Content Analysis

Content analysis is an investigation tool for doing the systematic assessment of the content with the purpose of finding the importance of the communication.

Uses of Content Analysis ---
  • In communication content, it divulges an international difference.
  • Perceive the existence of propaganda (spreading of rumor or information like a wild-fire with some intention behind it).
  • Make out the purpose, focal point and communication trends of an individual, group or institution.
  • Express attitudinal and behavioral answer to the communications.
  • Find out the psychological state of a person or a group.
  • As a commanding tool, it settles conclusively for the authorship.
  • It is helpful in examining the tendency and the outline in a document.
  • It gives a practical base for examining the shifts in a public opinion.
  • Content analysis is above a word-frequency count, even though such counts might be a constructive starting point.
  • Because of its reliance on the coding and on the categorizing data, Content analysis is generally well-heeled.
  • When doing the audience research, there develop a proficiency to make links between causes and effects.
  • For a media organization, the main function of content analysis is to assess and enhance its agenda.

On a range of levels, the text is coded or broken down into the convenient groups for the purpose of performing the content analysis on a text. After that, it is examined to use one of the content analysis' basic methods-- conceptual analysis or relational analysis.

Conceptual analysis shows the rate of recurrence of the concepts, mostly personified by words of phrases in a text. For example, with the conceptual analysis you can find out how repeatedly words such as “anger,” “outrage,” or “resentful” surface in a poems.

Whereas, relational analysis scrutinize the relations among the concepts in a text. This is to say that you can make out what other words or phrases can be emerged next to it and then decide what different meanings become manifest.

Analysis essay is a type of written document which aims to further acquire details about the hidden agenda within the topic of interest. In many fields of writing, you may notice that almost all types of subject matters are involved in a specific flow of studying whatever the condition of the presentation is. Of course, analyzing a particular topic would mean extensive researching apart from the natural ay of identifying hidden messages within the written article. It is very important for the analyzer or the writer to further breakdown the topic into sub directories of interests to help him gain additional insights about the topic of interest.

There are different subjects that can be written in an explorative article. In the field of science, you may employ the use of your experimental curiosity to help you understand such a written document is being presented that way. In a lighter aspect, writing a science project may simply become an easy task since resources to support data facts are always available. However, the more intriguing part is how you can employ your natural researching skills to analyze the data since factual claims have already been signified.

On the part of the non-technical approach in writing articles, you may experience doing an explorative approach in the field of the arts. In writing topics that involve a non tangible aspect of life, you may notice that you only need your imagination to start doing your exploration for the hidden messages and details. For example, if you want to write about an article about the paintings of Picasso, then most probably you will only be able to integrate your personal opinions within your papers. But because of the natural tendency to analyze the parameters of quality in the paintings, you will then be able to write the different interpretation why the paintings were done in such a way.

Another segment in writing an investigative article is the portal of personal opinion. On a journalist’s perspective, this type of article may well become an editorial since personal philosophy will be imbedded within the document. Just like what you have seen in newspaper articles and columns, personal opinions are somehow reflected in articles. Depending on the topic, the writer’s experiences and outlook about it will become the very foundation in analyzing the subject matter. This is also the same with an explorative essay in school. You will need to provide your thoughts within the documents which will then serve as your basis in analyzing the topic.

An analysis essay can become a primary tool to help your instructor evaluate you how you have researched facts and details about a topic. Because of the natural tendency to explore for more data and info, you can increase the quality of your talents without further involving yourself in training. What you only need to do is to get some online resources to serve as your references. When you already have the topic of interest, the format and the significant number of data references then you can start writing your investigative essay with a high tone of credibility. SWOT ANALYSIS FOR STUDENTS

BY M.SRINIVASA RAO

In corporate language, SWOT analysis is defined as the rational and overall evaluation of a company’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that are likely to affect the strategic choices significantly. Albert S Humphrey was the father of SWOT analysis.

Every organization, or an individual or a country can go for this analysis periodically so as to meet its objectives and goals. Corporate planner or a strategist is involved in organization to conduct this analysis more effectively and efficiently. The person must be highly competent, motivated with a positive bent of mind without any prejudices or biases. He must be in a position to work harder under stress and strain and in a mature and cool manner so as to bring out the best results from this analysis.

As the term implies, strength means the positive side of a picture, weakness means inability to possess specific trait or quality. A threat is a challenge posed due to unfavorable trend or development till a defensive mechanism is created. An opportunity means the availability of various positive options for growth. Both strengths and weaknesses fall in internal environment and opportunities and threats fall in external environment. It is relatively easy to predict the internal environment while it is difficult to anticipate external environment. Visionaries always identify opportunities from threats as the saying goes ‘An optimist looks for opportunity in the difficulties while a pessimist sees difficulty in the opportunities’. For instance, late Dhirubhai H Ambani was a great visionary as he converted weaknesses into strengths and intelligently identified opportunities from threats in the era of controlled economy and built the Reliance Empire within a span of three decades.

SWOT Analysis of a Small Scale Industry:

Let us take the case of Baba Indian Water Industries (BIWI) a low profile company run by CEO, Mr.Sura Hara Prasad which is located at Nemli in the district of Nizamabad of Andhra Pradesh dealing with the manufacturing and marketing of cleaning liquids. The company is manufacturing and marketing the products which are divided into four segments: Firstly, Domestic cleaning liquids like NOBAC, LOOCID and SURFEX, Secondly, Industrial cleaning liquids like DAZLEAN and GEMLIQ, Thirdly Medical related liquids like HYPODIN and ANTI-B and Fourthly, Lab and automobile related liquids like LABCEE and ABCOOL. All the products are well entrenched in the market and are in great demand.

The strength of this company is its strong presence in many districts of Telangana region in AP with strong marketing network created by way of good relations, strong financial background and highly motivated and dedicated workforce.

The weakness is that, it is not able to expand further to other regions of AP due to technical problems.

The opportunities are that, this particular segment has wider scope, as consumers are conscious of health and hygiene factors due to growing literacy and affordability due to raising disposable income levels. The company can gradually look at exports as an alternative option as its products are highly qualitative. The company is also aggressively manufacturing new brands and variants such as GEMLIQ, which is meant for cleaning of glass and plastic surfaces.

The threats are that, being a SSI it is finding a great difficulty in standing up against stiff competition from big brands in this segment. And being a fast growing company, the unknown companies can go for duplicity of these products and bring disrepute.

SWOT Analysis of an Engg. Student:

Let us look at the SWOT analysis of a fresh Engg. Graduate. The qualification itself becomes a great strength. Achievement in the academic career from primary level can be listed chronologically and also any extra curricular actives like NCC, NSS, and sports. If any prizes won in any college events either at the regional level or at the national level can be stated. Knowledge of any foreign language can be considered as a plus point because if the prospective employer has an office in that specific country, the candidate can be posted there for better communication and for better results. Publication of national conference paper on a specific subject can come in handy. If the candidate worked on part time and gained experience while being simultaneously involved in academic level will prove to be highly beneficial and the organizations expect experience in many cases. And if any part time courses or training, if the person had undergone along with his regular degree, it can also become a great asset.

When listing out the weaknesses, the candidate has to be tactful and also to be honest as incorrect evaluation will prove to be counter productive. Since the graduate has passed out freshly, lack of experience is a major weakness. Now days, majority of the candidates do not posses soft skills despite being strong at hard skills. A few people may not like to go on posting to specific places and it can become a major weakness. The candidate must list out honestly if any weaknesses in his academic career. Or else, the organizations are intelligent enough to find out the weaknesses thus resulting in termination of employment.

Now days, the opportunities are plenty due to fast growing Indian economy. Many multinational companies are setting up offices and manufacturing units in India thus generating employment opportunities. Besides India is very strong at Information Technology and leading in many other sectors. An average graduate can get employment very easily if he slogs hard. Companies are offering many facilities apart from regular pay and perks. The candidates even after getting placement can go for higher qualifications, courses and find ample opportunities all around and can improve financially, mentally and intellectually. Job fairs are conducted frequently in various locations in India with walk-in-interviews with their resumes and get placements instantly. The candidates who are replete with stuff and stamina need not to fear for placement and, on the other hand, get many options to pursue career of his taste and temperament. They must note that getting placement is only a comma not a full stop because they must acquire many more qualifications, skills, abilities and experience till their end and that must become their full stop.

At times, it so happens, the candidates may not get right placement and it is worthwhile to pursue a less profile career so as to gain experience, which may serve as a launching pad for better prospects elsewhere in their next move.

This is the age of perform or perish. One, who does not perform well or does not get adjusted well, will be served with pink slips and that becomes a major threat. If the candidate joined in the organization, as proper openings were not available and if that company is not doing well, then sticking on to it can become a threat. It may also happen that the company may not find the right person for the right slot and if it subsequently finds a better and more suitable person, and then also there is a possibility of the existing staff being fired.

Likewise candidates must resort to honest evaluation of their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats vis-à-vis their career and must proceed with confidence and optimism. Lot of homework needs to be done before applying for post; otherwise, it will be like a round peg in a square hole or like a square peg in a round hole.

To conclude, one must reinforce ones strengths, overcome ones weaknesses, manage ones threats effectively and must explore the available opportunities up to the hilt assuming that once the opportunity is lost, it is lost forever.

Sentence Analysis

The tasks of language translate or processors are primarily not generation but the recognition of sentences and sentence structure. This implies that the generating steps which lead to a sentence must be reconstructed upon reading the sentence and that to a sentence must be retraced. This is generally a very complicated and sometimes even impossible task.

Its complexity intimately depends on the kind of production rules used to define the language. It is the task of theory of syntax analysis to develop recognizing algorithms for languages with rather complicated structural rules. Here, however, our goal is to outline a method for constructing recognizers that are sufficiently simple and efficient to serve in practice.

This implies nothing less than that the computational effort to analyze a sentence must be a linear function of the length of the sentence; in the very worst case the dependency function may be n.log n, where n is the sentence length. Clearly, we cannot be bothered with the problem of finding a recognition algorithm for any given language, but we will work pragmatically in the reverse direction: define an efficient algorithm and then determine the class of languages that can be treated by it.

A first consequence of the basic efficiency requirement is that the choice of every analysis step must depend only on the present state of computation and on a single next symbol being read. Another most important requirement is that no step will have to be revoked later on. These two requirement s are commonly known under the technical term one-symbol look ahead without backtracking.

The basic method to be explained here is called top -down parsing because it consists of trying to reconstruct the generating steps (which in general form a structural tree) from their start symbol to the final sentence, from the top down. Let us start by revisiting Example 1. We are given the sentence, Dogs eat,and we must determine whether or not it belongs to the language.

Quick Note: Taking the Nonsense out of looking for the right spyware remover

If you really want to take the work out of looking for that right Spyware Protection from a Spybot go to the Internet and get a Free Spybot or a Free Spybot Search and Destroy
Download, In order to prevent your vital information from being ripped from your computer get your Spybot Remover Today.

This, by definition, is only the case if it can be generated from the start symbol . From the grammatical rules it is evident that it can only be a sentence if it is a subject followed by a predicate. We now divide the remaining task; first, we determine whether or not some initial part of the sentence may be generated from the symbol . This is indeed so since dogs can be directly generated .The symbol dogs is checked off in the input sentence.

Sentimental Analysis

Dear Fellow Investor.

The investing crowd is often wrong when it comes to key trend turning points i.e.whether an up or downtrend of the market is about to change. If this is the case, one would want to measure the crowd’s expectation at potential turning points to identify extreme bullish or bearish markets.

Sentimental analysis does just that. It measures the emotions of the investing crowd in an attempt to identify extreme bullish or bearish indications. Once an extreme level has been identified, a trader can use this information from a contrarian viewpoint either to confirm other trading indicators or as a stand alone indicator.

If an extreme bearish sentiment exists, a contrarian would interpret this as a bullish indicator. If an extreme bullish sentiment exists, a contrarian would interpret this as a bearish indicator. While an extreme sentimental reading can be used as a stand alone indicator to identify possible counter-trend moves, it should only be used as a supplemental indicator for confirmation.

The following example will demonstrate how sentimental indicators can help confirm other trading indicators. Suppose a stock has had a nice run up and is now approaching a significant resistance level, the stock is upgraded by one of the major brokerage firms, and gaps up near the resistance level on heavier than usual volume. Because the stock has been upgraded, the crowd is now going to feel very optimistic and bullish about the stock, which is why it gapped up on heavier volume.

This happens all the time. Each time a brokerage company upgrades a stock for whatever reason, you can see the stock going up even if it’s just for this one day.

The reality is that this final gasp of buying has now most likely committed the last remaining sideline money to the stock and there is nothing left to propel the stock even higher. The over-optimistic public at a major resistance level is an excellent contrarian indicator to confirm the original trading signal.

In addition to extreme sentiment which can be easy to spot, one also needs to know that complacency in the market and media also give a contrarian signal that investors’ expectations are still too high despite the low price, and that a weak stock, sector or market has still not found a bottom. At a true bottom, investor fear should have reached an extreme level as the crowd finally becomes convinced there’s still more desaster ahead.

Yours in Successful Trading

Internal Analysis

Jeff Stats Business/Business 2007-09-27

The entire business world today has become more flexile in terms of operations and communication with in both business-to-business atmosphere and in customer relations. The major influence that caused these changes came from technological breakthroughs, more of which are emerging every year. For the Intel corporation which is the manufacturer of microprocessors and an innovator of new technologies the application of modern IT approaches has solved many problems. Although Intel is a leader in the microprocessor industry it still has to reorganize its internal and external operations in order to attract and retain its customers. Moreover Intel has to make business procedures as easy as possible for the partners and in doing so the company has to use the Web to improve their current position. In order to facilitate positive changes Intel has adopted a different technological approach to its value chain operations, the analysis of which will show exactly what has helped the constructive changes to happen.

One of the basic elements of value chain is the inbound logistics which is responsible for such operations as materials control and how well does it work, type of inventory system control and its effectiveness, and warehousing of the materials. Intel has adopted a system that works through the Net and analyses the direct supply purchases, meaning all the materials and equipment the company needs to make chips and components are managed instantly. The company is currently doing about 90% of inventory supply/control in this manner however management will only be satisfied when all of the supply purchases are communicated in this way. Another innovation that has helped Intel to reduce time of processing needed information from the suppliers was the implementation of online access to confidential engineering and product-specification documents. This simplification lead to reduction of the amount of time the suppliers needed to find out what exactly the company required and how fast it should be done. This system of secure Web downloads help to cut the amount of time needed to transfer confidential documents from two to three weeks to only 30 minutes. A sufficient number of Intel suppliers also use the Net to check the inventory levels and make estimations about needed components, times of delivery and status of payments. As seen, Intel has shortened the distance between itself and suppliers to a minimum, which resulted in a more efficient manufacturing process, cost reduction and thus more value added to the final product.

Another element of value chain is the operations itself which consist of productive equipment, production control system and automation level used in production process. It is understandable that Intel has the best equipment as the company itself is the manufacturer of the parts of equipment. The RosettaNet is a new system of business process standards used in conjunction with XML forms which is a core of technology that allows Intel to build more competent links with its suppliers and customers. It is a set of standards for business processes that enables Intel which uses diverse and often conflicting systems to exchange documents and data over the Internet. thus RosettaNet is of growing importance to manufacturing companies such as Intel and its suppliers that want to do business via Net. Intel that has changed from Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) systems to RosettaNet which allowed it to improve productivity levels, combined with efficient inventory it results in overall production growth.

Outbound logistics refer to as delivery of finished products and warehousing of finished products, as well as efficiency of both of these operation. Again using the Web Intel has decreased the time inventory stays in the company s warehouses to the minimum. By putting the customer order-entry system on the Web, Intel diminishes the errors which routinely occur with paper order forms which had to be entered into a computer, by almost 75 percent. The company has increased online sales from a $1-billion-a-month to a $2-billion-a-month without hiring any additional staff. Intel just let the electronic systems to the work which turned out to be more effective than people in such arrears like telemarketing or advertising. With those electronic systems processing orders, inventory gets quickly moved out of the warehouses and quickly delivered to the customers, which in turn allow the company to focus more on R&D processes than on maintenance issues.

As was already discussed Intel s automated processing systems of inventory supply and demand and communication with customers results in a coordinated company functioning. Marketing and sales procedure is also a part of value chain process and has to be individually assessed in order for all the components to fit the general strategy of the company. This section of value chain is concerned with issues such as marketing research being effectively used to identify customer segments and needs. This question can also be answered by the new technological approaches which Intel has implemented in all spheres of its operations. They have actually improved time to market the products, and in Intel s kind of business, time to market is everything because high technologies are quickly introduced and as quickly removed from the market. Intel is introducing new chip models and generations every six months and if they are able to reduce marketing time at least to one week they will actually gain a week s worth of high-margin revenue, because their new products are sold at high prices, or "skimming prices." This minor difference speeds up company s total revenue rate and makes a big difference in the bottom line. Also due to Intel s sales system on the Web, about 26 percent of the transactions occur after normal business hours, which is a great deal of all sales made by Intel. This approach stresses customer convenience in terms of hours and fosters international trade, as there are different time zones in countries where Intel sells.

Services are the logical outcomes that follow after the purchase is completed. Most of Intel customers are corporate ones and almost 90% of them are making purchases through the Net. The direct customers in more than 60 countries can order various design specifications of their chips online in designing their end products, but also in making changes or/and suggestions about specific finished product. The speed with which customers are taken care of is the primary competence of Intel. It is related to all five major value chain factors, and it results in company s leading position on the market in the price-quality-inventory and customer service department. Automated systems enable company to quickly react to any changes in the market as well as in their external business issues.

Collateral Analysis

Sebastian foss Home Family/Parenting 2007-01-22
View Detail
Collateral or security represents the asset pledged by a borrower against the performance of a credit facility to the effect that the bank (lender) could sell it (collateral) off in the event of default. It would thus appear that collateral reduces the bank's risk when it grants a loan even as it increases the costs to the bank(lender) because of increased documentation as well as the costs of monitoring the collateral. Banks most often than not pass on the documentation costs for security perfection to the borrower.

Your one stop Source for secured loans, cheap secured loans ,cheapest secured loans ,compare secured loans ,secured lending, secured lenders can be found here http://securedloansandcollateral.blogspot.com

On the other hand, collaterals should reduce the cost of borrowing to the borrower since it reduces the bank's risk, which in turn should reduce the bank's costs and lending rates. The place of collateral or security in credit structuring and analysis remains debatable. This is because of the fact that the best collateral for any loan is the borrower's ability and willingness to repay the same according to one school of thought. Another school of thought however insists that sound banking practices require that certain type of loans should be backed by some collateral at least. This school argues that the collateral aside from providing some psychological comfort would serve as a fall back in the event that the borrower fails in meeting up with its projected cash flow for whatever reason. Experience has however shown that some less credit worthy borrowers especially within the middle market tier may not be able to raise loans without one form of collateral or the other unlike the large blue-chip companies. Thus it would appear that collateral benefits both borrowers and lenders in certain types of loans. In situations where it is expedient to insist on a collateral it would be advisable for the value of the collateral to be higher than the loan amount. This is because of the fact that by the time the loan goes bad such that the lender wants to rely on the collateral, it would then be a case of 'forced' or auction sale. Under such forced sales one can only realize a percentage of the initial value of the collateral even before deducting costs associated with the auctioning exercise.

Some types of loans collateral may be unnecessary particularly for very short-term loans that are made to large credit-worthy public companies or corporations. For example, a highly credit-worthy multi-national borrowing Ten million dollars as a bridging loan for thirty davs or less tenor to enable it pay duty and clear goods at the port may not be required to offer collateral since the facility will be fully repaid even before the arduous process of collateral documentation and perfection are completed. In practice however, some banks tend to lend unsecured loans to the multi-national blue-chip companies as long as they (multi- nationals) execute a negative pledge over their assets. Banks and other lenders are driven to lend unsecured largely by competition and secondly by their belief that such blue-chips will always meet their obligations either from own cash flow or by refinancing.

The negative pledge would ensure that all the lenders to the company are on equal footing such that in the unlikely event that the company defaults on its loan, all the lenders would share the assets of die company on a pari passu basis. It is pertinent to note that negative pledge is not a security per se. While it is advisable to insist on a befitting collateral for loans it is extremely important for the credit analyst to look on to the borrowers cash flow and the collateral for the loan repayment. The collateral should serve as a fall back comfort in the event that the primary and secondary sources of repayment fail.

Characteristics of a good collateral

The suitability or appropriateness of any item or asset for use as collateral would depend in varying degrees on the following factors relating to the asset: Standardization, durability, marketability, identification, and stability of value.

1. Standardization:

Some items especially commodities have been graded, classified or grouped e.g. cocoa beans, ginger, rice, etc to reflect their qualities or standards and hence facilitate their use in trade transactions and/or as collateral. [t would be preferable to use an item that has a standard or grade as a collateral. Aside from eliminating any ambiguity between the parties the lender appreciates the worth and re-sale ability of such asset in the event of default. It also leaves neither party in doubt as to the value of such collateral and hence the amount of loan it can collateralize

2. Durability

Durability relates to the ability of the asset to withstand wear and tear for the most part of its useful or economic life. Durable goods are better assets for use as collateral than non-durables. The useful or economic life of an asset should be longer than the tenor of the facility for which it is used as collateral. This is to ensure that the collateral will still be in useful condition and hence saleable from after the maturity of loan. Hence it can still be sold in the event that the borrower could not pay,at maturity of the loan. the craft of credit creation

3. Marketability:

This refers to the depth of the market including secondary market for the collateral and determines the ease or chances that the lender will be able to dispose of the asset in the event of default. Thus, assets that lend themselves to wide applications are better collaterals, than specialized equipment with limited use. Similarly assets that have wide secondary or tertiary markets also represent better collaterals than those with little or no secondary market at all.

4. Identification:

A collateral that can be identified by unique features or characteristics such as serial number, make, model or marks that cannot be erased are preferable to assets that have no distinguishing features. Also assets that cannot be easily moved such as real estate and machinery and equipment represent better collateral. The essence is for the lender to be able to easily identify the relevant asset that has been pledged to it as collateral even amidst several other assets. An identifiable collateral could frustrate a would-be dubious borrower from swapping another asset for the one originally pledged as a collateral for a credit facility.

5. Stability of Value:

Lenders would cherish collateral which market values are not likely to depreciate or drop significandy during the life of the loan. For example cocoa beans would not be as desirable a collateral as a building even for a short-term loan. Also banks prefer assets with ready secondary (resale) market as collateral. Assets that are highly susceptible to rapid obsolescence render older models less valuable.

Technical Analysis VS Fundamental Analysis

Shaun Rosenberg Finance/Investing 2008-04-06
View Detail
Technical Analysis VS Fundamental Analysis, which one is better. These are two different theories about how the market works and how to make money in them. Hard core Fundamentalist will tell you Technical Traders can not possible make money in the market. Hard core Technical traders will tell you Fundamental Analysis isn’t worth the effort.

So, who is right? Let us take a look at both of these theories.

We will start with fundamental analysis. This involves looking at individual companies. You must look at a company’s financial statement. You must also be aware of any news that comes from the company.

The whole theory behind this is if you find high quality companies and buy their stock it will eventually go up. After all if a company is a great company its stock should go up.

The problem with Fundamental Analysis is that it favors the large investors. Think about it, if you are investing billions of dollars in a company you can afford to spend millions to find information about that company. You can also talk directly to the CEO’s of the companies that they are thinking about investing in. This gives large investors an unfair advantage.

Technical analysis however does not give anyone an advantage. It is all about chart patterns. The more you learn about chart patterns the better an investor you will become. And because it deals with chart patterns everyone who has a computer is on an equal playing field.

Now you may think chart patterns might not be able to help you, but you would be wrong. They have helped millions make money in the market. They also make sense.

If you see a stock bounce between $45 and $60 continuously and it is at $45 you would assume that it is going to go up. Why? Because it has always bounced off of $45 in the recent past. In fact every time it gets to $45 most people consider the stock undervalued and buy it. Also where do you think the stock will most likely go? $60,right?Why? Because it always has in its recent past.

There are hundreds of chart patterns out there that have been tested numerous times by numerous people to be true.

Most technical traders do not concern themselves with a company’s fundamentals. This is because they don’t really need to. Most of their trades could only last 1 or 2 months. Remember Fundamental Analysis can find strong stocks that may eventually go up in the long term. If you are only in a trade for 1 month it may not be worth looking into.

2007 Emmy Analysis: 24

Groshan Fabiola Arts Entertainment/Arts Entertainment 2007-08-07

There’s no question about it. The recently-concluded sixth season of 24 was the worst in the history of the groundbreaking franchise. Barely halfway into it, avid fans and television critics alike were unanimous in complaining about the lackluster Day Six. The pacing seemed to drag considerably from past seasons and the episode storylines were loose and lacked cohesion. By the time the season came to a close, the ratings clearly reflected viewer sentiment, as the show received its lowest audience share since its inception. This was in glaringly stark contrast with the previous season, which posted the highest ratings in the series’ history. With the announcement of this year’s batch of primetime Emmy nominees, the final stamp of disapproval finally came as 24 was shut out of major categories save for one.

As usual and expected, 24 star and executive producer, Kiefer Sutherland, got the nod as nominee for Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series. There is little doubt that Sutherland is the face, voice, heart, mind and soul, not just of Jack Bauer, but of the entire 24 show. Sutherland has carried the program from its maiden year and has continued to give strong, solid performances ever since. Although he’s in the running again, Sutherland is not expected to make a repeat of his triumph last year, with The Sopranos’ James Gandolfini already the favorite to bring home this year’s statue.

Aside from Sutherland’s, the only other nomination for 24 was Jean Smart’s repeat inclusion as Best Guest Actress in a Drama Series. Smart gave a brief, one-episode reprisal of her role as Martha Logan from the entire fifth season. Her single episode performance was both disturbed and tragic as the unhinged, estranged wife of former President Charles Logan although, in all likelihood, she stood a better chance of winning the award last year.

Research papers provide the necessary support for claims that may have not yet fully developed, claims that would have benefited the institution which will use them. With the use of a research paper, you can adequately sustain various forms of data acquisition by doing simple referencing and analysis writing.

An analysis research paper is actually a project that involves that implementation of research concepts. Many use these types of items to signify the affirmation of a structured idea. As a possible source of information, the analysis involved in these types of projects is very much inclined in extracting results from experimental procedures. You may think of it as a tool to gather and stratify ideas for future usage. Even though a specific analysis paper promotes a single field of study, it is possible to use it as a reference for multiple other fact-finding schemes.

What advantages does a research analysis paper give?

Significantly, an analysis research paper provides you with an insight on how to do a particular experiment. You may read the methodology section and see what processes were involved in the derivation of data. With this kind of paper project, the technical aspects of producing controlled information are well presented. Based on the thesis statement and the goal of the research, the analysis section can sustain full support on the related issues abounding the problem statement. This is the direct approach to make research analysis an integral part of any study activities.

Another advantage of reading through an analysis research paper is the discovery of new concepts and ideas. Since this kind of paper provides an approach to seek for the results of a particular study, you may also identify the facts that you can apply to various other fields. For example, if a research paper provides the determination of medicine in treating cancer, other segments of the political, economic and social domains may be interested. Pharmaceutical companies may produce a commercial medicine based on the research, lawmakers may be pass orders extending other research diversions and people may generally feel more secured in terms of their health concerns.

An analysis research paper involves the rigorous process of acquiring data and analyzing them to extract information. Because of these characteristics, you may find it difficult to produce a research paper of your own. However, there are numerous resources where you can get substantial info on how to write an explorative paper effectively. This will help you attain a certain degree of confidence if your research provides practical results for your field of study.

Technical Analysis Explained

Paul Hegarty Home Family/Home Repair 2007-09-23
View Detail
Technical analysis is as the name suggests the observation of stocks using chart data in order to predict ups or downs of any given stock. Those who practice this are generally not concerned about the overall value of a company. They normally engage in short term trading with the idea of making a quick profit. The idea behind any chart data is the recognition of pattern movements. The goal is to spot these patters and make money on them when you can. As a result of efficient data collection by the stock market on events such as natural disasters, terrorist attaches, and company performance the theory is that you will be able to make good calls on any given stock.

The thing to note with this type of investing is that this is not for longer term. The goal of such investors is to watch stock patterns. The fundamentals of company growth are not taken into consideration. Therefore long term performance of a given company is not the key component. The fundamental of technical analysis is the execution of profitable investments over the short term.

Investors using this data can take advantage of stocks that are either rising or falling. They can then implement a stop loss order to reduce losses on either end. This like any other technique with an objective in mind sets out to achieve a given result through the use of data collection over time and then predict outcomes based on that same data. These investors rely on charts and analysis of such charts to make profitable trades. That is the essence of technical analysis. Why Fundamental Analysis & Technical Analysis Are The Same

Finance/Finance 2008-03-08
View Detail
For years, I have been asked this same question over and over again, “Which is better, fundamental analysis or technical analysis?”.

For decades, analysts of one camp argued about the ineffectiveness of the other and provided reasons and evidences how one method of analysis can be used at the exclusion of the other. For decades, fundamental analysts; people who dig deep into the business model and financial statements of companies, gave proof to the ineffectiveness of technical analysis. For decades too have technical analysts; people who read charts to find trends, patterns and investor behaviors, gave proof to the ineffectiveness of fundamental analysis.

Suddenly, it feels like there are 2 different worlds existing simultaneously, talking about the same stocks, same markets with views that are supposed to have nothing to do with one another. How is that possible?

If fundamental analysis is truly ineffective, why have fundamental analysis existed for so many centuries? If technical analysis is truly ineffective, why are technical analysis and chartists still paid so much money in Wall Street? If fundamental analysis is ineffective, why does earnings releases move stocks so much? If technical analysis is ineffective, why do resistance levels and support levels prove to be accurate time and time over again? What if both methods are truly one and the same thing?

Yes, fundamental analysis and technical analysis are really two sides of the same coin, two perspectives on the same issue and two components making up a full picture.

Fundamental analysis explores 2 main issues; Earnings expectation and Growth expectations. The ultimate objective of fundamental analysis is to arrive at an opinion on the future profitability of a company and how much that profitability is worth in terms of stock price. The higher the earnings expectations and growth expectations, the higher the stock price ought to be. However, scientific as this may be, it is missing the final element that moves stocks... investor sentiments or how much investors think that earnings and growth expectation is ultimately worth! Technical analysis reflects the final verdict of investors towards that earnings and growth expectation. Without this final verdict, all analysis is meaningless. However, this final verdict may not always be inline with your own expectation towards the future profitability and growth of a company. Because both fundamental analysis and technical analysis is really the same thing, a decision to buy or sell a stock should take both views into consideration. When fundamental analysis revealed a potential rise in earnings, does the charts support that view? Have investors started moving ahead of the news? Does the trend so far reveal that investors are not impressed with that outlook at all? When a reversal signal turns up in technical analysis, is there any fundamental reasons driving that reversal? Is it just nothing but an unsustainable exuberance not supported by fundamental reasons?

That being said, when a company’s fundamental outlook is continuously strong over a long period of time, technicals will also reflect that same long term strength through long term bullish trend and patterns.

In this sense, fundamental analysis and fundamental analysis are truly one and the same and nobody can do with one and not the other. It is like examining the physical attributes of a boxer versus his track record. You cannot have a complete picture of the capabilities of a boxer unless you take both views into consideration.

Because fundamental analysis and technical analysis are 2 different views on the same subject, they both have certain strengths over each other.

Fundamental analysis is capable of telling if a company has long term growth potential and whether or not its stocks are worth while long term investments. However, fundamental analysis is incapable of predicting or explaining short term trends of a few days that are not caused by fundamental company events like earnings release. Technical analysis on the other hand is capable of telling when prices are out of sorts and when prices shouldn’t rise or fall anymore using support and resistance levels. Such knowledge is extremely useful in trading short term trends. However, technical analysis has proved to be ineffective at predicting long term price actions as business fundamentals does change significantly from year to year.

I hope I have resolved the feud between fundamental and technical analysis today and that you have understood that both are really the same thing, talking about the same thing while providing a slightly different perspective. I hope you will embrace both methods from now on and use the right bias on the right investment horizon and outlook. I personally use both analysis in my stock options trading and I would turn the bias towards technical analysis in my short term trading system, the Star Trading System.

Stock Market Analysis

Basic Stock Trading Analysis

Analysis is one of the most important aspects of stock market trading, and experienced stock market investors spend hours each day analyzing stock market trends before making a decision. In fact, it is important for any stock market investor to know the trends and stock market options that are available. If you are planning on carrying out some market research, here are a few tips to help you carry out effective research:
1. Business news websites
News websites have a panel of stock market experts that are constantly monitoring the stock markets. One of the simplest ways of getting unbiased stock market advice is visiting news websites and reading through their market analysis page. News websites update their market analysis on a daily basis and also have a ‘stocks to look out for’ section that can help newbie stock market investors to keep close tabs on future stock market options. Another popular feature most business and stock market expert websites have is a chart based analysis system that displays the ‘movement’ of stocks over a period of time.
2. Business newspapers
Although the internet is one of the leading resources for stock market analysis, business newspapers like the Business World are still the preferred source of information when it comes to the stock market. Not all information from a newspaper is available online, and a business newspaper is still one of the easiest ways to get insider news and expert advice on the stock market. In fact, any stock market expert will recommend subscribing to a business weekly for a more in depth look at the stock market.
3. Stock market software
Stock market software is essentially an artificial intelligence program that carries out a thorough comparison of various stocks to reveal a suitable candidate for purchase. Stock market software updates itself on a daily or hourly basis (depending on an individual’s requirements) and also carries out a detailed analysis of each stock market option. In addition, stock market software also produces various statistical data like average trading price, lowest closing, highest closing and other details that can help a stock market investor make an informed decision.
There is software that will chart price movements in various time increments – from a few to several minutes, hours, or even days. It is from these charts that you would be in the best position to find trade setups, trade reversals, trends, gaps, momentums, and so many other insights necessary for successful trading.
It is important to remember that stock market software is essentially a tool and should not be the sole basis of any buy/sell decision. Stock market software is available from a variety of software firms and large stock market organizations usually have their own stock market software.
It is vital to understand that the stock market is influenced by various political and economical factors, and research is a vital part of any stock market decision. What is also true is that the stock market is all about making informed decisions and taking calculated risks. In fact, the reason why people all over the world are turning to research before making any stock market investment is because the stock market can essentially be deciphered by an analytic mind willing to take calculated risks from time to time.

Understanding Technical Analysis

Adam J. Heist Finance/Finance 2007-06-20
View Detail
Stocks need to be understood before making any major moves. This can be accomplished by a few methods known as analyses. Technical analysis is one of the most useful methods to understand the trends of the stock market. Technical analysis is a method in which the stock chart data is examined and the future moves in the market are predicted on their basis. Investors using technical analysis are not bothered about the kind of companies they are dealing in. These investors are playing for short-term. They will sell their stock as soon as they reach the limits of their projected profit.

Experts who study technical analysis presume that the stocks will move in certain predictable patterns. These would take into account natural disasters that could drastically affect the stock market. These experts consider both geographical and historical information to decide in what manner the stock market would move in the future. Technical analysis depends on such external factors, but it does not study the potential of the company itself whose stock is being considered.

For this reason, investors who rely on technical analysis do not play for the long-term. They are not interest in the growth potential of a particular company, because they will likely be gone from the market by then. The whole premise is based on the movement of the market as a whole, and the entry and exit points will be charted on the base of such market fluctuations.

It is possible for investors to benefit from upswings as well as downswings in the market by playing for either the long-term or the short-term. Orders such as stop loss and limit can be used to make the investments safe.

The modern technical analyst has several tools available at his/her disposal. Since the stock market has been playing for several centuries now, many stock patterns have developed. The basic concepts are still the support and resistance, which are applied to the lowest limit a downswing price can go to and the highest limit an upswing price can go to, respectively. Support and resistance are the limits from which the prices will bounce back, once they reach that level.

Charts are a very important tool used by the technical analyst. The most popular charts are the bar charts, which contain vertical bars representing the stock prices over a particular time period. The bar chart will show the highest and the lowest prices at both ends of the bar. If the bar is long, it means a larger price spread, while if the bar is short, then it means a smaller price spread. The position of the side bars would indicate whether the price increased or decreased and also the spread between the opening and closing prices.

Another popular kind of chart is the candlestick chart. Here solid bars (known as candles) are used to show the variations between the closing prices and the opening prices. Shadows are used from the candles to indicate the highest and lowest prices respectively. Color coding is used in this method. A black or red candlestick would indicate that the closing price was lower than the previous period, while a white or green candlestick would indicate the price closed higher. Apart from the color coding, shapes can also be used to indicate several things. A green candlestick with short shadows would mean a bullish market, while a red candlestick with short shadows is a bearish market. The candlestick pattern is a very sophisticated type of pattern, with about twenty different kinds of shaped in use.

Training Needs Analysis

John Fowler Business/Management 2007-02-27
View Detail

It is amazing how many companies dive straight into a training program without ever understanding the real training needs. These same companies certainly wouldn't start a new business venture without fully understanding the issues, how to get from where they are today to where they want to go and the costs and risks in doing that.

Training Needs Analysis (TNA) can made to sound very complex with lots of L&D speak, but fundamentally it is a simple process to qualify why you need to do the training, what business benefits are expected, and what the costs and ROI will be of the program. We would suggest a process that covers the following areas:

* Business Needs for the training - what is the business reason for the training.

* Gap analysis - what do we want to have after the training that we don't have now. What competencies and behaviours can we change to close the gap. See Competency Based Training.

* Sales team assessment - analysis of their current skills, knowledge, competencies and behaviours. See Sales Force Assessment.

* Check point - can training really fix these issues or are there other business or organizational issues to fix.

* Agree training outcomes - What are the objectives and outcomes of the training. How will we measure success. See Measuring Sales Training Success.

* Choose the appropriate delivery method(s) - develop outline training plan by module and cost the training. This may include in-house and external training companies. See Training Design.

* Budget approval/Sign off - report back to the business and get approval to go ahead.

The scale and complexity of each step varies depending on the size of the change expected and associated costs. But we believe even in the most straight forward cases, a small amount of time spent doing this sort of due diligence is time very well spent.
