has to be a superior polished product which keeps with their brand's offline perception. That is why developers are constantly figuring out new ways to deliver ecommerce designs using specialized ecommerce architecture, according to what they view as their customers' demands, to improve sales. Some of the most basic features that will make your ecommerce site a hot favorite are: Flexible payment options - the best ecommerce site would offer a range of payment options. Among those available today are, credit card, debit card, online payments, e-check, etc. Highly navigable website - the best ecommerce site will be user friendly, meaning it would be easily navigable by even a novice computer user. If your website has too many puzzling and technical features, it will drive away the new Internet users (who are in the millions today). Uploading time - the best ecommerce site will be uploaded fast. Large pictures and animations will take too long for old version computers and software to load. If you force your customer to wait for more than 45 seconds for a page to upload, they will abandon your site. Shopping Convenience - People shop on the Internet for convenience, so make sure your ecommerce site allows that. Make their shopping experience fun, easy and fast and you will be on your way to owning the best ecommerce site. Why Do You Need a Professional Ecommerce Firm? Even if you know a bit about web design, it's probably a good idea to get a professional to create your ecommerce web site for you. Ecommerce web hosting, provides a business web site with special tools for doing business over the internet. Features such as extended data storage, monthly data transfers, security certificates, and complex databases are required to make a business web site run smoothly. High data capacities allow for the sheer size of a business site, and the enormous exchange of information involved. Security certificates make the site safe for monetary transactions. Databases such as SQL keep track of individual accounts, purchases, inventory, or any transaction. The ecommerce shopping cart allows the customer to select items and then purchase them at a virtual checkout stand, usually with several payment method options, such as credit cards and PayPal. Businesses require skilled personnel to implement and monitor these special tools for marketing goods or services on-line. There are many ecommerce web hosting firms that meet these and other special needs for a successful ecommerce solution.

Title: How to Promote Your Ecommerce Site
|
|
Thousands of internet entrepreneurs are getting into the business of finding their own ecommerce niche. As the ecommerce industry is growing faster then ever the internet's tools, search engines, and business ventures are becoming more advanced, widespread, as well as technical for those who own online businesses. In order to have a successful ecommerce business venture though, the one factor that will have to be devoted to probably more than the others is ecommerce promotion. Many people don't realize the value of promoting their online ecommerce business, but this is one of the largest areas that the ecommerce industry needs and what many people seek to do successfully. Pay Per Click Advertising As far as going about promoting your ecommerce store or other business venture, there are many way to go about this form of advertising. The first form of advertising that is abundant throughout all of the World Wide Web is pay per click programs. An example of these types of programs would be Google's Adsense that they created. This is a very lucrative form of advertising for an ecommerce store or business, and the store or business owner will essentially bid on keywords or phrases so that Google will match their ads with the content on others' websites. For example, if an ecommerce business owner decides to pay for the phrase "ecommerce store" then their website ad will be shown throughout ads on pages that are found in Google's search engine. Organic Search Even though this may be an awkward-sounding phrase, organic searches are actually really important and valuable to ecommerce stores and businesses. Performing an organic search on Google or one of the other major search engines will lead you to web content and information that you are looking for based on the content of the page that is related to the keyword that you typed into the search engine. This means that eCommerce store advertisers must use SEO practices in order to rank well in Google to have their page found. The more relevant the content on your page, the higher you will be ranked. Article Directories and Press Releases These two forms of advertising do work well; however, the aforementioned advertising methods work better. One way to advertise your ecommerce store is by writing articles and press releases about your store or business. After you've written articles or a press release about your store you can then submit them to free article directories. These free article directories will be able to help you by linking to your ecommerce store or business so that you'll receive more traffic and visitors. Two examples of valuable article directories that one can use are Goarticles.com as well as Ezine Articles. All in all, promoting your ecommerce store or business does not have to be difficult, but it does take time and a little bit of money to succeed. Promotion of ecommerce stores is the biggest part of the ecommerce process, and many people are already realizing the value of it!

Title: The Secrets of Ecommerce Fulfillment Revealed
|
|
Whether you are looking to market your ecommerce store or you are looking for an ecommerce opportunity, there are several things that you should know before creating an online ecommerce store. Maybe not the first question on your list, but one of the most important questions that one should be asking themselves is how they will stock the inventory that they are advertising on their ecommerce stores? There are many ways to go about doing this and some of these include using an ecommerce fulfillment warehouse or store, as well as drop-shippers that will work with customers in their ecommerce business. Both of these services make it much easier for ecommerce store owners to manage their business in order to give customers a pleasant experience! Fulfillment Houses These are the types of organizations and businesses that will help you through the process of giving your customers a fast delivery of the products that they ordered through your ecommerce stores. These types of fulfillment services are becoming more plentiful throughout the internet and they are usually handy for large-scale businesses and ecommerce stores that stock a lot of products throughout their websites. Ecommerce fulfillment services are services that take the initial steps to processing a customers order. Most of these services that are used read the email that alerts them that a new product or order needs to be shipped. From there, the fulfillment service will send out a confirmation email the ecommerce business owner as well as the customer. If the inventory is stocked at the fulfillment house then the product will be shipped out from there; however, if it is stocked elsewhere then the fulfillment house will go to pick it up in order to ship it out. Following the delivery and successful completion of an order from an ecommerce store, the ecommerce fulfillment center will usually replenish the inventory as well as update the ecommerce website so that the inventory on the website reflects the order that was just fulfilled. Drop shippers These ecommerce services usually stock the entire inventory on their website and usually allow the ecommerce business owner to advertise their products, as well as allow customers to buy products directly from the ecommerce business owner's website. The only difference with this service is that the products are all held at the drop shipper’s warehouse and they are conveniently even shipped out from the warehouse as well. Once the product is purchased on the ecommerce store then the drop shipper will have to be alerted, usually by the ecommerce store owner. All that needs to be done on the ecommerce store's website is that the inventory will need to be updated. But drop shippers are real handy for those who are just starting out in the ecommerce world and need a lot of help. These two ecommerce solutions are great for big or small businesses no matter what products they are selling. From large pieces of automobile parts and equipment all the way to children’s toys, both fulfillment centers and drop shippers give ecommerce store owners the greatest convenience in their business!

Title: Ecommerce Is The Way To Go
|
|
In a world where the Web is driving the consumer and the market, it is only logical to realize that ecommerce is the way to go. Small business owners everywhere are catching on to the trend of ecommerce. There are many reasons ecommerce is so incredibly popular. Take a look at these reasons and decide for yourself if ecommerce is what you want to take on. Don’t be the last one to get involved in this great thing. The first reason ecommerce is so popular is because it has opened up a whole new way for consumers to shop. For the first time, consumers are literally able to sit at their home computers and shop. They can do this at any time of day, any day of the week. Even on holidays where every shop in their town is closed, they can shop online with no problem. Giving the consumer this type of freedom is a great thing. With this freedom, consumers will shop more and spend more. Another reason ecommerce is so popular is because it allows consumers to access items from all over the world. So, they don’t have to travel to Japan to get authentic Japanese products. They can buy anything, from anywhere, without having to leave the comfort of their home or office. Consumers can access the best deals and you can make more money with a wider consumer base that allows you to reach the entire world. So, if you are a business owner, you might want to take a few pointers and start getting your business into the world of ecommerce soon. It will likely bring your sales up quite a bit. In addition, you will be taking your business to a worldwide level. You can reach consumers from thousands of miles away, which can only help your business grow.

Title: Ecommerce Websites
|
|
An ecommerce website essentially deals in online transactions for purchase and sale of products over the internet. Ecommerce is an abbreviated form for Electronic Commerce and is also sometimes referred to as eCommerce. With the advent of Internet, trades over ecommerce websites have grown significantly and so has ecommerce website development. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) governs and regulates the activities of the ecommerce websites.
Ecommerce website development has facilitated and eased many operations that include the following, either individually or in combination:
-
Funds (money) transfer over the internet
-
Automation of data collection systems
-
Electronic data exchanges
-
Inventory management systems
-
Supply chain management systems
Ecommerce has revolutionized the way business is done on the internet. However, it was a long struggle, as the security features were still being developed and implemented. Security was a major concern as ecommerce websites mostly dealt with cash transactions and involved online payments using credit cards. Thus it was a challenge for most of the ecommerce website developments to gain the confidence of the people and get them to transact on the World Wide Web. During the dot-com boom many "brick and mortar" establishments went online for their business and flourished as ecommerce traders. Many home based businesses tried their luck on the World Wide Web and started selling their goods online. However, many such hurried and random online businesses collapsed with the burst of the dot-com bubble. Companies and ventures with real strong fundamentals and business models sustained as revenue generators in the ecommerce space. Some of these include eBay, Amazon, Office Depot, Staples, and other similar ventures, which had office stationery, music/movie CDs and DVDs, books, and so on
Ecommerce website development involves a stable consideration of various technical facets:
-
A foremost consideration is about the strategy and a strong market research that will define the success of the ecommerce venture. This must be adequately backed by a professional management and a technical team to build a profitable business model.
-
Designing a robust website that provides complete information about the products and services. The ecommerce website should be able to suitably facilitate information sharing and flow among the customers, partners, suppliers so that a common view is shared among all these.
-
The systems on which the ecommerce website is being developed and hosted should be scalable, stable, reliable, and highly secure. Proper fail-safe, encryption, and hardware redundancy features must be well in place.
-
The ecommerce website development should be on latest technologies and respond quickly to technological advancements, and if required to social and economic changes as well.
An ecommerce endeavor, like every other business, focuses on the customer experience. The ecommerce website must make certain that customer feels pleasured about transacting online and returns for future purchases.
