In the past it was never possible to route calls to a 0800 / 0845 / 0870 numbers to your mobile telephone. Now you can select your number and then administer divert directly to your mobile. The only option previously was to route these calls to a UK fixed landline number and then divert your calls from that number to your mobile. The problem with this is that you need a line on rental at high price simply doing nothing other than diverting these calls.

But now situation has changed. You can divert 0800 free phone numbers easily and cheap. For example if you routinely divert incoming calls to your mobile when you leave your office then inbound calls to your landline made on your 0800 numbers will follow the divert to your mobile. Your 0800 numbers will automatically follow any diverts set up on your landline.

A 0800 numbers can divert up to 5 landline numbers which can ring sequentially if one is busy or does not answer. Ultimately, if there is no response, a voicemail message can be recorded and sent to your specified email address as a WAV file attachment that can be played in Windows Media Player. Numbers and timing are all configurable by us at your request.

With 0800 numbers you can have the following diversion options: • Diverts to Mobiles.

• Diverts to 180 countries.

• FREE virtual switchboard

• Includes full call records on web

• Voicemail notification by SMS

Nowadays you can easily divert calls to our Live Answering Service (a receptionist will answer the call on your behalf and email/sms you the message and contact details of the caller). This is an add-on service.

There is also an option for 0800 numbers to be diverted direct to mobile phones. However, if you wish to be able to "switch on and off" the divert at different times of day, you will need to use the divert function with your existing landline number (contact your telephone service provider for details on how to divert your normal incoming calls to mobiles). Please note, the connection of 0800 numbers to a UK mobile number (eg. Orange, O2, Vodafone, T-Mobile) or an international number take longer than to a standard UK landline number.

Allow an estimated 10 working days for 0800 connection to mobile / international destination numbers. Please note that T-numbers would not recommend the publishing of any numbers until they are actually live as we cannot offer a 100% guarantee on the number selected until it is actually activated due to the logistics of provisioning non geographic numbers.

0800 numbers can be even diverted to point to international landline numbers in over 180 countries. However it’s still more difficult than for 0871 and 070058 Numbers where there is no extra charge for diverting to many countries in Europe and even the United States and Canada. This makes them ideal for international organizations requiring a UK-based contact number. For 070059 numbers there is no extra charge for diverting to UK mobiles nor for diverting to up to 180 countries around the world. However, for most other types of number and other destinations, there will be an extra charge for mobile and international NGN diversions, but our rates are very reasonable, and volume discounts are available.

Keno Fun

Will Win 2007-11-16
Title: Keno Fun
Keno is a simple and popular game. It is played with a ticket that has numbers 1 to 80 printed on it. Each player can select between 1 and 15 numbers and mark those numbers on the ticket. The casino then draws 20 numbers at random. The player is paid out in proportion to his wagered amount and depending on how many numbers he had marked and how many of his marked numbers were included in the 20 numbers drawn by the casino. There is a predetermined payout table that covers the above possibilities and is revealed to the players.

Then why should one not play keno? There is one and only one reason. The payout tables have been so devised that the casino has a house cut of around 25%. This means that for every dollar wagered the casino makes 25 cents. This house cut is far greater than that for table games like roulette and blackjack, which is a few percent. It is even greater than the house cut for slots, which are notoriously referred to as one-armed bandits. Despite this keno has been popular for over 2000 years and its popularity shows no sign of abating. Why?

Keno offers players a chance of winning a huge prize by investing a miniscule amount. It does not matter to them that the huge amount is not commensurate with the risk. The big prize in keno is for marking fifteen numbers on the ticket and getting all fifteen called in the twenty numbers drawn by the casino. In most casinos one dollar bet on this would result in a prize of $40,000. The odds of catching all fifteen numbers are over 400 billion to 1. Hence for a mathematically fair game the prize should be $400 billion. But to almost everyone $1 lost is insignificant and $40,000 won is more than welcome.

Each game provides $1 worth of value even without the prize. The reasons are many. People play keno for a while to unwind from the pressures of the blackjack or poker table. Their minds refreshed after a game or two of keno they return to more serious gambling. Online gamblers play keno alongside their more serious business. They just have to mark their numbers once if they want to keep repeating the pattern. The computer checks out their numbers and credits their winnings, if any. They simply click once to replay the game. Keno is an occasion for socializing. Because the game does not involve major concentration people play it while chatting, whether online or in gaming halls. Women compare recipes while men check out baseball scores. They eat and drink and have a lot of fun. Players mark out numbers in all sorts of crazy patterns like crosses, squares and triangles. They feed in their birthdays, their ages, their house numbers and anything else they can think of. The message is loud and clear. Do not play keno for serious gambling, play it for fun. So, What Exactly Are 03 Numbers?

Andrew Regan 2007-06-04
Title: So, What Exactly Are 03 Numbers?
Recent months have seen more and more people talk about the impending release of 03 numbers across the UK telecoms network. But, such talk has led to people asking the question: what are 03 numbers?

03 Numbers are a new range of non-geographic number being introduced nationwide by telecoms industry regulator, Ofcom, during the summer of 2007. The range has been launched to provide numbers that are similar to traditional 01 or 02 landline numbers from the consumer’s perspective, whilst allowing businesses to benefit from the advantages of non-geographic numbers, such as national marketing and effective call management and customer service with intelligent ‘ad-ons’, such as call redirection and queuing. Due to its clear and concise pricing structure, Ofcom believes that the 03 range will create certainty and ensure consumer confidence. Other non-geographic numbers, such as the 0870 National Rate range have experienced ‘bad press’ recently, as callers are often unclear about how much they are paying to call them.

On their website, Ofcom explains further about the new 03 numbers:

"We are allocating the new 03 numbers to increase certainty, trust and confidence in the numbers that consumers call to public services, voluntary organisations and companies who want a national presence … consumers will pay the same amount for calls to 03 numbers as they would for calling a landline number beginning with ‘01’ or ‘02’"

Calls to 03 numbers will also be treated like calls to standard 01 and 02 numbers in respect of their inclusion in bundled minutes and whether they qualify for discount packages i.e. the cost of the call will be that of a local call if you are calling locally or a national call if you are calling nationally. 03 calls cannot exceed the rate to make a national geographic call. Many UK businesses are very excited about the introduction of 03 numbers, and most are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to choose the most memorable number they can. Meanwhile, number providers are set to launch their ranges in a month or two, once pricing decisions have been made.

At the moment there is very little information available about 03 numbers, although you can find information on the Ofcom website, as well as specialist number providers such as Windsor Telecom. So, if you’re a business who has experienced hassle with your landlines or you want to improve your customer service, then you shouldn’t ignore the release of the new 03 ‘UK Wide’ numbers. For many years UK businesses have been able to present a national presence with non-geographic numbers and have benefited from more effective call management. As such, 03 numbers are set to be the most customer friendly and talked about range for years.

Getting A Grip on Productivity - Who controls the interruptions?

Robyn Pearce 2006-09-21
Title: Getting A Grip on Productivity - Who controls the interruptions?
Have you ever come into work bright and sharp, the work at your desk beckons invitingly, you can’t wait to get started, and then the day turns to muck? One thing after another claims your attention; the rest of the world is clearly in conspiracy against your productivity, and at the end of the day you collapse into an untidy heap of exhausted humanity. Yes? Try these strategies. Turn off or divert the phone If you must have the phone answered by a real person, divert it to a pager service or another colleague while you attend to important high-concentration tasks. Schedule appointments with yourself for the big tasks There’s something about a written appointment – it gives you more power to say ‘No, I’m sorry, I can’t stop.’ Either shut the door (if you’ve got one) or make yourself unavailable in some obvious way An hour (at least) of uninterrupted time every day would transform the lives and job satisfaction of most people. E-mail Turn off your message notifier. Schedule two or three daily non-prime-time slots for e-mail. A delay of a few hours doesn’t matter - email shouldn’t be used for time-sensitive matters. If we go there first in the day we run the serious danger of being swallowed up by the addictive world of the Internet. Suddenly the day has vanished and it seems that all we’ve done is major in minor things. Skim If you’ve been out of your office for any time, skim your waiting mail quickly for peace-of-mind but then get down to the most important work. Unless it really is the most important thing, don’t let the new item steal your attention until it’s the ‘right’ time. If you’ve got an assistant or a PA, ask them to sort incoming material into priority piles so your ‘quick skim’ of familiarisation is even quicker. As with any technique, skimming has both benefit and danger. Benefit – you get to your ‘real’ work with confidence, knowing exactly what lurks and when you need to do it. Downside - if you always skim and rarely or belatedly come back to complete you’ll soon have a Leaning Tower of ‘I’ll get round to it later’ piles all over the desk. Overwhelm becomes the dominant sensation! Chunk types of activity as well as specific tasks Chunking focuses the mind. Allocate a piece of time to one task or activity only. For me, now it’s writing, soon it will be e-mails, then phone calls. Many people dart like swallows from one activity to another and then wonder why nothing ever seems to get completed. Keep focus When interruptions come in, decide whether the interruption is of higher importance than what you’re working on. If not, put it on your daily list or ‘today’ action pile and keep going with the present activity. A clear desk The space in which you work (for many that’s around your computer) is your potential interruption zone. Keep it clear of distractions. Items awaiting attention should be slightly or completely behind you, out of eye range. Otherwise, while you work the stacks of ‘stuff’ nearby wave invisible hands, shouting almost audibly ‘Pick me, pick me!’ This is a huge and invisible energy drain. The interruptions never go away, but we can control them.

The American Roulette Game

Kenny Wilson 2008-05-04
Title: The American Roulette Game
There are just so many options when it comes to placing your bets on American roulette. You can bet on red or black or odd and even. You can bet the first 12 numbers, the middle 12 numbers, or the last 12 numbers. You can also bet on the 12 numbers in the inside column, middle column, or the outside column. Both these plays pay 2 to 1. If you place your money on the intersection where four numbers meet you win if the ball lands on any of the numbers. You can also play two numbers at a time or put your money right on the ´nose.´ that's your biggest payout and will give you $35 for every dollar you bet.

In all, there are 18 black numbers and 18 red numbers for a total of 36 numbers. Half are even numbers and half are odd. There is also a green 0 and 00 that are in play, and in total that makes a total of 38 possible slots on the American Roulette wheel for the small white ball to nestle in. The American wheel has one more zero-slot than the European wheel has which raises the house edge up to 5.26%. This extra zero pocket was added to the wheel some time in the 1800's as the game spread across the countries casinos, today there are two wheel types, the American and European. The American double zero-wheel is used mostly in USA, The Caribbean and South Africa while the rest of the world uses the European wheel.

The roulette wheel is spun in one direction, and the ball is set on a path in the opposite direction. Bets can still be made at this time until the dealer announces "no more bets!" At that time the ball is really starting to bounce around and that's when it gets really exciting. Especially if you have a full table and chips are spread everywhere. It's possible to have many winners who are playing the same number.

Betting systems used on American wheels.

Red/Black System: The Red/Black roulette system is a famous system and is a type of Martingale (doubling on successive bets). In this, the bet is placed on either red or black, with winning odds of 50-50 and payout of 1 to 1.

Five Number Roulette System: In this roulette system, straight inside bets are placed and payout is 35 if you win, but odds of winning are very less and it is a bit risky. Bet is placed on any five individual numbers.

Remember Paint By Numbers

Title: Remember Paint By Numbers
Ever thought about the state of paint by numbers? Many of us have warm recollections of paint by numbers. These were those, with lines and numbers all over and each number represented a different color. As a kid we would treat paint by numbers like a game.

These colors came along with the picture put together in a package and the result was supposed to be a picture that corresponded to the picture on the box or on the back of package. You can learn more about crafts at http://www.thecraftyfinger.com. For kids, these packages ultimately reached a point where hardly any actual painting was required and just wetting the paper produced the color. Proper paint by numbers kits are available which result in watercolor pictures of wild animals, or a snowy winter afternoon.

But earlier, in the 1950’s, this was considered to be an art form. You had the option of getting tutored in paint by numbers, and many hobbyists took it up, producing amazing imitations of other’s art and having them framed so as to adorn their homes. So much so that you could make a copy of Rembrandt!

Paint by numbers was a major source of income for many people. What a wonderful way to have fun and at the same time earn! It was a very productive method for people with idle time to invest time to produce a picture even if they were not arty.

Eventually some great artists were born, while others were happy with an artifact that they enjoyed creating to adorn their houses as articles of decoration. This way they could experiment and yet be completely aware of what it would result into. The popularity of paint by numbers was so high that people chose them over works by famous artists for their homes.

Paint by numbers provided people with a channel to invest time into. And it was not a hard and fast rule to adhere to the numbers. Though paint by numbers didn’t possess any unique attribute, many artists had found a way around. They would make minor modifications to the picture, like blurring of lines or leave out a section of picture not of their interest.

Paint by numbers in many ways was a very intriguing fact and its fame mystifies many people even today. Its popularity is credited to the fact that it made a person feel like an artist – a liberated mind. Nevertheless, some rules and safety guidelines exist and they are presented as below.

0845 Numbers In - 0800 Numbers Out?

2008-03-06
Title: 0845 Numbers In - 0800 Numbers Out?
The popularity of 0845 numbers is outstripping Free Phone 0800 numbers. Recent search engine statistics for February 2008 show that online purchases of 0845 numbers outweighed 0800 numbers by a factor of 3 to 1.

In recent years 0800 has been seen to be the way to go. Business people have known that they can attract potential customers with the lure of a free phone call so why this change in trend from 0800 to 0845?

A major advantage of 0845 numbers is that they offer one fixed annual cost to business owners. This is because business owners do not pay to receive calls on their 0845 numbers. Typically you will pay a modest set up fee to purchase an 0800 number plus an annual fee and that’s it – no nasty surprises.

This isn’t the case with 0800 numbers as businesses pay typically anywhere between 3p and 6p per minute to receive calls made on their 0800 numbers as well as a set up fee and monthly rental. If call traffic is high on an 0800 number then the monthly bills for call charges can rapidly rise to an unacceptable level. This can make the cost per enquiry much too high.

0800 numbers can be open to fraudulent use by employees and their families as well as salespeople. If your employee’s wife finds out that she can ring her husband at work for free by using the company’s 0800 number there is not a great deal anyone can do about it. There is no great incentive for your employees and their families to use an 0845 number to ring up work as they realise that they have to pay for the call just as if they had dialled the landline number.

A common tactic for telesales people is to go through a Yellow Pages, BT Phone Book or Thomson directory and just dial business that display 0800 numbers in their adverts. Obviously this practice greatly reduces telesales costs but can be incredibly frustrating for businesses who continually receive telephone solicitations on their 0800 number. 0845 numbers come into their own again as telesales people would simply not make the effort to just ring 0845 numbers as they understand there is a cost element to the call.

In many ways the increased popularity of 0845 numbers is a self fulfilling prophecy. The more 0845 numbers that are purchased the more they appear in adverts – the more they appear in adverts the more the public accepts and understands them. Try conducting a straw poll at your office by asking your colleagues what it costs to call 0800 numbers and 0845 numbers. Most people understand that 0845 calls cost the same as a local call so they do not represent a barrier.

Both 0800 and 0845 numbers give businesses the opportunity of a great monitoring and tracking service. The concept is simple – just put a unique number in each advert that you have and make sure that it doesn’t appear anywhere else. Look at the itemised bill you receive from your telecoms provider every month and it should list the numbers of calls your advert receives. At a glance you will be able to see how well your adverts are performing.

So, if you are considering purchasing an 0800 or 0845 number you have some decisions to make as to which one you go for. 0845 is making massive strides on 0800 number yet 0800 is a double edged sword offering free calls to your customers but being open to potential abuse.

800 Numbers – Different Types Of Routing

Jatin Chawla 2006-09-06
Title: 800 Numbers – Different Types Of Routing

Some of the available options for call routing of toll free 800 numbers are:

Time-of-Day (TOD) Routing: TOD is one of the simplest ways of routing. An example of TOD routing would be a company with two call centers, A (east coast) and B (west coast). Call center ‘A’ opens first and calls are sent to this location in the day time. However, as the time changes across the country, call are redirected to the call center ‘B’.

Day of Week (DOW) or Day of Year (DOY) Routing: Working of call centers depends on the day of the week and business practices. All call centers don’t work 24x7. They might be closed for weekends or other holidays. DOW routing handles calls that arrive on that specific day of the week. DOY routing allows for alternate routing on fixed holidays. For example: December 25th.

Area Code or Exchange Routing: A company may want their toll free traffic to route to their preferred location. If a company has a call center in east and one in west then they may want to direct calls from east to their call center in the east and so on.

Percentage Allocation Routing: Companies having multiple call centers prefer to choose this type of routing. Here, they allocate calls on percentage basis to each of their call centers. Example: A company with 5 call centers may choose to allocate 20% of all incoming traffic to each center.

All-Trunks-Busy Routing: This is again a very important routing method which handles unexpected call volumes. If a company's trunk facilities are full and can no longer handle any more incoming calls then an alternate destination is chosen and the calls are routed to that destination.

Ring No Answer Routing: Some carriers provide this unique facility where they can pull a call back into the network if not answered.

Emergency or Disaster Routing: Generally, companies setup a disaster plan to overcome both natural (floods, fires, earthquakes etc) and man-made emergencies (bomb threats). IXCs provide alternate destinations in case any such event occurs.

7 of the World’s Luckiest (and Unluckiest) Numbers

Mailcucan 2006-12-15
Title: 7 of the World’s Luckiest (and Unluckiest) Numbers

From the first day that man began to study numbers and their significance in every day life, some numbers have been assigned certain characteristics. Some numbers have been thought to be lucky, while others are considered unlucky. And it’s not just Western culture that has done this.

Cultures in Japan, China, India and Africa have done the exact same thing, but for different reasons. Let’s take a look at some commonly known lucky and unlucky numbers to see why some numbers are cursed and some are loved.

· 7 – Everyone knows that 7 is lucky. But why? The root of most lucky numbers can be found in religion. God, for instance, is said to have created the world in 7 days. There are also several references to seven in other places in the bible, like the length of festivals and the arrangement of the Sabbath. Seven also comes up repeatedly in ancient history. Until the 1800’s, there were seven known planets in the solar system, mathematician Pythagoreans considered seven to be the perfect number and as any craps player can tell you, seven is the most desirable role on the dice. In most major instances, seven is a lucky number from culture to culture. Seven is even the usual number of spots on a ladybug. Lady bugs are considered good luck in their own right.

· 4 – This number is bad luck in the far east. The pronunciation of the number four in Japanese is very similar to the word death, and because of this, four has been considered bad luck in Japan, Korea and China. It is considered very bad luck to give a gift that is made up of four pieces to someone. Many buildings in heavily Asian areas do not have a fourth floor, much like the way North American cultures treat the number 13. In Western culture, four isn’t necessarily considered lucky or unlucky, however, there are a few unlucky fours. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse from the Christian bible, and most swear words are called “four letter words.”

· 666 – Six hundred and sixty-six is an interesting number. It is both extremely bad luck in Western culture but very good luck in many Asian cultures. As everyone knows, according to the Christian bible, 666 is the number of the beast and is synonymous with Satan. 666 might actually be the most avoided number in Western culture, followed closely by the number 13. But in cultures in Asia, the pronunciation of 666 sounds very much like the phrase, “things going smoothly,” and it is considered to be very lucky. Many shopkeepers will place a sign or plaque with 666 written or carved on it in their window as a good luck charm. The same goes for the front door of a home or apartment. In Western culture, 666 has appeared millions of times, almost universally in a bad connotation.

· 13 – The hysteria surrounding unlucky 13 in Western culture has become so commonplace that an actual sickness called triskaidekaphobia; the fear of the number 13. You would be hard pressed to find a building with a 13th floor in North America. The origin of this superstition is mainly unknown. In the famous painting of Jesus at the Last Supper, the 13th person at the table, reading left to right, was Judas, who betrayed Jesus. Others believe it is because of the tie-in with 13 and the lunar cycle. 13 is the exact number of full moons in a calendar year, and since people have thought that the moon controls emotion and makes people a bit crazy, then 13 is bad luck. In many Persian cultures, 13 is unlucky as well, showing that this superstition crosses cultural borders. And of course, Friday the 13th is considered very bad luck. It originates from the massacre of the Knight’s Templar on that date in 1307.

· 2 – In many Asian cultures, two is good luck. It is thought that good things come in pairs, which is a phrase that even appears in Western culture. It is used often in advertising or on menus in restaurants by saying that a product is doubly effective or it will bring double happiness. In Cantonese, the number two is pronounced much like the word easy, hence it is considered good luck there, as well. There is an emphasis on the number two in Western culture, as well, but not relating to luck.

· 8 – Maybe no culture in the world is more fascinated with lucky numbers than the Chinese. In many far eastern cultures, 8 is considered a lucky number to the point of obsession. A recent news article reported that the phone number 8888-8888 was sold for over $200,000 in China recently because it was thought that it would bring luck. In Cantonese, the pronunciation of the number eight is similar to the phrase “good luck.”
