Although credit for the invention of the telephone remains in doubt and open to much debate and discussion, there is no such doubt over the impact and progress seen from this mode of telecommunications. Inventors including Alexander Graham Bell, Elisha Gray, Johann Phillip Reis and Antonio Meucci all laid claim to having invented the very first telephone. The late 20th and early 21st century has seen an incredible rise in the popularity of mobile telecommunication devices such as mobile phones or cell phones. Several countries including the United Kingdom now have more mobile phones in circulation than people. The early history of these mobile telephones can be traced back to the 1940s although the real strides in development and design of these phone began in the 1980s and mushroomed in the 1990s. successful mobile telephone manufacturers include Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung and Motorola. Further advances in technology have led to component parts of telephones becoming smaller and smaller and therefore the telephones themselves becoming smaller, more compact and easier to carry. There is much competition between the companies who manufacture these telephones to provide smaller phones packed with new tahcnology. Another major step in the development of mobile phones is the advent of 3rd Generation phones (or 3G to abbreviate). Due to these advances, it will soon be possible for everyone mobile phone owner to make use of satellite navigation devices. Also readily available in most mobile phones is the ability to access the internet. The technology used for this is called Wireless Application Protocol or WAP. It allows mobile phone owners to access the internet remotely and nowadays most sites are built to be WAP compatible in order to capture a piece of this market. The latest and most recent advancement in telecommunications technology is that of the creation of Voice Over IP. Known as VOIP, this technology allows voice communication over the internet. One obvious advantage of this are that most people can use this technology very easily. Many VOIP providers such as Voipstunt provide the services outlined above for free. For example, you may credit your account with a small amount and then receive free calls to any landline around the world. This in time, as marketing increases and reputation grows will provide a stiff challenge to the traditional telecommunications companies. It is already possible to reduce call costs to zero leaving only the land line element of a bill to pay. In short, the telecommunications industry is huge and very dynamic. The rapidly expanding market relies on technological advances to make communications cheaper, more mobile and easier to use, and the internet will play a huge role in the future of this industry.

Title: Electronic document management (EDM) - steps towards better workflow
|
|
Electronic mail has revolutionised business communication, while computerisation in general has defined a new era in the management of information. With the electronic mail revolution and with computerisation in general, business communications have undergone massive changes in recent years. Traditional corporate communication methods such as mail, couriers, faxes, and even telephones have been downgraded in terms of importance for day-to-day business communications. But with the changes have come some fresh challenges. Two in particular are at the top of the list of headaches for most organisations. Firstly, the problem of email overload, and how to file and allocate all the attached documentation which accrues. And secondly, the continuing need to manage electronic documents thus generated, and the more tradition paper-based documents which are still part of the business workflow. Workflow problems: an example To solve the first problem, many software systems have been developed for email management. However, these do not necessarily solve the second problem, and at the same time, they miss the opportunity to attack both issues with one overall software solution. Consider this example situation. An invoice arrives in the regular mail and is filed by the bought ledger department. At the same time, a confirmation email arrives to the purchase initiator stating that the invoice has been sent. This gets copied to the accounts department via internal network. The accounts department can respond to this to acknowledge receipt, but crucially this is not electronically linked to the details of the invoice. Thus later, if a query arises, an email management system will be able to retrieve the email, but the invoice will take more hunting through other files. Thus time and money is unnecessarily wasted on searching for related information stored in different ways and formats. Electronic Document Management solutions For many businesses the solution is to be found in using electronic document management (EDM). EDM is a high-level storage system which collects, indexes and stores information in all forms - including email of course - and which consequently can be easily searched and audited by every staff member to whom it is relevant. An integrated, organised electronic document management system ensures a business is storing and protecting the important information and knowledge that make up the intellectual and intangible assets of the company. Additionally and crucially, it ensures a company meets its legal requirements for the storing and retrieving information which in some cases is a need that goes on for many years. Things to look for in an EDM system The best advice to begin with, is to ensure the EDM system can manage all types of document, not only email. This would include paper documents and well as electronic formats, for example faxes diary records and written reports. Also, of course, video and audio formats are often part of a company's knowledge base, and should be included. The system should also be able to allow editing and modification (password protected) of documents from within the system. Originators of documents might be using their own particular front-end application, but where the document produced is shared, it should be editable via the EDM. The system should allow access to records according to a managed set of rules and guidelines to be set up in the EDM system, with a corresponding audit trail to ensure security and accountability at all times. How does EDM work? They work by scanning documents into a system where they are automatically indexed and filed electronically, so documents can then be instantly recalled by searching on key words. The systems can work in tandem existing software such as accountancy packages and contact databases, so that output from several different systems may be electronically filed within the one overall meta-system. How to choose an electronic document management system One of the first things to look for is an electronic document management system that is very easy to use. It should be easy to install across a network, and be up and running within days. Pay attention to the user interface - the best systems have invested hugely in these, to ensure that staff will require minimal training to use the system. Remote access to documents should also be explored - finding documents while on the move should be straightforward. Finally - the benefits The main benefits to an EDM installation are improved productivity, better teamwork and work relations. Staff will become used to sharing knowledge and documents to the benefit of all. Less paper in the office makes environmental sense, with no space-consuming hard copies to find room for. In short, all data becomes instantly available at the touch of a button, offering peace of mind that company procedures can be followed in detail, and response to regulatory checks can be actioned the moment they are required.

Title: The advancing tech of cordless telephones
|
|
A cordless telephone is a portable telephone with a wireless handset. Unlike a standard, landline telephone, a cordless telephone needs household electricity to power the base station. The cordless telephone communicates with a base station connected to a fixed telephone landline via radio waves. This telephone can only be operated close to (usually approximately 100 meters) its base station, such as in and around the house. The cordless telephone is powered by a battery, which is recharged by the base station when the handset is not in use. As for cordless telephone technology, most of its standards, like PHS (Personal Handy Phone System) or DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications), have blended the once clear-cut line between cordless and mobile telephones by supporting cell handover, various advanced features like data transfer and even, to a certain degree, international roaming. Base stations are maintained by a commercial mobile network operator and users subscribe to the service in these deployment models. In the U. S., seven frequency bands have been allocated by the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) for uses that include cordless telephones. However, practically all telephones in the U.S. use the 900 MHZ, 2.4 GHz or 5.8 GHz bands. The popular DECT telephone uses the 1.9 GHz from Europe. Although communication companies usually advertise that higher frequency systems will improve audio quality and range, the reality of cordless telephone technology is that higher frequencies actually have worse propagation in the ideal case and path loss, the mechanization undergone by an electromagnetic wave in transit from a transmitter to a receiver in a telecommunication system. Signal strength, antenna quality and the method of modulation used are other factors that determine quality and range in cordless telephone technology. Most manufacturers claim a range of about 100ft for their 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz systems. Unfortunately, inexpensive models fall short of this claim. Nevertheless, there are a few advantages of moving into higher frequency. The 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz band are increasingly being used for a host of other devices including baby monitor, microwave oven, Bluetooth, wireless LAN. It is likely that the cordless telephone will suffer interference from signals broadcast by those devices. Cordless telephone technology may be advanced, but it’s not without its flaws.

Title: Telephones – It''s the Way We Connect – Always!
|
|
Tring... tring....!!!
There would be hardly anyone who would not be familiar with this sweet sound. If you can spend only 2 seconds, from your busy schedule, and gave it a thought, you can find the sound of telephones quite melodious. It is one of those sounds we grew up with, it is one of those first sounds which attracted our attention when we were infants.
Telephones are inseparable from our life and their importance could not be stressed more. They may not be absolutely essential for our existence, but they are something that make our life complete. Now mobile phones and smart phones have grabbed away much of our attention, more functions and functionalities are added each time to make them irresistible to the customers; but how can we forget how important the telephone was when we had to talk to someone far away?
When we had to enquire about the well being of a relative, when we had to tell people we are coming over, when it was sharing the pains that worldly affairs had caused us, or when it was whispering sweet nothings to the beloved, the telephones have always stood by our side, each and every time we wanted to talk.
Even today, the telephones have not lost their importance in our lives. We see fancy looking telephones with admirable features replacing the outdated phones in homes as well as offices. At homes they help us keep up to the latest style and lifestyle. And at offices, the various features help us do more, much more than just making and receiving calls.
Telephones have evolved. Now a days, telephones are very stylish and come with various options as well as features. They help us in reducing much of the unnecessary activities yet retain the charm and charisma of our very old telephones.

You’ve probably seen commercials on TV for Vonage, a popular Voice Over IP provider. But what exactly is this new phenomenon and how can it make your life easier? While the days of buying a phone card at your local 7-11 are nearly gone, long distance phone calls are necessary. The Internet has connected the entire world, so why not make talking on the telephone to someone on a different continent just as easy?
This is where Voice Over IP Providers come in handy. Not only do they use Internet technology to their advantage, they’re as commonplace as cable TV in the United States. All you need is a broadband Internet connection instead of dial-up. The FCC offers a comprehensive summary of new VOIP technology you may be interested in taking a look at.
These are the basics you need to know about VOIP:
• VOIP converts your voice into a digital signal sent over the Internet.
• If you’re calling someone without VOIP, the service converts your signal into a normal signal compatible with their phone.
• Some VOIP services charge for calls outside your area, so make sure to check terms of service and the fine-print on your application.
• Some VOIP services offer flat rates, making it easier to call long-distance lines without a worry.
• You may be able to make Internet phone calls in wireless-heavy locations like Barnes and Noble or college campuses.
• Some VOIP services allow you to use your traditional phone, while some allow you to speak into a microphone over the Internet.
For people who aren’t familiar with this growing technological trend, a great source we found is 6StarReviews.com, who decided to compare Voice Over IP Providers. Vonage currently has over 2 million subscribers and is growing everyday.
Forget buying a calling card or spending 5 cents a minute to call grandma. VOIP’s are clearly leading the way in digital communication trends and will surely revolutionize the way you connect.

Title: Talking Times With Telephones
|
|
Imagine a world without any telephones, mobile phones or any kind of phones. Tough? You bet it is. With ages of regular usage of telephones, now we possibly can not function without this device. Just imagine, how will you tell your friends that you wish to fix up an appointment with them. How will you update your boss or colleagues with the latest in professional front? How will you know if your near and dear ones living in a different corner of the world are doing well? And how will you enjoy a good night's sleep without hearing your sweetheart's love filled voice?
Yes, over the years, our repeated and regular usage of telephones has led to the situation that now telephones are connected to every aspect of our life. Whether it is personal use or for professional purposes, for social interaction or for updating information, we have, more often than not, taken the help of telephones. And now we are so used to this device, that even if one day we have any kind of problem with the device or the connection, we want it to get fixed as soon as possible.
With more and more technological advancement every day, we are now much ahead of thinking about the telephones. Our focus has shifted and it is furthered on things much ahead. But still telephone dominates a considerable part of life. In homes and offices, in regular uses, we still find phones enjoying special importance. Even telephones have evolved over time. Now the boring Plain Jane phones are increasingly replaced with stylish and cool devices that are much more than just phones. In one device you get a wide variety of features like phone book, memory, time check, alarm clock, and many more applications. Plus the modern day telephones also look great with steel finish and cute shapes.
In other words, the phone has evolved yet it remains as important in our life as it was since time immemorial.

Title: Telephones Today – Vision of Yesterday
|
|
If you have thought that the cellular phone industry has seized the much adulated customer attention from home phones and telephones, then think again. Despite the proliferating mobile phone industry and wide use of cellular phones, the use of telephones and their demand is increasing at a steady pace and unflinchingly.
One of the reasons, to which we can credit this growth of telephones and its usage, is the constant evolution of the device. Telephones are no longer mere devices for dialling the desired numbers or answering calls. Telephones today, are much more than that. In one device, you can find your personal directory, call recall facility, one touch speed dial, time check and many more such applications of customer convenience.
The applications and features differ with different devices and models of telephones. As obvious, high end models have more features than the low ended ones. But each phone offers some special feature that helps you do more with your phone than just talk.
For example, in most of the phones, you will find the facility of speaker-phone. Although it may sound quite obvious to you, but have you wondered how helpful this feature is. Till some time back, it was just a concept, but now speaker-phone is provided in almost all the phones. Speaker- phone in your telephone empowers you to speak without engaging your hand. You can continue doing what you were with both your hands and do not have to free any of them to hold the receiver. The microphone embedded in your phone, enables the process to carry your message to the other end of the communication and the loud-speaker gives you the message back... loud and clear.
Much of human endeavour is unfalteringly dedicated towards human convenience and technological advancement. The invention and continuous evolution of the telephone is a classic example of this.

Title: Telephones – Illuminate Life Yet Again
|
|
As a baby, the sound of telephones ringing would set you gadding around frantically. As a teenager, it was your lifeline. And now even if your mobile phone enjoys your companionship the most, you simply can not discard the importance of the telephone in your life, in your home and in your office. Just like the umbilical cord connects two lives, the corded telephone also connects several lives in a snap of fingers. It gives a state of permanency, a feeling of stability with its steadfastness to our homes as well as office.
But telephones have undergone several changes both aesthetically as well as with the features they offer. Now the old fashioned telephones just give a sweet feeling of antiquity and cosily gives a retro look to beautify a corner of our homes. The modern day phone are a lot smarter and more appealing with their shiny look and feel and the plethora of features that they offer. Caller ID, Alarm clock, calender, call recall facilities, memory book, long range coverage – just to name some.
Another important landmark in the evolution of telephones is cordless phones. Enhancing mobility of the user, this phone has been well received by people not just in UK but around the world. It provides high flexibility to the talker as it is not always possible to stay tied up in the cords of the fixed telephones. This is particularly proven to be helpful in households and small firms.
Modern day telephones and cordless phones are easily available with leading stores in UK. You can however purchase them while sitting in the comfort of your home, simply by going online. There are quite a few good web stores that provide quality telephones and cordless phones that are manufactured by leading brands.
A good brand – high definition telephone is a pleasure to keep in homes, smart for office setup and functions and also a brilliant gift idea.
