When making a printer purchase, there are many options to consider. One feature that most people forget about is the significance of the envelope feeder. Although some printers come complete with envelope feeders, not everyone realizes the benefits of purchasing one if it not included with your printer. The amount of time saved by the elimination of printing and sticking labels is an important advantage when an envelope feeder is attached to your printer. Business mailings become simple and efficient because the envelope feeder allows you to place a stack of about 100 envelopes in the tray and print individually. Your result is a crisp, clean professional looking envelope that saves both time and money. Without having to stick labels you eliminate the extra step. In life we are presented with so many opportunities that claim you can earn your riches in no time. Envelope stuffing is one such opportunity. However, envelope stuffing can soon become a pain, and could leave you with no returns. I speak from experience. You are young and looking to make more cash. You want to raise start up capital to run your own businesses. You want to earn so much success in your life, but stuffing envelopes will not get you rich, they will get you frustrated. Why is stuffing envelopes so bad in making cash? Well for one, usually you have to pay to get started. This is fathomable as the company is sending you envelopes and printed paper which costs cash. And the fact is, you may very likely be a person genuinely wanting to make cash with them, however the truth is a lot of people who join will always never do anything. The other part which is not apparent is that when you return completed stuffing the envelopes and sent it back, some unscrupulous companies will come up with excuses not to pay you. This can become very frustrating and soon rob you of your dreams to become a entrepreneur. Many people settle for mediocrity. ::: Be different ::: Stuffing envelopes, filling in quizzes and reviews to make cash won't make you cash. Now remember, you will make cash, however, considering that it will work out at only a couple of dollars an hour is a total waste of your effort. There are many ways to earn cash, though it seems difficult when you don't know how to make cash. Remember your level of service and the value you give others will determine how much cash you ultimately make. Read that last bit again and remember that. That is a key to becoming wealthy. Your mindset will make or break you. People want you to work by the hour; you get a certain amount of cash for a certain amount of work. This is an employee mindset, and you need to break out of that to achieve the kind of success you seek. Do you need to put in effort to get wealthy? Yes. Your first time trying to make cash by yourself will be a big hurdle. It will require years of learning. If you want short cuts to success, they won't take place. You must learn and learning is a process which can be done the easy way with your own experiences or by learning from others. You could also try making cash online. This can be amazing as there are so many ways to earn cash online. One thing to remember though when starting on the journey to actually being a entrepreneur, and that is don't get stuck on the "buy all get rich quick" products, books, etc Though there are some gems contained in some, it is more NOT worth your time or cash. Concentrate on learning from the success stories.

Need help in printing artworks for your company envelopes? Envelope printing can be fairly uncomplicated, especially when you forego the use of your home printer. You don’t have to make various configurations for you to print envelopes successfully. All your need is a professional printer and you are through with it in a breeze. If you’re thinking of printing a large volume, let us say, something that falls between 500 and 20,000 look no further. Right online, you can acquire the services of a professional printing company without leaving your seat. Professional envelope printing can be such an efficient way to print company envelopes. They use a variety of colors and offer custom printing too to accommodate your needs. With advance printing equipment, more high-quality envelopes can be printed at a lower print cost and shorter turn around times. Repeat prints can also be cheaper in case you need to have second helpings in the future. Other options such as paper stock and design templates are also available for use. But before you jump in and commit to a job order, please take the time to review these steps. You need to prepare all the necessary things for your envelope to turn out perfectly. 1. Envelope size –Asking and looking at samples online or other companies’ envelopes can help you decide what type you or your company need. Use the traditional legal envelope to accommodate all kinds of documents. It will fit nicely and hold many document size and thickness. It is also ideal if you and your company want a conservative yet polished, classic look. However, you can also opt for other custom sizes that will better hold bulky catalogs or bigger postcards for your marketing campaign. 2. Paper type – Will you be using white wove, brown craft or plain white paper for your company envelope? You can also specify whether you can afford a special type of paper stock or would you need offset paper. Undecided? A 70lb Text Stock is a heavy, high-grade paper that would give you true quality. It holds your print’s colors more steadfast, consequently, making prints dazzling and all design more pronounced. 3. Color – Will you be using just one color for the artwork and the text or several? 4 color printing is a wiser choice for it allows you to fully capture your company’s logo and text colors. This is advantageous for it allows you to become more recognized with your signature brand and company colors. Four color printing, no matter how small the details, will give you precise prints consistently. You do not have to settle for prints that look smudged or blurry. Now your recipient can identify easily who is it from – YOU. 4. Logo - Do you have a polished artwork ready for printing or are you still working on the logo that you will have printed on the envelope? Remember, logos are highly personalized. If you plan to use it for a considerable period of time, it will make sense to get professional help. A graphic designer or graphic artist has the skill and knowledge to help you design a logo that is truly representative of your company. But it doesn’t mean that they won’t need your inputs. On the contrary, you will be needed in every step of the way until the logo is finalized. Prepare a considerable amount of time for the artist to capture what you had envisioned in mind. Never underestimate what a properly-designed logo can do for your company. In fact, it may just provide you with a subtle advantage over other businesses. 5. Custom – Do not limit yourself with the options given to you by printers. Tell them you are very much interested in asserting your own identity in the market. If you’d like to start and complete your entire look with envelope printing, then do so. Professional printers have access to a lot of materials necessary to complete your request. Ask them about different processes and how you would go about achieving a particular look, feel or texture to your envelopes. A good printer can provide you with the solutions to your needs. Think hard and visualize. Let your imagination soar along with your creativity. Envelope printing can help you jumpstart your way to developing a highly distinguished corporate image that you have always dreamed of for your company. For in business, an envelope isn’t too big or small to show everyone just who you really are. It has and holds its own place in important business correspondence and will continue to do so in years to come.

This article is geared more towards small and medium enterprises requiring runs of 100,000 pieces or less. The same advice applies to larger runs too but it's not quite as big an issue. On the larger runs, the high setup costs I mention below are more easily absorbed into the entire sots of the job and may only contribute 10-20% to the job cost. On smaller runs, tooling and setup costs can easily make up over 50% of the cost of envelope production. Having worked in the direct mail industry for a number of years, I've seen many mistakes made, some avoidable, some not so. I can honestly say that one of the most frequent and most avoidable errors I've seen made is not applying any thought to the envelope until the last minute. A little forward planning in this respect can save a lot of frustration, and ultimately a lot of money. You can also achieve a lot more with envelope design if you have time, and some good advice from your friendly envelope manufacturer. There is a primer on envelope production here, which will give you an indication of why it's a bad idea to leave it until the last minute. In brief though, envelope machines are big! They can take hours to set up, and it's still very much a case of allen keys and spanners to adjust them. Special sizes can be enormously expensive to produce unless the quantity of envelopes required is very large. There lots of disciplines that make up a direct mail pack of which envelope production is only one. When compared to other areas such as copywriting or printing of the inserts, the production of the envelope can seem insignificant. Thinking this way has the potential to be a big mistake. The envelope may seem insignificant, and in terms of cost the envelope quite possibly is one of the most insignificant parts of the pack. Realistically though, you can't send the pack without an envelope. Your carefully designed, printed and copywritten pack has very little value until you have an envelope because you can't send it until you have one. So, when you plan your pack, think about the envelope at the same time and ask yourself a few questions. Does the size of the pack that you have designed correspond with a slightly larger sized envelope available from a wholesaler? If it does, then good, but you're still not home and dry yet. If a stock envelope is available, do you need to print it? You almost certainly will if it's a bulk mailing. Overprinting is a cheap option for stock envelopes but is your design suitable to overprint? There are some considerations and compromises that must be made for overprinting envelopes, and especially for overprinting envelopes in four colours. These are too numerous to mention, but any professional envelope overprinting company will be able to advise on this. At this stage you may have established that your envelope design can be overprinted, and that you have a stock envelope available easily. If that's the case you can rest easy. You may, however, have discovered that a stock envelope isn't available, or your design isn't suitable to overprint. If that's the case, you need to be thinking about a special making of bespoke envelopes. In this instance, pre-printing your envelopes as flat sheets becomes a possibility and you can also overprint on bespoke envelopes, but the actual making is now a major consideration. There are two main kinds of envelope production, reel fed and blank (pre-cut envelope shapes) fed. It's unlikely that you will be able to make the envelope from the reel since you have already established that there isn't a stock envelope available, or that you can't overprint. In either of these scenarios, it's likely that you will need to producing an envelope from blanks. With blank fed production you need to check for availability of a cutting tool. These are extremely expensive to make, and there can be very long lead times. If you want to avoid the cost of this tooling then early planning will see you obtaining a list of cutting tools from your envelope supplier, that are close to the size you need. Provided tooling is available you then need to ensure your envelope is ready in good time. Again though, the simplest advice is to plan ahead. Find yourselves a reliable and knowledgeable envelope producer and ask their advice at the earliest opportunity. If they know their onions, then they will be able to advise how to stay within any budget you may have, artwork specifications to work to and when you need to think about ordering. Lead times can be surprisingly long in the envelope world, and you don't want to be the unfortunate soul who has to order bespoke envelopes at the last minute. You can bet, it will cost you extra to do so.

Tips for Printing #23- Stay out of the spam bucket The mail carrier brings you a stack. Being a busy business person, you immediately begin sorting. Sometimes you even sort over the trash can. Naturally, the most important mail is perhaps a check. Whoopee! In any event, you are looking for familiar correspondence, payments, invoices and items from accepted sources while dumping items that do not appear interesting. You are an spam filter operating an analog trash can. Of course you may be too busy to open your own mail, then your administrative assistant probably gets the chore of deciding what's worthy of your attention. In the pile you spy an envelope that looks legit and therefore want to open it even if it does have a standard rate (bulk) postage indicia. Checking the type of postage indicia is usually a good spam filtering rule. Someone who has spent the money for first class postage is automatically in at least the "look at it later" pile. The last filtering rule you probably use is appearance of the envelope. Well, chances are the reason it looks interesting is because of the imprinted design features. Is Your Envelope an Effective Marketing Tool? Put the shoe on the other foot for a moment. Say that you are the one mailing to a prospective customer. You want your envelope opened, don't you? Maybe it is time to conduct an audit of your envelope. You worked hard to get just the right look for your business card, did you do the same for your analog correspondence container (envelope)? If humans were digital appearance and emotions would not be a factor. A plain white #10 business envelope with black type may be an efficient means of delivering your message, but it is probably not an effective marketing tool. Bridging the gap between efficiency and effectiveness is pretty easy when you add a couple of elements. The main elements are color and graphic. You don't have to spend a lot on the envelope stock. Ordinary white envelopes work great when color and graphics are applied. The point is that the attention to detail is relevant. Graphics and colors set moods and themes. Will Your Envelope Get Opened? Naturally, you can do the design work yourself with a simple layout program like Microsoft Publisher or you can hire a professional designer to create a layout and graphic befitting your business. Graphic designers can set a mood or a look for your correspondence with ink colors and font styles in ways you never thought. Amateurs typically use too many typefaces with poorly coordinated colors that make the graphic elements hard to read or unpleasant to look at. Consider what you are offering to the prospective analog spam sorter. What kind of presence does you envelope convey? Is the correspondence casual or formal? Here is a thought, if you are flexible, change your layout for the season. Once again, if you are creative, do it yourself or hire a designer to create an envelope look for each season and holiday. When you are making multiple contacts with prospects this is a sure way to get attention. Assuming your envelope is addressed to the right party, getting it past the trash can and at least into the look-at-it-later pile can be leveraged with design features. Take a self-audit and consider what you are mailing. Do your envelopes convey the right message at the right time to the right party?

I'm pretty sure you have seen advertisements across the internet claiming you can make extra money stuffing envelopes. Most “home based business enthusiastsâ€ have tried it at least once or twice in their lifetime. The scheme usually goes like this: A company you find on the internet, or find in a magazine, will claim you will be paid to stuff envelopes for them. They will say you will get paid $1, $2, as much as $5 sometimes per envelope you stuff. You are only asked to pay a one time registration fee of $20 - $40. They make you believe that all you have to do is fold and stuff papers, stuff them in envelopes, then wait for your paychecks to come in the mail. Many people find these types of opportunities appealing because of the low start up cost and they figure they can stuff envelopes in their spare time. Risk is low because all they are investing is $20 - $40 to potentially make $1,000 a week... So what's the deal with this envelope stuffing business? Are they just hype or can you follow their directions and get rich as the ads claim? Read on for the truth you must know about stuffing envelopes. The first problem is there is always a catch. Anything that sound too good to be true, and way too easy, usually is too good to be true. Every envelope stuffing scam I have ever tried in the past has always come with a catch: For example, they may advertise that you can make $1 per envelope stuff. But in order to receive your $1 a person has to buy $100 worth of the products advertised in the catalogs you stuff into envelopes! The second problem is commission based earnings. Commission based earnings isnâ€TMt a problem within itself. The problem with envelope stuffing is that most people do not expect their earnings to be commission based! You “registerâ€ with the belief that you are going to be paid to stuff envelopes…thatâ€TMs it! The commissions based earning scale is a disadvantage because this is not what people signed up for. To top it all off, the products sold in the catalogs you are “paidâ€ to stuff in envelopes usually arenâ€TMt that good to begin with. This decreases the likelihood that you will make sales, thus decreasing the likelihood that you will earn you commissions. The third problem is additional investments. In most envelope stuffing programs the company you “registerâ€ with will only provides you with the sales material they want you to stuff into envelopes. Usually you have to purchase the stamps and envelopes yourself! Most consumers are blind sighted by these extra investments. The fourth problem is unethical business practices by companies. Letâ€TMs go out on a limb and say that the sale literature you stuff into envelopes actually converts sales. Many times I have found that companies owing you commission payments will claim your envelopes didnâ€TMt “qualify.â€ What does this mean? To be honest folks I have never gotten a straight answer to this question from any of the companies Iâ€TMve ever worked with. I speculate that they never truly intended on paying people to begin with. Conclusion There have been thousands of people who have fallen victim of envelope stuffing scams. People who simply want to earn an extra income from the comfort of their homes find themselves cheated by con artists who take advantage of their financial situation. There are legitimate companies out there offering real work at home opportunities for those interested. Unfortunately, home based business scams are at an all time high. It has become harder to find legitimate work from home operations. So, if you are planning on trying one of those envelope stuffing schemes you've seen across the internet and advertised in newspapers and magazines, use common sense and the guidelines above to avoid falling victim to these infamous scams!

Many years ago I started looking into the income opportunities that I saw advertised in the back of certain magazines. These ads were intriguing to me because I was young, and didnâ€TMt have a lot of money. The idea of making good money while doing something extremely easy was very tempting. So, I bit. I sent away for the information (back in those days it was a flyer or sales letter you got via snail mail). The adâ€TMs title probably said something like this: Make $200 to $500 a week stuffing envelope from home. Since Iâ€TMd had experience stuffing envelopes while doing office jobs, I knew this was something I was qualified to do in my sleep. Oh boy, was I excited about receiving that information. When I got my Make Money at Home Stuffing Envelope kit, it consisted of a set of instructions, and lots of other flyers for get rich quick programs. The instructions told me that all I had to do was have a stack of copies made of the very same flyer that Iâ€TMd just received that promoted free envelope stuffing jobs. Next, Iâ€TMd order a certain amount of “freshâ€ mailing labels to go along with the flyers. Of course, I was in luck because the company that sent me the instructions also conveniently worked with a printing company where I could purchase all my flyers and mailing labels from at the same time. At first I was a little surprised that that was all there was to it. I mean, I thought Iâ€TMd be finding out which legitimate companies would hire me to stuff envelopes for them from home. Instead, I would be offering the same opportunity I got to other people and would make money from the company when those people placed orders through my mailings. Oh yeah, thatâ€TMs the other part. I was required to spend my own money for postage and flyers, of which I was sure Iâ€TMd make it all back after getting lots of orders (with my affiliate ID attached) from people who were as eager as me to buy flyers and posters to make easy money from home. Ha! Needless to say, I never got a dime from that company. I was taken in by the old envelope stuffing scam and there was nothing I could do about it but take my lumps and move on. Unfortunately, I moved on to mailing out other get rich quick opportunities (what can I say? I was a slow learner). If you are considering a stuffing envelope from home opportunity, stop right here and donâ€TMt give these offers any more of your time. If you take the bait, you will only lose hundreds of dollars, your valuable time, and feel foolish for being gullible. Believe me, I know what that feels like. After several years of wasting time and money, I finally figured out who the real get rich quick winners were in this whole scam – the printing companies. Think about it for a second. Business is slow, you figure out you can place an ad that promises instant riches for not much work. Let the interested people know you can print up those nice flyers and mailing labels for them for a nice set fee, then watch the money roll in. What about those fresh mailing labels? There were lots of bad addresses – better known as nixies. The ones that do get delivered are probably quickly tossed in the garbage. How many sales flyers do you keep? Just some food for thought. Real businesses do not need people to stuff envelopes from home - this is a complete pipe dream. Trust me, I have stuffed plenty of envelopes while working various office jobs and this was NEVER outsourced to individuals. Plus, if there is a large mailing, there are automatic machines that do the job quickly and efficiently. I hope I have succeeded in discouraging you from handing over your hard-earned money to these scammers. These companies feed off of peopleâ€TMs desire to make easy money, or those who need to bring additional money in to add to their income, but you wonâ€TMt get any help from them - just empty pockets.

Copyright 2006 Anwar Ahmed Ally A Co-op mailing service is an ideal little home-based business that can be started immediately by just about anybody. Although a little business, it can snowball into a highly successful venture that could provide for you and your family for the rest of your life. If you do it correctly and stick to it, you can earn virtually tens of thousands of dollars monthly whilst providing a much-needed service to businesses. Other advantages of providing this service is that you need not outlay any cash of your own, you buy no equipment, you do not need to do any door to door sales, you can work part-time when it suits you and you can involve your entire family to help you out. There's no experience required - all you need do is read this report and away you go! Simply follow our instructions as listed here and there's no reason to fail. Do this business for as long as you wish - for the rest of your life if you'd like. A Co-op Mailing Service will always be in demand by other businesses in their quest for success. HOW IT ALL WORKS Mail order businesses are always mailing out circulars to prospects. In order for them to do this on an ongoing basis, they have to do the following: Advertise for enquiries to generate a mailing list to send their marketing brochures to, and/or rent mailing lists from a mailing list broker and send their marketing circulars to people on this list. Purchase envelopes and stamps or postage paid envelopes. Have their circulars printed. Fold and stuff envelopes with circulars and seal. Take the completed mail to the post office for posting. THE SERVICE YOU PROVIDE Your duties as a mailing service provider will be to mail out circulars on behalf of these businesses for which you will charge them a fee far lower than what they will pay to do these things on their own. Your clients need only pay you a small fee which is lower than their mailing lists/advertising, postage and labour costs combined. Your clients make contact with you and indicate that they want to make use of your mailing service. They tell you how many they want mailed out and supply you the circulars that must be mailed out. Each client will be quoted on a circular that is one A4 sheet either single or double-sided printed. If a client's circular is more than this, then you must increase your fee accordingly. You will be able to stuff 5-6 such circulars into one envelope, so you will be able to deal with 5-6 clients at the same time provided they all have single A4 circulars, printed either one or two sides. You use your own mailing list or you may rent them at a nominal cost. You buy the required number of envelopes either prepaid or just plain envelopes and standard postage stamps. The mailing list you have or have rented will be in the form of sticky labels. You simply stick these on the envelopes or you may address these envelopes out by hand if you don't have them on labels. Either way works out just fine. You fold and stuff all circulars and seal envelopes. You may employ your own family members to do the laborious tasks of sticking labels, writing out envelopes, folding, stuffing and sealing envelopes. Once the mail is ready, you simply hand them over to your nearest post office. HOW MUCH TO CHARGE In order to figure out how much to charge, you first have to ascertain your total costs per 1000 mailing. Add a 50-75% mark-up to this cost. Now divide the total by the number of clients you have for one mailing. The figure you get is the fee you will charge each client. They'll soon realize that this fee they will pay you is far less than what they would have paid had they done this themselves – and they don't have to do any work too! Remember, your clients pay you this fee first before you do anything. You use part of this payment to pay for stationery/postage costs and the balance is your profits. Hence, you need not outlay any of your own money. FINDING CLIENTS Finding clients should be a relatively easy task. The trick here is to remind your prospective clients of the huge savings they will be making on their mailing. You will also save them time and the hassle of doing the laborious task of preparing and mailing large quantities of circulars. Find clients by searching through many magazine and newspapers that carry a lot of ads from mail order companies. Make contact with these companies and offer your services to them. You may also advertise in the Yellow Pages, on the Internet, in newspapers and magazines. Good Luck!

Envelopes play a significant role in everybody's life, whether it be for personal reasons, such as a wedding invitation or a birthday card, or for business oriented reasons. Perhaps it's a dreaded bill that's arriving in an envelope with a window in the front or maybe it's a small gift, such as a book arriving in a bubble envelope. No matter how you choose to look at it- envelopes make a difference in our busy world. And for that reason the choice of envelope for your document, whatever it may be, is of utmost importance. And remember that some kinds of stationery can be purchased as a set, with envelopes to go with it, while in other cases you have to buy each item separately. Put thought into the type of envelope you need to purchase and the particular function it must play. For seasonal stationery look for envelopes with a festive slant, such as vibrant red, silver, green or even envelopes with drawings of brightly decorated Christmas trees or wreaths. Wedding invitations in envelopes with a sleek feel to them and gold or silver embossing on the inside are always the desirable way to go and should appeal to wedding guests as well as the bride and groom themselves. A business size envelope is what we talk about when we say regular or standard size envelope. These envelopes are available in letter size and also the longer version, the legal sized envelope. Letter size is just that, most often used for casual, personal communication, for example among family and friends while the legal envelope is employed by businesses for sending everything from promotions to proposals to invoices. The legal size envelope to be found in most offices is the # 10 envelope. If you took a ruler and measured this envelope you would discover that it is 4 1/8 x 9 1/2. The reason for its popular status is that most people send correspondence on letter sized paper, which is 8 1/2 x 11 and the # 10 envelope is perfect for paper of this size. But business envelopes do not end there. There are also other sizes and they are, the # 11 (measuring 4 1/2 x 10 3/8), the # 12 (4 3/4 x 11) and last but not least, the # 14 (5 X 11 1/2). These are also used regularly by businesses. Generally the choice of envelopes ends up boiling down to personal choice on the part of those who do the buying. A-series envelopes are used a lot in bustling office places because they are both elegant in appearance and come in six different, but all equally valuable styles and those styles include the A-2, the A-6, the A-7, the A-8, the A-long and the A-10. They also come in different weights- 60, 70 and 80 so they fit a variety of documents and papers. Catalog or open-end envelopes are worthwhile for mailing items with a greater thickness, such as a series of pamphlets or brochures, magazines or proposals. They have two flaps but one is much larger than the other, which makes a great deal of difference when packing bigger items into the envelope. Sending messages via e-mail is fast and simple but sometimes it is necessary to send printed material through the postal service. Remember that your mail should fit snugly in the envelope you choose but it should not run the risk of breaking open! Pay close attention as you seal the envelope and if you think you've chosen an inappropriately sized envelope choose another.

“Earn $1000’s Weekly Stuffing Envelopes.” “Want to Work From Home? Here’s your Chance at $12 per Envelope.” “Stuffing Envelope Jobs – Earn Thousands Weekly at Home! $5 per Envelope. Start Now.” Any of the above ads look familiar? They should. Every last one of them is an actual ad that I found. They are plastered everywhere whether it’s the Newspaper, Magazine Ads and even on the Internet. How many of you actually believe those ads? Believe it or not, many people actually do believe them. Years ago, I was one of them. I kept seeing these ads over and over again so I figured they were legitimate. I ended up responding to a few of the ads but never heard back from any of them. Surprise, surprise! Actually, back then, I was surprised. I was young and naive and never thought people would lie just to get people’s money. Boy was I wrong. Since that time, I’ve come across several other people who fell for those outrageous claims. I even have a family member who fell for a similar mail out scam and spent over $700 on envelopes and stamps and even went to Kinko’s to have the circular printed out. How much did he make on that Envelope Stuffing job? Not one dime! I decided to do some research on Envelope Stuffing. I was actually amazed at what I discovered. If you are seriously considering responding to any of these Envelope Stuffing ads, here are some things to consider: • What is required – There are actually several different Envelope Stuffing scams out there, so it depends on which scam you’ve come across. According to the ads, there really isn’t much required at all. You basically just have to stuff envelopes with the company’s mail out or flyer, address the envelope, put postage on it and seal it. Then take the whole package of envelopes to the company so they can mail them out, or some companies want you to take them to the post office and mail them yourself. Now that doesn’t sound so hard, does it? It actually isn’t that hard, the only thing is that many times after you’ve stuffed all the envelopes and followed the directions, these many of these companies will not pay you and use the excuse that you did not do the job according to their requirements. So, they got you to do all that work, which you mailed out then they make an excuse not to pay you. Or, they will claim that none of the envelopes you mailed out brought in a sale. The thing is, they never told you that your pay would be based on commission. Some Envelope Stuffing scams, like the one my family member fell for, require you to purchase all the envelopes, stamps and copies of the circular and have you mail them out to different lists of people (you have to buy a list of prospects as well). You then mail out a copy of the circular and you get to keep all the money people send you. This is a type of pyramid scheme that has been around for years and is still going strong, so beware. Another Envelope Stuffing scam is after you pay them a fee they send you instructions on how to write and place ads (just like the one you fell for). So basically, they are teaching you to scam people like they scammed you. • Do they charge a fee – Do not pay any fee of any kind no matter how small the amount may be. Some companies will claim that the fee is to pay for stamps, supplies, etc. Don’t believe it! A legitimate company who is requiring your services would not ask you to pay any kind of fee for signing up. No company even has the right to ask you for money before you work for them. You are there to perform a service or job for them, so you should not have to pay them anything. Some people may reason that they were only asked to pay anywhere from $1 to $3, which might not seem like a lot of money. But if 3000 people respond to that ad and send them $1 to $3 each, they’ve made $3000 to $9000! That can really ad up especially if they advertised in some of the bigger National magazines. So do your research so you won’t get scammed. • Don’t believe the hype - Any company that tells you that you will be making thousands of dollars by simply stuffing envelopes is lying. Stay away from them. You can not make that much money just by stuffing envelopes. Why do I say that? Well today, most envelope stuffing is done by machine. Manual envelope stuffing is too costly and is done in great volume by high speed machines. No company is going to pay people thousands of dollars every week to stuff envelopes for them when they can invest in these machines and only have to pay for it once. These people make these ridiculous claims because they know that there are gullible people out there looking for easy ways to make money. Open your eyes! Don’t fall for it. You have been warned. • Do your research - You must do your research before getting involved with any company. Don’t just automatically sign up with any company advertising envelope stuffing. Check with the Better Business Bureau to see if there are any complaints against the company. Do a search on Google. Check online forums. Just make sure you do the research. • Are there any legitimate envelope stuffing opportunities out there – Believe it or not, yes there are. These are usually freelance jobs from smaller companies just starting out that can’t afford the envelope stuffing machinery or companies that are trying to see if they get sales resulting from mail outs. I actually worked for a small water purifying company that I did mail outs for. I went there to apply for a secretarial job but it was filled. Instead, they offered me the envelope stuffing job. I was desperate at the time so I took it. It was very time consuming. I used to stuff 4000 envelopes a week. That was a lot of work! I had to get my family to help me. I would bring home the envelopes; my Dad would stuff and seal them. My Mom, sister and I would write out the addresses (we didn’t have the sticky labels to work with). I would place the stamps on them. Then I would take them back to the company and they would write me out a check. I shared the money with my family since they helped me out. It took a lot of time and if I didn’t take time each day to do it, I’d get behind, and then I’d be up late filling out the address and putting the stamps on them. I did that job for a year. • Can you make money Stuffing Envelopes – When I worked for that company, I used to get paid around $210 a week. That was not a lot of money, especially after I shared it with my family for their help. I did because it helped them out each week and it gave me a little extra spending money. • Is it worth the fuss - I had to ask myself if it was worth all the fuss to do that kind of work. Was it worth the lousy $210 I’d get each week? What did my family think about it? We all dreaded it each week, but we liked getting paid. The thing is, by the time I got through splitting the money with my family, there wasn’t much left for me. Plus, I had to report that on MY taxes each year, not my family. So in the long run, it wasn’t worth it for me. You may find it different in your case. • Envelope stuffing is now called "home mailing" or "e-mail processing" - Envelope stuffing is a very popular old scam that's now being repackaged as e-mail processing. These companies are very clever and are realizing that many people are catching on to their scam so they are now changing their wording and calling it something else, but it works the same way as the other Envelope Stuffing scams. Although there are a few legitimate Envelope Stuffing jobs out there, like most too-good-to-be-true offers, Envelope Stuffing jobs are scams that continue to suck new people in year after year. Envelope stuffing is an example of people who use persuasive skills and create an illusion of "easy money" - to lure people in and entice them to send in their money. The FTC is actually cracking down on this type of fraud. Many newspapers are also cracking down on them by not allowing ads for Envelope Stuffing jobs. Despite all their efforts, I don’t think that they will ever stop all the Envelope Stuffing scams out there. Envelope Stuffing scams have been around for over 50 years. It’s one of the oldest scams out there. After reading this article, if you are still interested in Envelope Stuffing jobs, please do your research on the company and remember not to pay for anything up front. Personally, I would find other ways to make money. Legitimate work at home jobs can easily be found, if you know where to look. It’s all about research. To Your Success, Anna Allen

I did because it helped them out each week and it gave me a little extra spending money. Is it worth the fuss - I had to ask myself if it was worth all the fuss to do that kind of work. Was it worth the lousy $210 I d get each week? What did my family think about it? We all dreaded it each week, but we liked getting paid. The thing is, by the time I got through splitting the money with my family, there wasn t much left for me. Plus, I had to report that on MY taxes each year, not my family. So in the long run, it wasn t worth it for me. You may find it different in your case. Envelope stuffing is now called "home mailing" or "e-mail processing" - Envelope stuffing is a very popular old scam that's now being repackaged as e-mail processing. Despite all their efforts, I don t think that they will ever stop all the Envelope Stuffing scams out there. Envelope Stuffing scams have been around for over 50 years. It s one of the oldest scams out there. After reading this article, if you are still interested in Envelope Stuffing jobs, please do your research on the company and remember not to pay for anything up front. Personally, I would find other ways to make money. Legitimate work at home jobs can easily be found, if you know where to look. It s all about research. To Your Success, Anna Allen

If you use direct mail it's in your best interest to get as much of it opened and read as possible. You may have spent a small fortune on the copywriting and the expensively printed brochure, but if you don't ensure that as many packs are opened and read as possible, then both copy and brochure are wasted. There are two main schools of thought on how to avoid being binned. The first is to use disguise, and the second to use persuasion. Using disguise is mainly a business to business approach but it works for business to consumer mailings too. Business to business promotional mailings are marked out in that they don't appear to have been handled individually. This can be indicated by an envelope pre-printed with a postage mark, and use of a window or address labels to show an address. Try one or more of the following to give the envelope a more individual look. Use stamps. They have to have been put on by hand, so it must be individual. There's no more obvious an indicator than a pre-printed stamp impression. When a preprinted impression is used in conjunction with a window envelope it practically screams advertising so don't do it. Hand write the address on the envelope. This is probably only viable for higher value items but will certainly get more attention this way. It doesn't have to be copperplate, it just needs to look as though it's been handled individually. Use an unusual material for the envelope, say vellum or a textured paper. In tests conducted by a paper merchant, this alone increased responses significantly. The additional cost for the special paper was more than compensated for by the additional revenue generated by the mailing. Again, do anything to make your mailing appear more individual and personal to the recipient. Probably the most important element is the use of stamps. This on it's own can be enough to get you under the recipient's radar. Secondly, use persuasive tactics. This is completely the opposite from disguise and is used mainly for business to consumer, but again it works for business to business too. In this instance we mark it out specifically as commercial by using advertising images, copy and headlines on the outside of the envelope itself. In this instance it doesn't matter if you use a printed postal impression. Unlike the previous method which uses curiosity to get your envelope opened, we need to give the recipient a good reason to open the envelope. This can take a variety of forms, but as a couple of examples you can state a benefit, "Increase sales by 15%", or alternatively provide an incentive, "Reply by the end of the month and get 2 for the price of 1". Be very clear and very specific about what the contents are going to achieve and remember you are only trying to get the envelope opened and read. Avoid anything vague. Don't expect to appeal to everyone using this method. You don't have that much room on the envelope, and you can't be all things to all people. Hopefully you will achieve a strong enough response in a small percentage of recipients that they open, and read the contents. Your persuasive copy will follow on logically from the envelope copy, and keep your prospect interested. There is a lot of advise against this in business to business direct mail, and there is probably an element of truth in this. If you are mailing to an executive whose mail is screened then it's likely good advice. However there are plenty of owner/managers out there that still open their own mail, if the offer or benefit is clear enough and of interest, it will get opened. You may well consign your mailing piece to the bin for the 99.5% of your prospects by doing this, but it wasn't about them was it? In summary it's pretty simple. Don't be run of the mill. Step away from the norm and make sure your envelope is overtly commercial with a clear benefit or incentive or alternatively make it look it personal. If you do this you are halfway to getting it read and that's more than half the battle.

You’ve seen the ads: “Make $1800.00 a month stuffing envelopes!” or “Put simple crafts together, work from home!” They often go on to say that they will pay you a dollar for each craft or envelope you stuff. You only need to pay for the kit to get started (which is typically around thirty dollars). Sounds pretty good if it were true, which is where the problem lies. It isn’t true. Envelope stuffing scams have been here long before the Internet gave them a new way to entice people. They used to run classified ads in newspapers or on the back sections of magazines. The ads haven’t changed, only where they run the ads have. Typically you pay for a box of supplies to start stuffing envelopes. In most cases what you are putting in is advertising designed to entice more people to stuff envelopes. You pay the postage. It is likely that you don’t get paid a dime unless one of the envelopes you stuffed goes to a person who in turn pays the thirty or so dollars to start their “envelope stuffing” business. So out of hundreds of envelopes sent maybe 1% or less will actually send money to start this kind of business (or more accurately, scheme). So you have sent hundreds of envelopes, paid postage and wasted hours and hours of your time to make one dollar (if you were lucky). Sometimes, these envelope-stuffing jobs don’t even send you envelopes or stuffing advertisements. They may just send you a box of instructions on how to make money by advertising the same scheme you just bought into. There again, if you follow the instructions, you will be paying advertising costs that may run into hundreds of dollars and have little if any return on your money. As for assembling crafts or other items from home, it is the same story with a different twist. Some of these are exactly like envelope stuffing schemes. Some actually are just after your initial investment for the cost of the starter box. They tell you that you will be paid a certain amount per item assembled. However if you read closely, it will also say that they will only pay for items that are assembled to their standards. People spend hours assembling items only to find that their items do not meet the standards and therefore, they will not be paid. Any real company that requires mass production of mailers or assembly items would use a distribution center or mass advertising venue or, for item assembling, a manufacturer. Sending boxes out to random people to assembly items or stuff envelopes would not meet a need for efficient production and distribution. There is no lack of this type of production facility in any city that would require a demand for people to do that type of work from home. Why would they send real production needs out to random people when they can have it done at a guaranteed time and price and distributed all in one place? Always read the fine print when you see this type of ad. According to the US Postal Service as stated in The Better Business Bureaus publication “Work At Home Schemes”, “The Inspection Service knows of no work-at-home promotion that ever produces income as alleged.” There are real ways to make money working from home but this isn’t one of them.
