How Do YOU Take Care Of YOURSELF? Most of us know, almost instinctively, how too take care of others and we do it very well. We take of children, spouses, friends, and pets! Yet, when it comes to self-care, we don't seem to care.

It's as if we say to ourselves "take care of others and they will take care of me." Well, how is that working for you?

Other people cannot read your mind, no matter how much they love and care about you. Only you can take care of yourself!

It is actually your number one job.

The first step in taking care of yourself properly is:

Eat Right! Eat all those good healthy things that you're always telling others to eat. Get a medical check up and take supplements to boost and maintain your immune system. Say "No" to crash diets and lose weight by eating in moderation. Make the decision to stop smoking and stick to it!

Exercise! Exercise has been proven to have an enormous overall positive impact on our quality of life. In addition to helping us protect against some conditions, such as hypertension and stroke, obesity and some cancers, exercise helps us relax and breathe in a way that most of don't do at other times. The most important things to consider when planning your exercise routine, is to make sure it fits into your lifestyle and that you enjoy whatever program you choose.

The "S" word! Stress is a killer, literally and figuratively. Extreme and prolonged stress eventually weakens the immune system which leaves our bodies vulnerable to disease and other illnesses. In a less dramatic form, stress takes the joy out of living and makes us behave like "killjoys". We don't get along with others and they don't enjoy being around us. When we allow ourselves to be overstressed, even the smallest disappointment becomes a big issue and gets blown out of proportion.

One of the best ways, to handle stress is a "reality check" and an" attitude of gratitude". Realize that life and the world would go on, even if you died that minute. That thought usually sobers me up very quickly. In addition, I look for people and things in my life that I love and am grateful for. Do you have good health, a loving spouse, wonderful friends, a job you love? Say "thanks!" One of the blessings of examining your life with an attitude of gratitude is that you will want to be around to enjoy them for a long time.

And that means taking care of yourself!

A great way to take care of yourself is to look as good as feel. Get natural skin care here. Herbalhealthyskin

Skin Care: Men''s skin care

Nicholas Tan 2008-03-22
Title: Skin Care: Men''s skin care
‘Man skin care’ would seem like an alien topic to some men. It would have been even more alien a few years back. However, more and more men are now realising the importance of man skin care (and hence you see markets flush with man skin care products too). Even though the male skin is very different from that of a female, ‘man skin care’ is very similar to the skin care for women.

‘Man skin care’ too starts with cleansing. Water soluble cleansers are preferred. Cleansing helps remove the dirt, grease and pollutants from the skin and helps in preventing pore clogging. The inherent oily nature of male skin makes cleansing an important part of man skin care procedure. Cleansing should be done at least once every day, even better if it is done twice a day. Using soap on the face is discouraged.

‘Man skin care’ revolves a lot around shaving. Shaving foam/gel/cream and after shave lotion are one of the most important man skin care products. Serious ‘man skin care’ requires a proper selection of shaving related equipment and products. One of the main considerations in choosing shaving products should be the skin type (since the degree of oiliness differs from person to person). Alcohol-based aftershaves should be avoided. Proper ‘man skin care’ also mandates the use of good quality razors. Here, swivel-head razors are preferred since they are known to reduce cuts. Besides these products and equipment, it is also necessary that you use them properly. Be gentle when using your razor. Do not scratch it against your skin; use a soft and smooth action (after all it’s a matter of removing hair, not the skin itself).

Male skin is generally thicker and oilier, owing to larger pores and more active sebaceous glands. However, due to regular shaving, the skin can get dehydrated quite easily. Hence moisturisers too form an integral part of man skin care. Moisturising gel or cream should be applied after shaving. In fact, some shaving foams/ gel have an in-built moisturising effect too. Moisturisers should be patted gently over the face and massaged gently using upward strokes.

Though a man’s skin is less susceptible to skin cancer caused by UV radiation, using a sunscreen is also an important man skin care measure. You can use a moisturiser that combines sunscreen with the moisturising effect.

Another good option for ‘man skin care’ is to use man skin care products which have natural ingredients like aloe vera, sea salt and coconut etc. Naturally antiseptic oils e.g. lavender, tea tree etc also provide good means for man skin care.

Man skin care is not as difficult as a lot of men think. It just asks for a few minutes every day, in order to give you a healthy skin for present and for future.

Skin Care: Herbal skin care

Nicholas Tan 2008-03-22
Title: Skin Care: Herbal skin care
Skin care is not a topic of recent times; it has been in practice since ancient times, when herbal skin care was probably the only way to take care of skin. However, skin care has transformed in a big way. Herbal skin care routines have been replaced by synthetic/chemical-based skin care routines. The herbal skin care recipes which once used to be common place are not so popular today (and even unknown to a large population). This transformation from herbal skin care to synthetic, can probably be attributed to two things – our laziness (or just the fast pace of lives) and the commercialisation of skin care. Even herbal skin care products have been commercialised. These commercial herbal skin care products have to be mixed with preservatives in order to increase their shelf-life, hence making them less effective than the fresh ones made at home. However, it seems that things are changing fast and more people are now opting for natural and herbal skin care routines. But still, none want to make them at home and hence the commercial market of herbal skin care products is on the rise.

So what are these herbs or herbal skin care mechanisms?

Aloe vera, which is an extract from Aloe plant, is one of the best examples of herbal skin care product. Freshly extracted aloe vera is a natural hydrant that helps in soothing skin. It also helps in healing cuts and treating sun burns.

A number of herbs are known to possess cleansing properties. Dandelion, chamomile, lime flowers and rosemary herbs, are a few examples of such cleansers. Their herbal skin care properties get invoked when they are combined with other herbs like tea.

Antiseptics are another important part of Herbal skin care. Lavender, marigold, thyme and fennel are good examples of herbs that are known to possess antiseptic properties. Lavender water and rose water also form good toners.

Tea plays an important part in herbal skin care. Tea extracts are used for treatment of skin that has been damaged by UV radiation.

Oils prepared from herbal extracts present another means of herbal skin care. Tea tree oil, Lavender oil, borage oil and primrose oil are some popular oils used in herbal skin care. Some fruit oils (e.g. extracts from fruits like banana, apple and melon) find use in shower gels (as a hydrating mix)

Homeopathic treatments and aromatherapies also come under the umbrella of herbal skin care remedies.

Herbal skin care is good not only for the routine nourishing of skin but also for treatment of skin disorders like eczema and psorasis. Most herbal skin care products don’t have any side effects (the most important reason for preferring them over synthetic products) Moreover, herbal skin care products can be easily made at home, hence making them even more attractive. So, herbal skin care is the way to go. However, this does not mean that you totally discard the synthetic products. Some people go to the extent of debating with their dermatologist, if he/she suggests a synthetic product. You should accept the fact that some skin orders might need usage of clinically proven non-herbal skin care products.

Skin Care: Choosing a facial skin care product

Nicholas Tan 2008-03-22
Title: Skin Care: Choosing a facial skin care product
Talking about skin care, ‘facial skin care’ seems to top the chart. There are loads of facial skin care products available in the market. The most common facial skin care products are the ones that are used as part of daily routine. These include things like cleansers and moisturizers. Toners and exfoliation ones are well known too but not many people use them as such.

The general classification of facial skin care products is based on the following:

* Gender (so there are facial skin care products for men and there are facial skin care products for women) * Skin type (facial skin products for oily skin, facial skin care products for dry skin, facial skin care products for normal skin and facial skin care products for sensitive skin) * Age (facial skin care products for old and facial skin care products for young) * Skin disorder (i.e. facial skin care products for treatment of various skin orders like eczema, acne etc)

So that is your starting point for choosing a facial skin care product that suits you. A good way to start is by determining your skin type first. Also note that the skin type changes with age, so the facial skin product that suits you today, might not suit you forever and hence you need to constantly evaluate the effectiveness of your facial skin care product.

The facial skin care products are available in various forms i.e. creams, lotions, gels, masks etc, and a lot of people try to pit one against the other in their discussion on which form is best. However, one can’t really rate one form as better than another form. What suits you (and whatever you are comfortable with) is the best form of facial skin care product for you, really.

However, it’s important to note that these products work differently for different people. So the best thing is to try the facial skin care product on a small patch of skin (e.g. ear lobes) before actually going ahead and using it.

Another important consideration is the state of your skin. If you are suffering from a skin disorder of any kind, it is best to seek the advice of a dermatologist before you actually make your selection and start using a facial skin care product.

Once you have selected the facial skin care product for yourself, you also need to ensure that you use the facial skin care product in the right way i.e. follow correct procedures for application, use the correct quantity and make the facial product a part of your skin care routine.

Skin care - taking care of the inside so the outside looks good

Anthony Johnston 2008-02-15
Title: Skin care - taking care of the inside so the outside looks good
A while back a company in the States sent me "the be all and end all" in skin care products.

Well it would want to be at the price. Wow, this must be good. It feels good just putting it on - $100 for 10g! Anyways it seemed ok but surprisingly for a 70's man, I know quite a bit about skin care.

When you're born in North Queensland and have surfed nearly everyday since I was 4, I'd have looked like Keith Richards' Dad if I hadn't wised up.

Firstly, the number one biggest mistake in skin care is the obsession with external care over internal care. The outer layers of your skin are dead. Skin is renewed from the inside out and my 7 secret ingredients for great skin within are;

1. Water - Hydrating the skin is of the utmost importance so try and drink between 1-2 litres of water per day.

2. Essential Fatty Acids - My personal favourite is fish oil but other great sources include flaxseed, nuts, seeds, eggs, fish. For more information, read my article on fats.

3. Antioxidants - Vitamins A,C,E Most encapsulated forms of vitamin A are pretty poor in terms of quality. Try cod liver oil (molecularly distilled pharmaceutical grade and not farmed fish - email me if you are interested in the best brands on the market).

Or you could just try eating fish 3 times a week. Encapsulated vitamin E is usually just soybean oil so once again best to source this through the real oil - wheat germ oil is probably the best. Vitamin C is necessary for tissue growth and repair and vital for the formation of collagen.

4. Zinc - A wonder nutrient. Tissue regeneration, anti-inflammatory, wound healing, vitamin A-binding, protein formation. Try half a dozen oysters every other day or if you must supplement, zinc citrate 40 mg daily.

5. Selenium - Prevents free radical damage to cell membranes. Brazil nuts are a great source.

6. Bioflavonoids - Any colourful fruits and berries. Antioxidant and crucial for capillary strength.

7. Protein - A major building block for all animals. A structural component essential for skin integrity.

Things to Avoid: Alcohol, sugar, trans fats, tobacco

So we've covered the internal. Let's have a look at the best (and not necessarily the most expensive) products to use externally. When I contacted the American company about the ingredients of their wonder product, the salesman rattled off a pretty impressive list.

But once I looked down the list, things started to click. I said to the salesman, this looks like butter? I was greeted with a very awkward silence. So it's butter I said. Um....not entirely was the answer. What a cow.

Alright. Externally - Coconut oil, Olive oil, Emu oil (for sunburns), Biodynamic butter (unsalted), Avocado oil. If you are worried about the greasy look that oils can leave, use sparingly.

Apply after your shower.

Dog Day Care

Sandy Oberreuter 2007-06-21
Title: Dog Day Care

Dog day care is growing in popularity. It started

in California in 1987 and has been spreading

across the country every since.

I must admit it's not something I was aware of.

Of course, I know about kennels - a place to take

your dog if you just can't take him with you on a

trip but not dog day care. Isn't it child day

care? Anyway, one day when I was talking with my

son he mentioned he was taking his dog to dog day

care the next day. What's that? Anyway he said he

dog loved going there and he even had a dog

friend. Well, I had to look into this and so here

is what I came up with.

Dog day care is much like day care for children.

You drop your dog off in the mornings and pick

him up after work. Your dog gets to socialize

with other dogs, gets outdoor exercise, have

activities, play games like fetch. They even have

nap time! They have tug toys, balls and toys to

climb on. Some places have couches, chairs and

even bean bags for them. They even can attend an

obedience class.

These centers are generally in a large open space

like a renovated warehouse. They have an area for

large dogs and one for small dogs. They will also

have a large outdoor area.

Some centers have cameras going that you can get

on the internet and see what your dog is doing.

Do child care centers have that?

These dog day care centers are great for people

who feel guilty about spending so much time away

from their dogs. They offer dog owners options

giving their dog a day of play rather than

boredom and loneliness at home. They get to

interact with other dogs, get exercise and have

fun.

You know some dogs get so lonely and bored at

home alone they get into mischief like chewing on

shoes, furniture and whatever they can find. Some

dogs suffer from separation anxiety so this would

be a great way to help them by giving them dogs

to play with and people around.

Check out these factors when choosing a dog day

care center.

Are the employees trained? Some have been trained

in dog behavior, first aid and obedience training.

Is the facility clean? Is there an area

specifically for the dogs to potty? How does the

center smell?

Is the facility overcrowded?

Is the staff to dog ratio good? One staff member

to every 10-15 dogs is optimun.

Does it look like the staff enjoys the dogs?

Is there a security fence around the outdoor

areas? Are they high enough to prevent dogs from

jumping over?

Midday meals?

Do they give medications?

To get in a center your dog needs:

Current vaccinations.

Flea prevention

Sprayed/neutered

Dog must get along with other dogs.

Some centers have other services like overnight

boarding, dog training and grooming facilities.

Some will even pick your dog up and home and

return him at night.

I found cost from $15.00 a day to $35.00 a day

plus weekly rates so shop around.

These dog day care centers do provide a safe and

healthy atmosphere with lots of interaction with

people and other dogs.

Universal Health Care: What Is It ?

Jimmy Wild 2007-02-23
Title: Universal Health Care: What Is It ?
Universal Health Care has been in the news lately and every political campaign usually talks about it somewhere down the line. Universal health care is getting health care for every living American no matter how poor, how rich or ethnic backgrounds. Universal Health Care is one of the few services that haven't reached across the board of all American citizens. Universal heath care would reduce the burden that is taxing our health care system, which is right now in crisis. We don't have enough doctors or nurses to staff our hospitals now.

A universal health care must meet certain requirements to work well in the United States. We must include the entire population, which would include men, women, children, and immigrants. No one should be without it. This program could be wide open to discrimination so we must make sure it runs smoothly and corruption isn't anywhere to be found. Access to care is a must. Many times people don't have ways to get health care. We must provide transportation to and from the medical facilities so they can receive the proper treatment.

When a child shows a flicker of understanding when talking about health insurance, we feel that the objective of the meaning of health insurance being spread, being achieved.

A benefits package for universal health care is a must. Primary and specialty care must be included in the package. If we don't make sure we cover every aspect of health care we are doomed to fail. Most people can’t afford health care and it has become a luxury for most rather than a necessity. A lot of consumers have been priced right out of it. We need to get universal health care so these consumers can get the health care they need. Why is this important? Millions and millions of dollars are lost to workers being sick and not being able to do their jobs. Lost productivity hurts everyone involved. Fewer goods are manufactured thus increasing prices for the consumer. Health care is probably the most important subject in America today. Universal health care needs to adopted and implemented by a single source. This will save a lot of heartaches and problems.

Poor health causes many problems that universal health care could stop. The poor struggle to pay for housing and other needs just to make it through everyday. This can lead to mental illness and the quick depletion of their resources and becoming homeless is the natural progression. One number that people will find unbelievable is the amount of people without access to health care. Over 15 percent of Americans lack public or private health care. No universal health care puts public health at risk as untreated diseases can go unabated for years before the government can catch them. How many lives will we lose to this?

With insurance premiums skyrocketing one of the main reasons for this is; all the uninsured people who have to access free or low cost medical services. The only real way to recuperate the loss revenue by companies is to increase premiums to people who are now paying them. Universal health care would help control; costs and give everyone at least the opportunity to access health care. It should be a right of every American to have good health care.

Universal health care is something America has needed for a number of years now, so what's keeping it from happening? Many factors contribute to this and their really are no easy answers. Let’s look at a few and see why we’re one of the few countries without universal healthcare. Being a free country having universal health care would limit the amount of money doctors, dentists could charge everyone. This would not make those in the medical community very happy to have their earning power limited. How many other industries do we limit what someone earns and you have to look what is a certain service worth that a doctor or lawyer does. Can we really tell them it's only worth this amount?

Keeping to the point is very important when writing. So we have to stuck to health insurance, and have not wandered much from it to enhance understanding.

Our dreams of writing a lengthy article on health insurance has finally materialized Through this article on health insurance. however, only if you acknowledge its use, will we feel gratitude for writing it!

We have omitted irrelevant information from this composition on health insurance as we though that unnecessary information may make the reader bored of reading the composition.

Universal health care has a lot of questions that probably will have to be answered before it will be universally accepted. Getting major health care providers on board is really the only way that it will work in America. I guess only time will tell if Universal health Care is what all Americans really want. Why Taking Care of Mommy is so important

Sarah Veda 2006-01-19
Title: Why Taking Care of Mommy is so important
It’s a novel concept, isn’t it; somebody taking care of you? Well, that somebody ultimately has to be you, and I know how it is, you’re way too busy taking care of everybody else to give yourself any time. But, let me tell you why you have to take care of yourself, and give you some ideas as to how to do accomplish this monumental feat.

You’re the Mom – and if you’re out of commission, everybody suffers If you can’t manage to take care of yourself, for yourself, then take care of yourself for everybody else! A well-rested, happy Mom is much more likely to have happy, thriving children. If you’re tired, or you haven’t had an adult conversation in weeks, it will start to show. You’ll be grumpy to say the least; at worst you could be downright dangerous when doing something like driving a car. A frazzled Mom is no good to anyone.

How you treat yourself is how you’re teaching your children to treat you If you never let your children see that you have needs, or that you take the time to meet those needs, you’re teaching them that you are, indeed, a doormat, and should be treated as such.

Ok, so now you know you need to take care of yourself, physically and emotionally, but how do you make it happen?

Start with your calendar Put some appointments in it that will let you have some time to yourself. You choose the activities that will soothe your soul, but whatever they are, make time for them. A few hours a week devoted to something you love other than your family, will help keep you refreshed and feeling like your old self.

Ask for help You know by now that men are different, right? Well, one of the ways they are different is that they don’t mind telling their partner what they need. And they expect the same from us. If you need your husband to plan to watch the baby for three hours every Saturday so that you can have some time to meditate, vegetate, shop, whatever, you need to tell him. He’s not going to come up with that idea on his own, but if you tell him what you need, he’s likely to oblige.

Make friends with other women in the same boat There is no substitute for a girlfriend who understands. If you’re a stay at home mom, find some others to hang out with. It may mean some company for you and a play date for your child at the same time. If you’re a working Mom trying to juggle everything, hook up with some other working Mothers to talk things through. It works wonders to know you’re not alone. Plus, you might get some valuable ideas for handling some of the issues you face.

As the Mom, you’re really the heart of your family. Your well being translates into everyone’s well being. Take the time to enjoy the whole person that you are, not just the Mom.

Sarah is a 41 year old wife and mother of two boys and one girl. She spent many years as a manager in the corporate world, and gave it up to be a stay at home mom.

Dog Health Care: What You Should Know

Joel Walsh 2005-07-18
Title: Dog Health Care: What You Should Know

Our dogs are now, more than ever, a very important part of our families. We care for them as we care for ourselves. That includes taking a greater interest in our dogs' health care. In response, there have been many advances in dog health care in recent years:

Preventative Dog Health Care

Annual checkups with routine blood test and dental care go far in catching serious dog health care problems early, increasing the dog’s duration and quality of life. Medicines targeting fleas, ticks, heartworm, and intestinal parasites prevent both the pests and the diseases they cause.

Diagnosis of Canine Health Problems

Dog health care benefits by interested owners conscientiously bringing their dogs for yearly checkups:

New and better blood, lab, and x-ray procedures aid the veterinarian in gaining valuable knowledge of what is happening to your dog. New and improved equipment like MRI machines speed up diagnosis as well.

Not only do these factors enable more effective care, but they also save you money in the long run because your pet won’t need repeated vet visits to find his problem.

Dog Health Treatment Advances

Veterinarians now do amazing things for our dogs. Here are a few of the most impressive advances in veterinary treatment for dogs:

Chemotherapy to treat cancer in dogs Pacemakers for dog heart problems Drugs that cure or control dog diseases like diabetes or epilepsy

Improved convenience

Veterinarians today generally have at least 8 years of education added to their deep love of animals.

They combine the skills of a surgeon, anesthesiologist, radiologist, dietitian and much more.

Veterinary hospitals or clinics are well-staffed and well-equipped medical centers where all breeds of dogs, as well as other animals, are treated, often in one day, for an enormous variety of conditions.

Clearly, dog health care is better today that ever before. Your dog’s veterinarian is his health advocate and your ally. Next time you visit your veterinarian, ask about new advances that might be help your dog live better.

Aurora Health Care: The Best Non-Profit Health Care

2007-08-18
Title: Aurora Health Care: The Best Non-Profit Health Care
Aurora Health Care offers a variety of services for an individual to tap into. Aurora Health Care is a health care provider with some prestige and a great reputation to live up to, and also doubles up as a one-stop shop for jobs in the healthcare sector. Aurora Health Care also offers classes and advice on all aspects of health care. In truth, it actually provides a far better level of care and information than any of its competitors do, and that can only be a positive thing!

Aurora Health Care provides a service for both registered patients and those that are no registered as well. If you do register with them then you can request emergency and same day appointments as well as simply asking for advice from time to time. However, non-registered patients have to wait for appointments, although they can still make them as and when necessary. They cannot ask for emergency service, and so should actually call an ambulance if needed.

All Of Your Health Care Needs

Aurora Health Care does not stop at simply providing appointments. It can in fact take care of all of your needs, including providing convenient pharmacies. There are many Aurora Health Care pharmacies located around the country, thus making it easier to request a prescription or a refill as and when you like. You may find one on a high street, in a clinic or hospital, or even at your local supermarket if it is big enough to include several independent stores.

Aurora Health Care may host women’s services at a clinic or pharmacy too. Obviously women have more specialist problems than men do as a result of reproduction and so Aurora Health Care has quite rightly provided a specialist service that is dedicated to the health care of women as a result. Alongside that is a specialist service for seniors too. In old age, everybody’s health will dramatically decline over a period of time. This service deals with cancer, arthritis, mental degeneration and a whole host of other ailments that a senior may need from time to time or as a part of ongoing care. For more info http://www.tophealthcarehelp.com on Health Care.

Aurora Health Care also specialises in cancer care because the care for individuals with cancer is often neglected by health insurance companies. It can be so expensive and so draining on a family’s income that it is better to invest in health insurance that does cater for that eventuality.

Of course, Aurora Health Care is not just limited to the elements set out above but they are often the tings that individuals look for in a service. It is definitely worth considering Aurora Health Care because they cater for so many needs, including any that you may have right now!
