With infidelity still on the rise, many jilted lovers are unsure of how to find the truth. Their suspicions, they fear may lead to distrust if their partner isn't cheating after all. But they feel they have to be certain one way or another. This quandary compels many to conduct their owns investigation, ask a series of questions with obvious implications or simply accuse their partner outright. All of these normally spell doom, says private investigator James Lam.

"The reality is--and this has been proven true time and time again--that the majority of people who think they are being cheated on, are right. And such a statement may seem to imply that it's ok to go ahead and snoop around yourself. But it isn't. Every step of an infidelity investigation must be taken by someone with no emotional attachment to the situation."

There are a myriad of approaches to doubts about fidelity--some expensive and convoluted, others neither. The hiring of a private investigator likely ensures that the truth will be found out. It is also very, very expensive. Cost aside, even professional investigators are occasionally "caught" by those they are investigating. As mentioned, one partner catching the other investigating them can itself ruin a relationship, as they feel trust no longer exists. The article analyzes the results of independent tests performed by PC Magazine Romania comparing the AXIGEN Mail Server against two open source alternatives, Sendmail (with Dovecot) and Postfix (with Cyrus):
We thought of conducting a comparative performance study for three solutions that cover the four basic functions of electronic messaging: message receiving, their delivery to the user’s mailboxes, message storage and user accessing stored emails. Two usage scenarios were considered: business and ISP.
The three tested solutions are:
  • Sendmail (message receiving and delivery) + Dovecot (message storage and access)
  • Postfix (message receiving and delivery) + Cyrus (message storage and access)
  • AXIGEN (complete solution)
The tests consisted in sending messages with a predetermined size to the servers and checking their acceptance in the users’ mailboxes.
The large number of spam messages from the total traffic of received email messages (estimated by Radicati, in 2007, at 72% of all traffic) generates frequent periods of intensive server usage. To verify the servers’ ability to respond in overload conditions, their response time to requests on 1, 2, 4 and 8 parallel connections was tested.
Business type scenarios (medium/large companies)
Characteristics

Medium and large sized companies generally employ their own messaging solutions for security and efficiency reasons. Typically, messages sent in the business environment are medium sized (13.6kB) and the employees connect to an e-mail client (for example: MS Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird etc.) trough the IMAP protocol.


Testing results

The most relevant performance indicators of a messaging solution are the number of accepted messages by the server and the number of delivered messages to the user’s mailbox within a time unit. Ideally, the two indicators are equal; therefore, the server is able to immediately deliver all received messages.
After running the tests
We noticed that, in the case of Sendmail, the accepted number of messages is almost equal to the delivered number of messages witch ensures the server’s reliability; also, the number of these messages increases when the number of parallel connections is increased. However, from 4 to 8 parallel connections, there’s only a minor increase of the received/delivered message number, leading us to conclude that the maximum performance level is archived; no matter how many parallel connections are added, the total performance doesn’t increase anymore.
We notice that, for Postfix, once we increase the number of parallel connections, the difference between the number of accepted and delivered messages is significantly greater, the latter being much smaller. It can be concluded that a big part of the processing power is used to accept messages; sadly, the delivery is affected by this behavior, the immediate effect being the constant message queue increase, which finally causes a server blockage. Compared to Sendmail, Postfix works a little better in the case of a single connection, but the performance balance switches in favor of Sendmail as the number of parallel connections is increased.
Unlike the first two solutions, AXIGEN maintains a balance between the number of received and delivered messages and its performance highly increases when new parallel connections are being added, working almost 13 times better than Sendmail and Postfix at 8 parallel connections.
To conclude, even if in normal traffic situations a 7-20 messages/second performance is satisfactory and the Sendmail or Postfix solutions behave acceptably, during peak traffic periods, such as virus outbreak situations, spam attacks, when sending large numbers of messages (e.g emails to large distribution lists) or in case of server attacks, AXIGEN proves to be much more reliable.

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who is watching the story about the alleged murders of Iraqi civilians by BlackWater Operatives in Iraq. It's a grizzly story and, by rights, SHOULD be reported and investigated thoroughly. If these operatives are guilty of murder, they SHOULD be prosecuted to the full extent of the law! Our main confusion about "The Law" is currently letting murderous thugs get away without so much as an arrest.

Because these operatives are not "Officially" US Soldiers and they are not acting on US Soil, they are not under the jurisdiction of US Law. Because they are not "Officially" Iraqi Forces and they are not Iraqi citizens and their country of origin is the same as the occupying force in Iraq, they are not under the jurisdiction of Iraqi Law. Because they are not "Officially" UN sanctioned Operatives fighting in a battle that is not "Officially" a declared War, they don't seem to be under the Jurisdiction of International Law either. At present, they appear to be autonomous and accountable to no one's rule of Law. A legal limbo, if you will, that allows them to do whatever they want without accountability.

However there's a sub story that keeps getting brushed aside like an insignificant sidebar to the main story about murder and accountability. I see the sub story as being at LEAST as important as the main story, if not MORE so!

When the Bush Regime releases numbers about military activity in Iraq they only talk about US Military troops. The US military soldiers currently fighting in Iraq are not the only Americans in Iraq! The sub story is that independent contractors operating in Iraq collectively account for almost as many forces as the US Military.

The US Military numbers are roughly 150,000 at this writing. About 5,000 are rumored to be leaving for home by Christmas, leaving a US Military force of roughly 145,000. Independent contractors account for roughly 110,000 people. Now, granted, not all of these contractors are combat oriented units, but most of them are. The truth is that there are roughly 220,000 people involved in operations in Iraq that require the use of lethal weapons.

When you are watching reports about the US Involvement in Iraq remember that the numbers you are being told comprise a little more that HALF of the actual amount of people operating for US Interests in Iraq. Let's see what that would look like here in the US. Iraq is 167,400 square miles in land mass. California is 163,707 square miles. The population of California is quite a bit larger than Iraq given that Iraq is mostly desert and almost all population there is gathered within 200 miles of one city.

Imagine, if you will, a fighting force of 225,000 people with guns, who have a dramatically different cultural perspective, religious perspective and economic structure than Californians, occupying that state and attempting to transform its government into a Fundamentalist Islamic State. That, roughly, is what the US is doing to Iraq as I write this. Kind of puts things into perspective don't you think?

When you are voting for your next President please watch the candidates carefully. All but ONE of those candidates is advocating some form of continuation of that occupation. Republicans are VERY aggressive about it, but even the democrats, with one exception, are advocating that we stay in Iraq for one reason or another and backing it up with legislative votes to that effect. That one candidate? Dennis Kucinich!

Learn French Numbers - French Numbers Can Confuse!

You would think that French numbers are pretty much the same as English, wouldn't you? 1,2,3,4,5... how can they be different? Well of course French numerals when written like that are exactly the same. However, when you write them out in full, for example one, two, three, etc., there are a few differences between the French and the English and a few little traps for the unwary. This article will teach you how to avoid them.

Everything is OK from one to ten: the French numbers are un, deux, trois, quatre, cinq, six, sept, huit, neuf, dix. Of course "un" (one) can also be "une" because in French things have gender. "Un" if it's masculine, for example "un table" (easy one that, a table), "un chat" (a cat) but "une" if it's feminine, "une chaise" (a chair) and "une girafe" (a giraffe).

There are no problems from eleven to twenty either: onze, douze, treize, quatorze, quinze, seize, dix sept, dix huit, dix neuf, vingt.

French numbers have just a small change when you get to twenty one: "vingt et un". Literally translated they say "twenty and one". We're OK for the rest of the numbers though, the French revert to the same style as English for twenty two "vingt deux" and the remainder of the numbers until thirty which is "trente". Thirty one is like twenty one "trente et un" - you see, it's that "thirty and one" thing again.

Forty (quarante), fifty (cinquante) and sixty (soixante) give us no problems either, as long as we remember the "and one" thing: "quarante et un" is forty one but for forty four we just use "quarante quatre". "Soixante sept" is sixty seven but we use "soixante et un" for sixty one.

When we get to seventy, however, is when the French really throw a spanner in the works. There is no French number seventy! I'm not kidding. No seventy at all. So what do they do?

What they do is say "sixty ten". Now don't ask me why but that's the way they do it. Seventy is "soixante dix", sixty ten. Note it's not sixty and ten, it's sixty ten. Then sixty eleven, "soixante onze", sixty twelve "soixante douze" and so on.

So what do you suppose eighty is? If you've guessed sixty twenty you're way off! In fact it's four twenty, no not forty twenty, four twenty: "quatre vingt", like four multiplied by twenty I suppose. Again, don't ask me why. Someone once said that you don't have to like the rules, just understand them and if you want to learn French numbers the principal is the same. Don't worry about why, just learn them.

Then just when you thought you'd got the hang of the "and one" bit, the French change it. Eighty one is "quatre vingt un" and so on for the rest of the eighties: "quatre vingt deux" eighty two, and so on.

I bet you're really looking forward to ninety, aren't you!

Ninety is four twenty eleven: "quatre vingt onze" and afterwards we have four twenty twelve "quatre vingt douze" and so on, the same pattern as with the seventies, all the way up to a hundred "cent". Yes, that's where the word Cent comes from.

After that, it's mostly repetition. Two hundred is "deux cents" (note the 's' on the end of cent because there's more than one of them), three hundred is "trois cents" and so on. We don't do the "and one" thing for two hundred and one, we do "deux cents un". Same for the other hundreds.

A thousand is "un mille", a million is "un million" and a billion is "un milliard". So for example 243,586 is "deux cents quarante trois mille cinq cents quatre vingt six" that's two hundred forty three thousand five hundred four twenty six. Simple really isn't it!

In fact when you break it down and go over it a few times it's not that difficult to learn French numbers. It's a bit different, yes, and it takes a bit of practice, but that's all it is. Write down a few random numbers and practice. Whenever you see a number - we do it with license plates - just try to translate it into French. You'll soon get the hang of it and by the end of the year (2008 or "deux mille huit" - note not two thousand 'and' eight) you'll be completely fluent!

In the past it was never possible to route calls to a 0800 / 0845 / 0870 numbers to your mobile telephone. Now you can select your number and then administer divert directly to your mobile. The only option previously was to route these calls to a UK fixed landline number and then divert your calls from that number to your mobile. The problem with this is that you need a line on rental at high price simply doing nothing other than diverting these calls.

But now situation has changed. You can divert 0800 free phone numbers easily and cheap. For example if you routinely divert incoming calls to your mobile when you leave your office then inbound calls to your landline made on your 0800 numbers will follow the divert to your mobile. Your 0800 numbers will automatically follow any diverts set up on your landline.

A 0800 numbers can divert up to 5 landline numbers which can ring sequentially if one is busy or does not answer. Ultimately, if there is no response, a voicemail message can be recorded and sent to your specified email address as a WAV file attachment that can be played in Windows Media Player. Numbers and timing are all configurable by us at your request.

With 38 numbers on American wheels, you have a 1-in-38 probability of your number being the one that comes up, so we would say that the event-odds, which refer to the probability of a specific event happening, are 1-in-38. Except in the case of biased wheels, they will be the same for every roulette game.

Now, what if a casino paid you 40-to-1 when your number won? They normally pay 35-to-1, so which casino would you like to place your bets at if there were several to choose from? Perhaps the one that pays more? Even though the odds of your number winning haven't changed, you get paid more when you win. Paint by numbers was a major source of income for many people. What a wonderful way to have fun and at the same time earn! It was a very productive method for people with idle time to invest time to produce a picture even if they were not arty.
