Sexy Reese Witherspoon has recently been seen with the charming Jake Gyllenhaal. Witherspoon and Gyllenhaal would definitely represent a high profile and couple to keep one’s eyes on. Soon enough, people will probably start calling then “Wyllenhaal,” “Githerspoon,” or some other catchy celebrity couple phrase. But taking a step deeper, does this star studded relationship stand a chance in Hollywood? By using Chinese Astrology to examine their personalities, Firepig.com attempts to determine if this relationship will result in a ring or a fling. Chinese Astrology love match readings are derived from calculating their compatibility based on their birth year, birth month, birth day, and birth hour. In addition, it is important to note that Jake Gyllenhaal is also five years younger than Reese Witherspoon. Since it is ladies first, Miss Witherspoon is born in the year of the Fire Dragon in Chinese Astrology. The Fire Element in her Chinese Zodiac provides her vitality and brilliance. The Dragon in her Chinese Zodiac gives her a flamboyant, seductive, chic persona. Furthermore the Dragon is a karmic sign therefore Witherspoon will experience some extreme peaks and valleys in her life. On the other hand, Jake Gyllenhaal is a Metal Monkey in Chinese Astrology. The Monkey in the Chinese Zodiac is usually very versatile and playful. Monkeys bring great joy and happiness to the lives of people they interact with. Quite often, they are extremely charming. The Metal Element in the Chinese Zodiac makes people ambitious, driven, and intense. Since Metal is a cold element, they usually are more reserved and turn inward to confront problems rather than to reach out to others for help. Mixing the Monkey and Metal creates someone who is charming and ambitious. This mix can often inflate a Monkey’s ego; however, a good does of their patented charm draw people right back to them. Looking at the Witherspoon and Gyllenhaal’s Chinese Astrology love match, Firepig.com generally thinks that Monkeys and Dragons coexist with relative ease. Yet at the same time the Fire Element melts the Metal Element in Chinese astrology which can lead to Witherspoon being destructive in Gyllenhaal’s life. Generally Monkeys also tend to be very trusting in others in their youth, so since Witherspoon is older Gyllenhaal could very well be in for a rude awakening to Witherspoon’s potent Fire Element. Firepig.com thinks that most gossip magazines should think twice before anointing a nickname like “Wyllenhaal” or “Githerspoon” because the chance of love flourishing is less than 50 / 50 for this sexy power couple in Hollywood. Chinese calligraphy began in 213 B.C. by Prime Minister Li Szu who created over 3000 characters to be used by the Chinese scholars. The five different styles, zhuan-shu, li-shu, kai-shu,xing-shu, and cao-shu, are all forms used in Chinese calligraphy. One word can be written in different ways depending on the style and the execution of that style. The word can be fluid, formal, exact, whimsicalit all is in the hand of the application and unique personal deliverance of the strokes. Many masters from the beginning of origin to now have left their work for us to enjoy as art today. When you begin to study calligraphy, you will adopt a style which is distinctive to you and perfect the strokes as your own form of self expression. The artistic value of Chinese calligraphy is in the skill and method is exclusive to the particular creative ability delivering it. When well done, the words interpretations are more leaning to abstract art, then anything else. This graceful serene art form called Chinese calligraphy is a greek word meaning "beautiful writing" and is seen everywhere from art galleries to restaurants, and tattoo shops. Which takes me back to the search for the perfect Chinese word. Once I had the words I wanted to immortalize on my back, after learning so much more about Chinese calligraphy, it occurred to me I would have to choose a form as well. What kind of brush strokes would best represent the meaning of the words I had chose? I could go with a more classic, traditional style used in ancient times or even something called the "grass" style, looking more whimsical to me. I had not realized the depth of expression involved not only in searching a tattoo, but the actual essence, personality, and layers upon layers of meaning associated with this beautiful art. As you learn Chinese calligraphy, you will notice that traditionally certain materials are used in a particular way to produce the eloquent results. The Chinese use special brushes made of rabbit hair or sheep. One brush is for sharpness in line drawing, and the other for rhythm and depth all equaling to the subject's inner self. Also used in Chinese calligraphy, is a thick ground ink combined with water and applied to Chinese paper (also called rice paper) or silk. This form shows depth, contrast, density and texture and creates a rhythmic balance. When the Chinese apply color to this art form, it is to show the subject's characteristics or moods. The more I searched on Chinese calligraphy, the more infatuated I became of the work, yet I was not getting closer to choosing a tattoo because, quite honestly, each word or quotation inspired a feeling in me. There were simply too many I identified with on a deeper, more spiritual level. After skipping across the top of the Chinese calligraphy history and art information, you can decide to take the process further by actively seeking out places or internet sites offering a more thorough course in the art of Chinese calligraphy. Many instructions remain basic in it's course, while others incorporate reading or speaking Chinese as well. Whether you embark on learning to write one character well to display as art on your wall, or you continue with the craft to put words together, even learning to read Chinese, it is rewarding. The more you unravel the mystery living inside each of these characters, it seems to create added curiosity and a desire to keep going. Chinese calligraphy is a worthy and nice experience to launch into. Expect Countless hours of enjoyable practice into an ancient, respected, old world art. If you wish to learn Chinese calligraphy, then by all meanscontinue on.

Chinese food holds a popular place among the entire population of the world. You can find a Chinese restaurant in every major city and in many smaller areas of the world as well. Why is Chinese food so popular? Is Chinese food healthy? What is the history of Chinese food? The History of Chinese Food The history of Chinese food1 is an interesting one. Unlike many cultures the Chinese believe that the preparation of food is an art and not simply a craft. The art of cooking Chinese food can include dishes and food preparation techniques which are difficult to develop and may require the expertise of a chef with lots of experience. One such technique is noodle pulling (scroll down to the bottom of the page to learn more about this technique). Noodle pulling requires skill and lots of practice and results in a delicious noodle dish. This article will refer to noodle pulling later on, but for now, let’s go back to the history of Chinese food. Chinese food and the way it is prepared is very much influenced by the two major philosophies, which influence the entire Chinese culture. These dominant philosophies are Confucianism and Taoism. Both have these philosophies have influenced the way that the Chinese people cook and the way that they enjoy their food. Confucianism and Chinese Cuisine Confucius was the man behind the Confucianism beliefs. Among many other standards Confucius established standards for proper table etiquette and for the appearance and taste of Chinese food. One of the standards set by Confucius (you might have noticed this at an authentic Chinese restaurant) is that food must be cut into small bite size pieces before serving the dish. This is a custom that is definitely unique to the Chinese culture. Knives at the dinner table are also considered to be a sign of very poor taste by those who embrace Confucianism beliefs. The standards of quality and taste that Confucius recommended required the perfect blend of ingredients, herbs and condiments--a blend which would result in the perfect combination of flavor. Confucius also emphasized the importance of the texture and color of a dish, and taught that food must be prepared and eaten with harmony. Interestingly enough, Confucius was also of the opinion that an excellent cook must first make an excellent matchmaker. Taoism and Chinese Cuisine Those who follow the Taoism beliefs focus on the health benefits of particular foods vs. the presentation of the same. Taoists search for foods that will increase their health and longevity. They search for foods that have healing powers. Many times these benefits were often referred to as ‘life giving powers’. For instance, the Chinese found that ginger, which can be considered to be a garnish or a condiment was found to be a remedy for upset stomachs or a remedy for colds. Is Chinese Food Healthy? Chinese food, when authentic is probably the healthiest food in the world. Some restaurants, which are not authentic, prepare their menu with highly saturated fats or with meats that contain unhealthy amounts of animal fat. These Chinese restaurants are not recommended and they are both neither authentic nor healthy. Good Chinese food however, is prepared and cooked with poly-unsaturated oils. Authentic Chinese food does not require the use of milk-fat ingredients such as cream, butter or cheese. Meat is used, but not in abundance, which makes it easy for those who love authentic Chinese food to avoid high levels of animal fat. Many believe that authentic Chinese food is really the ideal diet. Chinese Restaurants in Every Part of the Nation Whether it is in a Tennessee Chinese Restaurant to a New York Chinese restaurant you are going to find culinary dishes that are both healthy and delicious. In today's schools, so many children have problems with learning to read. Many teachers and parents will confirm that reading problem exacts a great period of time. Reading comprehension requires mental work for keeping thoughts, motivation, concentration and good study strategies. Comprehension is the main component of studying reading. Teaching reading comprehension strategies for pupils at all levels is complex. Teachers must have a strong understanding of the text and its contest and must have a good knowledge of the methods. The National Reading Panel has carried out the study of reading comprehension and picked out three major topics in the investigation on the development of reading comprehension skills. Reading comprehension is a complex cognitive process. It cannot be analyzed without a definite description of the vocabulary development and vocabulary instruction role in the understanding of the text. Besides, comprehension is an active process and thus, it requires a thoughtful interplay between the reader and the text. Also, the teachers’ preparation is aimed at developing reading comprehension strategies that is connected to pupils' achievements. Research on comprehension methods and strategies has developed for a comparatively short time. At first, the investigators of this question paid special attention at teaching one strategy. Later on the studies proved the effectiveness of teaching some strategies at once. Still, it is not easy as requires teachers to be skillful and be able to respond to pupils' necessity for a help while they are reading. Researchers have discovered how to successfully teach children to read. According to the findings of the National Reading Panel Report the analysis of the text requires five spheres of reading instruction to be used. They are: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and text comprehension. Each sphere determines the skill, looks through the research data, describes certain strategies for teaching reading skills, and addresses frequently asked questions. The best methods of teaching comprehension strategies are systematic and include: direct explanation by the teacher, modeling by the teacher, guided practice by the teacher, application by the pupil with help of the teacher. Research has found several effective comprehension strategies. They are the following: To teach children to point out hard-to-understand parts of text and then to look for solutions while rereading sections for clues. To use graphic organizers - maps, charts, and diagrams – to make students focus on important points the author is trying to convey. To answer questions that help pupils focus on important points in a text. To make up questions. To recognize story structure — plot, characters, and other content categories of the text. To recognize story structure — pupils who can analyze a text in terms of its plot, characters, and other content categories are more likely to remember the story. They must also recognize text features in both fiction and nonfiction texts. To summarize, this encourages students to focus on the most important elements in a text. Comprehension is the ability to create meaning in the mind. Still, not everyone knows that comprehension can be taught. Teachers can improve children's abilities to understand the text using concrete comprehension strategies. Reading comprehension is very important in the development of children's reading skills. Thus, it is important for their ability to get an education.

In a world that is slowly but surely turning away from books and getting glued to monitors or television screens, the importance of developing a passion for reading cannot be overlooked. Reading is a habit and should be established when the child is relatively young. What can you do to foster this habit? Enroll your child for reading classes: There are many well structured after school reading classes that aim to draw the children to books. They help kids with diction, idioms and phrases. For young children, these classes can be fun with animated characters and pictures. Illustrated picture books, rhymes, silly songs and pretend stories all attract the young child. Use creativity to capture the child's vivid imagination. Pique your child's interest: If your child has a favorite character, pick a series of books that features this character. For my son, it was Spiderman. Thanks to friendly neighborhood spidey, my son latched on to comics fairly early in his childhood. Build a home-library: A skill like reading cannot be learnt in isolation. Do not leave all the hard work to the after school program. Pick up books that you think your child will like. The Internet is also a rich resource of reading games that will attract little children to the fine art of reading. We provide free articles and information. Check us out at Free Articles

Before going to Holland, I decided to buy a Dutch/English traveling pocket book. I relentlessly worked day and night at sounding out each letter, and creating flash cards and going over them day after day. A Dutch Teacher which I located on a bulletin board at the YMCA in Montreal supported me tremendously. However, I could not remember what each word meant, and constantly had to review the words in the dictionary. Well, by the time THAT was over, I had lost all meaning of the plot. This created frustration, and unfortunately I ended the tutorial sessions. My trip to Holland was great. I remember a few words; however I had not acquired reading fluency! Reading Fluency is the ability to read effortlessly and with ease with the freedom of word recognition problems. "A lack of fluency is characterized by slow, halting pace; frequent mistakes; poor phrasing; inadequate intonation-all a result of weak word recognition skills (Samuels, 1979). Reading fluency is imperative in order for students to read for meaning. Students, who decode effortlessly, can concentrate on the plot. Fluent Readers can: 1. Read with speed 2. Read with recognition 3. Read with proper intonations A student can read fluently if they read with expression, aloud and retell story, comprehend equally when passage is read or listened to by a parent or on audio. In order to evaluate reading fluency, there are several measurement tools. Florida now includes these rates as benchmarks for student readiness. Students need paragraphs read aloud to them with expression! Teachers and parents alike can do this at home. Students should practice reading new and difficult words, and use a dictionary at all times. Whether at home or school. Schools either provide a dictionary or it is on the supply list at the beginning of the year. Kids should also recite what you have read aloud. Teachers should also model reading with taking a pause between words. This is fluency. Here are a few lessons you can use: Lesson #1 While reading, have students, echo changes in pitch. This will enhance expression. Choose a paragraph or phrase in the book they are reading. Discuss it with them, and have them echo your reading. Lesson #2 Audio books are great. Go to www.readinga-z.com to purchase a few for your kids. Tips for Making Reading Enjoyable: Make sure your child sits in a comfy corner Have them eat healthy snacks Drink water Be consistent Read at home. Modeling is the key! Naturally being a professor and a writer, I value books. I have read a good number of books of various kinds. I did take down notes in my journal regularly. At times, I look back those pages to recollect what I liked in those books. Most of the books whether they are novels, short stories, poems, self-help ones or scientific did motivate me. Such motivations are useful only if we practice within one or two days. Otherwise they are of no use! That was my experience too. It seems only 10% of the book buyers read beyond the first chapter. If that is true, a lot of money is being wasted! Unfortunately, reading has become the practice of the past. Although there are attempts at various quarters for promotion of book reading such as book clubs, exhibitions, community and college libraries, people are not very much bothered to read. In some families parents advise children to read books of their choice. Reading is a good exercise for mind and body. The best time for reading I found, was early morning. The absorption of the read material by our brain is very much. You can try, if you don’t know already. It’s a fact because I tried it. It’s always advisable to make it a habit of reading for one hour every morning. The book one chooses may be of one’s choice based on one’s interest. Students may prefer to read their text books whereas others may prefer other type of books. I consider that books are the best friends and treasures one acquires during our life time. They stimulate our creative thinking. General knowledge is very important nowadays for our life. We need to live up-to-date. The world is changing so fast that we have to cope up with it. So learning becomes a continuous process all through our life. The books we buy, we read and digest have to be preserved in our home library for others to use them. Every family should have a home library which has to be built up by adding read books over time. It should be used by the members and friends of the family. In today’s world, knowledge is fed to people through computers, television, mobiles etc., because people do not have time to read books. This is not acceptable, because people while traveling long distances either by train or by air have lot of time which can be used for reading not for sleeping. Also as I mentioned earlier, one hour every morning is possible for every one to grab from their daily routine. So, even in this age of electronic life, everybody has little time for reading books. I feel that the helpfulness of books has to be evaluated properly for different age groups, because it is essential in today’s context. Education has spread like wild fire in the whole world and more particularly in our country – India. Almost no one feels they have been harmed by reading books. One stops reading a book if he or she does not like it. Scientific evaluation by conducting surveys and interviews in a community of people, will reveal the present position of book reading culture. Ways and means can be found for improving or encouraging people to read books. Such activity may be initiated by local associations, Non-governmental organizations, social societies, even libraries and government organizations. These evaluations will bring out the real reading habits of our people. Book exhibitions can be organized in small towns to encourage people to buy books and read, in stead of all sorts of exhibitions which only to help us to buy household items and other wasteful things. Think of books and read good books to gather knowledge and become wise.

According to Chinese legend, the twelve animals quarreled one day as to who was to head the cycle of years. The gods were asked to decide and they held a contest: whoever was to reach the opposite bank of the river would be first, and the rest of the animals would receive their years according to their finish. All the twelve animals gathered at the river bank and jumped in. Unknown to the ox, the rat had jumped upon his back. As the ox was about to jump ashore, the rat jumped off the ox's back, and won the race. The pig, who was very lazy, ended up last. That is why the rat is the first year of the animal cycle, the ox second, and the pig last. The Chinese animal signs are a 12-year cycle used for dating the years. They represent a cyclical concept of time, rather than the Western linear concept of time. In the Chinese calendar, the beginning of the year falls somewhere between late January and early February. The Chinese have adopted the Western calendar since 1911, but the lunar calendar is still used for festive occasions such as the Chinese New Year. Many Chinese calendars will print both the solar dates and the Chinese lunar dates. A cultural sidelight of the animal signs in Chinese folklore is that horoscopes have developed around the animal signs, much like monthly horoscopes in the West have been developed for the different moon signs, Pisces, Aries, etc. For example, a Chinese horoscope may predict that a person born in the Year of the Horse would be, cheerful, popular, and loves to compliment others. These horoscopes are amusing, but not regarded seriously by the Chinese people.

The new food labels mandated by the Food and Drug Administration for procecessed foods were non most products as of July, 1994. Single ingredient foods, such as fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, poultry, fish and unprocessed grains are not required to have labels. The new labels must contain the following information. Total calories Cholesterol Sugars Calcium Calories from fat Dietary fiber Protein Iron Total fat Sodium Vitamin A Saturated fat Total Carbohydrates Vitamin C When reading labels: 1. Look carefully at the serving size. If your normal serving size is more or less than the serving listed, you’ll need to adjust when considering the amount of fat(or carbohydrates, or proteins) in the product. 2. Look at the calories from fat. Figure the percent of calories coming from fat by dividing the total calories into the calories from fat . Figure the percent of calores coming from fat by dividing the total calories into the calories from fat (in the example above: 36/120 = 30% 3.Look at the grams of fat in the food and consider how this food fits into your total daily fat gram allotment. 4.The percentage (%) daily value can be confusing for some clients. It measures the amount of the particular nutrient in the food (e.g.,fat) against the amount of that nutrient an average person is supposed to have in one day. So, if you consume a 2,000 calorie per day diet, 30% fat is 600 calories from fat or about 65-66 grams of fat (see bottom of label). A serving of six cookies nets four grams of fat which is 6% of the 66 total grams of fat you are allowed per day. 5.On the bottom of each label is a little nutrition lesson.

The Business Of Playing A New Piece Of Music On The Spot! 1. Before playing any part of the new piece, scan the page for:- A. Key Changes B.Time Changes C. Repeat sign, CODA sign etc. D. Extremely high or low ledger line sections E. Complicated looking rhythms. NOTE: The most complicated looking 16th note figures can be more easily understood if broken down into eighth note equivalents. F. Large Interval Skips. G. Written Out Chord Voicings NOTE: If you do not have time to figure out the complete chord, concentrate on playing the top notes first, since they are sonorally predominant. H. Special Effects: Wah-Wah, Slow Tremelo, Echo, Etc. I. Dynamics: ppp, mp, ff, Staccato, Legato, Accented tone Etc. 2. from the above procedures, decide on the basic fingerings or areas of the fingerboard you will use to play the piece. 3. Now play the hardest looking thing first. NOTE: This may involve a lifemanship game in which you don't let the other guys know you're practicing the part. 4. You must always be conscious of every note you play. Improving sight reading is: Learning to learn faster through memory. Certain rhythms, tone sequences, chord voicings, tend to become standardized. Once you have seen a rhythm pattern of four eighth notes in a row, you've seen them all. This applies to scales as well. At first glance, a string of 16th notes with a lot of sharps and flats can scare you to death, but on a closer analysis, may turn out to be a simple Db scale. 5. Always force yourself to run down new material very, very slowly and build up the tempo very very gradually. 6. When actually performing the piece for the first time, DO NOT break tempo or meter when you miss a note. Learn to recover quickly and come in strong on the next entrance. NOTE: When the stick comes down, it is better to miss one bar than to miss one hundred. 7. Physically, make your eye read one bar ahead. Make SPECIAL EFFORT to do this. 8. Learn to hear what you see, or be able to sing the part without playing it first. This doesn't necessarily mean: do, re, me, fa, sol, la, ti. do, but it does mean to visualize the fingerings, the string numbers and picking and from this, deduce how the passage will sound. After these conscious analysis' have been made, play the arrangement or composition like a REAL song, as though played by ear and not a plastic fabrication. 9. Writing music by ear (away from the guitar) is another way to concentrate on the disciplines of Sight Reading. Take tunes you can already play by ear and write them down in simple lead sheet form. Melody, chord symbols, fingerings, and string numbers. The above pointers are on how to behave under pressure. The objective is to shorten the learning curve. In recording or other professional areas of playing, it is not uncommon to learn the music in the time it takes for the copyist to pass out the parts (one to three minutes - that is, if you get yours first). So, if this is the name of the game, practice at home should be carried out with the same spirit. A metronome can be invaluable in maintaining this discipline. It is also important to use the time-clock in the same way. Practice for a pre-determined period of time, and do not go beyond without reward or rest. Reward can be as simple as a drink of water and an opportunity to assimilate.

We all want to find out what planet guides our sign and how astrologers interpret relations of planetary forces at the time of our birth. Horoscope is a powerful tool offering insight into deep influence on our lives and there are many people depending entirely on it to take decisions. It is in the human nature to be curious about ourselves and there are many people considering the horoscope as the answer to their questions. The zodiac has also a lot to teach us about our path in this life. The horoscope is much more than the daily prediction. It is a complicated process of analyzing various signs, discovering their compatibility and qualities. There are many types of horoscopes and every one of them is trying to offer us specialized predictions. Today the most popular methods of Astrology use twelve Signs and houses, using the Tropical Geocentric Zodiac (Earth centered). There are many variations available. One may use Heliocentric (Sun centered) astrology, or use the Sidereal Zodiac (which takes into account the precession of the Equinox). There are many popular houses systems in use today as well. Most astrologers today tend to believe that the heavenly bodies do not reach down and push us about. Rather, the planets, luminaries, and stars "mimic" Earthly events. Synchronistic in nature, they correlate instead of dictate. This hands one's fate back to the individual, to augment or squander as one sees fit. The slight comfort of Fate has been replaced by responsibility for one's actions. A horoscope is simply a chart of the heavens calculated by the rules of astronomy. It shows positions of the planets and zodiacal signs in relation to the earth. The Earth and planets revolve around the sun at varying rates and their positions relative to the Earth and to one another are constantly changing. Every moment the heavens are different. If a child were born now, while you are reading this, the positions of the planets at this moment will not be duplicated for about twenty-six thousand years, a period that the astronomers call a "Great Sidereal Year". In the meantime, the relations of the planets would undergo an infinite number of kaleidoscopic changes; consequently, their influence would be different with respect to every individual born in the interval. It is further evident, however, that time is not the same the world over. When the Sun rises at the place where you live, it is setting at another place. When it is morning in your home, it is evening for the people in another part of the world. This makes another difference in the horoscopes of children born at the same moment but in different parts of the world, as you will readily understand when you consider that the Sun's rays affect the Earth differently in the morning, at noon, and at midnight. The planets' places and influence would also differ in the case of children born at the same time but in opposite parts of the world. If a planet were just above the birthplace of one, its rays would impinge upon that child with unimpeded force. To reach the other, born in an opposite part, it would be necessary for the stellar ray to travel directly through the Earth and part of its force would be spent by the time it reached the child. Therefore, planets under the Earth have less influence on a life than those above. Thus you see that time and place are the basic factors in a horoscope. The more accurately we are able to determine them, the better we shall be able to delineate the character and predict. In noting the time of birth of children, it is advisable to have the clock set as accurately as possible. Mark that the time of birth in the astrological sense is not the moment of delivery but the instant when the infant gives its first cry, for that cry is the completion of its initial breath. Today, people enjoy the fast Internet connection and use the World Wide Web to read and interpret their horoscope. The Internet is ready to provide amazing details about each sign and all you have to do is to find a good website. Chinese Astrology is said by some scholars to be the oldest horoscope system in the world. However if you trace Western Astrology back to its Middle East roots, both types are likely to have been born in their current recognizable form around 3000 years BC, however they stem from entirely different beginnings as well as traditions and parts of the world. The 12 animals are further flavored by the pervading element of that particular year (elements also revolve as a separate cycle). It is said that Buddha is responsible for the 12 animals as they were the only ones who came to bid him farewell into the next life. Chinese Astrology is concerned with nature and its traits, the signs progress year by year, whereas Western Astrology cycles monthly. The consideration of Yin and Yang is a very great influence upon this subject, Yin being passive, female and receptive while Yang is aggressive, male and exploratory. The various permutations of these 2 essential forces in nature, places, organizations, events and humanity and the quest to achieve balance so that both operate together in harmony rather than opposing or canceling each other out are an essentially Oriental viewpoint and quest, they form the basis of many Far Eastern traditions and other influences in Chinese Society such as Feng Shui. The 12 Animal Signs are : Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit (or Cat), Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat (or Sheep), Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig. The animal ruling year in which you were born has a profound influence on your life. As the Chinese say, This is the animal that hides in your heart. There are 5 elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water, each adding a nuance of almost tactile character to the animal sign.Chinese0Astrology is based on the Chinese0calendar year of your birth or the year of an event. There are also many more nuances involving the month and day.

China, in addition to being the homeland to the Han people and fifty-five other ethnic groups, is also the birth place for one of the world’s most consumed beverage- tea. Tea plants originated in China and were first used for medicinal purposes. It is believed that tea plants have been in existence in China for six thousand years already. Two thousand years ago, tea was developed as a drink. Since then, the Chinese learned to grow tea plants and to use the leaves as various types of tea that we drink today. Chinese tea leaves can be separated into five categories, green tea, black tea, oolong tea, scented tea, and compressed tea. Of the five categories of tea, green tea is probably the most well-known. It is an unfermented tea. Because green tea is not fermented, its tea leaves maintain its original and natural color. Some well known green tea include Longjing tea from Hangzhou’s West Lake region, Biluochun tea from Jiangsu, Maofeng tea from the Huangshan Mountains of Anhui Province, and Liu’an Guopian tea from Liu’an County of Anhui Province. The black tea, unlike what its name indicates, is actually red. In Chinese, it is pronounced as “hong cha”, which literally means the red tea. Unlike the green tea, it is fermented. Famous black tea includes keemua tea from Anhui Province and Dian black tea from Yunnan Province. Next is the oolong tea. It is half fermented. Its tea leaves, being loose and thick, are in shades of golden yellow. The most favored oolong tea is bohea tea, which is produced within the Fujian Province’s Wuyi Mountains. Other oolong tea may come from Guangdong and Taiwan. The fourth variety is the scented tea. It is found only in China. Scented tea is created by smoking tea leaves with fragrant flowers. Examples of such fragrant flowers are jasmine and magnolia. Of all scented tea, the jasmine tae, produced in Fujian Province, is most famous. Jasmine tea is also most popular with northern Chinese and foreigners. Lastly is the compressed tea, which is compressed and hardened into a certain shape. Compressed tea is suitable for storage and for transportation; thus it is mainly shipped to minority groups living in the border regions of China. Compressed tea can be separated into the tuo tea and the brick tea. The tuo tea is a bowl shaped compressed mass of tea leaves, produced in Yunnan and Sichuan. The brick tea is shaped similar to the shape of a brick. This type of tea is a favorite amongst the Mongolians and Tibetans. Today, tea has grown to become a daily necessity for Chinese people. In fact, it has become a way of way. Tea drinking can promote a healthier lifestyle and the chemical compounds found in certain tea, such as the green tea, have been discovered to inhibit growth of cancer cells. Since the thousand of years in which Chinese tea has been consumed, tea drinking is only becoming more and more popular in today’s society.

For business travelers in China, taxis are by far the most popular means of travel within a city. A cab ride is: Air-conditioned Safe Cheap-even in Shanghai, the first 3 km is just 11 RMB, about $1.40. Generally reliable. Most cab drivers in the big cities are reasonably competent, and in Shanghai they have GPS. Here are a few tips to make your China cab ride smooth and convenient: Call a cab by waving your arm, palm down. Do not ride in an unmarked “gypsy” cab. They wait at train stations and other places full of tourists. Stick to cabs owned by a big company, with a working meter, licensed driver, etc. Have your destination clearly written in Chinese characters or at least pinyin with tone marks. If your cell phone displays Chinese characters, have someone send the address in a text message. No cabbies speak English (if they spoke English, they wouldn’t be driving a cab). If you feel the driver is cheating you, or has failed to obey the Rules of Conduct (printed in English on the dashboard or Plexiglas screen), you can call the Complaint Hotline. This also should be clearly visible in the cab. ALWAYS take your receipt. If you feel that you have been cheated, or if you forget some luggage, the receipt is your only lifeline. Chinese cabbies often smoke, spit out the window, or play the radio too loud. This is technically not permitted, and they will stop if you complain. Still, these behaviors are very common in China. Maybe you can use your time in the cab to get accustomed to this. Peter Braden Build your China Office

Chinese herbs can be counted in their hundreds of millions. Every pharmacy in China is stacked with boxes inside which you can find the potions that make up traditional nutritional supplementation. Below are just a few of the most commonly known in the West: Aloe Vera Aloe Vera is a short-stemmed succulent plant which belongs to Lily family. More than 200 biologically active elements are presented in aloe vera. They include minerals, polysaccharides, proteins and amino acids, biological stimulators and vitamins. The extracts of aloe vera are used to stimulate the immune system, decreases the allergy symptoms and respiratory infections. Taken as a nutritional supplement(http://www.mitamins.com/), Aloe vera juice is effective in enhancing digestive functions, restores the balance of the stomach acids. As a gel, it is effectively used in treating athlete's foot, any forms of burns, bruises, muscular pains, varicose veins, herpes, eczema, pimples, diaper rash, wounds and cuts, hair loss, allergies, insect bites, furuncles, scleroderma, psoriasis and acne; it also acts as antifungal. But the major use of the aloe vera gel is in wounds healing therapies. Not just vitamins(http://www.mitamins.com/) can do that: natural plants can behave like vitamins too. Ginger The plant is valued for its root, thick knotted underground stem of a beige color. Depending on the variety, the root can also be red or white. One of them, gingerol, responsible for the root's distinctive flavor, is also the chemical that can prevent the growth of human colorectal cancer cells and also kill ovarian cancer cells. Ginger's hot action also promotes a healthy sweating, being so useful during the colds and flues and providing general detoxification. Ginger's anti-inflammatory action is a remedy for the people suffering from rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis. Aside from being taken as a nutritional supplement and vitamin complement(http://www.mitamins.com/), one can find ginger as a component in a variety of food and herbal preparations, from ginger bread to ginger sticks and ginger ale, often even give to children to calm stomach disorders.

The Chinese Zodiac and the Chinese Astrology Calendar Knowing your zodiac sign in relation to Chinese customs and traditions can explain a lot about your personality. Every person is represented by one of the 12 Chinese zodiac animals including the ox. These animals represent the 12 year, rotating cycle that's the basis of the Chinese zodiac. You've likely heard references about a specific year being the According to tales, these were the animals that came to Buddha (or the Jade Emperor, depending on the story you are talking about) in response to an invitation. The Chinese zodiac animals correspond to the animals' arrival order. Legends and tales characterizing each of the 12 animal's pilgrimage are slightly different, but the order that prevails is the following: rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, ram, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. The understanding most people have of the Chinese zodiac doesn't usually go very far beyond what they see on the paper place mats that are on the tables Chinese restaurants in their area. But there's really a lot more to understand and know about this ancient doctrine dating back more than 2,000 years. The Chinese zodiac is used as a guide to make a determination about the very best and most compatible matches between people in love and work. Each animal in the Chinese zodiac has specific animals with which they are thought to be most compatible. Chinese astrology compatibility can be used to figure out the best romantic match for people. It's imperative to remember there are other aspects of Chinese astrology beyond which animal represents you, that are additionally thought to be imperative in making a determination regarding the most compatible people. Chinese astrology can be dated back a few thousand years to early Chinese astronomy. Predictions of the Chinese astrology calendar are predicated on the Chinese calendar built by early Chinese astronomers. After some time, Chinese astrologists made an advanced belief system regarding how the celestial bodies effect the daily lives of people. The animals and the Chinese zodiac calendar result from Chinese astrology. The Chinese zodiac chart doesn't only deal with the 12 Chinese zodiac animals, but also has additional relationships that are more complex and elaborate. In addition to the 12 animals, the Chinese Zodiac involves 5 elements: metal, fire, wood, water and Earth. These elements are connected with the 5 major planets: Jupiter, Mercury, Mars, Venus, and Saturn. The connections presented by the elements and the animals actually merge to produce the 60-year rotation of the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac. This chart, along with Yin and Yang, directions, a person's date and time of birth, and the positions of the moon and sun are used to help see a person's future in more elaborate detail than merely using the zodiac animal as a guide. While the Chinese zodiac signs are significant, the manner in which the elements of the Chinese zodiac chart interact and collaborate have to be utilized in order to cultivate a complete understanding of anyone. To totally understand the Chinese Zodiac, it's important to also understand the relationship between all the Chinese zodiac elements, something that most people don't get from the typical overview of the Chinese zodiac.

Chinese calligraphy is an ancient art form stemming back to almost 3000 years ago. This style of writing is said to be abstract art. Many masters throughout Chinese history have left behind their own unique interpretation of the Chinese characters. It was Tu Mang, however, who correlated it all together with form identification and style. He established names for the techniques used to describe the words. For instance, a "carefree" style has an unfixed or unknown direction. On the opposite end, a "carefully executed" form insists on careful execution and thought behind the work. "Mysterious" is to use your imagination. There are 120 existing expressions used for Chinese calligraphy, many born by great masters. Chinese characters have been defined as complicated yet beautiful in their meaning. They are complex in relation to other writing languages. Romanization is used in terms of relation or simple visual information, however the meaning of the character remains mysterious as the art styles behind it. Some Chinese characters mimic similar tones of other characters, yet have different meanings. Some characters written with just an added dot or stroke, turn into something totally different. If your focus is art, then by all means, stick with the art only instructions, as there is so much to master within that form anyways. You will learn the different tools, mediums, and colors used for expressing your personality in depth on a simple surface. There are many diverse varieties of applications in Chinese calligraphy only to express one word. The results will refer to as a living moment, or living thought. And it is the results that loved and appreciated. Chinese calligraphy is a worthy and nice experience to launch into. Expect Countless hours of enjoyable practice into an ancient, respected, old world art. If you wish to learn Chinese calligraphy, then by all meanscontinue on.
