In a larger workplace such as a stock house or factory, and even in smaller facilities, one of the biggest problems that face employers is installing a cost effective heating system that adequately balances the needs of employees with the financial and environmental concerns of energy usage in the workplace. In many workplaces, the best answer to the question of providing cost effective heating that is easy to use and reliable is to install a number of industrial space heaters throughout the facility that can offer either direct or indirect heating onto a large area at one time. The idea behind a commercial space heater is simple. A large reflective dish with a heating element in it is positioned either on the floor or in is suspended from the ceiling. This is then switched on, and thanks to the design of the reflective part of the device is able to direct heat into the area where it is required. Wasted heat is minimized, and the heating system is generally efficient and effective enough to only be used occasionally throughout the day. Under most circumstances, floor mounted heaters can simply be placed in the area required, and plugged into a regular power supply. They are able to generate plenty of heat and because they point the heat in a single direction, they minimize wastage. Roof mounted heaters require a little more effort in their initial installation thanks to the fact that they must be professionally hung. Despite this, thanks to the fact that they only need an electricity supply, rather than connection to water heating system or an air conditioning network, little additional work is needed. The second major advantage of industrial space heaters over alternative means of heating is their reliability. They are amongst the simplest possible heating devices available. Essentially just a larger version of a typical domestic electric fire, the design is minimalist, and comprises of a heating element and a reflector. This elegance in design ensures that there is very little that can go wrong, and in most cases, once a commercial space heater has been installed in a workplace it will remain in service for many years with only minor maintenance checks being carried out to ensure constant efficiency. The third major reason for using industrial space heaters to warm a working area rather than any of the alternatives is the fact that they are so effective. Thanks to the high power output in that ranges from 1.5 up to 13.5 kilowatts depending on the voltage, these heaters can boost temperature in a particular area in a matter of minutes and change it from being uncomfortable to being very pleasant quickly. This means that staff can get started with their work a lot quicker and in turn boosts productivity without any major investment of time or effort beyond the initial installation of the equipment. Reliability, simplicity, and effectiveness in use make industrial space heaters one of the most elegant and usable tools to make a work place more pleasant for staff and more productive throughout the year.

One of the most important aspects to consider when stocking or equipping a modern industrial facility for maximum efficiency is to install the right number of industrial cranes throughout the building. By streamlining your internal distribution network through the careful positioning of lifting equipment where it is needed, time can be saved throughout processes, and this will lead to a more profitable enterprise as a result. There are a number of different designs for industrial cranes that are available to include within a modern factory or other facility, and all of them have slightly different purposes in both their design, and their usage. Choosing the right equipment for a variety of different roles throughout your business requires careful consideration, and a number of different factors such as the total cost of installation compared to the efficiency gains that you can expect as a result of this need to be considered. Depending on your exact needs, there are a wide variety of different industrial cranes that you can use. There are three main kinds of crane in terms of the actual design, and these are the jib cranes, which are effectively a post with a supported beam mounted on it; bridge cranes, which tend to be mounted on the walls of the factory or supported from the roof; and gantry cranes, which have two legs that support a horizontal gantry between them. Jib cranes are generally static. They are an extremely versatile industrial crane that has a large number of different uses and can be very powerful. Normally, a jib crane is used for moving an object from one location to another. The load can be lifted, swung, and with certain designs of the crane, they can also be slipped along the jib in order to offer a small amount of lateral movement too. Jib cranes can be used in a huge number of different situations including in a loading bay, as well as for loading items onto workstations throughout the facility. Gantry cranes are typically used for vertically lifting objects from one surface onto another. It is not recommended to move a gantry crane while it is in use, as this can cause accidents. As with all industrial cranes, great care needs to be taken when using gantries, as they are capable of supporting very large loads, and this needs to be remembered when carrying out the work. Depending on the exact design and implementation of a bridge crane, the entire factory could be within reach of the lifting gear, and as a result, the crane can be used to pick up enormous weights from one place, and move them very quickly from one end of the building to the other. Bridge cranes are extremely efficient ways of moving objects around the building, and can provide a real boost to the way a factory is able to move things around. The key to boosting efficiency in your factory is ensuring that you create a work path that is as simple and fast as possible without compromising on quality. With this in mind, choosing what particular industrial cranes should be used where is important, and can make a huge difference in short order to the overall way in which the factory or other industrial unit works.

Industrial filtration Systems are available in all kinds of configuration. There are many kinds of Industrial filters which helps in reducing pollution caused by industries.. 1. Automotive Filters. 2. Cooling Tower Filters. 3. Chemicals Filters. 4. Food and Beverage Filters. 5. Hydrometallurgy Filters. 6. Paint Filters. 7. Paper Filters. 8. Pharmaceuticals Filters. 9. Kaolin Slurry Filter. 10. Oil and Gas (Petroleum) Filters. 11. Waste Minimization Filters. 12. Bag filters: Bag filters are generally used for the removal of dust in industrial air filter applications. 13. Panel filters: they are made of made with fiberglass or mesh type materials. Not all bag filters need to be cleaned but when used for gaseous applications of dust removal they need to be cleaned. There is a procedure to wash the filters by backwashing with high pressure air or by mechanical shaking. Planes, satellites and space shuttles use denser foam for cleaner air. A typical Industrial filtration system will include: 1. Bypass. 2. Valve. 3. Separation equipment. 4. Associated tubing and interconnect. Now-a-days modern Industrial Filtration systems often have 1. Electrical / electronic sensors. 2. Instrumentation. 3. Control devices: the control devices have shut off valves, flow diverters and automatic flushing. The designing of these systems are based on the system capability with existing equipment 1. The minimum flow rate. 2. The filler effectively. 3. The system fluid pressure. 4. The type of filter filtration. 5. The maintainability. 6. Filtration performance. 7. The particulate size removal. 8. The system cost. The filter media vastly improves the performance of traditional filter fabrics which in turn rely on the formation of a surface filter cake to capture fine dust particles, which in turn can permit the migration of dust through the media which leads to high emission values and raised pressure drop. All dust and fumes, whether they are toxic or not, are hazardous to health and the environment and must be removed, reduced to provide an atmosphere in which all may live and work in a clean and neat environment. Advantages: 1. The longer you use the High Efficiency Particulate Air filters, more efficient they become. 2. There are filters which can be multi-pocket and pleated such as the industrial air filters. 3. The industrial air filters have high capacity. Application: 1. The filters generally used for filtering bulk chemicals are bag filters. 2. The bag filters are used in industries like the food industry (vegetable oils, vinegar), semiconductors, coolants, cleaning fluids, paints, varnishes, waxes, plastisols etc. 3. In environments that rely on high clean-air standards such as surgical facilities, tuberculosis wards, NASA clean rooms, and laboratories we use High Efficiency Particulate Air filters. 4. They are also useful for allergy sufferers. There are laws which could get us into trouble if we pollute the environment. This will definitely help us to clean all the pollutants which are let out by industries. Industrial filtration systems helps a lot in controlling pollution. In larger factories and warehouse environments, getting from one end of the building to the other can take a considerable amount of time and this affects performance and efficiency. In order to help staff to get around more quickly, there are a number of options available, which all have advantages and disadvantages, and some environments suit certain solutions better than others. Industrial bicycles are one of the favored methods of empowering staff to move around the workplace, and there are a number of different options available to ensure that these are the most efficient option available. Although some companies prefer to provide electric carts, these are not always suitable, and present a large capital expense that is not always possible to justify. Industrial bikes offer a much more cost effective solution, as well as being more environmentally friendly. Industrial bicycles come in a wide range of styles, but the most popular option with most employers is a three wheel design with a cargo box at the rear. This provides greater stability, and means that the bike can be parked safely Modern commercial bikes are designed to be safe, easy to use and rider friendly. With light gearing, and comfortable saddles, coupled with plenty of space to stow any items that would otherwise have to be carried, they make for a very efficient way of getting around larger facilities, saving time and energy, and making staff more effective. Industrial bicycles come in a wide range of styles, but the most popular option with most employers is a three wheel design with a cargo box at the rear. This provides greater stability, and means that the bike can be parked safely rather than having to be propped up against a wall or fence when not required. The bikes are designed to be very durable, with strong frames that are painted to avoid corrosion, and adjustable saddles to ensure that all sizes of person can ride comfortably. Thanks to a wide range of colors of commercial bikes, you can select an option that fits in with your overall workplace theme, or even assign different bikes to different areas to ensure that they can always be found when required. Safety is always of paramount concern in the modern workplace, so these bikes come complete with heavy duty tires and effective hand brakes to ensure safe stopping on demand. The standard model can comfortably carry people weighing up to 250 pounds, but if you need more capacity for any additional load to be carried in the cargo box, heavyweight frames designed for up to 500 pounds total capacity are also available. Thanks to the large cargo area on the back, these industrial bicycles are ideal for use in an environment such as a factory where components may be required at any station by an operator, and where getting them distributed can mean a logistic headache. Having a member of staff on hand to ensure that critical components are in the right place at the right time will definitely benefit the business in terms of reducing down time, and is just one of many reasons why so many facilities choose to enable a workforce with the means to get around easily, safely, and on demand with a commercial bike.

The term “ industrial pallet rack” is simply another term for heavy-duty pallet rack or heavy-duty shelving. Is refers to higher weight capacitance, not to a specific size or style. Some units feature weight capacities of up to 48,000 pounds. In terms of structural appearance, industrial pallet racks differ little from their lighter duty equivalents. They function in much the same way, the only real difference being that they require professional installation to be safely and efficiently setup, and they must be moved with heavier equipment in order to ensure the safety of both workers and content. As such, almost all industrial pallet racks are designed to anticipate and withstand occasional forklift collisions that can result through either human or mechanical error. In addition to substantially reducing replacement costs by using an industrial strength pallet rack that can withstand greater stress, investing in industrial strength pallet racking systems can possibly generate commercial insurance discounts on the basis that the equipment is significantly less likely to be damaged to the point of filing a claim. From a material handling perspective, industrial pallet racks make large materials behave like small ones. By designating storage space for heavy equipment, parts, and large containers that is simultaneously compact and portable on demand, industrial pallet racking systems make it easier and safer to move extremely cumbersome materials from one point to the other with a minimum of risk to people or equipment. The most popular industrial pallet racking found commonly throughout warehouses and factories nationwide is the teardrop design. The standard dimensions for a teardrop industrial pallet rack is 64” in width and 300” in height. In most normal heavy-duty storage environments, this usually provides all necessary storage space for the requirements at hand. Teardrop racks also offer an additional 2” of adjustable space to create maximum efficiency in height usage. Teardrop industrial pallet racking systems consist of boltless design that provides easy assembly and quick adjustment on the spot. Braces are welded together to high tensile steel columns to create a safe and sturdy upright truss. The most heavy-duty teardrop units feature a storage capacity of up to 35,000 pounds. For loads larger than this, structural steel pallet racks provide even more weight capacity and storage space. These exceptionally large racking systems can hold up to 48,000 pounds and offer 30 additional inches of beam span compared to teardrop industrial racks. Structural steel racks are also especially designed to withstand forklift collisions without buckling or spilling their contents. Both new and used industrial pallet racks can be obtained from many companies. Many company specialists will help you choose which design and capacity industrial pallet rack best fits your current warehouse or factory storage needs and which design and weight capacity are most appropriate for your particular situation. Once final product selection has been determined, most companies coordinate deliveries, assembly, and setup of both new and used industrial pallet racks. Industrial pallet racks are not a “do-it-yourself” install and always require a trained professional to configure both to ensure worker safety and maximum efficiency in space utilization.

Lubricants may be solids, such as plastic beads, glass beads, nut hulls and graphite, or liquids, such as oils, synthetic fluids, glycols, modified vegetable oils, fatty-acid soaps and surfactants. A lubricant provides a protective film which allows for two touching surfaces to be separated, thus lessening the friction between them. The two major categories of lubricant are those that are organic and those that are synthetic. Specialties include: any type of industrial or power train lubricant, fuel, base stock, intermediate, additive, functional chemical, coolant, or process oil. As with other lubricants, its job is to reduce wear and friction between moving objects (like engine parts), enabling longer operation and higher efficiency. This reference summarizes current knowledge about the different materials that are added to lubricants to improve their performance characteristics. Oil as a lubricant Oil – A general term for a water-insoluble thick liquid that possesses lubricating properties. You may be tempted to use other types of oil you already have around your house or WD-40 or something, but many of those things are flammable and will only serve to damage your shredder or worse. In the last century, synthetic additives extended the effectiveness of age-old lubricants like oil. Emulsifying agents are sometimes added to oils for production of cutting fluids, which are to be mixed with water. The primary purpose for changing the oil, of course, is to eliminate the contaminants because in most instances the lubricant is physically and chemically fit for continued service. Due to environmental concerns, the disposal of used oils is heavily regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The groundbreaking technology of fully synthetic gasoline engine oil formulated from Di-Synthetic Protect technology with SAE 0W-40; which fuel economy follow by ILSAC GF-4 standard is an advantage. In most complex mechanical systems, lubricants help reduce friction and protect moving parts against wear. Knowing how the behavior of lubricants can change and affect the lubricated surfaces under these conditions is becoming more important as the need for miniaturization leads to development of ever smaller components.

An industrial directory cannot but be a substantial volume. Industry is defined as production of goods and the variety of goods are bewilderingly large. A directory can claim to be an industrial directory only if it covers all major sectors. Speaking of sectors, NAICS - North American Industry Classification System - classifies economic activity in United States, Canada and Mexico. We look at this system in the next section. Industry NAICS has allotted a sector number to each sector (listed in the first column below). 11 Agriculture, Forestry, Fishing and Hunting 21 Mining 22 Utilities 23 Construction 31-33 Manufacturing 42 Wholesale Trade 44-45 Retail Trade 48-49 Transportation and Warehousing 51 Information 52 Finance and Insurance 53 Real Estate and Rental and Leasing 54 Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services 55 Management of Companies and Enterprises 56 Administrative and Support and Waste Management and Remediation Services 61 Education Services 62 Health Care and Social Assistance 71 Arts, Entertainment, and Recreation 72 Accommodation and Food Services 81 Other Services (except Public Administration) 92 Public Administration Each of these sectors is subdivided into sub-sectors by using additional digits in the sector number, as illustrated below: 32 Manufacturing 326 Plastics and Rubber Products Manufacturing 3261 Plastics Product Manufacturing 32611 Plastics Packaging Materials and Unlaminated Film and Sheet Manufacturing 326111 Plastics Bag and Pouch Manufacturing 326112 Plastics Packaging Film and Sheet (including Laminated) Manufacturing You would notice that even under the lowest classifications, such as Plastic Bag and Pouch above, there could be several specialized activities. A detailed and complete list of industries would thus be a very big list indeed. We take a look at some sample categories in a reputed industrial directory in the section below. Industrial Directories Adhesives & Sealants Adhesives, Adhesive Tapes, Pressure Sensitive Tapes, Tapes, Adhesive Dispensing Equipment, more... Automation & Electronics Automation Equipment, Printed Circuit Boards (PCB), Electronic Enclosures, Clean rooms, EMI/RFI Shielding, more... Chemicals Coatings, Corrosion Resistant Coatings, Desiccants, Optical Coatings, Teflon Coatings, more... Custom Manufacturing & Fabricating Metal Fabrication, CNC Machining, Metal Stampings, Screw Machine Products & Turned Parts, Tube Fabricating & Bending Services, more... Electrical & Power Generation Transformers, Batteries, Magnets, Custom Transformers, Neodymium Magnets, more... (Source: http://www.thomasnet.com/ ) We have not included several more major categories in the partial list above. As you see from the extract above, the sub-categories are large enough for this industrial directory to take recourse to "more..." when listing the sub-categories. Regional Directories Industrial development is a major policy objective of all countries, and regions within countries. And you would find regional industrial directories not only for developed countries for also for developing economies. Conclusion Industry is a very broad field and an industrial directory would have to cover many major sectors and numerous sub-sectors to be worthy of its name. Governments have tried to implement meaningful classifications and sub-classifications of industrial sectors, to facilitate data gathering and other purposes. In the case of industrial directories, there is a proliferation of regional directories as each region seeks to publicize its industrial capabilities and seek more business.

Ergonomics is the study of movement and by applying the science of ergonomics to industrial applications, it is possible to improve the working environment that your staff have, and introduce new systems that can improve workflow, reduce the incidence of industrial injuries, and increase profit through greater productivity. When working at a work bench, being able to gain access to all sides of an item quickly and efficiently without having to move around the item means that staff will be able to work to a high standard much more quickly. Industrial turntables can be installed simply and quickly on normal workbenches to allow staff to turn items to face them rather than having to move around them in order to gain access to the different sides. With an industrial turntable, your production staff will find it much easier to gain access to the different sides of the article that they are working on. This means that they will be able to see all the different aspects of something without any impairment, and be able to carry out tasks a lot faster and more efficiently. Most companies stock a wide variety of different industrial turntables to suit the various different applications that you might have in your installation, and you can choose the right unit for your needs based on the size, shape, and other features. The simplest units are a simple bench top turntable that simply sits on top of the workbench, and allows users to rotate the item they are working on without any real effort. High quality bearings create a smooth rotational movement and ensure that the turntable can support comparatively heavy weights up to 500 pounds. While 8 inch industrial turntables are ideal for manipulating smaller items such as parts, a variety of larger units are also available up to 24 inches in diameter that will allow staff to manipulate larger items such as engine blocks and other unwieldy things. In order to ensure the best possible ergonomic range of movements, and to allow much easier manipulation of objects, height adjustable industrial turntables are available with a range of different heights up to 36 inches are available. These will allow for staff to gain easy access to all sides of the materials that they are working with and provide them with the visibility that they need in order to be able to work to the highest possible standard. If your business involves working with heavier objects and you are concerned with the impact that this will have in terms of the fatigue that it will create for staff, then powered industrial turntables will provide you with the perfect solution. The highest standard of manufacturing, coupled with the latest technologies will allow you to procure equipment that can allow staff to easily manipulate items up to 750 pounds in weight, and lift them up to 43 inches from the top of the workbench as well as providing powered rotation to enable your staff to work smarter and more effectively without having any problems regarding their fatigue when manipulating heavy objects.

In factories, warehouses, and even in mechanic’s workshops, there are always items that need to be moved around. While it can sometimes seem tempting for staff to simply pick up an object and move it, it is vital that the proper industrial carts are supplied in the workplace, and a culture of care is instilled to prevent accidents and injury. Back problems are one of the biggest costs to American industry, with millions of days lost every year due to staff getting injured in the workplace and being unable to work as a result. In the main, injuries are caused by improper lifting technique. The best way of avoiding your staff from getting injured is to minimize the amount of lifting and carrying that they have to carry out by ensuring that you have industrial carts available to move things from one location to another. While fork lift trucks and pallet lifters are essential when managing a warehouse in which extremely large quantities are being moved around at any one time, in a factory, it is normally the case that items are moved as single entities, or at the most a couple of items, and rather than having a large fork lift passing through a busy working environment, it makes much more sense to load items onto a platform truck and then distribute them individually throughout the work area. Aside from minimizing staff exposure to potential back injuries, using industrial carts also ensures that goods are protected. If low quality industrial carts and trolleys that have not been designed for the purpose of moving heavy items are employed in a factory or warehouse, there is a high risk of the cart failing in use due to being overloaded. This will inevitably result in any items being carried getting seriously damaged, but can also cause injury to the operator. Because the incorrect equipment has been provided, they will have grounds to take the employer to court for damages, and this can prove extremely costly in the modern system. There are a number of factors to consider when choosing the right industrial carts for your workplace. One of the most important factors that govern which truck is best suited to the job is the size of the workplace and the amount of space available for distribution of components or materials amongst staff. One a number of occasions, people have invested in a range of platform trucks that are simply too wide to fit between banks of benches. This results in any goods having to be unloaded and then carried by hand to wherever they are required, negating the value of having the industrial cart in the first place. If you are in the process of considering an investment in industrial carts for your business, then make sure that you choose not only the right models, but also the right manufacturer. While it may be a short term benefit to buy cheaply, this can cause problems in the longer term, as low quality equipment will not last well, and over time, will always cost you more than investing in high quality stock from the outset.

Industrial Safety has changed over the years, incorporating different policies and systems to try and make it better for the people working in the industry. Protective gear such as helmets, boiler suits, gloves and masks are now becoming standard equipment for factories. Emergency exits, fire extinguishes, and warning signs are placed in strategic areas, which all the employees and guests visiting, are informed about. Team leaders, managers and the likes, go on training courses, to better equip them with ways of dealing with situations. First Aids kits are standard in every company and there are normally quite a few people who know how to use them in the case of an emergency. But it didn’t always used be like this. It wasn’t many years ago when the employee was the last person that the CEO thought about. Products, profit and expansion were all that was in their mind. People would come into work, clock their time in, work and clock out. But that was also in the days were industrial areas where that hazard. It was only when the machines they worked with become more dangerous that the work environment became a place of danger. The first Industrial Revolution, which brought with it the first types of machines, accorded in the late 18th and early 19th century. It is said that almost every aspect of life changed or altered in some way because of the evolution, whether you were a farmer or a sales clerk. Machines replacing labor workers started off in Britain, but soon spread to other parts of the world. The fact that steam engines could now replace the average unskilled laborer meant that the whole structure and demand changed. But machines bring in more hazards then anything else. If people didn’t lose their arms, eyes and bits and pieces through the continuous wars of that era, they where now being taken at work by hack saws and bolts of live wire. The OSH, Occupational Safety and Health, has become a standard organization concerned with protecting the safety, health and welfare of employees. They have been in business since the 1950’s, when the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) joined forces to protect the working person. The reasoning behind creating the organization is for general occupational safety and health standards. They cover all aspects from moral, legal to economical. Different states and different countries approach the subject from different angles and different effects, however the main idea always stays the same. The safety of the common man is always first on the list. The fact is, a company needs a good foundation to stand on, and it is the worker that builds the foundation, so it is best for the person at the top to look after the person at the bottom. Celeste writes for Dickies Store, who specialise in Workwear and Protective Clothing for a variety of industrial companies.

One of the most important parts of any business is the storage area, and no matter what kind of goods you manufacture or distribute, you will understand the immense value of having a warehouse or stock control area that is well ordered, and easy to manage. By streamlining the way in which your stock is arranged in order to give you the easiest possible access to goods when you need them, it is possible to increase the efficiency of this essential part of your company. Perhaps the best way of regaining control of your warehouse is through the installation of custom designed industrial storage racks. You will be able to order in the exact amount of shelving that you need, specifying everything from the height of each unit through to the amount of distance between each layer. With Industrial storage racks, you will be able to make the best possible use of all of your storage space. Greater order within systems means that you will be able to have all of your most popular stock in the most easily accessible areas of the warehouse, and also be able to manage the exact amounts of particular materials that you have in stock. Well laid out storage areas allow for much easier access for forklifts and people alike, and ensure that no matter what kind of industry you are in, your business will be running as efficiently as possible in terms of the internal distribution systems that you have in place. Many business owners discover that a lack of space in their facilities can have a massive negative impact on the ability of the company to react to changes in the market and change accordingly. One of the main aims of a modern industrial storage rack installation is that it makes the best possible use of existing storage space, and can usually result in more room being freed up. This additional space that is created by a much more structured system of storage within the warehouse area can then be used to stock more goods, or be turned over to production use if your facility allows, boosting the way in which you use your facilities. In general, proper use of space through the installation of industrial storage racks against walls and in place of existing shelving can double the amount of space that is usable within a particular area, and thanks to the high quality materials that are used in most modern racks, you can buy with confidence that the units are able to handle the heaviest loads that you are likely to place on them. With better storage space management and easier access to the stock that you keep on site, it is possible to make major improvements to the way your business runs with a relatively small investment. By integrating a professional industrial storage rack solution within your warehouse, you can increase the efficiency of a range of internal procedures, and this will increase productivity with all the benefits that that brings to your business.

There really is alot more to industrial lighting then meets the eye and with all the new technological advancements that have been made over the years there is far more to consider now in terms of industrial lighting. Now more than ever there is new and more advanced types of lighting systems that offer you far more choices while increasing efficiency. With electricity costs on the rise and only expoected to increase in the coming future it would be smart to give efficiency consideration when selecting industrial lighting. If how your Light mixtures look is something that you have to give consideration to then you will be pleased to know that industrial lighting systems have come a long way esthetically and you now have more choices than ever before. Another thing to give some consideration to is the climate that you will be using the Lighting in because there is industrial lighting that is specifically manufactured to withstand wetter climates now. One thing that you might give some consideration to is seeking out the advice of an expert that can help you with your schematics, so you will get the maximum effect from your industrial lighting. If you are going to be lighing the interior of a building then you will also want to take into account the amount of heat that the lights will be giving off, because some lights give off less heat then others. A great Light to use to light a large area is the thousand watt metal halide lamp but it does use alot of power and the light itself has life span of a few years at most. These are the lights that are used at football stadiums and race tracks. These types of lamps also come in smaller sizes as well and are often used to Light large stores.

Speed is everything when it comes to trade and commerce. You might have the best ice cream sundae in the world, but if it takes you an hour to make it and another hour to deliver it, you've lost a lot of potential customers. In our field of editorial stock photography, the same holds true. Independent stock photographers have historically been the David attempting to battle with the Goliath. The advent of large conglomerates in our industry (I can think of five of them) has sent a chill through the world of stock photo photographers. "Will I be shouldered out into the cold?" many independents ask. The answer might have been "Yes" if the question were asked fifteen years ago. Back then the technology to compete would have cost the average independent photography business $150,000 to $300,000. "Out of the question," you would have said then. Today, it's very different. We are seeing the cost of hardware and software, and related services, dropping dramatically. The equivalent technology today is in the range of $4,000 to $10,000. A small business today, armed with the correct hardware and software, can effectively compete with the stock agency conglomerates. YOUR ADVANTAGE You have two areas to your advantage: speed and price. Any traditional conglomerate is bogged down with costly dinosaur-like administration. And paradoxically, this administration adds to the price of their product. In contrast, when photobuyers deal with you, they deal directly. No middleman is involved, further reducing the per-photo fee to the buyer. If the aggregate stock photo collections of independent individual photographers totals more than 450,000,000 photos, why don't more photobuyers today use independent photographers rather than the large stock agencies? Because we're not quite there yet. Not enough photographers are knowledgeable about what's called "eCommerce." Photobuyers are not ready to abandon traditional shopping behavior. And without a built-in network to jump aboard, independents find themselves floating aimlessly in cyberspace. Such a network is taking shape, however, on the Internet. Daily, more and more photo researchers are finding that by using the Web, they can eliminate costly hours of searching for "just-right" images. They can also save money by buying directly from the source (you). HAPPY CUSTOMERS Using Amazon.com, the cyber bookseller, as an example, we can draw a parallel to this situation. Amazon.com is not a book publisher, (not yet, at least) but a go-between for booksellers and people who shop via the Internet. Amazon.com fulfills orders and receives a percentage of the revenue for its work. But Amazon.com, given the present state of the Internet, does nothing different than what book publishers could also do themselves -- thus reducing delivery time and eliminating commissions to Amazon.com. This would make customers happy. Search systems on the Internet now allow customers to find what they're looking for in a matter of seconds. Common sense tells us, for example, there's no need to go through a middleman to find a book, if you can find it on the Web directly through the publisher. This eliminates both the sales unit and the distributor entirely. No doubt in the near future, publishers will set up their own cyber mall Internet service and supply customers with their products directly. The technology is there. Can you see the parallel here? In the near future, savvy photo researchers will not need the handholding from one of the conglomerates to find their photos. Using the increasing power of the Internet, the researchers will go swiftly to the source of the image (the photographer) and deal directly with the source (you) for delivery of the product. Mitch Kezar, a Minneapolis-based photographer with a specialty in outdoors, especially hunting dogs, fishing, and winter sports, is one of the pioneers who are proving that this way of doing business is about to explode on the scene. He is already successful at it with a number of his clients. He's currently busy expanding, scanning 12,000 hunting/fishing/outdoor images to put up for sale on the Internet. "Our site uses a keyword searchable data base to guide buyers through. First they can review thumbnail-size images, then by clicking on them they can see a 5x7 image they can drag to a shopping basket. Which, then, of course, can be emailed or called in to my office. We then ship the buyer the slide they want FedEx, or if they want a digitized image we scan the photo at a high res and digitally fulfill the request, or send straight digital images. "We've polled about 200 customers, who have shown great interest in being able to call up exactly what they're looking for, from someone who knows the difference between a flushing dog and a retrieving dog, or a slip sinker from spinning bait. "Our clients have lamented to us about experiences with calling large photo agencies for such niche-market images, only to find themselves wading through 300 pulled images, all of them wrong content." Such efficiency as what Mitch offers will appeal to everyone in the photo buying community. And individual stock photographers will find themselves sought after.

Most likely what will prevent you or your business from dominating your market is the failure to recognize the efficiencies provided by the Internet and computer technology. The procurement of aircraft parts can be one of the most inefficient processes on earth if not approached in the correct manner. The opportunity cost associated with searching for parts can be enormous. Some companies just accept the time drain of searching and calling as a normal cost of doing business. These companies will be the ones that struggle the most in the coming years. The search for parts is only going to become more difficult as chips and boards become obsolete at the fastest rates ever. If you can't find the part fast, the hidden cost of prolonged part procurement will sink you. Savvy parts suppliers anticipated the need for simplified sourcing systems, and have developed databases and search engines to make sourcing simpler than ever. The key for you is finding these data repositories and leveraging their enormous potential to make your life easier and your company more profitable. Often times, navigating complex data bases via search engines, can be a daunting task for someone who doesn't have much experience with procurement. Maybe they just got the order from higher up to “just find it”. “ I don't care how you do it, or how long it takes you, just find me that (insert expletive here) part.” Well, the truth of the matter is, they do care how you do it , and they do care how long it takes you. And finding aircraft parts that meet strict regulations and design tolerances is obviously no easy task. If you come up empty handed after your search, what options are you left with? Most likely only one, the dreaded, expensive, redesign. Not good. Diminishing manufacturing sources and material shortages will continue to increase costs at an astounding rate in the next few years. Commodities are experiencing bull market runs like we have never seen before. Adding wasted time into the cost equation simply results in a slow, inefficient business model. Trouble shooting and finding parts fast has always been important, but now, as more parts are outsourced, inventory management will truly be the cornerstone to a successful operation. The procurement specialist is faced with two options: training themselves or staff, to perfect a sourcing process, or pay someone to do it for you. The latter is usually the wisest choice. Take advantage of the economies of scale that businesses have created. Finding an experienced business is all one needs to do in today's technological intensive parts environment. Let these companies work for you at a cost that is far cheaper than a drawn out sourcing search. They will have systems in place designed to trouble shoot your specific problems. Most likely you are not the only person on the planet to have experienced the problem, someone else may have had the same issue, or at least something similar. Harness the power of the experiences of all the people who deal with these issue every day, and your life will be much easier.

In an effort to help industrial distributors and manufacturers thrive, Commence Corporation presents Practices That Pay: Leveraging Information to Achieve Industrial Selling Results, a compendium of smart practices from the leading industrial sales and marketing experts and organizations that are growing in today’s challenging environment. For a demo of the Commence CRM for Industry go to: http://commence.com/democenter.asp. According to Larry Caretsky, President of Commence Corporation (www.commence.com) Industrial organizations without a sales process often exhibit the following symptoms: • Disconnected and manual approach to selling, slowing down the sales cycle. • Takes too long to find prospects, get quotes out the door, and close orders. • Irritated prospects, who want what they want when they want it, not when your salespeople can get to it. • Annoyed top sales employees. They want to sell, not figure out the best way to get prospects in the pipeline, quotes created, orders entered, and shipments delivered. • Abundant costly errors, evidenced by expedited orders and high volumes of returns. • Inadequate margin on too many quotes, resulting in deflated profitability. • Stagnant sales from what you thought were your most important customers. • Engineering and other departments are pulled into disarray when your sales team gets a request for proposal or learns about a bid opportunity. Many industrial executives voice issues similar to these, yet the remedy seems to be incredibly difficult. Some industrial sales teams are extremely autonomous, and management struggles to avoid “big brother” accusations and micromanaging. Despite these legitimate concerns, it is possible for industrial distributors and manufacturers to successfully implement a sales process. The high level steps to implement a sales process culled from industry experts and smart industrial sales organizations are: 1. Document your sales process; 2. Design your implementation; 3. Train your sales team; 4. Support the implementation. Commence offers industrial companies complete “Freedom Of Choice” to select the solutions and platform that best meets the business requirements of manufacturers and distributors. The comprehensive CRM Industrial application suite is available for use on premise or on-demand as a hosted service. Industrial leaders often build departmental CRM solutions with the award winning Commence Industrial CRM Framework. These choices are why so many industrial companies choose Commence as the solution for managing customer relationships. All Commence Industrial solutions support mobile or wireless connectivity and integration to back-office accounting and ERP systems.

Industrial Products Finder was visualized and conjunction as an industrial new-industrial products-news monthly by R.V. Pandit, and was launched as such in October 1972. Right from the first issue, more than 34 years ago, the journal contained unique features. It showcased exactly what the name of the journal proclaimed: Industrial Products Finder. It carries only advertisements and article on industrial products, which is awaited news in industry and online circles. The magazine, being industry-centric in nature, is made available only through prepaid annual (1-year and 3-year, and 5-year) subscriptions to businesses, industries and technical/managerial personnel, so as to avoid wastage. Yet, there have been dramatic changes. Over the years, the journal has grown in size and reach. It is so popular that it is simply known as IPF in industrial circles. It is so useful to readers that anybody in industry who gets to examine it becomes its subscriber. As a standing testimony to its reputation, thousands of subscribers who initially subscribed to the early issues of IPF from 1972 are still its subscribers even today.

At the beginning of 19 Century, textile industry had much progress further than the rubber industry. Therefore, it’s found that, the research studied for the used of forest rubber during the past period had depended on the clothes from textile industry as component to make the mold. Either to make the waterproof coat or elastic cloth or the rubber air-tub, etc. Therefore, the world first rubber industrial factory which belonged to Englishman, Thomas Hancock which had established in 1820 and the 2nd factory which belonged to Scottish, the Macintosh in 1823 which had produced waterproof coat that had used clothes from textile industry. Even though both factories had produced the same products but using the different technique. Charles Macintosh had used coal oil to melt rubber into solution and then using 2 sheets of clothes to cover both sides to allow solution in the middle. Thomas Hancock had used the grinding and kneading machine to grind to soften before melting and pressing into sheet’s texture, and then cutting to make working pieces afterward, such as kneepad, gloves and belt, etc. Even though both factories’ productions had quality problem, i.e. when using for a long time, if the weather had turned cold, it would become hard and fragile or if the weather were hot then it would turn into sludge and melted. But the invention of Hancock’s grinding and kneading machine was considered as the revolution for rubber industry, because the grinding and kneading machine was the 2 rolls kneading machine which was the origin of the kneading and mixing machine either the internal or external mixing machine and it’s also sparkling the idea to create crape grinding machine that’s used in the factory to produce Block rubber at later time. Even the raw rubber sheet-kneading machine, which had been used these days also, had the origin from Thomas Hancock’s kneading machine as well. Therefore, the grinding & kneading machine had become the all purposed machine for cutting, kneading into sheet, or mixing various rubber types into one texture, by appropriately adjusting the roll interval and the speeding revolution ratio of the roller between the front and the back roller. Rubber which had been through the kneading machine for many times would become hot and softened, so it would be easily pressed into the mold and when it’s been soaked in the solution, it would melt faster. Therefore, Thomas Hancock’s kneading machine was considered as prototype machine that had originated to other machines, which were being used in almost all kinds of industry. Either in rubber product industry or even the raw rubber industry at present. Later in 1836, Edwin Chaffe, an America had successfully continued the Hancock’s invention by connecting the heat wave into the mixing machine and knead-coating machine to soften rubber to become slice-film faster, resulted in waterproof coat processing to have high efficiency, but problem on quality still remained as before, Until around 1838-44, Thomas Handcock and Charles Goodyear had successfully discovered the vulcanization method, by grinding and mixing with sulfate powder and zinc oxide into the rubber texture and then pressed with the heat under high pressure. From soft working pieces would become new pieces with strong and tough, either in any temperature, hot or cold, however, the cured rubber still maintain the original condition. Therefore, the unsolved problem on broken or fragile when cold and sludge when hot for many years had been solved. When problem on quality had been solved, the rubber industry in Europe & America had expanded very quickly. The Dam is full of water up to the top, once opens the dam, everything is flowing smoothly without interruption! Therefore, Rubber Industrial Historian had taken the day of Thomas Hancock and Charles Goodyear’s method finding to cure rubber as the starting date for the world’s rubber industrial era and again in this day, was the day that human had started to learn the method to cultivate forest rubber tree, because, the existing forest rubber trees hadn’t got enough for sales, whatever the volume, how expensive, it’s all sold out. Not long after the discovery of rubber curing method, there had been discovered the method to produce Ebonite which had similar method to making cured rubber, only to use more of sulfate powder and to use higher heat temperature. Ebonite is solid rubber like plywood or concrete sheet but lighter in weight, no toxic sustained from acid and alkaline and also insulated to heat and electricity. So, it’s suitable to use in making household appliance, product tanks, battery shell and heat insulator, etc. Many of expensive brand name fountain pens are also made from ebonite. Luck’s still with rich man side again, i.e. in 1846 Andrew Parkes, an Englishman has successfully discovered the curing method under normal condition by dipping the working piece in the sulfur chloride solution instead of pressing with heat. Even though it could use with only small object but it was much convenience and faster than pressing with heat method. It’s the initial point of creating rubber product industry that has small sizes we have used at present. In 1846, Thomas Hancock was able to successfully invent solid tyre for Queen Victoria’s horse cart. It was considered as the starting point for rubber tyre industry that we have used at present. Therefore, after discovered the curing process or approx. in mid 19th century, there’s new rubber products being produced as seen in the Rubber Products Expo in London, 1851 and in Paris 1855. Most of the products were household furniture made from Ebonite, odorless rubber raincoat, elastic cloth, solid tyres, rubber shoes and air mattress, etc.
