Toronto Search Engines (or any other Search Engine) are special websites on the Internet that are programmed in such a way so as to enable people to search for information stored on various websites around the World Wide Web. Toronto Search Engines differ from each other in the way they operate or the algorithm they are built upon. They however perform the following basic tasks: - They search the Internet looking for information based on a few keywords. - They build an indexed database of the information they find along with a pointer to the location where the information was found. - Using this indexed database, they allow users to search for their key terms and phrases. In the early days of the Internet, Search Engines indexed a few thousand pages and received only a few hits everyday. In the present day, Toronto Search Engines index hundreds of million pages and receive a million or more hits everyday. What is Crawling? In order to let you know where a file or document is, Toronto Search Engines have to locate this file on the web. This process of locating the information on the web is achieved through programs known as spiders or crawlers. In order to build and maintain a usable database, the program has to look and analyze a lot of web pages. The spider starts its travel from the heavily used servers. The spider will begin with a popular site, locating and indexing the contents on its pages. It will then travel to all links found on this website. In this way, the spider crawls all over the web, locating and indexing all information it finds. Indexing Once the Toronto Search Engines have completed the task of locating the information it has to be indexed and stored in a database in such a way that it is accessible to the users. There are 2 key aspects to this. -The information stored with the data -The method by which the information is indexed In the simplest case, Toronto Search Engines could just store the keyword and the URL where the keyword was found. This would highly limit the use of Toronto Search Engines because there would be no way to tell whether the keyword was used once or many times, if the keyword was relevant to the website, if the website in question had links to other websites etc. To make for more useful results, most Toronto Search Engines store more than just the word and URL. They store the number of times a keyword appears on a page. The engine assigns a weight to each entry, with increasing values assigned to words as they appear near the top of the document, in sub-headings, in links, in the meta tags or in the title of the page. Toronto Search Engines employ different algorithms to rank websites. An index has a single purpose. It allows information to be found as quickly as possible. There are quite a few in which Toronto Search Engines build indexes, the most popular method being use of hash tables. |

Types of search engines include crawler-based, human powered directories, hybrids, metacrawlers, metasearch, news, paid listings/CPC, shopping, multimedia, kids, specialty, country-specific, and so on.
The two major ways that search engines get editorial listings is from crawler-based results and human-powered results. Crawler-Based Search Engines Crawler-based search engines, such as Google, automatically compile their listings, by sending out ‘spiders’, robots or bots to crawl through your website pages. Build your pages using search engine optimization techniques, and you may have several pages listed, giving you high ranking on search engines. Crawler-based search engines have three major elements: Spider (crawler) The spider visits a web page, reads it, and follows links to other pages within the site. The spider returns to the site on a regular basis, such as every month or two, to look for changes. Index Everything the spider finds goes into the second part of the search engine, the index, or catalogue. This contains a copy of every web page the spider finds. If a web page changes, then this book is updated with new information. Until pages are indexed, they are not available to those searching with the search engine. Indexing can sometimes take many weeks. Search This is where the search engine software sifts through millions of pages recorded in the index to find matches to a search term and rank them in order of what it believes is most relevant. If you change your web pages, crawler-based search engines eventually find these changes, and that can affect how you are listed. Page titles, body copy and other elements all play a role. Human-Powered Directories A human-powered directory, such as the Open Directory (DMOZ.org), depends on humans for its listings. You submit a short description to the directory for your entire site, or editors write one for sites they review. Getting listed means carefully submitting your pages (preferably by hand). The three most important directories for getting your site listed on major search engines are Yahoo, Open Directory Project (DMOZ.org) and Inktomi Keywords. A search looks for matches only in the descriptions submitted. Changing your web pages has no effect on your listing. Learn more on our Directory Submissions and Search Engine Submissions pages
"Hybrid Search Engines" Or Mixed Results Usually, a hybrid search engine will favour one type of listing over another. For example, MSN Search is more likely to present human-powered listings from LookSmart. However, it does also present crawler-based results (as provided by Inktomi), especially for more obscure queries. Metacrawlers and Metasearch Engines Metacrawlers don't crawl the web themselves to build listings. Instead, they allow searches to be sent to several search engines all at once, and bring the results together onto one page. Metasearch utilities make it easy to search more than one search engine at the same time. Examples are: Vivisimo | Kartoo | SurfWax | Fazzle News Search Engines The latest news stories from hundreds of sources on the web can be obtained from services such as Google News, Dailyearth, and Newsdirectory. These services provide exceptionally good results for current event searching, as they crawl only news sites several times every day. Examples are: Google News | Yahoo News | AltaVista News | World News Network Paid Listings / CPC Search Engines You can pay to be listed on Cost per click (CPC) - also called Pay per click (PPC) - search engines. Advertisers pay for every click the search engine sends them, and those who pay the most generally get listed higher. For more information, read our Pay per Click Search Engines page. Some of the larger companies also provide their ads to other search engines, which integrate them alongside editorial results. Examples are: Overture (GoTo) | Google AdWords | FindWhat.com | Espotting.com
Shopping Search Engines Shopping search engines are designed to check prices at various online stores or locate ecommerce outlets by category. Examples are: BizRate | DealTime | Froogle | Kelkoo Multimedia Search Engines Multimedia search engines help you locate sound, image and video files, as well as radio and television programs. Examples are: Images/Audio/Video AllTheWeb | AltaVista | Google Images (images only) | The Music Finder (artists & songs) Radio & TV Programs PublicRadioFan.Com | Radio-Locator Kids Search Engines There are search engine services designed primarily to serve the needs of children, either in focus, or by filtering out sites that some parents and teachers might find inappropriate for kids, such as websites that deal with explicit sexual matters, porn sites, violence, hate speech, gambling and drug use. Some examples of search engines for kids are:- Ask Jeeves for kids | Kidsclick | Cleansearch | Education world
Specialty Search Engines For those times when you want to find more than just web pages and web sites, some of the "specialty search engines" can prove useful. Also called topical search engines, "vertical" search engines or "vortals", they help you search through specific types of listings in different areas. Just type the topic into your browser and you will see the results. Some search suggestions are: Answers Searching Computer Search Engines Domain Searching Financial Search Engines Government Search Invisible Web Legal Search Engines Mailing Lists Medical Search Engines Newsgroup Search Science Search Engines Shopping Search Travel Search Engines WAP Search Engines Other Specialty Services Country-Specific Search Engines There are also search engines that are devoted to particular countries and regions of the world. To find them, simply do a search using your regular toolbar, and type in ‘search engines in Australia’ or Italy, or whatever country you are looking for. Alternatively, link up to either of these sites below, and you are on your way: Search Engine Colossus | Search Engine Watch - Search Links http://www.4-better-business.com/default.asp?page=types_of_searchengines.htm |

Relevant Search with Search Engines:
The Goal of search engines is to spread information though internet with a relevant search and web content. The revenue generation is though selling advertising space with different methods and places. The pay per Click advertising method is the most common one for all major search engines like Google AdWords. Most of people have a thought that search engine makes money with some hidden techniques, but that’s not true at all. Listing a New Site is not easy: Listing a new site is not an easy task for any search engine. First of all it’s hard to know if that site exists on web or not. If someone submits a new site or Search Crawl it using any link then the question arises of its quality. Most of search engines calculate the relevancy and quality by checking the incoming links that page is getting from different sites. Parts of a Search Engine: There are many different ways how search engines organize their web content, but every crawling style search engine like Yahoo Google and MSN has the same basic structure. Every search must have three basic structures listed below: • Crawler or Spider • Index (or catalog) • Search Algorithm Crawler (or Spider): The crawler does just what its name implies. It scours the web following links, updating pages, and adding new pages when it comes across them. Each search engine has periods of deep crawling and periods of shallow crawling. There is also a scheduler mechanism to prevent a spider from overloading servers and to tell the spider what documents to crawl next and how frequently to crawl them. Rapidly changing or highly important documents are more likely to get crawled frequently. The frequency of crawl should typically have little effect on search relevancy; it simply helps the search engines keep fresh content in their index. The home page of CNN.com might get crawled once every 10 minutes. A popular rapidly growing forum might get crawled a few dozen times each day. A static site with little link popularity and rarely changing content might only get crawled once or twice a month. The best benefit of having a frequently crawled page is that you can get your new sites, pages, or projects crawled quickly by linking to them from a powerful or frequently changing page. The Index: The index is where the spider collected data is stored. When you perform a search on a major search engine, you are not searching the web, but the cache of the web provided by that search engine's index. Search Interface: The search algorithm and search interface are used to find the most relevant document in the index based on the search. First the search engine tries to determine user intent by looking at the words the searcher typed in. "Search engine submission" involves the work of getting your web site listed with search engines. Earlier the submission process was automated. However, most search engines have implemented steps to prevent this these days. Nowadays, this activity is generally done by experts in search-engine-submission-services.htm target=_blank>Search Engine Submission Services. Getting listed on search engines does not mean that the sites will necessarily rank well for particular search terms. Rather, it simply means that the search engine comes to know about the existence of your pages. Traffic is the most important concern for any website owner. Search engine submission and website promotion are vital aspects of driving traffic to your site. With the presence of millions of websites on the Internet and it is difficult to compete with them for a high rank in search engines. Search engine submission services attempt to obtain a high search engine ranking for the customers though it is a tough job in high competition markets. No Search engine submission services can guarantee high placement. There are two basic reasons to submit a web site or web page to a search engine. The first reason would be to add an entirely new web site because the site operators don’t want to wait for a search engine to discover them. The second reason is to have a web page or web site updated in the respective search engine. There are two basic methods used by Search engine submission services to submit your site to a search engines. Only one page can be submitted at a time or, the entire site with its sitemap can be submitted. However, many times, most search engines are able to crawl a site with submission of just the home page, provided that it has a proper navigation structure. Web sites desire to be listed in popular search engines because that is how most sites are often seen by visitors who eventually convert into customers. Sites that appear on the first page of a search are said to be in the top 10. However, there are still many search-engine-submission-services.htm target=_blank>Search Engine Submission Services that offer service to automatically place any web site with several hundreds search engines for a fee. These business services should be avoided as they are scam operations and generally do not work. There are little more than a dozen or two search engines to begin with. And, there are really only 3 major search engines. It should take only about 15 minutes to submit a site to all three of these search engines. Therefore you should be extremely careful while enlisting Search engine submission services. search-engine-submission-services.htm target=_blank>Search Engine Submission Services |

It's time to start building your website that can pull convertible search engine traffic. You do this with content. Content is the fuel for search engine traffic. To truly qualify as search engine traffic or organic search traffic, the search must be one that the searcher initiated as a search, either by clicking a search link in a directory style portal or by filling out a search query box. This requires careful keyword planning, proper website optimization techniques, as well as intelligent link building through SEO techniques and other search engine marketing strategies. Remember that the best search engine traffic is only generated through careful attention to keywords, links, and advertising where necessary. Basically, the higher your link popularity, the higher your page rank will be; and the higher your page rank is, the higher your position in the search engine results will be, growing your website's search engine traffic. If you're not getting most of your search engine traffic from Google, then you might need to make some adjustments to your web pages in order to attract more of Google's attention. Your goal is to make every significant page of your site increase with search engine traffic. You see, a properly optimized website is like a magnet to search engines and attracts website visitors the same way moths are attracted to a light bulb on a dark night, and targeted traffic that you get from the search engines is called organic search engine traffic. To improve organic search engine traffic for your keyword(s), like I said, is your goal. The better you are ranked for your keyword(s) the better your business results will be. This requires careful keyword selection, proper website optimization techniques and intelligent link building through SEO techniques and other search engine marketing strategies. Remember that the best search engine traffic is only generated through careful attention to keywords, links, and advertising where necessary. Also placing your main keyword in the URL of your web presence will also increase you traffic. This is not because search engines pay particularly more attention to an URL with keywords, but because people often just paste an URL into comments, blog posts and forums where they are automatically linked by the software. |

A Web search engine is a search engine designed to search for information on the World Wide Web. Information may consist of web pages, images and other types of files. Some search engines also mine data available in newsgroups, databases, or open directories. Unlike Web directories, which are maintained by human editors, search engines operate algorithmically or are a mixture of algorithmic and human input. The very first tool used for searching on the Internet was Archie. The name stands for "archive" without the "vee". It was created in 1990 by Alan Emtage, a student at McGill University in Montreal. The program downloaded the directory listings of all the files located on public anonymous FTP (File Transfer Protocol) sites, creating a searchable database of file names; however, Archie did not index the contents of these files. The first Web search engine was Wandex, a now-defunct index collected by the World Wide Web Wanderer, a web crawler developed by Matthew Gray at MIT in 1993. How they work A search engine operates, in the following order: Web crawling Indexing Searching Web search engines work by storing information about many web pages, which they retrieve from the WWW itself. These pages are retrieved by a Web crawler an automated Web browser which follows every link it sees. Exclusions can be made by the use of robots.txt. The contents of each page are then analyzed to determine how it should be indexed. Data about web pages are stored in an index database for use in later queries. Some search engines, such as Google, store all or part of the source page as well as information about the web pages, whereas others, such as AltaVista, store every word of every page they find. This cached page always holds the actual search text since it is the one that was actually indexed, so it can be very useful when the content of the current page has been updated and the search terms are no longer in it. This problem might be considered to be a mild form of linkrot, and Google's handling of it increases usability by satisfying user expectations that the search terms will be on the returned webpage. This satisfies the principle of least astonishment since the user normally expects the search terms to be on the returned pages. Increased search relevance makes these cached pages very useful, even beyond the fact that they may contain data that may no longer be available elsewhere. When a user enters a query into a search the engine examines its index and provides a listing of best-matching web pages according to its criteria, usually with a short summary containing the document's title and sometimes parts of the text. Most search engines support the use of the boolean operators AND, OR and NOT to further specify the search query. Some search engines provide an advanced feature called proximity search which allows users to define the distance between keywords. Geospatially-enabled Web search engines A recent enhancement to search engine technology is the addition of geocoding and geoparsing to the processing of the ingested documents being indexed, to enable searching within a specified locality or region. Geoparsing attempts to match any found references to locations and places to a geospatial frame of reference, such as a street address, gazetteer locations, or to an area. Through this geoparsing process, latitudes and longitudes are assigned to the found places, and these latitudes and longitudes are indexed for later spatial query and retrieval. This can enhance the search process tremendously by allowing a user to search for documents within a given map extent, or conversely, plot the location of documents matching a given keyword to analyze incidence and clustering, or any combination of the two. See the list of search engines for examples of companies which offer this feature. |

The internet is one of the shining examples of the advancement of science and technology and the coming of the internet has benefited human beings enormously. The internet search engines are one of the most important components which aid the retrieval of information from the huge world of the World Wide Web in response to the keywords typed by an individual on the search engine's interface. The major search engines operating in the internet include Yahoo, Google, Baidu etc. Search engine marketing is a very significant venture to popularize the usage of these search engines and therefore one will come across numerous advertising options on the search engine's interface. The pay per click option is also known as PPC and is a common advertising formula used by the search engines, in blogs or websites as well as in advertising networks where the advertisers are required to pay only if a consumers clicks on an ad and therefore visits the website of the advertiser. Usually the advertisers place their stake by inserting certain key words which they believe their aimed consumers will type in order to search for some required information. In case a user types a similar keyword on the search engine, the corresponding ad placed by the advertiser appears readily on the screen and such ads are known as ‘sponsored ads' or ‘sponsored links'. These ads usually appear on the search engine results page as placed accordingly by the blogger or the webmaster. The prominent advertising networks like Yahoo! Publisher Network and Google AdSense are some of the popular sites which represent such ads on their interface which seem appropriate according to the page's content and are popular sites for pay per click ads. According to recent statistics, Microsoft adCenter, Google AdSense and Yahoo! Publisher Marketing are the largest of the network operators in the world. There are, however various other pay per click keyword search engines like Google AdWords, Miva, Baidu, Yahoo! Search Marketing, LookSmart etc. the pricing depends upon the individual search engines. However, on a generalized basis it can be noted that minimum price levels can be noted at US$0.01 and these prices are known as costs per click or CPC. Some of the well known PPC product search engines include Shopping.com, Shopzilla while other significant PPC services include SideStep, NexTag etc. While pay per click advertising is a very popular mode, it is also possible to misuse this option in the form of ‘click fraud' and leading search engines like Google have already undertaken automated protective measures to prevent this. |

Peoples using the search engines to find information about anything. How does it works is very simple. Every search engine does have a search box where you type a phrase or keyword and click search. Shortly the search engine will return the results found on the search engine index for that particular keyword or related to that phrase. Now I would like to talk about the top 10 positions on any search engine. The first page actually of real results. Conform to recently statistics those are the websites which making sales and they are the most profitable websites. We are now returning back to our big question: How to get there? You can get there by learning what it takes to get high ranking on search engine without paying a penny for advertising .To get listed on the first page on Google for example it means Google says that you are highly relevant for that particular term. All search engines are unique and different so you cannot have a standard rule for all search engines but there are general guidelines so bellow I will present you few of those guidelines. So let's talk about what search engines actually want. Generally what they are locking for is the phrases what phrases you do have and the weighting of these phrases on your website. So they will lock at your phrases and will say ok these phrases are relevant to what peoples are typing in on search engine box Second is how much of the resource they see you as. If they lock at your website and they think yes it is a real resource ,is got a lot of information is highly relevant and I am going to give a high ranking or just do they see you have a few pages considering is not real a resource. So you have to work on becoming a resource for your site for your sector Also they lock how many good sites are linking to your website. It is very important that the number of sites linking to you has a direct impact on how highly ranked you are on search engines. If you have a lot of peoples linking to you your website will be rank higher than websites have less people linking to them And finally how relevant search engines think your website is. This is really crucial So what really matter to search engines is the relevancy of your website Google for example is the most popular search engine is very strictly on relevancy The whole way it's been built that they want to give peoples relevant results. So If you can make your website highly relevant for as many phrases as possible that is going to bring you higher rankings and higher volume of traffic Also you will need to work on becoming the leader authority of your sector. What do I mean by that is that you need to expand the content of your website by adding additional resources related to your website content so the search engines to say ok this is becoming a great resource for this sector so we going to rank it higher than other websites which does not have so many pages with real resources. So you need to move away from keeping your website at the original stage and try to extend your content to other related areas. Is the best way for showing to search engines that your website is relevant and has valuable resources. |
