What are we thinking when we say to our children to learn well and become a successful lawyer, accountant or insurance agent?

The fact that they earn good money is what we see in front of us, right?

We want to think that wealth and good money will bring wellbeing too? They will feel secure and no worries again, right?

I'm sorry but ... We are wrong... Wrong and wrong again!

According to the new Australian sociologist's research, we are totally wrong and perhaps put our beloveds in real danger too...

Results clearly show that 16% of lawyer, accountant or insurance agents suffer from light or medium symptoms of depression.
Turns out that the number of depression sufferers significantly decrease if they consume alcohol or ... even worse, drugs?

I'm against both of them!!!
Moreover, interesting is that younger professionals are suffering more than their older and experienced colleges.

According the results of questioning of about 17,000 "dangerous professions" representatives, researchers formed the list of top 10 most depressive professions and guess who is in top??? ?

Yes, you are right, see yourself ... The Lawyers!?

1. Lawyers
2. Patent lawyers
3. Insurance agents
4. Accountants
5. Hi-Tech workers
6. Architects
7. Insurance company owners
8. Engineers
9. Consultants
10. Brokers

In the list I do not see the doctors, any kind of them ...
They probably know how to avoid the problem...
Now we have to think twice before we open the mouth...

World of Warcraft Enchanting Profession

James Bacon Arts Entertainment/Arts Entertainment 2007-03-17

In this article, I will show you how to make the most of your enchanting profession in the game of World of Warcraft. I will also give you helpful tips to further utilize this profession such as picking the best race.

Does race really matter if you’re an enchanting? The obvious answer is yes, but you’re wrong. Rogues have a stealth skill unlike the skill of the druid, rogues stealth are better and they can stealth again by using vanish in combat unlike the druid race.

Believe it or not, enchanting is best way to make gold in the game especially if you’re a rogue race. As a rogue, you can stealth through dungeons and straight for the boss. After you have downed the boss, it’ll drop a blue item which you can disenchant for a value of five plus gold. The best dungeon for a rogue and enchanting profession is Razorfen Downs. I can do five runs in less than 30 minutes. Each run will drop two or three blues which is around 15G per run. After five runs, you can get up to 75G in less than 30 minutes.

Honestly, I don’t use the enchanting professional itself as it’s supposed to be used. Instead of wasting time advertising your profession in the trade channel and doing enchants for about 10G per hour, you can use the disenchanting skill which you do not need to level up and earn up to 150G in an hour. As an enchanter, you would need to level your skill up to 300 in order to do the good enchants. So how long does it take and the money involved in leveling your profession skill to 300? It can take up to a week and 1000G.

The summary is don’t waste time leveling up your enchanting skill because it’s not worth it. Spend your time leveling up your character and spend your gold on your mount. Pick up the enchanting profession and roll a rogue in order to take advantage of the best profession in the game. James Bacon is the owner of World of Warcraft Cheats and plays World of Warcraft at least 8 hours per day.

Welding as a Profession

James Hunt Business/Careers 2008-05-05

In today’s society welding is one of the most sought after trades. Most companies and factories are looking to hire people who have had some form of training with regards to welding. Welding was not always this popular. At one time it was seen as a lower class profession and people, who were employed as welders, were not paid a high wage for the work that they do. However, today in society we see a different trend. The welding profession is considered a good trade and most welders are paid a good wage for the work that they do. Like any other profession there are variations in the amount of money that welders are being paid but this all depends on where you work and why type of welding work you do.

The area of welding itself dates back as far as 1885 when two people by the names of Nikolai Benardos and Stanislav Olszewski invented the first electric arc welder. They were granted the patent for their invention a few years later. This welder was called an electric arc welder that had a carbon electrode called an Electrogefest. These two are men are considered to be the founders and creators of the modern welder that we see being used today as all models of welders came from the first that was created.

There are some people that are completely sure what welding actually is. There are a variety of definitions of welding but the most commonly used definition states that welding is a technique that is used to join metallic parts usually through the application of heat. So in a sense it is the art of burning to metals together in some way. Welding was first discovered during efforts to manipulate iron into useful shapes.

Religion Has Become a Profession

Religion has become a profession

If we go deep, we shall find that here in India religion has become a profession, trade, calling and employment and people are earning from religion and they are turning rich. We have noted that a large number of people have established aasharams, matths and deras here in India and they could collect large number of devotees around us who are offering money to them and they are prospering.
The people of India had been religious people and even today they are believing in one of the religions and they are staunch religious people. The people who are experts in religions and the principles, they have started delivering discourses to the people collected around them. They are establishing themselves as fore-tellers and that is the reason the people are getting their forecasts from these people. They have started treating the people and at the same time they are telling the people that all the religions are one and there is no distinction between the religions. All the religions are telling us that there is one and only one God and we all are His children. This principle is most attractive and that is the reason people from all the sides are collecting around these so-called saints and sadhus. If we assess the properties and other assets of these saints, we shall be surprised to note that they too are running governments. They have got hundreds of people permanently employed there and serving them. They are living life of kings and that is the reason all evils of rajas, maharajas and monarchs are coming in them and if we go deep into the news, these units are not right for the people.
The people of India must understand that religion should be our personal matter and we should not turn this line into a profession, trade, calling and employment and therefore, the state must close down all these matths, aasharams and deras and each religion should have a committee like shromani Gurdwara Parbancdhak committee established under the law and only those committees be allowed to open and establish a religious places for the people and their accounts be maintained properly and subjected to audit. No one should be allowed to adopt religion as a profession, trade, calling and employment. No one should be allowed to earn from religion and maintain himself on this earning. Every one should be praying before God himself and none should deploy others for conducting religious ceremonies and prayers for him and on his behalf. The people must be told that when others conduct religious ceremonies and conduct prays for them, they are actually not praying for the person who had deployed them, but they shall offer prayers for themselves. The people must understand the relations between them and God. When they are real sons and daughters of God, they shall need no third person to introduce them to God.

Profession of a Designer

If you are going to take up a career of a professional designer, you must know some important facts about this profession. The positive thing of this profession is that it gives you challenges, gives you possibilities to create and get satisfaction from fulfilled the task seeing the results of your work. However, design industry is growing in great paces worldwide. Competition is number one in this sphere and you are to be the best to become successful and get the job. Besides, the advertisement influences our lives greatly. Another fact is that a designer can use it in an ethical way or visa versa. Indeed, the design profession has a high under-employment rate. That is why it is really difficult to find a good job with decent salary at a design company, to make up a good advertisement.

In fact, profession of a designer consists of several ones as it demands communicational, technical, analytical, artistic and advertisement skills. You must be really a good designer having necessary qualifications and most importantly necessary skills to obtain a good job. There are no regulations in designer sphere and everyone can say he is a designer and use unethical advertisement programs. Such designers can perform their work bad making company directors paying lower salaries to others. He will not pay you a good salary being unsure in the quality of your work. In addition universities accept many people who want to become designers overcrowding the designer market.

A designer is a craftsman of his affair. He must have talent and an understanding of the today’s world. He is a professional in ‘visual communication’. The role of a designer consists in the creation of images, languages to display some messages and to reach his purposes. It is a pity that all the above mentioned things can be nothing without good advertisement. He needs to use some advertisement programs to find a work. A designer is a craftsman who operates in a completely new way mastering language and image means, mixing traditional knowledge of a subject and personal ideas, realizing communication tools. Communication and sales skills are significant for this profession if you want to be successful.

Designers work many hours and to meet a deadline they have to work overtime. This work requires hard work with deadlines. You must be sure you can work this way to take up the designer career. If you still want to become a designer you should decide what type of a designer you want to choose. A designer requires much more than just the talent in drawing. This profession requires attention to technical side of a matter, communication with clients and directors, and surely advertisements.

Nowadays, visual communication professionals possessing technological and managerial skills issue the challenge to perform not only designers’ tasks but also fulfilling the role of art directors and managers, advertising own projects in order to take root to international markets. Today, designers must solve difficult designers’ tasks – planning team activities, managing public relations, clients’ problems and producing ethical advertisement.

Thus, a profession of a designer is the combination of personal creative abilities and technical knowledge of a subject. It is a mix of cultural knowledge with analytical abilities. A real designer is a person who understands the dynamics and the inner context of his affair. He is the one who generates the visual presentation and design of goods. Designers usually work on a project under great time pressure and defined financial and design limits. To perform work of a high quality a designer must unite the best parts of different sources into some image. Besides, this work assumes the use of research material and price specifications, the ability to meet deadlines, financial restrictions, creation of a number of work samples and sketches displaying several work models from different points of view.

I think it is not so easy to be a designer, to take a note of comments concerning own projects, to have a good understanding of today’s world and its demands, to create several sketches of the same work. Also, the work of a designer assumes some amount of project rejects, period of success and failures. The work of designers means understanding your clients’ wishes, helping them in achieving their goals by focusing on things that can be fulfilled, translating these purposes into work projects. A designer must value tradition as well as creativity, change, improvement, and relevance to the modern time. This work can be compared to the work of an artist: you fully depend on your talent, your abilities and fortune. Sometimes it is an exhausting work: working long time on a project, endless meeting with people and collaborators. The life of a designer is unpredictable and can change suddenly both in good and bad way. Sometimes you are successful and earn great money having the opportunity to choose client, sometimes you have failures and cannot find a single client.

Is Management a Profession?

Joe Farcht Business/Management 2007-08-14
View Detail

I get called to fix people problems and I'm really good at that. However, most often the person I'm helping has a supervisor or executive team member who has huge gaps in their own management skills. For example here are some of the deficiencies I observe:

Lack of knowledge and application of that knowledge regarding the differences in people otherwise know as personality differences

Stagnant professional development

Deficient skills in the areas of providing and getting feedback, coaching for improvement, delegating, holding people accountable, listening, etc.

Engaging in ineffective and unproductive behaviors

Poor interviewing and new employee selection knowledge and skills

Holding onto thoughts and attitudes that hurt morale and efficiency of the workplace

The question is, "Is Management a Profession?" The only answer is YES! In many professions like health care and medicine, members are continually learning new treatments, techniques, medicines, procedures, and continually honing their professional skills.

They can't neglect growth, development, and professional advancement or they will become outdated. At worst, an oversight board of professionals learns of some professional neglect and out goes their license to practice in that profession.

If management is a profession, why aren't managers at all levels of organizations constantly aspiring to improve and become better managers? Why is it that they exhibit the deficiencies I listed above? Are they not being held accountable for their professional development? Are they waiting for the company to invest in their training and development? Are they too busy working to engage in development activities?

There are some very significant benefits associated with self-development as a manager. You will notice an increase in your self-esteem because you will be developing and using more of your undeveloped potential and greatness.

You will feel like you are making progress in your life and according to Abraham Maslow that is living at the self-actualization level of motivation.

These two benefits relate directly to a person's emotional intelligence and a manager's emotional intelligence can contribute up to 40% of their success at work. Is self-development beneficial? You bet!

If you are a professional, you will seek and find the resources you need to overcome every deficiency and area for improvement that you identify. A professional invests in his or her own training and development.

As a rule of thumb, you should be investing one to two percent of your wages in professional development leading to more complete knowledge and competency development.

Wake up managers. It's time to move out and become the very best manager you can become. The resources are there. You only need to choose, change what you thought and did in the past, and begin traveling toward professional excellence. Do it now!

The Trucking Profession Gets Healthier

Lacey Swanson Health Fitness/Health Fitness 2007-09-25
View Detail
Truckers are more at risk for obesity and other health problems because of their profession. Many truckers are obese, eat unhealthy fast food, half of them smoke, and 1 in 4 have sleep apnea. This dangerous profession accounts for 15 percent of all work related accidents in the nation.

With these statistics in mind, a recent report may help the government change regulations for truck drivers’ health. Although truck drivers are tested every year, restricting those who have high blood pressure or heart problems to maintain their licenses, other aspects of drivers' health, like weight and smokers, aren't regulated. However, many companies are already stepping up their efforts to improve employees’ health.

An Associated Press check of companies revealed these programs:

-Celadon Group Inc. encourages its 3,200 drivers in the U.S. and Canada to get blood pressure and cholesterol checks with the stationed nurses at its main facility in Indianapolis. Doctors are on call if needed, and Celadon pays all expenses. The company says the program has helped trim its $10 million annual health care bill.

-Melton Truck Lines Inc. replaced sodas in the Tulsa, Okla., headquarters offers a 12-week weight loss program. They also replaced sodas in vending machines with water, green tea, and diet drinks.

-Con-way Freight of Ann Arbor, Mich., implemented a trial wellness program two years ago. As a result, they saw annual workers compensation claims plunge 80 percent and lost work days drop 75 percent in Los Angeles. Now the leaders of the programs are being hired at other hub offices.

-Schneider National Inc. of Green Bay, Wis., attacked the common problem among truckers, sleep apnea. They screened 10,000 of its 15,000 drivers for apnea, a disorder that interferes with breathing during sleep and can leave the sufferer groggy and exhausted. The 10 percent who had the disorder were supplied with special air masks to help them sleep.

As a result of the health incentive programs, some drivers are responding by working out at loading stations, lifting weights in their trucks, eating and stocking healthy food in mini-fridges in their trucks, looking for healthy food alternatives on the road, cooking for themselves, and walking laps around their rigs (32 times around an 18-wheeler is a mile).

If you are looking for Swift trucking jobs, are a new truck driver, or are experienced at trucking, remember to be healthy and help replace the unhealthy stereotype of truckers everywhere.

The Profession of Forensic Pathology

Fabiola Castillo Internet Business/Blogging 2007-12-16
View Detail
Determining the cause, mechanism, and manner of death takes an intimate knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and pathology. Pathologists, doctors of medicine who specialize in studying the diseases that affect the human body, are the persons responsible for performing autopsies. CSI: Miami and NCIS fans know these people as the characters, Dr. Alex Woods and Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard, respectively.

Pathology, the study of disease, is a postdoctoral medical specialty that dates back to the 19th century. By the latter half of the 20th century, pathologists began branching out into individual subspecialties. It was not until 1959 that forensic pathology became a board-certified specialty.

The forensic pathologist is concerned with the study of medicine as it applies to criminal law. Moreover, the forensic pathologist is more likely to deal with injuries. More than 50 percent of the cases he deals with involve death caused by the onset of disease. He is qualified to perform autopsies that yield evidence that he must attest to in open court as his professional opinion.

In order for someone to become a full-fledged forensic pathologist, one must undergo years of training in college. It takes approximately 13 years of training before he can work as a member of a CSI team. He must complete four years of undergraduate work. Another four years of medical school. Another four years of pathology residency. And finally, one year of fellowship in forensic pathology. He must be board-certified by taking an examination administered by the American Board of Pathology.

The forensic pathologist is at the top of the pyramid of the forensic system of investigation. However, the work of this profession is not all clean and tidy like working a desk job and pushing pencils all day. This profession requires you to be exposed to a deceased person's bodily fluids, smell, and disease. It can also be rewarding, fascinating, and intellectually stimulating.

Once a person becomes a forensic pathologist, he is eligible to work as a medical examiner or coroner. His duties will include examining dead bodies to ascertain the cause, mechanism, and manner of death; perform autopsies; supervise the pathology lab; and perhaps run the entire crime lab. He must be called to the scene of the crime at any hour of the day since criminals rarely keep a 9-to-5 schedule. His job description also entails assisting law enforcement officials with body search-and-recover procedures and providing expert testimony in criminal court. He must be a fully licensed doctor of medicine in the state in which he practices as a forensic pathologist and have extensive knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, anthropology, dentistry, microscopy, x-ray and lab testing, evidence rules and court procedures, crime scene evaluation, and local, state, and federal laws.

The Chronicles of Law Profession

Rainier Policarpio Law/law 2007-09-10
View Detail
There are no accounts of when exactly the legal profession flourished. However, history says that long before the Common Era, people depended on individuals who were knowledgeable of their laws to defend their arguments in courts when they got into conflicts with others. These law experts and defenders are those who have emerged today as lawyers or attorneys.

When we speak of laws, it does not necessarily mean that we should only tackle those rules and regulations set by the authorities. Dealing with it implies understanding the concepts of justice, human rights and responsibilities to others and most especially the accepted rights and wrongs in the society. It is therefore more precise to think of law as the application of principles that are assumed just and appropriate in a specific dealing or situation.

Today, we may say that the legal professionals are segregated in their particular line of specialization since a single lawyer may not have the capacity to focus his attention in all the broad issues defining law practice. Some of the major areas of law are:

• International law • Constitutional law • Criminal law • Cyber law • Business law • Labor law • Family law • Immigration law • Intellectual Property law • Military law • Maritime law • Statutory law • Social Security law • Tort law • Taxation law

These laws are subdivided into even more specific terms to address a particular concern of an individual or entity. This listing also signifies the intricate and all-encompassing aspect of human laws that has been utilized to set a standard on how the citizens should act in a certain state or society.

Aside from this list, lawyers concentrate on their practice depending on their preferences and particular skills. For example, legal professionals who are quite at ease with articulating themselves in public and have that exemplary talent in thinking and responding to certain issues promptly and suitably are well fitted to be trial lawyers. Like any other legal field of specialization, this also involves lots of paper works, investigative tasks and strategic planning.

On the other hand, some lawyers focus their attention in assisting the injured victims of accidents, malpractice or negligence in filing their charges against the offenders. Hence, they provide their services to recover suitable damages from the defendants or the insurance companies.

Lawyers specializing in the criminal law are those who either prosecute or defend their clients in the courtroom. Yet, they handle cases that involve not just monetary considerations if proven guilty but also stricter penalties such as community service, imprisonment and even death sentence.

Nevertheless, lawyers are not tasked by the society to design, create and implement the laws. Their main obligation and duty is more on applying the laws – to ensure that the clients will be properly guided and represented on their particular legal concerns or cases. This will explain their vital role in upholding justice and fairness in the society.

Finally, the extensive studies and trainings that lawyers undergo before they actually exercise their profession make them worthy of such recognition. Besides, the fact that they were able to pass the strict standards of the government agencies and the American Bar Association in issuing professional licenses is enough to establish their credits to perform their jobs.

Log on to our website and consult your legal concerns with an experienced lawyer specializing in personal injury, employment law, social security disability and business law cases.

Nursing as a profession

dave4 Business/Careers 2008-05-05

Nursing is a highly regarded profession with high standards of honesty and ethics amongst various other professions. Nursing has emerged as the largest health care occupation with over 2.7 million jobs. With over 100,000 vacant positions and a ever-growing need for health care workers, the career outlook is excellent for the nursing field. National Center for Workforce Analysis, an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services predicts a shortage of 808,416 nurses by the year 2020. Such an analysis and prediction is backed by very strong reasoning and findings. Advancement in technology and medical field has resulted in an increased life span. Elderly population is now living longer and more of them will require care and nursing. With more elderly people in need of such care, demands rise for nursing force that can meet such needs. Also, the need for more skilled nurses is growing. With insurance companies stepping into the medical field to reduce the cost of health care expenditure, demand for nurses, outside the hospital setting has also risen. Not to forget that the current nursing workforce is aging and many are expected to retire over next 10-15 years only to create a void, adding to the shortage further. So, nurses with a BSN degree can expect a securer career and better job prospects.

Nurses blend knowledge of science and technology with the art of care and compassion. Nursing provides opportunity to save and improve lives, care for the sick and debilitated, educate patients and people towards achieving good health and above all, the feeling of helping someone in their hour of illness and need. There is no greater service than caring for the sick and needy. Nurses are required to deliver basic duties, which includes but is not limited to providing treatment, health education, emotional support, record maintenance, operating medical equipment in addition to counseling patient and their family about the management of their illness. Registered Nurses (RNs) also run general health screening and immunization clinics, organize public seminars, motivate blood donation drives, etc. Three out of five nurses in the United States work in hospitals. Most of the others work in clinics, home health, extended care settings, schools, colleges, universities, the public health services, and nonprofit agencies throughout the United States and many other countries. Nursing can be a challenging job with continuous exposure to grief and suffering, stress, work pressures, little or excessive patient contact and occupational hazards including but not limited to infectious diseases, radiation exposure, accidental needle sticks, chemicals, anesthesia, back injury and emotional stress. Role autonomy and independence, innovativeness, technical knowledge, and teamwork are characteristics of this job, in addition to personal satisfaction and professional rewards.

The nursing schools are a gateway to this profession and almost all of them require a high school diploma in addition to sound academic standing in English, Algebra, Biology, Chemistry, and Psychology with a GPA score of atleast 3. Computer experience is an asset. Leadership and organization skills are vital to this profession. Most schools shall still require you to clear the National League for Nursing (NLN) Pre-admission exam besides the SAT exam. Over 1,500 nursing programs in the US provide three different educational paths towards becoming a Registered Nurse (RN). Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is a four-year program offered at colleges and universities. An associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) is a two-year program offered at many community and junior colleges. Some hospital schools of nursing and universities offer an ADN degrees. Hospital Diploma is a two to three year program based in hospital settings. Many diploma schools are affiliated with junior colleges where students take basic science and English requirements. Opportunities are maximum with a BSN degree. BSN is a requirement for obtaining a master's degree or becoming an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN). The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) recognizes the BSN degree as the minimum educational requirement for a professional nursing practice. Even though graduates can begin practice as an RN with an ADN or diploma, the BSN degree is a must for nurses seeking to assume roles as case-managers or supervisors or move across employment settings. Tuition fee depends on your college and state of residence, but financial aids and scholarships are available to take care of such needs. There are technical and vocational schools as well, which provide one-year course towards becoming a Practical Nurse or a Vocational Nurse. Once graduated, the next important thing is to obtain licensure for practice in the State of your preference. Eighteen states participate in the Nurse Licensure Compact Agreement (NCLA) which permits a licensed nurse to practice in any of the other seventeen states, if they have obtained license to practice in one of the states. License can be obtained by passing national licensing exam NCLEX-RN for becoming a Registered Nurse and NCLEX-PN for becoming Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) as in Texas, California. LPN and LCN provide care for sick, injured and disabled under direct supervision of physicians and RNs.

Nursing career is full of opportunities for those who want to specialize and pursue higher education. A few popular specialties are AIDS Care Nurse, Ambulatory Care Nurse, Cardiac Rehabilitation Nurse, Case Management, Correctional Nurse, Enterostomal Therapy Nurse, Gastroenterology/Endoscopy Nurse, Genetics Nurse, Infection Control Nurse, Intravenous Therapy Nurse, long-term Care Nurse, Managed Care Nurse, Nephrology Nurse and more, the list does not end here. Most of the specialties do welcome RNs with a BSN degree only. In addition, there is increasing demand for APNs. APNs are primary health care practitioners, working independently or in collaboration with physicians. In most states, they are permitted to prescribe medications. The four specializations for APNs include Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) providing expert consultation in any of the above mentioned specialties; Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) administer anesthesia and monitor patient's vital signs during surgery in addition to providing post-anesthesia care; Nurse Midwives (CNM) provide primary care to females covering aspects like family planning, prenatal care, neonatal care and assist delivery; and Nurse Practitioners (NP) who provide basic preventive health care to patient. NPs are primary as well as specialty care providers in medically underserved areas. APNs are lower cost primary care providers in comparison to physicians.

Advanced degrees available to nurses are masters (MSN), doctoral degree (Ph.D., EdD, DNS) and post-doctoral programmes. Doctoral degrees can provide placements as a senior policy analyst, researcher, health system executive and as a nursing school dean.

RNs may work as a staff nurse or become APNs. Also exisins are a few positions involving little or no direct patient contact. Such positions include Case Managers, Forensic Managers (applying knowledge of nursing for legal enforcement, like treating and investigating a victim of assault or abuse and similar), Infection Control Nurses, Legal Nurse Consultants (assist lawyers in medical cases by interviewing patient, organizing records, and educating lawyers about medical conditions), Nurse Administrators, Nurse Informatics, Health Care Consultants, Public Policy Advisors, Medical editors and writers.

Career and job prospects are bright as mentioned above and with increasing demand and difficulty to hold up nurses in hospitals, many hospitals and corporate sectors have now started offering incentives like signing bonuses, subsidized training, open shift bidding. Open shift bidding is an emerging concept where nurses can find vacant shifts at premium wages and bid for same online. This also reduces mandatory overtime that many nurses have to do otherwise. Many employers now provide family friendly work schedules and flexibility, again an indication of demand in such places.

RNs are earning anywhere from $37,300 to greater than $74,760 depending upon qualifications and experience, besides job locations. Median salary can be appreciated as $52,330 annually. Entry level RN can earn from $30,000 to $45,000 annually. All this comes with benefit packages including health insurance, holiday pay, college tuition reimbursement, childcare, pension plans and much more. Expected shortage of nurses over coming years is going to tilt the situation more in the favor of nurses and they can look forward to a securer future with brighter prospects and rewards.

Becoming a nurse is not just about money but dedicating your life to service mankind, caring for the sick and to be able to support them and their family in difficult times. The potential is enormous and specialization options aplenty. Nursing as a profession is full of personal satisfaction and professional rewards.

Permanent Cosmetics As A Profession

Terry Lively Reference Education/Reference Education 2007-11-25

Permanent cosmetics involve the use of tattoos as cosmetics. Rather than apply your lipstick and eyeliner every morning, and then touch it up all day long, you have your lips and eyes permanently tattooed so that they need no maintenance at all. In fact, you can have your whole face made up perfectly, to include eyebrows, eyeliner, eye shadow, and full lip color, so that you need never use cosmetics again. Professionals and stay at home mothers alike will have hours of more free time every day, while still looking their best.

This is at one end of the scale. The other is the man or woman who has been involved in an accident, leaving unsightly scars. What can be done in this situation? A technique called scar camouflage can be used to make some scars less apparent. Pigment can be matched to the client’s natural skin tones to even out the light colored scar tissue. While not completely covering a scar, it can make it less apparent.

Of course this is just a cosmetic change, however to this client it can totally change their life and and help them gain self confidence in public. Would it not make you feel warm inside to know that it might have been you that changed that person’s life? Permanent cosmetics can make that change, so would it not make a wonderful career? Absolutely!

So let’s say you did want to take up this worthwhile skill as a professional. What is involved in permanent cosmetics training and licensing? Are there real opportunities available , or is it a closed shop? In fact there are many opportunities available for individuals of different backgrounds. People as diverse as doctors, nurses, tattoo artists, and cosmetologists are expressing an interest in this remarkable art, having seen first hand how life-changing its effects can be. State laws vary, and the first step in your journey would be to check your state laws regarding educational and licensing requirements. Ususally the state department of health oversees permanent cosmetic licensing.

What types of skills are required? Many of the procedures used are artistic, such as drawing beautiful eyebrows. Others require paramedical skills and some knowledge of medical issues. A good eye for skin tones and color matching helps. Most of these skills are taught in beginning and advanced permanent makeup classes. The secret is finding good education !

Once you have been suitably trained, imagine owning your own clinic and operating in conjunction with other professionals such as physicians, estheticians, makeup artists, etc. The opportunities are almost unlimited. Referral business is the name of the game ! Once you establish your good reputation in the community, then business will come from all directions.

Cosmetics of any sort are currently big business and offer many opportunities for high earnings. Pricing for permanent makeup procedures ranges from $300 to $800 per procedure, depending on many factors. Those working in a physicians' clinic usually charge more than those working in a salon or day spa. A tattoo artist or cosmetologist may charge less, however still command prices in the range of $300 to $400 per procedure. How many people do you personally know who can earn an average of $200 to $300 per hour?

Imagine the potential of being able to offer permanent cosmetics, and even having these procedures done on yourself? No more need to open that lipstick tube. No more spending ages in front of the mirror each morning. Just a quick shower and off to the clinic or gym!

However, that is the personal side of the career. It is also satisfying to help others like the client with facial scarring whose life was transformed by the use of a camouflage technique. Not all rewards are paid in cash. These are the potential benefits of a career in permanent cosmetics. The fun of setting up a group or practice of like-minded people offering a complete cosmetic service, and owning your own business. The potential high earnings to secure your future. The more intangible rewards of providing real help to people in real need.

Your training should be professional and offered by an educator who has a good reputation and credentials in the industry. The Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals can help you find a suitable course and permanent cosmetics training school that will turn you into the professional that you want to be. After reviewing the the SPCP's guildelines on choosing a school, you will be well prepared to begin your search for education.

If you choose your instructor well, and work hard to gain the skills and artistry needed to perfect your technique, then the clients will come ! Permanent cosmetics is a very rewarding profession and one that you will never regret entering.

Terry Lively is a licensed makeup artist and skin care specialist in the State of Texas. She has done permanent makeup for 10 years. She is an approved trainer with the Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals. She is also an OSHA approved outreach trainer. Visit Terry's site at Permanent Cosmetics Training.

Are You In The Right Profession?

cdmohatta Business/Business 2008-05-05

All of us are busy working in a particular area to earn our living. Some of us are business persons and some are employed. Some are engineers, others doctors, carpenters and so on. We have painters, architects, firemen and all types of professionals.

The question is - Why did you choose a particular profession? Were you tested scientifically in our childhood about your aptitude, or whether it was your family profession, or you wanted to become one because you had fancy for that, or you had nothing else to chose so you chose your current profession?

Along the way in life, we stop asking these questions and continue doing what we are doing. We never think about why we are doing a particular kind of job. We never look around for total change in the job. For example - an engineer would very rarely think about dropping out of his/her profession and becoming a full time musician. Why?

why most of us do not think about changing our profession altogether? Why do not we think in that direction at all? One reason is to maintain status quo, which gives us comfort. We want to live in our comfort zone. The second reason is that we never question ourselves- Am I in a profession that I like fully? Can I choose another profession that will give me more success and joy?

Please think about what I have said and rethink about your profession. You may find something else that may give you not only satisfaction but great success.

The Travel Nursing Profession in Brief

Ti- Grant Eckert Business/Careers 2008-05-05
View Detail
Travel nursing is a wonderful way to merge the nursing profession that you love, with a fondness for travel, meeting new people, and gaining new experiences. You can travel to and work in different locations and medical facilities around the country as a travel nurse or as a travel nursing professional. By joining an agency for traveling nursing professionals, you can gain the experiences of meeting people and seeing the landscapes of different areas and develop a broader range of nursing skills by working in the top notch medical facilities scattered throughout the nation. The travel nursing profession offers you the opportunity to share your skill and compassion as a nursing professional with people from all over.

Travel nursing is unlike most other forms of business travel. Usually with travel for business purposes there is little leisure time available between business meetings, conventions, tradeshows, and the like, for treats such as sightseeing excursions, shopping, and entertainment experiences. But in the travel nursing profession you will be living and working in the areas you accept assignments to. When you are not working, you will be able to take in the sights and soak up the local cultures, shop, dine, and attend the entertainment and sporting events held in different regions, which makes traveling away from home so exciting.

Don't grab a suitcase, throw in some clothes, and head out for destinations unknown expecting that any hospital or medical facility you walk into will have a position just waiting for you. The travel nursing profession is open to a variety of nursing professionals from RN's, and LPN's to Radiologists, Physical, Occupational, and Speech therapists and other nursing professionals. But there is a process involved and requirements that must be met before you can begin working in the travel nursing profession. You must have successfully graduated from an accredited US or Canadian nursing program. You will be required to keep your nursing license current, and if you are entering to work in the United States from Canada, you will need to provide proof of a valid nursing license and a valid work permit for working in the United States. Furthermore, keep in mind that each state has its own requirements for allowing out-of-state health care professionals to practice within their borders that must be met before you can begin working in that state.

Some people may try to persuade you into thinking that you do not need to join a travel nursing profession agency. Although you most certainly can put yourself through the lengthy and cumbersome process yourself, there are many hoops to jump through in order to inquire about their regulations and asking for applications to be sent to you. However, remember that you will need to fill these out and mail them back to the agencies that sent them to you, and then wait for a notice that your applications have been accepted. All of this work and you have not even contacted any of the hospitals and other medical facilities in that state to inquire if they have positions for traveling nursing professionals. You may even be unable to secure the no cost lodging that is made available to many members of the travel nursing profession belonging to professional travel nursing profession agencies. It is true as well that many hospitals and other medical facilities prefer working with travel nursing professionals affiliated with a travel nursing profession agency over those traveling professionals that approach them on their own.

A professional agency representing the travel nursing profession simplifies the process of finding and requesting applications from state nursing regulatory agencies around the country, and also provides many other benefits to its members. They are in contact with top notch hospital and medical facilities from around the country and they are knowledgeable about the positions that are open to travel nursing professionals wanting to work in those states. They are also more able to secure no cost lodging arrangements, high pay and bonuses for the travel nursing professionals they serve. You can learn more about the agencies that represent travel nursing professionals and about the travel nursing profession online. Of course you should check out the credentials of any travel nursing profession agency before giving them your personal information in the same way that you need to protect yourself and your personal information using the internet.

The travel nursing profession pays well and the demand for traveling nursing professionals is large with the nursing shortages that are occurring throughout the United States. Travel nursing is a wonderful way to broaden your skills as a nursing professional as you work in a variety of nursing faculties and with different nursing professionals. It is an excellent way to experience meeting new people and learning about the cultural flavors in different areas. The travel nursing profession is a perfect merging of providing those in need with quality health care, and traveling to regions you have always wanted to see and experience.
