Painting taken factually is the practice of applying color balanced in a vehicle (or medium) and a binding agent (a glue) to a surface (support) such as paper, canvas ,wood panel or a wall. On the other hand, when used in an creative sense it means the use of this activity in combination with drawing, composition and further artistic considerations in order to manifest the expressive and conceptual meaning of the practitioner. Painting is also used to state spiritual motifs and ideas; sites of this kind of painting range from artwork depicting legendary figures on pottery to The Sistine Chapel to the human body itself. Colour is the essence of painting as sound is of music. Colour is highly subjective, but has apparent emotional effects, although these can differ from one civilization to the next. Black is associated with grief in the West, but elsewhere white may be. Some painters, theoreticians, writers and scientists, including Goethe, Kandinsky, Newton, have written their own colour theory. Furthermore the use of language is only a generalisation for a colour equivalent. The word "red", for example, can cover a wide range of variations on the unadulterated red of the spectrum. There is not a formalised register of different colours in the way that there is conformity on different notes in music, such as C or C#, although the Pantone system is widely used in the printing and design industry for this purpose. Current artists have extended the practice of painting significantly to include, for example, collage. This began with Cubism and is not painting in strict sense. Some modern painters incorporate different materials such as sand, cement, straw or wood for their texture. Examples of this are the works of Jean Dubuffet or Anselm Kiefer. Modern and contemporary art has moved away from the historic value of craft in favour of thought; this has led some to say that painting, as a serious art form, is dead, although this has not deterred the greater part of artists from continuing to practise it either as whole or part of their shirt.

What is portrait painting? This can be explained as follows: This kind of painting typically depicts a person's face, from there, the word "portrait" originates. Furthermore, there are many portraits, old and new ones, on which you can see the portraitee's whole body. A portrait is painted with the intention to show all characteristics and features. The painter tries to emphasize these details in a portrait. Upon the portraitee's request, little blemishes and other visible details can be omitted once in a while. They are simply kept "secret" as painters would call it. Already in ancient times (four thousand years BC) high standing personalities had themselves preserved for posterity. Portrait painting originated in ancient Egypt, as many pictures in the pyramids of deceased show, but only in Greece this genre came to perfection. However, portrait painting was pushed into the background for a long time (until Renaissance) in favor of sculpture. The main period of portrait painting only began with the Italian painting of high Renaissance, e. g. by artists like Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raffael and Tizian. In the following centuries, portrait painting blossomed totally. For example, in the 17th century, Peter Paul Rubens was a contract painter in great demand. The ones who could afford it had themselves preserved for posterity by this painter of Baroque, who was already those days well known. Today, only a few people can afford an original painting made by an artist's hand. And an original Rubens painting is even more utopia. With the introduction of photography in the 19th and 20th centuries and the modern communication methods portrait painting changed fundamentally. Since then, also "normal" people, who are striving for a little bit of preservation, and who want to have themselves or their beloved ones painted on a canvas, can have it done at affordable prices. In today's contract painting, especially portraits of children, grandchildren, parents and grandparents are very popular. In addition to that, depictions of beloved domestic animals, fancy cars or favorite landscapes are widely asked for. Nowadays, the ones who can afford it, order a portrait painting as an individual birthday present. Good painters paint these portraits in such a precise way that their similarity with the originals is astonishing and almost have the effect of photos. Even changes are possible according to individual demands Upon request, small blemishes can be omitted, as we have already mentioned above. What characterizes a good portrait painter? A portrait painter must be able to paint a person with all his important features. He must be able to depict exactly what is really visible. You cannot simply go and change a portraitee's features, because then the result would no longer be a portrait. In the moment of portrayal, the person who has himself portrayed offers the painter a special depiction of himself with his own details and features. Good painters are able to reach exactly this what has been described above. This characterizes them.

As an artist, Rebecca Latham as well as her mother, Karen, and sister, Bonnie, strive for detail in their painting. Studying with a Flemish master, they have developed their styles for painting extreme realism. Their works, both large and small, are painted “in miniature”. Early Beginnings Miniature painting is a traditional style of art that is very detailed, often referred to as painting or working “in miniature”. Because of their origins as illuminations, they are also painted to have as smooth of a surface as possible. (It is also suggested that miniature art may have been influenced by the medals of ancient Rome as well) Miniature art can be traced back to ancient Egyptian manuscripts on papyrus scrolls. Monks are also often highlighted for their contributions to early miniature painting with their beautifully illuminated manuscripts such as the Celtic Book of Kells and England's Lindisfarne Gospels (both of which measure around 9" x 12"). Some early manuscripts contain miniature paintings on their pages that depict beautiful arrangements of life sized flower arrangements on their borders. The history of miniature painting is also seen throughout the world in various other cultures. Miniature painting began out of necessity for illustrating documents and manuscripts to aid those reading them during a time when many were not able to, before printing was invented. The miniature helped to convey the story and meaning of the written word. Therefore, the art of miniature painting is directly connected to the book arts. The various sized illuminations (pictures) were cut out of these books or documents so that they could be carried more easily. Later, developing from the carried miniature, portrait miniature artists were commissioned to paint small portraits – paintings that were used as we use wallet sized photographs today. These sizes of miniature paintings became popular with collectors and are often referred to as “hand held miniatures”. Portrait miniatures were painted in larger sizes as well, for example master miniaturist, Nicholas Hilliard, Peter Oliver, and Sir Charles William Ross all painted works that were of a larger size. Sizes Miniature painting is sometimes confused and assumed that the pieces must be small or depict subjects on a smaller scale to be considered miniature art, though this is not the case. It is helpful to keep in mind that the origins of the term "miniature" have nothing to do with a size. The word miniature comes from the terms 'minium' (used for the red lead paint used in illuminated manuscripts) and 'miniare' (Latin for 'to color with red lead'). Miniature painting is a style and technique of painting, and as such, a wall sized work could be painted “in miniature”. Authors of the Yale University Press publication, “The English Miniature” have stated that miniatures have been painted large and some works are even considered to be gigantic. Numerous faculty members of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London confirm that miniature paintings are not restricted to smallness. Larger sized miniature paintings are documented throughout history and are recognized today, though painting larger works in miniature is more difficult and time consuming than a smaller piece if the same attention to detail is observed. Miniature art is also unique in that it was and is often used on objects, such as the Russian lacquer boxes that are beautiful examples of Russian miniature painting. Exhibitions Today, there are miniature art societies in western society to help promote and preserve traditional miniature art and the “spirit of miniature”. Their exhibitions feature the hand held miniature paintings (or sculptures) and each exhibition has its own unique guidelines and rules for artists showing in their exhibit. Some of these rules limit the size of work to be no larger than a set square inch. Others limit the size of a subject, such at the 1/6th scale rule that a subject may not be painted larger than 1/6th of it's natural size, or the 2” rule, that an object in the painting may not exceed 2”. Scale rules were initially put in place as a guide for artists starting out in miniature art. There are also many framing restrictions for society miniature works as well. All of these rules are put into place by each show for their own individual and unique exhibitions, and do not define what miniature art is. Artists painting miniatures throughout history were not restricted in their artwork by scale as their subjects were painted to any measurement or scale that the artist deemed pleasing to the eye and their patrons, for both manuscripts and other miniatures. Subjects that are naturally small in size, such as butterflies and insects, were painted life sized. Thus the 1/6th scale rule that is used by some shows and societies today unfortunately causes a bit of confusion to those new to the art form who commonly assume that is it a part of a mechanical criteria of the miniature's definition. The world's experts in miniatures do not recognize the rule as legitimate, and view those embracing it as unknowledgeable, and dismiss them. The term "miniature", as it addresses miniature painting, is often confused with "miniaturize" and some miniature art exhibitions do not refer to miniature as it's initial meaning of techniques, but rather the size of the painting (miniaturized painting). They are two very separate descriptions. Miniature painting is an art form that is very rich in history that continues today by artists from around the globe. The beautiful ornamental qualities of the miniature should be preserved whether it be the intricate large pieces, or intimate hand held works. Many thanks to Joan Willies RMS, the Victoria & Albert Museum, & Patrick Noon.

Having the same décor and color scheme in your home for a lengthy period of time can become drab and boring. Changing something about the interior of your home, whether it is the decorations, color, or furniture, can help add variety. It is possible to transform any room from being dull to one that is vibrant. Updating the look of the rooms in your home can become a pretty pricey investment. To dramatically change the tone of any room in your home, for a small cost, interior painting is the answer. When the walls of a room are painted, the look of the entire space is transformed into what feels like a totally different place. Painting a room can help it feel more comfortable and even make it seem more stylish. Creating a specific mood in a room can also be accomplished through painting. This method of making over a room is not only mood-inducing, but lucrative as well. To give a bedroom a feeling of tranquility you could paint it in a blue or green color. To give any room a more lively feel, especially rooms that see more activity, such as the kitchen or living room, colors like red, yellow, or shades of orange can add the spice that the interior of your home may be looking for. When painting the interior of your home it is important to make sure that everything is protected. From carpet to furniture to electronics, it is essential that your belongings stay clean and free of paint. To shield your furniture and other possessions from paint, drop cloths, canvas cloths, and plastic sheeting should be placed over top of these things to make sure that they are not ruined. It is also vital to cover carpets and floors using some type of sheeting, to guard their appearance as well. The application of masking tape along the bottoms and tops of the walls can aid in keeping paint out of crevices that may be hard to reach. Covering outlets with masking tape may also be a helpful tool when painting interior walls. When painting the interior of a home, it is extremely important that you prepare the surface to be painted. Rooms that have surfaces that are in good condition are going to be easier to paint on. Rooms that have surfaces that have seen a good amount of damage will need preparation, done to ensure that the process of painting is as flawless as possible. There are many different things that can be done to get a surface ready to be painted. Some walls will have small holes and cracks to repair, while others will have more major blemishes that need to be repaired. The surface that needs preparing may also have water spots or could have had a poor paint job the first time around, calling for repairs. If you guarantee that the surface in which you are going to paint has been properly prepared, the outcome of the new paint job will look that much better. "The face is the basis of all identities of a human being. It’s a thing that belongs to you but others use it to identify you. You foster your emotions through your face. You see the world and the world sees you through your face. We can never imagine a person without a face because then, you do not have an identity or a canvas to portray your words and yourself. With all those phrases about the face, we all can imagine and realize the power of it. How one can actually use it as a canvas to put up or show some of the most magnificent beauties of nature or humans or to defend a cause or issue of global concern. We can use our face to put up many silent words and feelings through face painting. By painting your face about the thing, you want to show or protest about, you can grab attention better than any other media because humans are visual creatures. Our sense of vision influences us the most. Some of the most famous face painting designs are: Baby Tiger, Butterfly Multi-Color, Camouflage, Cat, Cheetah, Dragon, Fantasy Alien, Flower Princess, Jewel Princess and Lion Here are a few tips for face painting: Tip 1: Buy and use your face judiciously. Keep them at a safe place away from toddlers and infants. Check out the tubs or sticks form for paints. Tip 2: When you are putting a base color or coloring a large area use a sponge rather than a brush. It will be quicker and will give a good special effect. Tip 3: Be patient and let the fresh layer of color you have applied, dry off. And be miser when applying the color layers, as thick layers will crack on drying. Tip 4: If you are not sure enough about a design, use a stencil. This will make you more confident. Tip 5: Visualize well about what you are going to paint in advance. It will save time and errors too. Tip 6: Have many tissues handy while painting. Also, keep a good chair or stool for the one whose face is to be paint for stability. Keep a mirror to show the results to that person. Tip 6: the paint you have put on the face acts like natural glue. You can dust or paste glitters on it when it is partially dry, or stick a cotton swab on the face. Dip a tissue in color and cover the swab. Then give it the finishing touch. It is ideal for bushy eyebrows or a big toon king of nose. You can use artificial jewels for a bejeweled look of a fairy or princess/prince. So, if you are just starting with the face painting, invest some money on the kit that contains all the necessary supplies. Now, all you need to do is let your imagination run free and wait for outstanding results.

A car with an excellent paint job is one of life's true joys. It's like being the kid with the best bike in the neighbourhood or the biggest piece of birthday cake. Whether you drive a '47 Eldorado, a '66 Beetle or an '07 fortwo, a great paint job will take your vehicle from ho-hum to headturner. Actually creating a great automotive paint job takes skill and finesse. Automotive painting is one of the most arduous and painstaking tasks in crafting an automobile. It can also be one of the most costly. If you are on a budget, there are options for you. Some paint shops can deliver a good paint job for a fair price. Your other option is to take on the task yourself. If the paint job is a success, you'll have even more to brag about: a hot set of wheels AND a "do it yourself" tale to tell. Achieving a great paint job is a step-by-step process. You simply can't rush automotive painting. Follow the basic steps of preparation, primer application, blocking, final paint coat and detail application. This can seem like a daunting task for any beginner, but the entire job can be completed in just a few days. Prepare Before you begin, check with local bylaws and regulations regarding the use of spray paint in homes and enclosed areas. The last thing you need is a legal holdup delaying your painting job. Cleaning the car is your next crucial step. The car must be spotlessly clean and free of dirt. Use detergents to clean the car top to bottom, and then follow up with grease removers. After the car has been cleaned, it's time to begin sanding. An air sander (preferably a dual-action sander) should be used to remove the old paint from the car. This kind of sander will not cause body damage because it removes paint without digging like other sanders and grinders. Every trace of paint must be removed to create a perfect palette for your new paint job. Automotive detailing tape or even duct tape can be used to cover and protect other parts of the car, including plastic moldings and windows. In addition to removing the old paint, all traces of rust have to be sanded off. Rust will spread if ignored or untreated, and the last thing you want is body rot happening beneath your spiffy new paint. You can repair minor body flaws on the car's surface using fillers. Shape the compound with care using a sanding board, then follow up with a glazing compound. This step will help to ensure a smooth-as-glass finish on your ride. Mask After the whole car has been initially cleaned, then sanded, a final cleaning takes place and the vehicle is ready to be masked. In this step, every part of the car that shouldn't be touched by paint is covered and protected. Remember, you will be using high-grade automotive paint that doesn't wash off with water. Cover your windows, every light and reflector, all window rubbers, all chrome, tires, wheels, door handles, wipers.. take a good look and what needs to be masked. If you don't want even the tiniest bit of over spray on it, cover it up! The tools and materials needed for masking are available at automotive supply warehouses and hardware stores. Prime Priming is an essential step to providing a good foundation for your new paint. A flawless prime coat will help you to achieve a perfect paint job. Valspar epoxy is a good primer choice, combining dependable filling capabilities with minimal shrinking. After the primer has been applied, a second coat in a contrasting colour should be applied on top of the first layer. This will serve as a sanding guide. The primer should be sanded to a smooth finish, but don't sand too vigorously or you could actually damage the body of the car. When the priming is complete, a sealer is applied and a final sanding takes place. Finishing off In finishing off the automotive painting, it is essential to achieve uniform colour. The spray gun should be held ten to twelve inches away from the body to avoid streaks and runs. This is necessary when applying the basecoat, final coat and clear coat. Regardless of the type of car you drive, a new paint job can turn it into a real showstopper. Automotive painting can be a time consuming task, but you can do it if you take it step by step. The creative energy will be good for your soul, and the compliments you receive will be great for your confidence.

Green painting - better health for you, the painter, and the environment: Because all synthetic materials gas off, many paints, although dry to touch within an hour or so, will continue to gas of on a molecular level, more or less indefinitely, and certainly for days, or weeks, on a level that is not preferable for those who have to live with it. Alternatively, there are now “zero-emission” paints (no VOCs – or volatile organic compounds) on the market. Where feasible (90% of cases), an environmentally conscious painter uses these alternative products for interior applications. This development is especially beneficial for anyone in your household/workplace who may suffer from environmental effects (perhaps all of us, on some level). Oh the debate – “Should I use wallpaper or paint on my walls? Every one has their own personal preference. Some strongly side with wallpaper; others staunchly stand-up for paint and painting. Each has advantages. Paint Paint is one of the most common forms of decorating walls. It is simple and comes in a wide spectrum of colors. Every shade you can think of is possible. The variety is truly astounding with shades within shades and subtly different hues. Perhaps, this can become a problem: too much choice. Even among the whites, there are various shades: pearl, off-white, cream, eggshell, chalk, Queen Anneâ€TMs lace. One book listed some fifty different shades of white for a would-be decorator to choose from. In addition to the shades or hues, painters are allowed a selection of types. This applies beyond interior and exterior paint and extends to glossy, matte and flat and anything in between. Glossy captures the light and reflects it, enhancing the color; matte is dull, neutral, letting the color speak for itself. All these characteristics of paint must be factored in. You need to decide the purpose of painting a room, the colors required to best present your theme or intention and whether painting is a practical means of accomplishing your decorating task. When considering painting a room, do not forget the tools needed. Rollers, trays and brushes are the very basic means of getting a room done. Step ladders and/or scaffolding (in rooms with high ceilings) are also part of the necessary equipment. Preparatory work requires sponges, putty knives (to fill in holes), scrapers and sanding blocks (to smooth down the putty-filled holes). You can sanely do anything without a drop cloth or two or three. The cost of these items can add up, but, except for some expensive brushes for fine work, you can always purchase the rest at dollar stores. The cost of paint can very. Sales and end-of-lines can reduce costs and, for a small area, you might be able to pick up paint at disposal sites. Besides price, paint is easy to apply, durable and not difficult to clean. Wallpaper Wallpapering used to be a very messy and frustrating job. Sheets of easily torn paper had to be pasted and then held up to the wall. If the paste was applied to thickly, there were lumps under the surface; apply the paste to lightly and the paper would slide off the wall. Today, much has changed and it is all for the better. Wallpaper, now referred to as wall coverings is made of a variety of different substances. It is vinyl, fabric, grass cloth and foil as well as paper. The new paper does not tear or rend as easily it did in the past. A plastic coating ensures it is both durable and easy to clean. As with paint, there is a myriad of different choices. You can decide what to pick based on suitability, both to the location and you and your familyâ€TMs preferences. Like paint, the quality will vary according to price and manufacturer. Unlike with painting, however, wallpapering is really not a solitary chore. You do need that extra pair of hands and eyes, the latter to inform you whether you are hanging the piece straight. Wall preparations for papering are similar to painting. Flaws must be removed. The walls must be sanded and all holes filled. If the wall is already covered, strip it. And do not forget in either papering or painting to remove or protect the wall plates. In the end, whether you choose to paint or paper depends on a number of factors – including preference. In todayâ€TMs retail world, there are a multitude of stores offering advice related to each of these and handling a wide-range of products. Before you decide, examine the work to be done and consider what will be the best suited method. And do not ignore the possibility of combining the two methods. Painting and wallpapering are not exclusive methods of decorating but can be very complementary.

So you want to be known as a painter of still life? Still life painting gives you, the artist an opportunity to render spirituality or poetry to seemingly mundane objects. Though the final creation seemed less intricate than portraits or landscapes, the process of composing a still life involves manifold preparations and specific requirements. One of the specific requirements is the light source. It should be steady and the artist is allowed to use artificial lights and reflectors. A window that faces north is good rather than one that faces east. The reason for this is quite obvious. The rapid change of the sun’s position affects the lighting and after awhile, the you will lose the first image that you sought in the first place. Another thing to prepare is the composition of the subject. You must be sure that it is how you want the objects to be arranged. You may draw several preliminary sketches using different compositions and carefully study each of them. Choose the one that would give the most balanced and harmonious pattern of light and dark. The next step is to decide what approach you will use. Except when you’re aiming for “photo-realism”, you don’t really want to paint the subject as exactly as you see it. Therefore, decide what is your purpose, concept, or even message for making this still life. This step is most crucial because, based on your decision, you would determine how you would proceed. The oil painting technique utilized by many old masters involves applying repeated layers of paint and glazes. Some examples of works done by this technique are “Still Life: Lemons, Oranges and a Rose“ by Zurbarán and “The Silver Goblet” by Chardin. Or you may wish to use the direct painting approach. Should you decide this, a good thing to remember is to decide one center of interest. This center interest ideally is the most lighted of all objects and others are partly concealed by shadows. Of course, the surface on which the center of interest lies should be lighted too. But the line of shadow beneath the objects should ideally be the darkest in the picture. Another thing to keep in mind are the distinct shapes of your objects and the ground plane. Establish these early on and never lose them in the process. And finally, after you have applied all the necessary strokes and colors, step back and scrutinize your work. Add finishing touches. For example, if the overall impression is rather dull, consider adding another color, perhaps a complement to one of the colors you’ve applied.

Painting is the art of applying pigments to a surface whether it is on paper, canvas, a wall or any other medium, to create an image with lines and colors. The image can represent real objects found around us or imaginary ones. It may also be an arrangement of abstract forms. The art of drawing is very essential in painting as one step together with composition and other aesthetic consideration in forming the finished work. History has allowed painting to serve a variety of functions. It was an important part of religious rites during prehistoric times. It was also the most common means of providing a visual record of events and people. By the 20th century, painting has become a medium of personal expression. Modern artists have incorporated other materials such as sand, cement, straw and wood to add variation to the texture. The concept has slowly eclipsed the historic value of the craft but this has not deterred most artists to continue practicing it. The Prehistoric times saw paintings of animals in the walls of the caves of primitive men. The Egyptians decorated tombs with scenes depicting the dead man’s family and possessions. The more lively Minoan painting was used to decorate stuccoed walls of palaces. Mycenaean culture changed this painting to depict conquests and hunts. Classical Greek paintings have simplified forms and geometric patterns. Etruscan painting put emphasis on silhouettes, ornamental contour and design. There was a new interest in emotional and psychological effects as seen on Roman painting. Early Christian painting rejected illusionism where modeling was replaced by flat decorative patters. The Byzantine style combined elements of Greek, Roman and Eastern art. Much of the decoration was done in Mosaic which was highly favored due to its durability. Islamic artists created ornamental designs called arabesques because the Islam religion forbade representation of human beings in art. Chinese and Japanese painting revealed the constant extraordinarily skillful use of the brush. Early medieval painting is characterized by Celtic, Carolingian and Romanesque art where form has been adapted for the illustration and illumination of Christian texts. Gothic art generally depicted subjects related to architecture. The Pre-Renaissance period show a revival of interest in classical art. It produced the International style which is characterized by refinement, decorative movement, elongated and swaying figures and linear pattern. The perfection of the technique of oil painting during the Late-Gothic period made it possible to produce brilliant colors, minute details and permanence of finish. The Renaissance period put much emphasis on man and the world rather than God. High-Renaissance was generally applied to the period when the idea of classical, balanced harmony was achieved. The Mannerist style followed which was ironically characterized by disturbing tensions and distortions. It was soon replaced by Baroque painting which used the elements of dynamic pose, gesture and composition as well as the sharp contrast between light and shadow. The style of the 18th century exalts color, light and movement and bordered on the frivolous and concern with pleasure. It was during the latter part of the period that artists began to paint for themselves rather than to please the church. The 19th century gave rise to Romanticism, Realism and Impressionism. Expressionism, Fauvism, Cubism, Dada, Surrealism and Non-Objective art are all products of the 20th century. Time has produced several styles, each a reflection of what happened during a certain period. This is why a painting is able to provide anyone with a rich visual experience that cannot be found anywhere else. You can only learn to appreciate a painting by reading and studying information about artists, styles and periods. From there, you will see each work and the particular point of view as seen by the artist himself.

Many techniques and methods of painting such as brush painting, roller painting, and spray painting have been practiced over the years. Spray painting employs the usage of a device to spray the paint over the surface to be painted. The device may be an aerosol canister, a hand-held paint sprayer, an air compressor, an electrostatic rotational bell, or a pneumatic gun. Hand-held paint sprayers break the liquid paint into fine droplets that are forced out of a nozzle. Some mix the liquid paint with air and then force it out through the nozzle. In both the cases, the paint accelerates out of the nozzle in a mist of spray, resulting in a uniformly painted surface. Applications of power painting • Power painting is utilized to paint interiors and exteriors of buildings from single houses to skyscrapers. It is used in new and old constructions. • For many industries, power painting is the norm. Rockets, space shuttles, airplanes, ships, submarines, trains, automobiles, towers, bridges, heavy-medium-light machinery, custom made engineering products, equipment and tools, all utilize power painting and other paint spray equipment. Benefits of power painting • With power painting, the application of the paint is uniform. • With power painting, less paint is utilized. The application of non-uniform and thicker coats is avoided, which is natural in brush painting, or roller painting. • With power painting, time is saved. Large surface areas can be covered rapidly. • With power painting, the finish is much better. Uneven paint application, smudges, and blots are eliminated. • With power painting, any surface having any texture or contour can be painted. Power painting accessories like pole spray gun, pressure rollers, spray shields, and masking equipment come in all sizes • Power painting accessories are widely available, thus replacements are quick and always within reach. • With power painting, effects of different textures, like leather, glass, wood, fabric, etc., can be achieved simply by using the appropriate nozzle, tip, paint, and filter. • With power painting, a competitive edge is gained. Customers appreciate the savings of time and paint coupled with the high quality finish, and superior service with the usage of state-of-art painting equipment. This makes a positive impact on your professional image and gives you an edge in a competitive market. It translates to increased potential business and enhanced earnings.

In painting world there are so many styles that are very popular. But before giving an account of different popular styles we need to know what the term “style” means. In fact, there is not any certain definition of “style”. It may be understood in the aesthetic terms as what to paint or which physical technique implied in painting. Aesthetic movements like realism, romanticism and impressionism belong to this explanation of style. To further understand it, we may say that style is said to be the ways an artist paints and applies colors and texture. The perspective and the way in which an artist looks at the things visible and invisible characterize his or her style. Scholarly discourse on style has given more technical term “movement” or “school” to which an artist can be associated with. Inclusion of an artist to certain school or movement may be done by the deliberate affiliation of the artist to such movement or by the art historians. Some of the popular painting styles are discussed under following heads: Constructivism: This movement had started in Russia in the wake of socialism. It was not purely an art but was a fusion of art and architecture. This movement was principal inspiration in raising many socialist establishments in Russia after the October revolution. Constructivism was on high in the period between 1919 to 1934. The chief proponents of this style of art were Alexander Rodcheckno, Liubov Popava, Vladimir Tatlin and Olga rozanova. Fauvism: This is painting style in which proponents believed in the use of color as a massive emotional force. This style was marked by expression of feelings in colors with severe roughness and clumsiness. The use of simplified lines to expressively reveal the subject and theme of the painting was also used to be the attempt of the artists. They preferred spontaneity and freshness over the finish in any work of art. Pioneer of this art style was Gustave Moreau. Classicism: This term refers to the paintings style employed by the ancient Roman and Greek painters. Classicism is characterized by the simplicity and adherence to the basic rules and principles of painting. This art style is refined and elegant, disciplined by order and symmetry. Classicism is unique style which does not encourage self expression and individuality. Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael and Mantegna were the painters who tried to imitate this ancient style of art. Besides, there are so many other styles and schools which are significant and have expressed different thoughts and subjects of the self and society in a unique way. Noteworthy of them are- abstract art, aboriginal art, aestheticism, art brut, art nouveau, baroque, Byzantine art, cubism, dada, dragging, encaustic, paintings, expressionism, gothic paintings, impressionism, mannerism, marbling, minimalism, modernism, neoclassicism, orientalism, primitivism, ragging & stippling, realism, spattering, surrealism, symbolism, theorem paintings and wood graining. It may not seem important, but generating new face painting ideas are crucial to the progression of any type of face painter. Many face painters, both professional and armature, like to stay within the face painting ideas that they are already comfortable with. Of course there are new learning procedures when it comes to new face painting ideas. Some face painters do not like generating new face painting ideas because of this. However, if anyone wants to become a successful face painter, then generating new face painting ideas is crucial to achieve success. There are two different types of ways that you can do face painting. You can either do face painting by using paint form tubs, or using stick paint. Both are great ways to do face painting, but it is best to experiment with each one to see which method is best for you. This is why it is good for face painting beginners to look at face painting examples to see how it is done right. By not knowing what the most popular requests are based upon what is popular and what is not, you will not have any face painting ideas that will really cater to what people really want. This will not only diminish your popularity and abilities as a face painter at the event you are working, but it could also lead to negative publicity as your capabilities as a face painter. Another benefit of using baby wipes in face painting, is that they can absorb more moisture then normal types of tissues. This will come especially handy when you are face painting a large group of people and can also be used to wipe your own hands off. These yipe will help you not only work quicker in face painting, but it will also help you do face painting with ease. Your face painting results and skills will also look more professional.

RC car painting is typically done using one of two methods: spray cans or an airbrush. Needless to say your skill level will be the ultimate determining factor since most people just arenâ€TMt that familiar with the intricacies of airbrushing. Both methods have their particular idiosyncratic advantages and disadvantages, however. RC car painting via spray cans is the choice of many not only because they either donâ€TMt have access to an airbrush or know how to use one, but also because it can be done quickly. A huge amount of space can be covered relatively quickly with a spray can. But RC car painting isnâ€TMt the same thing as changing the color of a flag pole. You want to be proud of that car and make it look as good as it runs. Although personalizing and detailing can usually done much better by airbrush, if you take your time and plan ahead, your spray can RC car painting can wind up looking quite impressive. Of course, RC car painting with an airbrush is ultimately what you should aim for. The benefits of using an airbrush is that you have access to so many more colors than you can get from using spray cans. And thatâ€TMs saying a lot, because even if you do choose to use spray cans, youâ€TMll still have over fifty different colors from to pick. But when RC car painting with an airbrush, you can exponentially expand those choices through mixing and blending. In addition to more flexible use of coloring, airbrushing also affords more control in application. Unlike spray cans, an airbrush can be adjusted, allowing you to spray the paint as thickly or thinly as you like. The downside to using an airbrush, besides your own level of artistic ability, is cost. For RC car painting with an airbrush youâ€TMll need a compressor. You can try using canned air to begin with, but youâ€TMll quickly find yourself spending more money than you planned on saving because they empty pretty quickly. Better to shell out for an actual compressor, preferably one that produces 25 to 70 psi. By pass the 1/8 HP hobby compressors and go for the Â1⁄2 HP. Since most RC car painting is now done with next generation water-based paints, also make sure the compressor comes with a moisture trap; if it doesnâ€TMt, youâ€TMll quickly find car covered in thick gobs of paint. RC car painting with an airbrush requires not just air, obviously, but brushes. Ideally, you will want to own more than one brush, but since they can be pricy—the good ones anyway—you may just want to start off with one. The reason for owing two is pretty obvious. RC car painting at its finest creates a work of art that combines both thick lines and fine lines, therefore you want a brush for both thicknesses. In addition, the paint itself comes in various thickness and some of the finer brushes just handle the thicker paints at the psi the compressor puts out. RC car painting with an airbrush obviously requires more effort, time and expense than RC car painting with spray cans, but the end result usually shows.

Those paintings include the Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci. The Mona Lisa used mediums of Oil painting on wood. Another famous painting using oil mediums is the La Donna Velata by Raphael. Because of the great paintings during the renaissance period using oil, many others have been inspired to paint using oil as a medium too. If you are one of those persons, here are some tips that you might consider especially if you are just starting. Consider following these advices that may make amateur oil painters have professional results. 1. When laying your paint in the palette, always put them in the same order. It will help because in time, you will now be picking up the color instinctively. 2. Try to follow the fat over lean principle. It helps in preventing cracks and drying too slow. Fat oil paint is paint mixed with paint, mixing this will prolong the drying process. Lean is mixing the paint with turpentine or other fast drying oils. 3. The layer is vulnerable to contraction and cracking when the fat layers dries underneath the lean paint first. 4. Lean paint absorbs oil from the layer above, so each layer should become a little fatter or have more proportion of oil. 5. You might have added too much oil when your pain wrinkles. 6. The quality of oil is bad if it yellows or darkens after it dries. 7. Ivory black for an under painting should be avoided because it dries slower. 8. There are elements that can be used to accelerate drying. These elements are pigments that contain cobalt, lead and manganese. These can be ideal for under layers. There are cheaper alternatives for students labeled hues. 9. Linseed oil is the best medium for under paintings as it dries faster compared to all the other mediums. 10. Linseed oils should be avoided to be used on as a medium on white and blues because it tends to become yellowish. Poppy oil, although dries slower, is best to use on lighter colors because it has the least tendency to turn yellow. 11. Dry your oil paintings in broad daylight to remove the thin film of oil that has become yellow due to drying in the dark. 12. Too much oil or medium has been added to your palette when it wrinkles. 13. Alcohol is a power solvent that is used to clean layers of oil paint or varnish. Don’t be dismayed if your painting doesn’t immediately turn out the way you would want it to be. What should be important for you is to continue practicing and maybe one day you can now be able to create your own masterpiece.

The painting profession is a versatile one which can express itself as residential or commercial. Those who are curious about residential painting, will mainly be painting houses. In this venue, the painting you will be doing is the inside and outside of homes and apartments. Those painting commercial properties will focus on businesses as the main source of income. Apartments may be done, but restaurants and office buildings will also be included. Every one of these possess challenges unique to them, with which you will be required to deal. In the residential forum, you will need to contend with colors and painting techniques which are not suitable in the commercial realm. Commercial painting projects tend to be larger and demand more staff and take up less time from start to finish. In each case, if you have taken the proper training and are wise to the secrets that expedite projects, then you have the potential to make a good living as a painter. The equipment requirements are not very large, but it does demand a higher quality than what the average person would use to paint their own house. A good variety of brushes, rollers, ladders, scaffolding and, obviously, a vehicle to get everthing to the job site will all be necessary. Higher quality supplies will surely cost more, but you will be able to distribute that expense over several jobs. These will also help you to be more profitable because you are able keep using the same supplies job after job. The potential to turn a profit is absolutely there and it will stay there provided that your work is quality and you nurture a positive reputation. This goal can be reached by showing up promptly to your jobs and getting it done right the first time. Completing your work on time or even a bit ahead of schedule will establish your reputation. To begin get in contact with some other contractors or if you desire, a union representative. Union painters have advantages for those just starting out in the painting business. They offer benefits and keep you supplied with work all for the money it costs you to pay your union dues. If you do not choose to join a union, you will need to do all of your own advertising yourself and find your own benefits. The way to do this is to contact a variety of contractors and promote your services. Another way to advertise is to put an ad in the local newspaper and in area stores to spread the word about your services. Word of mouth is one of the best ways to get work. If you offer good quality and conduct yourself in a professional manner, people will quickly tell their friends. The greatest cost you will incur is labor. It is essential to determine exactly the amount of labor you will truly require complete the job promptly and thoroughly. You can also create a website to showcase your work to potential clients.

Essential decisions to make before you start a painting. Essential decisions Is it necessary to plan a painting in careful detail before you start, or should you let it evolve as you go along? Planning a painting can be a help as you know exactly what you're going to do, but it could also inhibit spontaneity. Letting a painting evolve as you work is very free and lets you be spontaneous, but also leaves you open to the possibility that the painting won't go anywhere and you'll end up with a mess. However, remember that one of the virtues of using opaque media (oil/acrylics) is that you can start again provided it has not been applied very thickly. Ultimately the degree to which you plan out a painting depends on your personality, aptitude and confidence; some people find it essential and others a hindrance. But regardless of how detailed you like to plan, there are several decisions that have to be made before you to start to paint. 1. Decide On a Subject to Paint Deciding on a subject is the logical first step as it influences the format of the support, the type of support used, and the technique you're going to use to create the painting. If you've only a vague idea of what to do with an appealing subject, such as a glorious landscape, sketching or doing small studies rather than a full painting will enable you to see whether the composition and selection of elements works well without wasting time or materials. A pleasing study can then be used as the basis or reference for a full-scale painting. But if you find that doing a study makes you stiffen up when you come to do the large-scale painting because you're focusing on replicating it, rather than it reminding you sufficiently of the original scene, consider doing only quick sketches to see if a composition works and taking reference photos to work from back in your studio. A digital camera is a useful tool for this as you can move the image around until you find the most pleasing image. 2. Decide on the Format of your Painting Having decided on a subject, you need to decide what the best format for the support is; whether it should be landscape or portrait, or perhaps square. What shape of the canvas will best suit the subject matter? For example, a very long and thin canvas adds a sense of drama and wide-open spaces. If you are painting on board it is much easier to cut it any shape you want, i.e. round, hexagonal – whatever! 3. Decide on the Size of your Painting The size of the painting should also be a conscious decision. A painting shouldn't be a particular size simply because that's the size of the sheet of paper you have. If you buy primed and stretched canvases, have several in various sizes to hand so you have a choice. Think about how the subject would look if it were painted small, or perhaps very large. Are you going to work life-size or oversized? For example, portraits which are oversized are very dramatic. 4. Decide On a Medium and Technique If you only ever use one medium then you don't have to decide which one you think is best for this particular subject. But what about the technique you're going to use? For example, if you use acrylics, are you going to use them thickly or apply thin layers of colour. With watercolours, are you going to use retarders to slow down the drying time and are you going to use masking fluid to keep areas white? Taking the time to consider how you are going to execute your painting at the beginning will save time and frustration later. 5. Decide on the Type of Support Are you going to paint on canvas, primed hardboard, or paper? Will it be a canvas with a fine weave, such as linen, or a coarse weave that will show through? Will it be a smooth, hot-pressed paper or a rougher watercolour paper? This is a decision that not only influences the texture of the final work, but also how you work, for example canvas will stand heavy impasto being reworked repeatedly. Alternately, the technique you're wishing to use will determine the best support. If you are using oils, acrylics, or gouache, will you be using a ground (the starting colour does not have to be white), and what colour should it be? Try to imagine the subject is made up of layers. The ground colour is the first layer. How about using a complementary colour to the main colour in the picture? If you are using pastels, what colour paper will you use? And will you lay down an initial layer of complementary colours? 6. Decide on Colours Are you going to use colour realistically or not? Are you going to use whatever colours you've got or select out a few to make up a palette just for that painting? Working with a limited range of colours can contribute to a sense of unity in a painting and great a sense of identity or unity between paintings. Remember that colour is very important; it can add immensely to the mood of a painting. This is different from the intensity of colour you can portray based on the light levels of your image. So you can see, there are many decisions to make before you even start to paint. If you are a beginner, don’t just sit there looking at a blank canvas, there is much you can do to get your creative juices flowing.

When doing oil paintings of landscapes, the way that the sky is painted can set the mood for the entire picture. A dark sky is often associated with late in the afternoon, a light blue sky with the brightness of the middle of the day and a purple sky with approaching sunset. A common mistake with novice artists is to use too few color for their skies. A mixture of dark blues, light blues and plenty of white makes for a far more interesting looking sky. There are various techniques that can be implemented. Brushing on a good thick coat of oil paint, with light blue on one area and different shades in other areas then using a 1” wide brush to pull colors from one area to the other in quick left to right strokes can be very effective. Another technique is to use plenty of thinners, a mix of 50/50 linseed oil and artists turpentine is good. Cover you entire sky area with very thin paint and then use your fingers with the white and various shades of blue to construct your clouds. If there is going to be any water in your painting ie: rivers, dams lakes etc, then make sure you use the sky paint to roughly paint in your water areas for good color symmetry. Painting beautiful skies helps keep up the motivation to paint a beautiful picture. Some artists spend a lot of time painting the clouds into various shapes to depict other objects and add symbolism to their works. Using palette knife for skies can be effective, but does require a lot more paint to be used. Interesting clouds can also be created with the palette knife. Unless you are painting a seascape, where it is imperative that the horizon is dead straight, it is usually not critical to have your skyline dead straight. Most often in landscapes you are going to have mountains or hills are other varying landscape components directly in front of your sky which will be at various angles that hide the straight line of the horizon. It is a good idea to mix your sky colors with yellow to create the greens for your painting, as well as using premixed greens such as sap green, viridian etc. This helps add color uniformity to your painting. The same goes for your mountains, mix reds with your sky blues to give you various shades of purple for your mountains. Even the rich dark undiluted blues can be used for mountain peaks. Try to avoid painting a sun directly. If you want a sun then have it behind clouds with the bright sunrays in whites and yellows showing through. Use thick brush strokes for this. It may be best to let the blue of the sky dry before painting the whites and yellows for the sun beams over the top, to avoid them mixing with the blue and ending up with a green tinge. If you are painting the sky at sunset, then a huge range of colors from red, to yellow, to purple as well as blues can be used. Again if there is going to be water in your picture it is a good idea to paint the water at the same time as the sky to get the consistency of colors and then paint the landscape components afterwards.

Iwould like to cover every aspect of this topic. In order to keep things short I have only included the major topics elaborated as good as possible. Now before you begin to tackle any of the other home improvement jobs that are ready and waiting for you, you might want to see about the task of repainting your home. Since this is one of the more significant jobs, not to mention very messy especially if you are a novice painter, you should get this over with as soon as you can. Home improvement painting can brighten up a dark and dingy house into a spacious life area. The main items that you will need are an vacate house, otherwise you will need to cover all of the piece of furniture or move them to another room. This is another home improvement task altogether so let s start with an empty room just like an artist start with an vacuous canvas. Now select your color scheme. Yes this is home improvement painting but you do need all of the colors in your house to match. Try picture a little bit of the color somewhere on the walls or the ceiling. This way you will get an idea of how the color actually looks on the surface. The other items that you must take are your picture tools. Some people like spraying picture the integral surface of their home. Other people like to use rollers to cover large areas at once. You will also get the creative set. This set of people like to use paint brushes to get their jobs done. Now that you have all of the tools that you need ready, you will need to prepare the surface. Buy a non water based primer or sealer. Utilize this sealer equally all over the various places that you want painted. Try doing one room first before you paint the whole house. After the sealer is dry and you have no dusty surfaces to care about, you can begin your home improvement painting. Make sure that you cover the whole ceiling equally in one coat. Let this coat dry full before you paint any more. Over painting will give you a lumpy looking ceiling. Now when you are full satisfied with how the ceiling looks you can start on the walls. The best place to start this section of your home improvement painting is in a corner but at the very top of the walls. Now Taking your time and being very measured not to get paint everywhere cover one wall with your chosen color. You will be able to get an idea of how your home improvement painting will look once it is all done. With your first wall painted you can then start house painting the rest of the house in one color or the various coordinated colors. At the end of your home improvement painting your whole house will look altogether unlike and you will feel a sense of pridefulness whenever you look at the walls and ceilings. Michelangelo Buonarroti eat your heart out. There is a new painting genius in town. I m glad you have found this article I hope you found the selective information useful.
