Throughout your education you will find an increasing need to consult reference material to help you further your studies. There are five main reference sources that you should be familiar with. Although these 5 will in no way be even close to the only reference material you'll need, they will be a good starting point for any project as they will help you define what's needed and point you in the kind of direction to find more information on the subject.

Dictionary
This is usually a great place to start when faced with an assignment. First of all to ensure that you understand what is being asked in the question, and then to find out what any words you aren't familiar with mean. Lack of understanding of a word could mean the difference between a pass and fail so make good use of a dictionary before starting your assignment. There are even dictionaries that are specialized in certain subjects such as music, medicine, technical terms, etc. These can be invaluable if you are studying at a higher level and your course contains terms not commonly found in a normal dictionary.

Thesaurus
When you are writing up your assignment a thesaurus can be an invaluable resource. This contains synonyms for words; that is words that mean the same as a word you know. By using a more extensive vocabulary you will improve your chances of getting a better grade, but make sure that you remember the words you use and know what they mean in case you are later quizzed by your teacher. If you can't find a synonym for a word, check in a dictionary that you are spelling the word correctly!

Encyclopedia
This resource gives you brief articles about almost anything you can think of if it's a comprehensive version. You need to find the most up-to-date one you can as they quickly go out of date as current event and technology changes. If you know what you're looking for you may find that a more specialized encyclopedia gives you a great information source, but if you're not too sure where to start with your project, a general encyclopedia will help point you in the right direction to other more in-depth resources.

Almanac
Produced on an annual basis, an almanac will give you facts on many different subject areas. Whether you're looking for information on a particular event, country or even person you should find a good starting point in an almanac. As with an encyclopedia however you need to ensure you have the most up-to-date version available.

Atlas
A reference source in map form, if you need to know where a country is, what its terrain is like, what its boundaries are, the kind of government it has and even things such as its usual weather conditions, you'll find this information in an atlas. As with the other reference sources mentioned, atlases can be specialized to deal with things such as history and you need to look at the most current atlas available to you.

Most of these resources are available in different formats so you aren't restricted to books. Computer versions and the Internet provide digital formats for those who prefer to use technology in their research.

If you are in the course of action of buying a house for yourself you perhaps will have become aware of that there are lots additional to the procedure than meets the gaze at. If you have not yet moved out from beginning to end the house trade procedure, you possibly will have no genuine idea of all the ladder and motion that are implicated in the process. Not only at present a huge procedure concerned, there are as well a lot of slight steps that can help possessions work out a great deal more easily for such a thing you need a reference guide with the right guidance.

In the current age while the companies needs to discharge lots of works in very less time they are in the constant pressure in order to plan everything at their conclusion? They can t run following the one thing or else the other if they desire to understand their goal. Therefore they require the ready at hand written resources in order to provide their customers or else intended parties.

The Technical Documents consist of various sorts for the different reasons like:

The User Guides and the Manuals

User Guides are middle to explaining how to make use of the products correctly as well as how their utilization would be obliging. These manuals are also intended for external customers as well as for the internal use. Such kind of manuals can be in the hard copy shapes however now they are mainly hosted on to their site itself and on the internal intranet for simple availability to all the concerned persons. A number of the well-liked manual guides are The Quick Reference Guides, Software Reference Guides, Software User Guides, Hardware User Guides, Reference & Repair Guides, Hardware Installation, as well as Hardware and Software Comb Guide

The Administrative Materials

It refers to the documents, which are used by employees as well as customers of the organization. They normally deal with the policies, events as well as their benefits. They might also have the warning adjacent to violation of the rules. A few of ordinary administrative materials are.

The organization Manuals, Annual Reports, Training Materials

The Publication Materials

Companies might require the launching articles or else proficiency materials in the magazines, newspapers, the journals, newsletters etc. Such kind of the materials are also targeted in order to deal with system, style or else the other present information regarding the association, skill, industry or else the certain field. They can also be released for internal or else the eternal audiences for the general and the specific purpose. A few of the ordinary publication resources are the Magazine and the Trade Journal Articles, Technical Reports, Newsletters, Speeches

Marketing Material

The Marketing materials explain about all their products, their services as well as their benefits. These kinds of materials have to be technical as well as targeted at two significant things:

I. The clientele get all the information on what company is offering clearly.

II. Document promotes sale of different products of company.

Marketing materials are also developed in the hard copies, the CDs, newsletter forms as well as are launched on website of company as well.

EDI Reference

EDI Reference
EDI stand for Electronic Data Interchange, and is being used for over 30 years in different industries al over the world. When EDI first started there was not internet and communication between computer devices was limited mainly to phone line. Companies from the Food Industries began using EDI due to the time and man power saving, and also in order to reduce errors that human usually makes when they create data. EDI is made of files and is basically a way to transfer files in a structures format agreed on by some standards (X12, EDIFACT) between different companies.

Each file has a file format/structure and that format called document or Transaction Set , and the whole goal of these file formats is that the receiver will know how to read the file when he gets it. There are many document types. The most popular EDI documents for X12 are:

* 850 which is a Purchase Order
* 810 which is an Invoice
* 997 Acknowledgment.

In order for a company to send Purchase order to the Supplier/Vendor, both companies, sometimes called Trading Partner need to setup their EDI System to recognize the sender. Each sender is begin recognize by a unique ID that the company and it Trading Partner agree on, for example DUNS Number, and then they can start sending EDI documents to each other. The way it work is that the sender/buyer will send an EDI 850 document to the supplier. After the supplier receive the document purchase order, the supplier EDI automatically send back to the sender an 997 Acknowledgment document so the sender will know that his order was received successfully. After the supplier fill in the order he send another EDI document, but this time this is an EDI 810 documents which is an Invoice. When the Sender/Buyer receive the Invoice his EDI system send automatically an Acknowledgment using the EDI 997 document that they got the Invoice Successfully. Since today this all done electronically without any human intervention, the Purchase Order and the Invoice are less likely to have errors. Some companies today, connect their EDI system to their ERP system, so every Purchase order that they get, immediately goes into the ERP system, Accounting system, update the warehouse items future inventory, something that may eliminate double orders by mistakes, and eliminate loosing the paper purchase order and Invoice.

There are also different EDI standards. EDI standards are basically different file format for the same document regulated by different organization. Today the most used standard is X12 and is being used all over the world especially in the U.S. and Canada. In addition there is the EDIFACT that is just like the X12 but has its own file format for the same type of documents (i.e. Purchase Order and Invoice) but is mostly used in Europe. The most popular EDI documents for EDIFACT are:

* ORDERS
* INVOIC (this is not a mistake, its really spelled without an 'E' at the end!)

Hopefully one day they will be united into one standard that is accepted all over the world. Every Year there is new EDI version that comes out and published by the parent organization which is ASC X12 and usually there are minor changes to existing documents and sometimes new documents, so if your going to pick an EDI solution, make sure that comply with all the previous version or at least all the version that you use + all the versions that your trading partner uses. Because most changes are minor, even if you use older version, your EDI software should be able to process the documents it was configured initially to process, but in some cases you might get error messages about invalid file format or invalid segment or invalid element. EDI X12 file structure is made of four levels:

1. ISA - Interchange Segment
2. GS - Group Segment
3. ST - Segment Transaction
4. Transaction Segments for specific ST

So what we got here is a tree view that look like this:
ISA
GS
ST
G50
G72
SE
GE
ISE
ST has multiple segments
GS may have one or more Transactions
ISA may have one or more Group segments
ISA, IEA GS, GE ST and SE are being called Control Segments where all the segments inside the ST being called Data Segments.

A closer look at one of the Data Segments:
BIG*040713*1001*040625*P89320~
Each part between the asterisk sign called Element and the asterisk separates the elements from each other. In other cases, there could be a different character that separates the Element from each other. The same goes for the ~ which is the Segment Terminator.
The ~ sign tells the EDI system when the segment ends.
The first tokens, BIG, tells the EDI what this segments is all about, in this case BIG tell the system that this is 'Beginning Segment Invoice'
The second token, 040713, is the Invoice date formatted as YYMMDD, which is Year Month and Day, so in this case the Invoice Date would be July 13 2004
The third token 1001, is the Invoice Number.
The fourth element 040625, the date assigned by the purchaser to purchase order.
The fifth element P89320, Purchase Order Number for that Invoice.
The BIG data segment has more elements, but not all of them must be used. The ASC X12 define specifically which element are mandatory and which are optional.

NTP Server Reference Clocks

David Evans Computer/Computer 2007-05-11

NTP is a standard Internet protocol for distributing accurate time to network time clients. There are a large number of public NTP time servers available on the Internet. However, it may often be the case, for security purposes, that an organisation may require an internal stratum 1 NTP time server. This article discusses a number of time sources that can be used as a reference clock for a stratum 1 time server.

Probably the most widely used NTP reference clock resource is currently the Global Positioning System (GPS). The GPS system consists of a number of orbiting satellites providing accurate positioning and location information. However, each GPS satellite also has an integral highly accurate atomic clock that can be used as a timing reference. Utilising the GPS system for time synchronisation has a number of advantages. GPS can provide a highly accurate source of time using a relatively low-cost antenna and receiver. A typical GPS receiver can provide timing information to within a few nanoseconds of UTC. Additionally, the GPS signal can be received anywhere in the world, where the antenna can be provided with a good view of the sky. The disadvantage of using the GPS system is the very fact that the antenna requires a view of the sky. Often sitting an antenna on a rooftop with a good view of the sky can be impractical and expensive.

There are also a number of national time and frequency radio transmissions that can be used to synchronise a stratum 1 NTP server. The advantage of using a radio time reference is that generally a good signal can be obtained indoors close to the host computer. This can considerably reduce system installation costs. However, radio time references are generally less accurate than GPS systems. Typically, national time and frequency transmissions are accurate to 1 - 20 milliseconds. The radio transmission is regional and has a finite range dependant on transmitter power. Additionally, local interference or environmental issues can cause problems with reception. Placing a radio antenna too close to electrically noisy equipment can result in signal loss. Also, locating an antenna inside a metal enclosure or underground in a basement can also be a problem.

A number of national time and frequency standards are available broadcasting to the local region.

The WWVB time and frequency signal is a 60kHz radio broadcast transmitted from Fort Collins, Colorado, USA. The WWVB signal continuously transmits time and frequency signals throughout the US and much of Northern America. The signal provides UTC time to an accuracy of 100 microseconds.

The DCF-77 time and frequency signal is transmitted from Frankfurt, Germany. DCF-77 broadcasts timing information continously at 77.5kHz. The transmission covers Germany and much of Central and North Western Europe. Time and frequency information is broadcast to an accuracy of <20msec.

The MSF radio time and frequency broadcast is transmitted at 60kHz from Anthorn, Cumbria, UK. The broadcast covers the British Isles and much of North Western Europe. Time and frequency information is broadcast to an accuracy of <1msec.

The TDF time and frequency radio broadcast is transmitted from Allouis, France. It continuously broadcasts time and frequency information at 162kHz. The transmitter has a power output of 2000kW, with coverage of France and much of Central and Western Europe.

The JJY long-wave time and frequency broadcast is transmitted from Tokyo, Japan. The broadcast is continuously transmitted at 60kHz and covers much of Japan and Far Eastern Asia.

To conclude, there are many sources of time and frequency reference broadcasts available. When choosing a reference to utilise for a stratum 1 NTP server, regional availability must be taken into account along with ease of installation and required accuracy.

POVERTY WITH REFERENCE TO PAKISTAN

Shamveel Tousif News Society/Current Affairs 2008-03-07
View Detail
“POVERTY WITH REFERENCE TO PAKISTAN” BRIEF REVIEW Qazi Shamveel Bin Tousif Student BBA (Hons) 1st Year

POVERTY AND ITS IMPACT ON THE POPULATION OF PAKISTAN DISCUSSION HAS BEEN BASED ON SECONDARY DATA AND IT IS AN EVIDENCE THAT POVERTY IN PAKISTAN IS WIDELY AND EVENLY DISTRIBUTED AND MUCH LARGER PORTION OF POPULATION, ABOUT 33% IS CONSIDERED VULNERABLE AND LIKELY TO SINK IN POVERTY.

POVERTY has always, had several not entirely separable meanings and is always defined according to conventions of the society in which it occurs. We may distinguish two meanings: (1)Social poverty (2) Moral poverty

Social poverty implies not merely economic inequality (of property, income, living standard, etc) but also inequality, that is, a relation of inferiority, dependence, or exploitation. Pauperism describes a category of people unable to maintain themselves at all, or to maintain themselves at the level conventionally regarded as minimal, without outside assistance.

Moral poverty Defines the place of poverty in the value system of a society or of its subgroups and institutions: that is, it defines whether poverty is morally acceptable and what status it confers or prevents the poor man from enjoying. In his book ‘Development as freedom’, Nobel Laureate AMARTYA SEN (2003) argues that development consists of the removal of un-freedom; In other words POVERTY IS UN-FREEDOM. The social category of the poor arises in stratified societies in which the upper and lower strata have direct experience of each other. The poor are normally contrasted with the rich: and a causal relationship is often assumed, as in the German Proverbs “Poverty is the rich man’s cow” and “Poverty is the hand and foot of wealth If worker – consumers are incapable of effective resistance, either politically through the exercise of meaningful suffrage or economically through strong labor unions, the sheer pace of industrialization is bound to produce widespread poverty. POVERTY IN PAKISTAN is a major economic issue. Nearly one-quarter of the population is classified poor as of October 2006. The declining trend on poverty in the country seen during the 1970s and 1980s was reversed in the 1990s by poor Federal policies and rampant corruption.1 The government of Pakistan has prepared an "Interim Poverty reduction Strategy Paper" that suggest guidelines to reduce poverty in the country. According to the World Bank, the program has tangible success, with the World Bank stating that poverty has fallen by 5 percent since 20002. Incidences of poverty in Pakistan rose from 22–26% in the Fiscal Year 1991 to 32–35% in the Fiscal Year 1999. They have subsequently fallen to 25-28% according to the reports of the World Bank and UN Development Program reports. These reports contradict the claims made by the Government of Pakistan that the poverty rates are only 23.1%3. The CIA fact book places the 2006 poverty rate at 24 percent. 4. For many people in developing countries, poverty means difficulty in living, as well as lack of basic services in health and education. In Pakistan lack of access to credit, training to income generating activities, basic social services and infrastructure are the critical factors behind the persistence of substation poverty. Poverty is widely spread in Pakistan and is pre dominating the rural phenomenon. Nearly about two third of the population of Pakistan live in rural areas, in 1970’s to 1980’s the poverty rate of Pakistan fell down but again in 1990’s it rose up, According to the Government of Pakistan’s poverty reduction strategy papers, currently about 10 percent of the population is chronically poor, but a much larger portion of the population [for about 33 percent] is considered vulnerable and likely to sink in poverty. The incidence of poverty varies between rural to urban areas, and from one province to the next. In many other mountainous parts of the country where communities are small, isolated and where there are few major urban centers, poverty is widely and evenly disturbed. There is controversy between the government officials and independent economists about the statistics of poverty but both the segments are agreed that out of four Pakistani living under the poverty line THREE are women. In the last It is concluded that if a person who is living in Pakistan earns less than a dollar per day then he is in poverty net. On other hand if he has lack of facilities than it is poverty of opportunity. So we can say that more than 40% of the population of the Pakistan is living below the poverty line.

With more and more people taking up the decision to work from home, the need to be well organized has increased tremendously. Though working from home saves a lot of money and time, it demands utilizing the space effectively and reducing several distractions. Establishing a home office takes a bit of creative strategizing and in order to bring a vibrant look to your home office environment you need to define your working space, no matter if you are working in a corner of your house. Try to keep all the necessary office-related items in one place, creating an effective central spot. It helps in saving the time that usually gets wasted in looking around for things. Arranging bookshelves is considered to be the first step while organizing reference books in a home office.

No matter what your profession is, mostly all careers have specific reference books. There are dictionaries, style guides, designer catalogues, legal tomes, medical references and cookery books, depending upon the profession. Every home office professional should keep the reference books nearby in an organized manner. The idea should be to place them in such a manner that it would add to the look of your home office. You can easily arrange your reference books in a stylish manner.

Some of the innovative ideas for storing reference books in a home office are as follows:

Stand-alone bookshelf: If you have a spacious room, then you can arrange your reference books in a highly classic and stylish manner. You can use a stand-alone bookshelf, which is usually available in wood, glass or metal, with rolling wheels, solid base or collapsible design. Besides you can also opt for an old-world look stand-alone bookshelf. There are a number of websites over the Internet that can help you find a bookshelf of your choice.

Wall- mounted shelf: A long, wall-mounted bookshelf placed above the desk is considered to be one of the most preferable options for a home office. It suits the smaller spaces or when you wish to consult your reference books most of the time. This bookshelf allows you to access books without taking up any extra space on the desktop. In order to give a different look, you can use wall-mounting brackets in wood, brass or aluminum to suit your office decor.

Decorative shelves: In case you want to keep some important reference books within your reach then you can think of a decorative shelf. Invisible bookshelves are popular. They are very spacious and can hold about 20 pounds of books easily and still appear as if it is floating on the wall. You can also use other decorative stationary items such as penholder to add to the decor.

Bookends: Bookends are considered to the most elementary book storage. In case you have a large desktop and you are fond of the presence of books near your working space, then you can use bookends to enhance the style of your workstation. It is one of the simplest and cost-effective ways to incorporate style while arranging reference books. Bookends can include the utility metal as well as gilded Buddha. You can search for them in several flea markets and art stores for a variety of options. In case you like flower vases, you can buy vases or bottles and fill them with decorative stones or sand.

Baseball Fans Use Reference Points

James Brown Recreation Sports/Other sports and recreation 2007-11-25

Abaseball fan has many resources that can be used to keep up with the various statistics that are used by the Major League Baseball teams. A fan can also use the internet to access statistics that concern the minor league teams too. Whether the statistics pertain to the American League or National League, a fan is reassured of having competent data to use when they attend games throughout the year.

With over 50 years of statistics to work with, a fan has ample resources to reflect on when they decide which team they want to support for one season of baseball, or the team that a family chooses to support for a lifetime. Some statistics are so impressive that they can not be ignored by any baseball fan because these statistics contain records that have been broken and are ones that changed history.

A fan might also reflect back to reference points that allow them to see which baseball players won awards over a lifetime career. The awards could be meant for a specific baseball team, or they could reflect on the leagues performance over many years. Fans throughout the year will wildly celebrate the proper award, and some might have more reasons to celebrate because the statistics could involve players that will play in the World Series.

A player might feel more confident about the team he was traded to if they had taken the time to look at the reference points that reflect the team's hitting average or the baseball teams leadership base. If the managers have not changed for several years, then the baseball player might feel that he got the best end of the deal and will have the opportunity to play for one of the best teams in the major leagues because that team is well grounded by tried and true leadership abilities.

These stats will also give the player the opportunity to scan the baseball roster and see what their competition challenges will be amongst fellow team members. On any given week, one player might be considered better than others just because they caught a fly ball to center field, or they were able to keep a player from scoring when they slid into home plate.

As a professional baseball player plays in numerous baseball games throughout the year it is only natural that one player will want to be better than other baseball players during a game because they are concerned with how they are being viewed by their coaches, and sponsors. The baseball player that does better than the rest is often given lucrative incentives to keep them playing well all year.

These players will ultimately want to be on the top of their game so that they can be selected as the most valuable player in all baseball games. To do this, they need to know what they need to beat to be the best among their peers, and they will find out that information by using the statistical references compiled throughout the year.

Credit Reference For Mortgage Loan

Anirban Bhattacharya Finance/Finance 2008-02-20
View Detail

What if I don't have any credit references on my credit report or just a few accounts? Will I have a credit score? Will I be able to get a mortgage loan?

You can obtain a mortgage loan even if you have limited credit references or no credit at all on your credit report. It is also not a requirement for you to have a credit score in order to obtain a mortgage.

Even if you have limited credit as little as one credit reference a lender can still obtain a credit score for you. If you have little or no credit references on your credit report, the lender will work with you to develop what is called a "nontraditional" credit report that will contain information on how you manage financial obligations like rental payments, utility payments, and other items that do not normally appear on a credit report.

Will my lender tell me my score? The decision is up to the lender and they are not required to share credit scores with borrowers. The lender can tell you if a credit score was used as part of the decision to approve or deny your loan. If your loan is denied, the lender can help you understand what reasons caused the denial and what you can do to get on the path to homeownership.

How do I know if the information used to calculate my credit score is correct? How do I get a copy of my credit report?

Your credit report reflects the information reported to the credit bureaus by each of your creditors. This information changes every time something is added or deleted from your credit file. For in¬stance, paying off an existing account, opening several new accounts, or exceeding the credit limit on one of your accounts will be reflected in your credit record.

Sometimes credit reports are inaccurate. There are also situations in which the time between when you open or close an account or make a payment and when this information is updated in your credit report makes it appear your credit report is inaccurate. The best way to ensure that the information contained in your credit files is correct is to periodically request copies of your credit report. Each credit bureau keeps its own records, so you may want to request copies from all three: Trans Union, Equifax, and Experian.

Credit bureaus general¬ly charge a small fee for a credit report; however, some states now require that they give free or discounted reports. In addition, if you have been turned down for credit because of information contained in your credit report, you are entitled to receive a free copy of your report within 60 days of the denial. If you think your report contains mistakes, notify the appropriate credit bureau listed in this brochure directly to ensure that the errors are corrected in your file. They will investigate the item and remove any incorrect information. If information in your credit file changes, your lender may want to request another copy of the report and a new credit score. Keep in mind, however, that making changes to your credit report may not change your credit score.

It is recommended that you obtain and review a copy of your credit report before you begin the mortgage loan process. To obtain a copy of your credit report, contact the following credit bureaus:

Equifax: (800) 685-1111, TransUnion: (800) 916-8800, Experian: (800) 682-7654.

For additional information, you may want to visit the Equifax, Trans Union, or Experian world wide web sites:

Equifax: equifax.com,

Trans Union: tuc.com

Experian: experian.com.

If there are errors in my credit report do I have to wait for them to be corrected before applying for a mortgage?

No. If you have reviewed your credit report and found errors, you should contact the credit bureau immediately and get it to correct the information. You still can apply for a mortgage while this information is being corrected. Just explain the circumstances to the loan officer and explain that the credit bureau is correcting the information.

If you already have applied for a mortgage loan, your loan officer still can evaluate your credit report and your loan application without a credit score by reviewing the information that is correct in your credit report. However, lenders do consider consumers who establish a pattern of frequently paying their bills late to be greater credit risks than those who pay on time. As a result, lenders often are reluctant or unwilling to extend new or additional credit to these consumers. Credit scoring reflects not only this concern, but the actual experience of lenders.

National Criminal Justice Reference Service

Jeff Stats Reference Education/College 2007-02-22
View Detail

National Criminal Justice Reference Service is a very comprehensive and detailed web site. It is constructed in such a way that any person willing to get information on different types of crimes, statistics and laws information could get a direct link to the needed subject. There are many topics connected to the laws, regulations and various crime types, with lots of sub topics which provide an in depth understanding of the matter. I would like to focus more on the three themes found on this web site.

An identity theft information is provided under the In the Spotlight section, which leads to a thought that that type of crime is a common crime and people should know about it more in terms of where the danger may come from and how to protect oneself from being robbed. This section gives an overview of different categories of identity theft, there is a useful list of known tricks through which thieves try to get your money. Robbers can get information from businesses or other institutions by: stealing records from their employer, bribing an employee who has access to these records, or hacking into the organization's computers; this important information can be of vital necessity to those who never paid attention to things like that. This section also tells a reader about new “innovative” decisions in this theft industry, which are not extensively known and employed. Another significant point is the information on who does the investigation of such type of crimes and the fact that these crimes are considered as separate crime against an individual. Also it gives an overall data about the penalties for theft crimes.

The hate crime summary section presents a brief definition of the hate crime and gives a short history and statistics of this crime type. It is understood that hate crimes are not only hard to define but also difficult to investigate and to gather statistics as hate crimes are very individual in their origin and require certain precise approach. Thus the Congress has passed many pieces of legislation in order to help shape the future of hate crime initiatives and preventative measures. There is also a list of these legislative documents with links to them provided for the simplicity of access to users of the site. Hate crimes are under the investigative control of the FBI’s Bias Crimes Unit and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (BATF) church arson and explosives experts. A number of such serious agencies is a notification of how big this problem stands in American society. Agencies such as Office for Victims of Crime (OVC), the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) and the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) are all sponsor and fund grantees to develop programs, and to provide training assistance to individuals and local agencies regarding hate crimes. These links can be of great value to those who became victims of hate crimes and seek for help.

The third section being reviewed is the Women and Girls in Criminal Justice System part of the site. This segment gives an overview of how female criminal issues have become such a serious problem. It states that nowadays there is a rising number of female offenders which led to the development of gender-specific programs to address the issue. It shows that historically women were not considered violent and serious offenders, but the trend is different today and this issue needs to be closely investigated. The site provides statistics to prove that even in the last decade women have been committing more crimes, and serious crimes. It also reflects the figures of various governmental institutions declaring that imprisonment rate increased 88 percent; and the per capita number of offenders under parole supervision was up 80 percent. The page also provides the possible reasons as to why this sad statistics are true now; the reason include substance abuse, mental illness, and spousal abuse. Moreover, there is also a trend of female crimes being committed by young girls, the fact that is proved by Juvenile Justice Journal statements. As the two previous subdivisions this part also includes a lot of links to the most recent and comprehensive publications, statistics, legislation, and other facts concerning the investigated topic.

The overall usefulness of this site can be truly valued more if a detailed research of its possibilities and real potential was conducted. However, even such quick glance on the three sectors of it, was enough to understand that this is a powerful search engine for those looking for new legislative implementation, statistical notes, investigation background of various crimes, and any other relative topics.

The evident connection of the information provided on this site, can be found in any mass media channel, a great deal of it is placed in the newspapers’ pages. Taking for instance the most recent New York Times newspaper, in which the problem of thefts caused by wireless internet is introduced. The article talks about identity theft and the possible problematic issues the technological breakthrough can cause in the future and causes already. Those kinds of articles and news appear everywhere constantly and we cannot ignore them, as they are part of the world we live in. We can only protect ourselves and people around us by being properly and timely informed about such things.

Home Buying Quick Reference Guide

Randy Heslip Finance/Real Estate 2007-08-07
View Detail

If you are in the process of buying a home you may have noticed that there is a lot more to the process than meets the eye. If you have not yet gone through the home buying process, you may have no real idea of all the steps and motions that are involved in the process. Not only is there a huge process involved, there are also many subtle steps that can aid and help things work out much more smoothly.

Rather than just buying a home perhaps you should be looking to buy the right home. The right home for each and every family will be different. This is the point where you should sit down with your family and discuss exactly what it is that you are looking for in a home. How many bedrooms do you want and how many can you settle for if there is absolutely no choice in the matter? How many square feet do you want and how many can you and your family comfortably tolerate? Do you need a basement or do you just want one? What about parking? How many spaces do you absolutely need? Do you need a fenced yard? How much yard do you need?

There are so many questions and this is only about the house. What about the community? Do you want a strong community feeling such as you would find in a gated community? Do you want a community park, swimming pool? How about community activities in which you and your family could participate? Would you rather be left alone? How close do you really want your neighbors? What about the stores nearby? Do you need to live within walking distance of stores, schools, parks, and entertainment or do you prefer a little bit of a commute? How about the schools? Will they serve the needs of your children while providing an outstanding education? These questions may seem like too much but they go a long way in helping you find the best possible house for you and your family.

Then there are the questions about the condition of the house you are considering. Are there minor or major repairs that need to be made to the home? Are you willing to make the necessary repairs? How much will they cost and can you negotiate a better price as a result? Will you be able to do the work yourself or will you need to hire professionals? How about legality? Are the repairs needed repairs that you can make on your own or will you need a licensed contractor to do the work? Are the repairs merely cosmetic? Most importantly can you live in the house while the repairs are being made or until the repairs can be made?

Asking these questions, debating the answers and reaching a compromise that everyone can agree on is part and parcel of the home buying process. Perhaps the biggest secret to buying a home is compromise. Buying a home is a lesson in compromise for all parties involved. Remember if you already have children this may require them leaving their friends and beginning again in a brand new school. Giving them a voice in the process can help ease the pains of leaving behinds friends and those things that they find familiar. Most importantly, by learning to compromise it is quite likely that everyone in the family will find something to love about your new home.

UK Accounting Reference Dates For Private Limited Companies

Business/Business 2008-05-04
View Detail
When a private limited company is incorporated companies house advise the company of the accounting reference date and a set of financial accounts are required to be made up and submitted from the day of incorporation to this accounting reference date. The accounting reference date is set by companies house as the last day of the month 12 months after the date of incorporation.

For example a company registered on 7 January would have an accounting reference date of 31 January the following year. Financial accounts are required for the period from 7 January one year to the 31 January the following year.

The financial accounting period for a limited company which has been trading in previous years starts on the day after the accounting reference date and continues until the next accounting reference date. In the example above the final accounts including profit and loss account, balance sheet and notes to the accounts including audit report where required would be prepared from 1 February until 31 January.

The accounting reference date can be changed by a limited company by sending to companies house form 225. There is a time limit on when the form can be submitted which in any financial year is the day before the accounts are due for delivery to companies house.

There are a number of reasons why the directors of a limited company might wish to change its financial year end although in the vast majority of cases the financial year is not changed.

Common reasons for changing the financial year end date would be to bring the year end date into line with other business interests such as an associated company. Seasonal and trading factors may make one month end more appropriate or the company might wish more time to prepare a particular set of final accounts although it can be a problem if the date is changed more than once in a 5 year period.

A significant reason for changing the financial year end of a limited company would be to bring the company financial accounting period into line with the tax year as tax rules change from year to year and accounting and tax alignment simplifies the tax calculation as only one years tax rules would apply instead of two tax years rules when the tax year end is straddled.

For limited companies in the UK the practise in recent years has been for tax rules and capital tax allowances changes to be announced in the budget each year which is the third week of March and the tax rules to be applied from the 1 April the following year. An accounting year in line with the tax year end would then be 1 April to 31 March each year.

A new private company filing its first set of annual accounts must do so within 22 months of incorporation. In subsequent years the financial accounts need to be submitted to companies house within 10 months of the company accounting reference date. Companies house normally send a reminder of when the accounts need to be filed 6 to 8 weeks prior to the deadline date.

Companies house automatically impose an escalating scale of civil penalties on private companies for the late filing of the annual accounts as follows

Up to 3 months late the penalty fine is 100 pounds

Over 3 months and up to 6 months the penalty fine is 250 pounds

Over 6 months and up to 12 months the penalty fine is 500 pounds

Over 12 months the penalty fine is 1000 pounds

The accounting documents to be sent to companies house which are required to be prepared in a specific format and in addition to stating the registered office of the company and the company registration number for identification purposes must also send

Profit and loss account or income and expenditure account for a non profit organisation.

Balance sheet signed and dated by a company director stating the company asset and liabilities balances.

Directors report signed by a director or company secretary describing the companies activities and also including for companies not classified as small and exempt a business review of future performance.

Auditors report signed by the auditor unless the company is exempt from audit under the small companies exemption rules.

When a small private company submits abbreviated accounts and takes advantage of the exemptions then the accounts must also contain the statutory statements as notes to the accounts advising the basis and exemptions under which the annual accounts have been prepared.

Primary education

The origin of the term ‘education' can be traced to Latin roots from the term ‘educare' meaning ‘to raise' or ‘to nourish'. The main purpose of bestowing education is to imparting and development of knowledge and its significant application in life in positive aspects and also in the growth of wisdom and social and cultural consciousness. As a result the process of communicating and interacting with students and therefore the efficiency of the teacher and his skills are equally vital for the spread of education. In fact it is necessary to note that all the countries of the world are pledged to extend the cause of education by reaching out to every nook and corner and ensure that every individual is literate. Literacy is a fundamental right of every human being irrespective of geographical boundaries and every child is entitled to receive basic education. Different disciplines contribute accordingly in the spread of education. Here it is to be pointed out that education begins form the grassroots level at home among one's family and peers but elementary school education begins in the form of primary education and is followed by secondary education and then higher education. Therefore it is not wrong to refer to primary education as the first step towards attaining a bright future. It is the first stage which every child has to embark on in the beginning.

Primary education more often follows nursery or pre-school education. Primary education is a vital stage in the development of the consciousness and personality of the child as it is at this juncture that a whole new world of bright ideas and knowledge open up in front of their eyes. At this stage children are extremely inquisitive and elementary education must encourage this tendency among the children. As the child attains about twelve years of age, he becomes eligible for high school or secondary education. However there are several educational institutions which provide middle school facilities which make the transition form primary to secondary schools quite gradual. Literacy is one of the most important goals that primary education sets to achieve and primary education concerns itself with introducing the study of history, geography, science and the various social sciences along with the necessary languages that need to be learnt. Primary education also encourages the practicing of the liberal arts like music, dance, fine arts and even facilitates physical fitness along with the development of the mind.

Well since this is true you should think about Taking advantage of the many education-rights.com/Parenting-Education.php>parenting education classes that you will be able to find. These classes are very enlightening and you will find that there are other parents who might like help with the same issues that trouble you.

With parenting education classes are not just theoretical, they relate to the many of the subjects that are happening right now in our lives. As children are constantly developing and ever-changing before our eyes we need help in understanding how to raise them in our complicated world. This help has to be consistent with our surroundings and the diverse problems that are encountered.

One of the many questions that you as a parent will have to deal with is that of your child’s education. There are many parents who will tell you that they have already chosen the schools their kid will attend all the way up to university. GPS as an Accurate Time Reference

David Evans Reference Education/Reference Education 2007-04-05

Many time critical computer network systems, such as NTP servers, utilise the GPS system as a precise timing reference.

This article describes how the Global Positioning System can be used to provide a precise timing reference and provides an overview of the equipment required.

The Global Positioning System is a US military solution for navigation. The system consists of 24 orbiting satellites. The satellites each have a precise atomic clock referenced to UTC time. The highly precise atomic clocks are used to calculate transmission times for coordination triangulation. However, the timing information provided by the satellites can also be used as an accurate timing reference for computer network timing systems, such as NTP Server systems.

The GPS satellites are continuously broadcasting time and position information. This information can be obtained anywhere in the world with a simple GPS receiver and antenna. There are no set up or subscription fees to utilise the GPS system. Accuracy

GPS receivers provide highly accurate position and timing information. Typically, a GPS receiver can provide positioning information to an accuracy of 15m. NTP Server systems can obtain timing information from the GPS system to a resolution of a few nanoseconds.

GPS Signals

The GPS signals transmitted from each satellite are very weak low-power radio signals, designated band L1 and band L2. The L1 frequency is the civilian GPS signal transmitted at 1575.42 MHz. The signals travel by line of sight and can pass through clouds, glass and plastics but are blocked by objects such as metal and brickwork. The best location for an antenna is generally on a rooftop with a unobscured view of the sky. Often, installation on the side of a building with a 180-degree view of the sky will provide adequate results, provided the horizon is not too obscured. As a rule of thumb, the better the view of the sky, the greater the likelihood of a good consistent signal lock.

GPS Antenna Types

The GPS antenna is effectively an amplifier that boosts the weak GPS signal for transmission along a cable to the GPS receiver. GPS antenna's provided with NTP server systems or static applications utilise a pole-mounting system. The antenna screws onto a threaded pole for installation on rooftops. This arrangement provides the antenna with a rigid mount easily able to withstand adverse weather conditions. Typically the GPS antenna is fairly small in size, measuring less than 90cm in diameter. Patch type antennas are also available that are particularly suited to mobile or vehicle applications.

GPS Cabling Issues

The cable distance that can be utilised by a GPS system depends mainly on the amplification of the antenna and the quality of coax used in the installation. A typical antenna may have a gain of 26 db. Coax cable such as RG58 has an attenuation of 0.64 db/m at 1575 MHz. Therefore, a cable run of 40m can be utilised. Also allow for signal reduction through any connectors. GPS Amplifiers, Splitters and Surge Suppressors

In-line GPS amplifiers provide further amplification of the GPS signal to increase the cable distance between the antenna and receiver. The amplifiers are fitted in-line on the coax antenna cable. Typically, an in-line GPS amplifier may add 20-39 dB of gain, which may add upto 30m of coax cable. Additionally, multiple in-line amplifiers may be utilised to further increase cable distance.

A single GPS splitter allows multiple NTP Servers or other GPS systems to share an antenna. For example, multiple NTP server system may share a single antenna, reducing installation and cabling costs. The GPS splitter splits the signal received from the GPS antenna into multiple outputs for synchronizing multiple NTP servers. GPS splitters are generally available with 2, 4 or 8 outputs.

Surge suppressors protect expensive NTP server equipment from electro-static discharges, such as lightning, that may be picked up by an externally mounted antenna. Surge suppressors are installed in-line on the coax cable between the antenna and receiver, ideally where the cable enters the building. Surge suppressors require a low-impedance ground, to discharge any surge picked up at the antenna.
