Condo Or Single Family Home

Albert Bor Finance/Real Estate 2007-06-13
View Detail

Deciding what kind of home to purchase may just be one of the most important decisions a person ever makes. It ranks right up there with decisions about your focus in life and the job you take. After all, a home is the base whereupon all other aspects of life happen from. It is also one of the major decisions that will help to shape your financial future. In choosing a home you will need to ascertain your home needs and wants and then choose the style of home that suits you best. In our modern world there are really two basic choices for a home style, condos and single family homes.

Condos are a great starter property. With many condo developments possessing a starting price lower than the average single family home, they have become a favorite choice of first-time buyers. Condos offer a unique lifestyle that is based around a community living model, much like apartments but with the major difference that the units are owned rather than rented. This style of living has several benefits for residents, the most notable of which is the fact that maintenance of the property is handled by a management company. This kind of environment is highly desirable for those who simply do not have the time or ability to maintain a traditional property. Now keep in mind that in condos there will be a monthly condo fee on top of whatever mortgage you are paying. These funds go to the aforesaid property maintenance and building improvements. Many current developments also feature extras like spas, health clubs, meeting rooms and other community based services.

Traditional homes are the other major housing choice. The list of benefits of owning your own home is well documented and there is little need to go into that exhaustively. A single family home is by definition great for a family as most condos are ideal for one or two people but when considering a larger family, the home reigns supreme. There is also something to be said for owning a parcel of property and seeing your hard work pay off as the property becomes more and more value due to appreciation. There is also the peace of mind in knowing that if you need the extra space you can simply add on to the home. Really, the only limit of what you can do to a home is your imagination; or your wallet.

The choice is yours. There is no one better to assess your home needs. Be realistic with yourself about what you need, what you want, and what you can afford both short-term and long-term.

Starting A Family Home Business

Obinna Heche Business/Home Business 2007-04-24

There are many good ways to have a home business. Some people feel that you should run your home business as you would a regular business, which means that you are the boss and you are the one in control. Some other people might feel that you should not involve your family in your home business because it will make it too complicated. However, some people feel that it is important to involve your family in your business because that is what family is all about.

You have to think about the fact that while your home business is indeed a business run from your home, it is, after all, a business. You should think about whether or not to include your family in your home business in the same way that you would think about whether or not to include your family in a regular business. It is very important that you think long and hard about this and make a decision based upon several factors, such as your family, your business and you.

First of all, you have to consider your family. Is your family dependable and are they going to be willing to work just as hard as you to make the home business a success? There are many factors that are going to play into this. If your spouse already has a job that they love and take seriously, they might not have time to get involved in your home business. However, if they want to quit their job and work together with you, the two of you could make your home business even stronger and bigger and be more of a success. So, it is very important to consider your family.

Secondly, you have to consider what the business itself is. Is your home business something that you want your children to be involved with or does it deal with things that you would rather keep to yourself? Is the home business something that you want to pass on to your children or something that you only plan on doing for a few years? This is important to consider as well, because it is going to factor into your decision.

The last thing that you have to think about is whether or not you are the kind of person that can work well with members of your family. If you think that you can, go ahead and bring them aboard. However, if you are going to get angry and stressed out, you might want to hire employees that are removed from your family, instead of subjecting your family to that.

No matter what, you have to decide for yourself if the home business is a good venture for your family or just for you. Either way it can be profitable for you and there is nothing wrong with involving your family, just as there is nothing wrong with not involving them. It is completely up to you, your business and your family.

Family Involvement with Home Business

Michael Laleye Business/Home Business 2008-04-17

There are many ways that you can make your home business stronger and more apt to last a long time. One of these ways is to get as much family involvement as you can. Think about businesses that are not home businesses. Often, the business that is a family run business is the most successful. There is no reason that your home business can't be family run in the same manner. Getting the biggest family involvement that you can might not be easy, but it can be something that you are able to do nonetheless.

The best way to get your family involved in your home business is to sit them down and explain to them what you are doing. You want to be able to explain to them exactly what you are doing in your home business, and you want them to be behind you and supporting you no matter what. After they know exactly what you are doing, they might be able to brainstorm ways to help you do it even better. Stranger things have happened!

When it comes time for them to be involved, you have to decide upon their involvement based on what they are already doing. If your spouse has a career, they might not be able to be as involved as you would like. The same goes with children and school or other activities. However, you should ask them how they would like to be involved. Simply taking out your office garbage can every day is a great way for a young child to begin to be involved in your home business. Little things do matter with your home business, and you can give your own business a start in the right directly by allowing this to happen for you.

When it comes time for someone in your family to find a career, why not think about allowing them to work for the home business with you? This can be a great way to get them all involved. And it can make it much easier on you. If you have a child that is a wiz at math, why not allow them to do the book keeping for your home business? Having that one part of it that you no longer have to take care of can be a great step for you, and getting them involved with your home business can be a great step for them.

No matter what you have got them doing for your home business, there are lots of things that can come from it. Having family time mixed together with home business time is a great way to get closer to your family. Teaching your children valuable skills is a great way to help them with their education as well as to get closer to them. And sharing the work between everyone means that all of you are going to have more time to spend doing fun things instead of working. Getting your family involved in your home business is a win-win situation for all of you.

Home Security Tips Help Protect Family And Home

If you are concerned about home security you are one of the vast majority of Americans that consider this as one of the most important matters they currently face. As we all are aware crimes of burglary and theft continue to grow alarmingly. Even cities and suburbs that were once considered to be safe and crime free are now experiencing unparalleled levels of crime including theft, burglary as well as violent and armed hold-ups.

Well what can you, as a concerned homeowner, do to protect yourself, your family and property from the prospect of experiencing crime? Here are a number of quite simple and straightforward home security tips on how you can protect your home, family and assets.

While sophisticated security and alarm systems can make the homeowner feel more comfortable and secure often the cost of these systems are beyond the financial means of many people. So for people who are not able to afford the cost of installing alarm systems we have a few home security tips and suggestions that will help you in your war against petty crime.

First off you should check all doors leading into your home. Inspect the door to ensure they are not hollow because hollow doors are relatively easy and quick to break and this allows for quick undetected entry into your home. If you have any hollow doors (or doors with windows) consider replacing them with solid timber doors or better still with metal ones as this will be a serious deterrent to would-be thieves.

Where possible use loud alarms which are likely to scare away the vast majority of burglars. If you have sliding doors or windows it is recommended that as well as having a secure locking mechanism you also reinforce them by placing a wooden or steel pole in the sliding track to prevent the door or window from being forced open.

One of the best ways to assess the security of your home is to walk around the exterior perimeter and look for any weakness in your security precautions. For example it is strongly recommended not to allow trees or shrubs to grow in front of windows, especially in the rear of the home. The foliage is a perfect camouflage for any burglar while they are attempting to gain access to your home.

A further home security tip is to eliminate dark areas around the home by installing small lights near shrubbery so as to allow you to light up these areas at night or to connect the lighting with motion sensors so as to help ward off potential thieves.

View Your Home Through The Eyes Of A Burglar

It is well known that most burglars, even the most professional and proficient, will only try to enter the house that offers the least resistance. Their method of operation is almost universal in that they want to get in and get out as quickly as possible without drawing attention to themselves. As a deterrent why not put up signs warning that your home has a security system installed as this can often cause burglars to ignore your home and keep moving to the next house in the neighborhood.

Other home security tips include always keeping the curtains drawn at night and when ever the property is unoccupied always keep your valuables out of sight. It is common knowledge that many burglars target the theft of expensive, high-demand electronics which they can see sitting on tables and desks. So as a precaution ensure that these items are placed out of view.

If burglars can not observe easy accessible property from their vantage point outside then it is highly unlikely that they will try to gain access to your home on the off chance that you possess something worth their effort.

Always close and lock windows and doors at night and when you are out. Draw your curtains at night or when the house is unattended. Install external security lights, preferably those that are activated by motion sensors and ensure your valuables cannot be seen from the outside. By taking a few simple precautions with these home security tips will be well on your way to protecting your family and property.

Home Security Articles: Protecting Your Home And Family

Bridget Nelson Home Family/Home Improvement 2007-12-27

The slaying of a professional football player during an attempted robbery led to a multitude of home security articles on the web and elsewhere. Many people want to know what they can do to keep such a situation from happening. This might be resolved with a home security door lock that bolts more securely than their existing model.

When reading home security articles, several themes will be common to most of them. Having a good home security lock on every exterior door and keeping them locked is universal. Many will also recommend using alarms and home security services, but locks are the obvious first line of defense.

Even the most modern, up to date locks are useless if they are left open. Make sure that everyone in the family has a key and uses it every time they leave the house. And burglars know all the places you might hide a key. Don't use a fake rock or a "convenient" door frame. You might consider leaving an emergency spare with a neighbor instead.

Articles about home security often talk about the various types of locks, including how much safety they provide. Obviously, an antiquated lock that uses a skeleton key is not the safest, but many current locks are also easy to break into. If one person can use a credit card to pick a lock, chances are most people are able to as well.

A security lock is only as good as its box which needs to be anchored securely in the door frame using 3" screws or nails or larger. Make sure it is rated "kick proof" and that the bolt itself is at least 1 1/2 "long. If there is window glass near the location of the lock, a special type of lock is required which can't be opened just by breaking the glass and reaching in to turn the lock. Before installing a new lock, be sure to check the local building codes to make sure you're within the code.

Many home security articles have been written regarding safety measures you should take if you're at home and your safety system fails. The best method is to hide in a closet with a cell phone and immediately call 911. If you have no opportunity to hide and are faced with intruders, make sure you never look them directly in the eye. Try to notice as many things about them as you can without obviously staring at them. However, the bottom line is that it's better not to have to deal with this situation at all by having high quality locks installed correctly before the problem happens.

Since the tragic death of NFL player Sean Taylor, who was a victim in a home invasion, there have been numerous home security articles and an increased interest in the security measures you can take to avoid such an occurrence. For many people, this will mean a new home security door lock that is an improvement over the one they currently have. Many articles will state the importance of having a secure home security lock and making sure it is locked on all doors that lead outside or will advocate for the use of alarm systems and home security services. However, using locks is the basis.

Home of the Grimaldi Family

A sovereign and independent state, the Principality of Monaco has borders on its landward side with several communes of the French Department of the Alps Maritimes. Although the second-smallest independent state in the world, Monaco benefits from an excellent climate and beautiful settings on the Cote d'Azur.

Prince Rainier III ascended to the throne in 1949 and caught the world's attention with his marriage to actress Grace Kelly. In 1997, the Grimaldi family celebrated the 700th anniversary of its reign in Monaco.

Monaco survives principally by providing tax concessions and discreet banking facilities for wealthy foreigners. Monaco attracts many extremely wealthy individuals as residents.

In the main harbour, there are expensive luxury yachts and boats, which are a permanent fixture. Monaco's pleasant climate, reputation and environment as well as the absence of income or inheritance tax and lack of financial reporting requirements all contribute to this situation.

Night life is not a problem. There are three casinos including the famous Monte Carlo Casino. Discos abound, restaurants - while surprisingly mediocre - are plentiful. Surprisingly, attire is casual in most places, with the exception of the more expensive places such as the Hotel de' Paris restaurant and the back rooms of the Monte Carlo Casino. In most of the casino, casual attire is acceptable, though you will feel a bit underdressed. If that is a problem, two other smaller casinos down the road are available.

There are alley way shops that sell the souvenirs and gift items. Some are located near the cathedral. The Casino Square and neighbouring thoroughfares are lined with the expensive jewellery stores and the expensive clothing stores.

The late Prince Rainier III opened a showcase of his private collection of more than 100 vintage autos, including the 1956 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud that carried the prince and princess on their wedding day. Monaco shopkeepers gave it to the royal couple as a wedding present. A 1952 Austin Taxi on display was once used as the royal family car

Musee National de Monaco is in a villa designed in a style that might have been by Charles Garnier, this museum houses a magnificent collection of antique mechanical toys and dolls. See the 18th-century Neapolitan crib, which contains some 200 figures. This collection, assembled by Mme de Galea, was presented to the principality in 1972, it originated with the 18th- and 19th-century practice of displaying new fashions on doll models.

Keeping Your Home And Family Safe In Home Surveillance

Jeanette Mazzola Home Family/Home Family 2008-01-16
View Detail

We would all like a peace of mind knowing that our homes are safe when leaving or on vacation. Unfortunately, the greatest number of break-ins occur when families are on vacation or away for longer periods. By installing a home surveillance system, this dramatically reduces the chance of your home being burglarized. In addition, a home surveillance system has other features such as options for calling your local fire or police department by pushing one button. Elderly or small children in the household would benefit from this feature, as a live person would be available in any state of emergency without using the phone.

Here are the basic choices to choose from:

Simple Surveillance: The system may include motion sensors, sound detectors, and photocells. Individual window alarms could be set in place, do-it-yourself wireless systems, and timers that would turn on lights at a programmed time to create an illusion that someone is home.

Other options with the Simple Surveillance would include interior alarms that monitor intrusions inside the home including panic switches, noise detection, motion sensors, photoelectric beams (light beams that trigger when interrupted) and pressure mats (flat switches that trigger by footsteps). In addition to home surveillance systems, adding dead bolts, heavy-duty strike plates, can help you secure your home. Outdoor motion detectors are sensor lights that also offer assistance in home surveillance.

The last option would be Perimeter Alarms where any perimeter being violated will ring a bell, or siren scaring most burglars away.

When it comes to the security and safety of your property and family, there is never an exact cost to help consider which system, but always know that there is a solution for keeping your home safe from violators. Anything new takes a short time to adjust, and before long, it becomes systematic in your everyday living.

In addition to burglary, fires and carbon monoxide claims a life each day. According to statistics over 1000 people die from carbon monoxide poisoning also referred to as "the odorless killer". Another 10,000 fall injury to carbon monoxide and/or fire. Fires claim more lives than carbon monoxide, therefore adding a CO, (Carbon Monoxide Alarm) Smoke alarm, and a home surveillance device to your home is not much to ask for compared to the lives you will save.

When you take action to protect your home, your family will have the security they need to survive such harsh worldly conditions. Taking action means to set up alarms, as well as securing your doors, windows, etc. The more security you supply to your home, the better chance you will have. Currently every 30 seconds someone dies in fires. In addition, someone s home is robbed at the same time a fire claims a life. While there is no such thing as complete home surveillance, there are measures you can take to protect your home.

Alarms
Alarms include smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms, commonly referred to as CO alarms. The CO-alarms and smoke detectors combined could bring you security. You can also purchase combined smoke and CO alarms to save money. The units alert you when smoke and/or carbon monoxide is putting you at risk.

Fires
If your home catches on fire you should have prepared ahead of time to get your family to safety. Do your kids know what to do if their clothing catches fire? Do they know to cover their face, drop, and roll until the fire is out? You can prevent fires however by adding updated fire alarms, smoke detectors, and carbon monoxide alarms to your home. Check the devices weekly and restore the batteries when necessary. If you install updated fire, smoke, or CO-alarms it is important that you repeatedly remind your family what to do in the event the systems sound. The children should be taught to avoid hiding from the fire. Rather, the children should have a safety plan which instructs them to safety. Practicing safety plans weekly can help you children prepare. Since heat rises, the children should be instructed to drop to the floor and stay low to the ground while working their way out of the home. The children should be informed to avoid stopping for pickups, such as favorite items. Safety first means forget materials and get out of the home. Once the family is outside of the home on safe grounds, it is important that you inform your family to meet in the same place. Do a head count to make sure everyone is out of the home safely.

Carbon Monoxide:
If you have a CO-alarm setup in your home, teach your children what to do just as you would instruct them to do with smoke alarms. Set up the same plan that you would set for home fires. If carbon monoxide leaks into your home, it is important to call 911 now, and get out of the house. Stay in the air until the emergency team arrives, and do not go back into the home until you have been properly instructed by the emergency team.

Buying A Family Home In Ocala

Vanessa Doctor Business/Business 2008-02-19
View Detail
The central Florida city of Ocala, as well as the whole of Marion County,is still being viewed as a viable and healthy housing destination, especially because of its location and since housing is still considered to be cheaper here, than in many areas in South Florida and in northern states.

The county's recent move to hike impact fees has also not yet had an effect on the overall home development market, notes the Marion County Building Association. While the resale housing market in this county looks to be losing some of its fizz, the aspects of new home construction and sales are still fairly soaring.

Home Building Is Still Up In this Area

According to recent data, the number of builders asking for permits at the Marion County Building Department to construct single-family homes is setting new local records. The department has already issued around 1,765 permits for constructing new, single-family homes from April through June of this year, not including those planned for construction within the city limits.

According to local officials, this figure is up by 40 percent from the 1,260 issued over the same period last year. For those same months, the sale of existing single-family homes in the city totaled 1,423, which is down by more than 18 percent from the 1,743 sold during that period last year, based on data given by the Florida Association of realtors.

How To Find Good Areas For Buying Homes In Ocala

For those who wish to buy homes in the city's neighborhoods like Crystal River, Inverness, Dunnellon Beverly Hills or other areas, the first task is to get a good map, and get to drive around town, as this wil help prospective home buyers familiarize themselves with the city's layout.

If this couldn't be possible, you could also check on the Internet for more information on the city's real estate selections, and you may also take an online tour of its neighborhoods. For those who already have made arrangements with a local property broker, it would be best ask or inquire further about the city's housing trends, and then ask other brokers about how they view the current housing market.

It would also be good to consider the identity and condition of he neighborhood in your overall home search, as the general impression given by an area would be vital to its present and future values. In getting a better estimate or overview, try driving around the neighborhood. You should know that a home's value is further strengthened by other well-maintained properties. You need to be quite wary of some neighborhoods with poorly-maintained yards and homes, as well as businesses mixed in with residences.

In addition, check with your local property broker about the tax assessments in the area, as well as by asking about any special assessments or pending bond issues. You also need to pay close scrutiny to a neighborhood's zoning regulations, as better-off residential neighborhoods are zoned to keep out commercial and industrial users, sunce this will be helpful, especially if you want to re-sell your home someday.

According to local housing analysts, there was a modest slump in the new home market a few months ago, however the industry has already rebounded, and the rate of home construction is back to its previous levels.

The temporary problem for new construction resulted partly when construction speculators built homes with no particular buyers in mind or in tow, as these were hoping to cash in on the previous housing boom. The home developments bought by speculators flooded the market for a short time, but have now been absorbed by buyers.

How Can Home Security Monitoring Protect Your Family And Home?

Ralph Winn Home Family/Home Management 2008-04-06
View Detail

Did you know that there are many different options available when it comes to home security monitoring? There are more options than you probably realize, unless you are knowledgeable about these systems. A basic security monitoring system will protect your family and your home from burglars but it can also do a lot more than that. Here are some of the other things that home security monitoring can do.

Protection from fire This is a big capability that a home security monitoring system has. It won t be able to stop fires from happening but it will sound an alarm that will alert the fire department fast enough that catastrophic damage can be avoided. Many security monitoring systems have smoke detection built into it and this allows the system to detect when there is smoke, which could mean a fire in your home. When this happens there will be an alarm that is sounded that will alert the staff that smoke has been detected. They will then contact you to find out if it is real or a false alarm; if it is real than they will contact your local fire department to let them know about the fire.

Security cameras in your home With home security monitoring you can place cameras inside your home to watch anyone that is in your home unsupervised. This will let you see what happens in your home when you are not home. You can review the images from the cameras when you get home. This will help to protect your things if you have strangers in your home when you are not able to be there.

Security cameras outside your home This will allow you to see your home outside while you are safe indoors. You want to place a security camera near your front door so that you can check your monitor to see who is at your door if your doorbell rings. This is optional but it can help protect you from burglars and unwanted visitors. By having a camera by your front door you can protect yourself because if anyone looks suspicious you don t have to answer the door but you can still see what they are doing.

When it comes to home security monitoring there can be a lot of different components. Having good security monitoring can help protect you from fire and from burglars. So choosing a good system is important. You want to make sure you take your time and learn as much as you can about these systems before you decide what to get.

The more information you know about home security monitoring the easier it will be for you to find what you need. Don t rush your decision because the safety of your family is very important. So always take your time. Talk to someone about it that knows a lot if you are having problems deciding. This will help you more than anything else will. Protecting your home is easier than you make think it is and it doesn t cost as much either.

Investing In Single Family Homes

Kris Koonar Writing Speaking/non fiction 2007-05-16
View Detail

Similar to other forms of investment, real estate also has its own share of ups and downs. But, of late, it has been receiving bad publicity. Many people consider investing in single family homes as a better option than apartments, shopping centers, office buildings or raw land. It is essential to know a little about investment in single family homes, before you jump into making an investment. It is important to know about the kind of problems that can arise in a particular area. For example, if you buy a house in an area which is flood prone, the tenants to whom you rent the house can sue you.

In case such a situation arises, you are likely to end up losing the house. Besides, you should also know about the property value in a locality. In case many houses are being built up in a particular area, it signifies that the property value of the house is likely to go up. So, it is important that you check on the demand of real estate properties in a particular area before making an investment in single family homes. In addition, you should also know about the kinds of homes that can be difficult to resell or rent out. More often than not, homes with two or less bedrooms are difficult to rent or resell.

Investing in single family homes offers a number of benefits over apartments or other types of buildings. Some of the advantages are as follows:

. Requires less money: It offers a common man with the opportunity to buy a home at a low cost. In most cases, you require to pay around 10% down payment. This implies that you can purchase a home worth $ 100,000 for a down payment of only $10,000. Single family houses are considered to be brilliant options for average real estate investors, as it is feasible for the average investor to save $10,000, while buying the property.

. Flexibility: Single family houses offer greater flexibility, as compared to apartments or shopping complexes. For example, let us assume that you could buy one apartment or five houses with the same amount of money. When you require money, you would have to sell the whole apartment, bring a partner or refinance the entire property. However, in case of houses, you might have to sell only one, arrange for a partner for one or refinance just for one. It implies that as compared to single family houses, apartments are difficult to get rid off.

. Higher Equity build up: More often than not, a single family home is likely to earn more appreciation as compared to other types of real estate like houses and apartments. The value of an apartment depends on the income it can generate. Whereas, the value of a single family home depends on comparable sales.

. Low chances of rent control: Rent control refers to a situation when the government informs you about the rent to be charged. In many big cities, buildings have been abandoned, as the owners were unable to charge sufficient rent to cover their basic costs. But, in the case of a single family home, the rent control laws do not apply to them, in most cities.

A Home Business Could Ruin Your Family Life

Naz Daud Business/Business 2008-03-05

Running a business from home could put a strain on your family life. You have now turned what was once a family home where people came to relax after work or school, into a business environment.

When you were working outside the house, your partner only saw you for a few hours every day. Now s/he can not get away from you without leaving the house. No longer is there a clear distinction between work and family related matters.

The children get fed up with you taking over the house. They used to love coming home and playing, shouting and screaming after working hard at school. Now not only do they have to behave and be quieter, but you also try and rope them in to help you with daily business tasks!

You need to think about how your work is affecting your family mentally. What extra stresses and strains do they face now that they did not before? If you have had a bad day in your business do you take it out on your family? Remember this is a family home first and a business second or is it the other way around?

Your family went through hell when the home business was struggling. It gets even worse for the family when the business starts doing well. All of a sudden more people are visiting the house. You get even more mail and deliveries and the phone does not stop ringing? Now even the neighbours are starting to get annoyed!

So how do your overcome these problems? Well a great idea if at all possible is to have your office with its own entrance in a corner of the house. Even better, move it out of the house altogether perhaps in a purpose built building in the garden or convert the garage? A dedicated business line is a must and a separate mailbox is good idea.

Try and organise as many meetings as you can away from the house. Not only do you get a break from being cooped up all day in the home office but at one stroke you reduce the traffic in your family home. I have a favourite hotel in Dundee that I used regularly. I am great friends with the manager of the hotel and the staff. I always used the same quiet area of the hotel and the manager referred to this area as my second office!

Set aside hours where if at all possible you take a complete break from business life and dedicate this time for family life. This is not a hard and fast rule you can break it now and then but be as strict as possible.

Sooner or later if your business goes according to plan, you will either have to outsource a lot of work or alternatively think about getting dedicated premises away from the house. Outsourcing simple tasks like payrolls, book keeping and possibly even sales will allow you to do much more business before you have to make the move.

Running a business from home offers so many advantages to the traditional route: lower overheads, less time spent on the daily commute, low running costs and much more. Make sure that it does not jeopardize your family relationships.

Christian Home Schooling, Family Values, and Politics

As the political season is in full swing, it appears obvious that this is going to be one of the most intense and highly debated political races that the United States has seen in a long time. On the Republican side, Senator John McCain is the inevitable candidate, having knocked Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani out of the race while still competing with former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, who is refusing to drop out of the race. Democrats Hillary Clinton and Barak Obama are now in a heated battle for the nomination as North Carolina Senator, John Edwards has dropped out.

As the party conventions approach, it seems like every special interest group imaginable is throwing their hat into the ring to either throw support behind a like-minded candidate, or to challenge the politics of a candidate that they believe particularly threatens their agenda. I heard an interesting discussion on the radio recently concerning Mike Huckabee's endorsement by a Christian home school group who believes that the former governor's evangelical Christian background (he's a former Baptist minister) makes him their candidate of choice.

Christian home schooling is becoming a very popular form of education across America, particularly for evangelicals who see it as a way to ensure that their children receive only influences that they deem to be appropriate. Furthermore, the Christian home school agenda allows family bonds to be strengthened as children spend more time in the home where family-based activities can be encouraged. Additionally, parents are able to have a much bigger hand in the home school curriculum of their children.

While there are obvious arguments for and against the lifestyle of Christian home schooling, neither the pros nor the cons should be considered out of context. The benefits, including the increase in family and personal values, the ability to move at a quicker pace, and the ability to more closely control your child's home school curriculum are very strong endorsements for homeschooling.

While the potential for homeschooled children's social skills could be a deterrent from some parents, there are numerous social groups available for homeschooled children that were not available several years ago. Additionally, church and community activities, such as boy scouts and girl scouts can help nurture a child's social life.

Obviously homeschooling isn't the epitome of family values, but it certainly does help in a society such as ours to instill stronger families and thus stronger citizens. That being said, there are certainly many additional factors that we should all consider when selecting our next President.

Working From Home With Your Family

Many people think of working from home as a way to simply make the money that they need to make in order to pay the bills so that their family can live as comfortably as possible. Too many times when someone is working from home, they take their family for granted and the family starts to feel as if the work from home job might take up just as much of their loved ones time and energy than a job would if they were going to it.

Also, it is way to easy for someone to take on too much work as they work from home, because they might be tempted to simply work all day and all night and will forget to take the time to be away from work. Having a job at home means that you are never away from your job, which can be very dangerous. There are several ways to make sure that your family does not get lost in the shuffle when it comes to you working from home. First of all, you can figure out a family business that everyone can get involved in.

Even the youngest family members can help to pick out products or to box and ship things that have been purchased. You can get your entire family involved because there are things to be learned for all, and there are tasks that can be accomplished at each level. If your family is involved in your work from home business, you might find that you are able to actually make work into something that everyone can be a part of, and it will ott be so much work anymore.

Another thing that you can do is to make your work time correspond with the times where your family is doing something else. Try to get your work done while the kids are at school or after they have gone to sleep. Try not to be working all of the time, remember that even though you are working from home you should not be spending all of your time in your office or your shop.

There should be times that are designated as times that are not for working, and you should be sure that you are sticking by the rules that you have set for yourself so that you do not get burned out. Remember that working from home should be something that is enjoyable to you and something that benefits your family and yourself. It is not going to do anybody any good if you work at home and you are not able to enjoy yourself or your life. Try to keep it positive and try to keep it real.

Spanish Vocabulary - Home And Family

David Bennet Reference Education/Reference Education 2007-03-20

Before heading over to a foreign land it is vital you introduce yourself to the language and build a basic vocabulary. The good thing about learning Spanish is that many English words derive from the Latin language, meaning it's often simple to understand and associate Spanish words with their English equivalents.

A good place to start learning Spanish is by creating fun Spanish lessons in your own home. Talking about your home offers a range of places and opportunities to discover new phrases and build your Spanish vocabulary. Let's start by translating words about your home, then we can move onto the people inside your home, your family.

Research has proven that having fun and making a game out of Spanish lessons is one of the most effective ways to learn and retain the knowledge you acquire.

Take the everyday Spanish vocabulary below and use the words to create some bright and colorful flashcards.... believe me, this works! Write down some of the items and names you find throughout your home on one side of the flashcards, and on the other side write the Spanish translation. Once you've finished your flashcards, tape them to the appropriate items throughout your house with the Spanish side facing out, and as you go about your day, say the words aloud to familiarize yourself with these new, Spanish household items.

After two weeks you should feel comfortable and are able to remember the Spanish names without looking at the flashcards. Have someone test you with the flashcards by shifting the flashcards around your home, see if you can get all the note cards back on the correct items without referring to the English translations.

Although this may sound like a really basic, even childish way to learn, this visualization approach to learning Spanish is actually much more effective than simply reading and re-reading off a piece of paper or exercise book, you can expect build your vocabulary faster, and remember what you learn for years to come.

Inside Your Home

Remember the verb 'to live' from previous Spanish lessons? We are going to use that verb in its conjugated form to describe your home. Here's a re-cap of Pedro and Tito's conversation.

Tito - ¿Vives en una casa?

Pedro - Si, vivo en una casa vieja de dos pisos. ¿Y tu? (Yes, I live in an old two story house.)
Tito - No, vivo en un apartamento. (No, I live in an apartment.)

A Home Business Should Be A Family Affair...

Sherry Frewerd Business/Business 2008-05-05

If you own a home business, does your family participate or do you work alone?

I've heard tales, and for a short while lived them, about how a spouse will eagerly start a home based business of one sort or another and before they can even get their feet wet in the business - - BAM the other spouse starts belittling and generally putting a damper on the once enthusiastic entrepreneur's ambitions.

Luckily for me, my husband saw that I don't just talk about something that I intend to do, I do it - - so he's since changed his tune; especially now that I make as much from my home businesses as I did from my prior job, and we don't pay child care. Ha!

Anyway, it's been over 2 years since all that mess transpired, and I've seen and heard just about every story imaginable on the subject of home business start-ups/failures. I've also learned that most spouses, family members and 'friends' react in such damaging ways out of either fear or ignorance. I suppose some are just plain mean, but well, that's another issue we'll leave for Dr. Phil or Oprah.

For lucky business builders who have encouraging families, the work at home life is good, very good. My 14 year old daughter is my part-time Assistant, and her small salary is tax deductible too, so there's another plus in starting a business.

Creating a better future for the family is probably the most recurring 'Why' that I hear from new business owners. With such a strong reason driving the decision to work from home, then why shouldn't the entire family be involved? It's for them after all.

Find a way that even the littlest member can take part in the family business. Remember too that helping with chores, running errands, baby-sitting for younger sibs, taking turns with dinner etc. are all just as important as being able to do home office work, if not 'more' important in the long run.

If you're currently suffering with a spouse or partner who just doesn't 'get' what you're doing - please don't give up. Keep on building and trying and help them 'get' it through concrete results. Usually, with some home businesses, positive results that a 'non-biz' type can wrap their minds around, does take time. Unfortunately cash talks, however, and they may not take you seriously until you can show them your first check; and with persistence and consistency - - You will.

To Our Mutual Prosperity ~

Home Based Business, A Family Friendly Option

Tim Stephens Internet Business/Internet Business 2007-10-14

Mom and Dad are never home. The kids are out of control. The divorce rate is astronomical. Families are being torn apart and they are starting to wonder..did I lean my ladder up against the wrong wall?

The decline of the American family may be greatly due to the overwhelming amount of time constraints placed on parents. Trying to squeeze in a social life, keeping up the household chores and working a full time job...it's no wonder we are losing the parenting war. Time is divided between soccer games, PTA meetings, homework, cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping, errands, visiting friends, hobbies, home repair, vehicle maintenance, volunteer work, reading, after hours meetings with clients, going to the gym, doctor's appointments, retirement and college fund planning, quality time with the kids, conversation with your spouse, sex and getting your hair done... Whew! It is no wonder we drag ouselves out of bed!

Many families are looking at an Home Based business to relieve some of the stress while still bringing in income. Set your own schedule, work at your own pace all while considering what is really important in life. You are the boss, so no need to ask if you can have Tuesday night off to see your son's first public performance as a tree?).

Working from home can allow you to juggle your priorities according to your value system. Business priorities benefit the family and the family can now benefit the business. With home based businesses, the children can help with household and business tasks, while providing comic relief.

Involving the family in your business can provide a sense of belonging and togetherness. Camaraderie can carry the day when the work is overwhelming and every one pitches in to help. Children can learn important life lessons by being involved in the family business. Children learn more from watching than they ever do from you telling them what to do when you work from home. You will never have to give "parental guidance"...work ethic, honesty and integrity can all be taught without speaking a word. It's been said: "Children more attention pay to what you do than what you say"....and it is true!

There will be days when work spills over into time ordinarily spent with family. It is good to know however, that they are only a few steps away. "Butterfly kisses" can definately be the pick-me-up you need to get through that last hour of work!

A home based business is an excellent way to integrate work demands with family priorities.

Include the Whole Family on Home Improvements

Michele Rogers Home Family/Parenting 2007-04-02

With our busy schedules today we should use the whole family when it comes to projects for the home and back yard. By using our kids to help, it will make the projects seem quicker and best of all it’s a family affair!

You will be surprised at how young kids are willing to help. Seems the younger they are the more helpful they are! If you are redoing a back yard for a party that requires cleaning and moved furniture and other items, even though you can carry a chair by yourself, why not include the kids help. Tell them you want them to help you move it to another location. By using the family’s help you may think they will get in your way, at times that may be true, but if you plan ahead you will find there is nothing a whole family can accomplish.

Kids you will find are helpful in many ways. They can fetch paper bags, or trash sacks. Give them easy accomplishable task to do. By giving them a task that they can accomplish there is a lot of pride that goes with that. Most little ones love to brag, so if it’s a big job, include them in helping you. While you are indoors remodeling you may want to have help with destruction work, like taking up tiles. Be sure they have protective gloves if it is ceramic tile, and possibly safety goggles.

In using the whole family on home improvements you will find that it brings a special bonding to the family and most of all your jobs will get done a lot faster
