Crying became a normal event in baby's life. The first thing a baby does when coming out the womb is to cry. By doing so, the baby takes in air into his or her lungs. If the baby does not cry, stroking or pinching slightly the buttock make him or her cry. From here onwards, crying will be a daily routine and sometimes can upset parents and other family members. Babies cannot tell their needs or trouble they are having. The only way to show is by crying, feet kicking, hand waving and head turning. But the best way to get attentions is still crying. Crying usually can be sooth by carrying the baby, feeding and gentle rocking. But if the baby continues to cry excessively, the baby is showing signs of distress and maybe life threatening reasons, and should be taken seriously. The most common reasons baby cries is hunger. A hungrybaby will cry to get milk. The second most common is wetting. When the baby wets, he feels discomfort and therefore cry so that someone can help clean and make him dry again. Baby also cries when they feel lonely and need some company. They need to be hug and touched at all time, to be kept warm. Baby if dressed up in tight clothes will irritate him and end up crying. Always dress the baby in airy and non skin irritating material. Babies also cry when they feel tired and uncomfortable in the surrounding. Extreme heat or cold make babies restless. A room with proper ventilation is conducive for babies. Some babies are afraid or dark rooms. Strong lighting is also not suitable for babies. If everything is intact with the baby's room but the child still cries, check for mosquitoes. Babies are easy target for mosquitoes. A child may cry due to health reasons. When his nasal is block and he can't breathe easily, he needs some attention. Other health factors are such as phlegm in throat, general aching, fever, nappy rash, food allergic and teething. Earache is common in wet climate. The infections may spread from throat. Earache becomes worse at night and the baby become restless.

Title: Creating Unique Nicknames out of Baby Names
Parents usually invest time and effort in finding the perfect name for their babies. It is common that once a name is given to a baby, an appropriate nickname also follows. While there are a lot of uncommon and unique names for babies, the idea of combining two names for a baby is also common. Sometimes, one of these two names or the initials of the two names become the nickname. Nicknames are given to shorten a name or a manner used to eliminate the formality in addressing a person. Babies are given nicknames to call them in an affectionate or more personal manner. Babies tend to have cute and fun nicknames. Depending on what is their real name, parents can always come up with something cute and affectionate to call their babies aside from their given names. Some common baby nicknames that parents use to call their baby girls include Lily for Lilibeth, Jessie for Jessica, Annie for Annette, Lizzie for Elizabeth and Ella for Michaella and for baby boys, Bernie for Bernard, Mickey for Michael and Willy for William. Some parents with babies that have name combinations use the initials to come up with a nickname for their babies. Examples of these are; MJ for Mary Jane, JR for John Robert and RJ for Ronald Allen. Coming up with a nice nickname to call your baby sometimes require a little creativity and a lot of affection for the baby. Some nicknames just come spontaneously like calling a baby girl Little Missy or a baby boy Little Mister for that sense. Some parents or even relatives and friends come up with their own nicknames for the baby thus creating a wide variety of nicknames. It is even surprising to know sometimes that a baby is called differently by different people despite of having a given name by his parents. This is how nicknames are, they are informal, spontaneous and more often than not, just elements of fun and affection. They are different adaptations of a person’s real name. Giving your baby an appropriate nickname lessens the chances of people naming your baby any other way. Nicknames are sometimes used to make fun of a certain name or person. Parents should be careful in giving their babies nicknames as this may connote something else to other people. In creating baby nicknames, the integrity of the baby’s real name should be preserved. Most parents wish that their baby would grow up without crying. But remember that without crying your baby will not be able to communicate anything with you. Accept the fact that crying is a way of developing the baby language. Especially, in the first six months, babies cry to communicate their needs. As a parent, you cannot always tell, but many mothers in due course will be able to recognize their baby's needs from the type of cry. The most common reason for babies to cry is hunger. But there are many more common reasons for them to cry too. If your baby cries after a feed, do not jump to the conclusion that the feed was inadequate; instead look for probable reasons other than hunger. Babies cry to express their needs as they cannot communicate otherwise. Given below are the various reasons for which a child/baby cries. As a parent it is important to comprehend the baby language i.e. the reason of cry. Some common reasons are: Hunger: In the early part of their lives, babies may need to be fed at short intervals, sometimes in even less than two hours. Frequent feeding will help and over time your baby will space out his/her feeds. Thirst: Usually not seen in breast-fed babies, but can happen to bottle fed babies, more so in summer. Diaper-change: If the diapers are left on too long, it can cause painful and uncomfortable rashes. Frequent changing of diapers can prevent these troubles. Too hot, too cold: Since babies are unable to change their clothes or uncover themselves on their own, they will cry to let you know that they are uncomfortable. The proper way is to feel your baby's body. If it feels cool, add a blanket. If he/she is sweaty or hot, remove a layer of clothing. Uncomfortable clothes or positioning: Check to see if there is anything poking your baby like a price tag or a piece of Velcro. Change his/her clothes or give him/her some time being naked or swaddled in a warm blanket. Also, change his/her position of sleep. If he/she is lying on the back put him/her on his/her back. Bowel movements: Some babies will cry, scream and get pink in the face just before passing urine or bowel movement. Once they are done they will be okay. Anxiety and fear: Sudden movements and loud noises can trigger crying. Be gentle with your baby. Boredom: Babies who are bored cry to get your attention. Picking up your baby and interacting with him/her can put a quick end to the crying spell. Tiredness: Babies always don't know that they need to sleep when they're tired. It's your job to calm them down for naptime, not stimulate them. Sometimes you and your baby can get into a crying cycle. When babies cry, you get anxious and start panicking. Your baby senses this, feels uncomfortable and cries even more. If you find yourself getting into these cycles, talk to your doctor. A sick baby will cry, but will also have other symptoms of illness like runny nose, fever, tugging the ear or diarrhea. Generally a healthy baby will have a strong, loud cry. If your baby's cry becomes weak, contact your doctor right away. Crying is almost synonymous to baby language. A child primarily expresses it's emotions by crying, making sounds, laughing etc. In the initial stages, it is no cakewalk for a parent to comprehend their child's needs. But with passage of time, the message is communicated effectively and it is an important step in bonding between a parent and child. Title: Babies And Dreaming
Understanding how we dream and why we dream is vital to proper dream interpretation and analysis, and one of the most fascinating areas of dreaming involves the study of babies and young children. Scientists have known for some time now that babies, and all other human beings, dream every night. Many studies have even suggested that babies begin dreaming before they are born. What these babies dream about, of course, is still a mystery, but a recent study has shown that babies spent considerably more of their sleep time engaged in dream sleep. In the study, babies were found to spend approximately two thirds of their sleep time in the REM state, compared to an average of 15% to 20% for most adults. In trying to understand the importance of dream sleep to young babies, scientists have theorized that REM sleep plays an important role in the development of the baby’s brain. One reason for this theory is that babies born prematurely have been seen to spend an even greater percentage of their sleep in the REM state than full term babies. Premature babies can spend up to 80% of their sleep time in the REM state. As babies become older, and the brain matures, the amount of time spent in dream sleep begins to decrease. By the time the average baby is one year old, the percentage of sleep time spent in the REM sleep has dropped to 35%. This finding is thought to suggest that REM sleep is important to the baby’s mental development. It is known that adults deprived of REM sleep suffer from a variety of psychological problems, so it makes sense that REM sleep and mental development are connected. As a matter of fact, many scientists and dream researchers believe that dreaming is a way that the mind is exercised and provided with much needed stimulation. Therefore, babies, who do not get as much stimulation as older people, need more stimulation thorugh the dream state. As babies get older and begin to experience more stimulation from the real world, they need less stimulation and mental exercise from the dream world. Knowing that babies dream is certainly important to parents, just as understanding that young children often suffer from nightmares is important for parents to be able to soothe and comfort the fears experienced by their sons and daughters. Dream research has revealed that babies can have bad dreams and nightmares as well as positive dreams. Therefore, when the baby wakes up crying in the middle of the night, it may be the result of a bad dream and not gas, hunger of the need for a diaper change. In most cases, comforting the child will help he or she to fall asleep. As children get older, it is easier for parents to at least understand the nightmares they may suffer from. Nightmares usually begin to occur by the time the child is three years old, and they most often continue until the child reaches the age of six or seven. These types of nightmares often take the form of a fear of monsters in the closet, under the bed or in other hidden places. No one knows for sure why we dream, but the fact that young children, and even babies, spend much of their lives in dream sleep is proof of the universal nature of dreaming and the importance of dream interpretation. Title: Spitting Up - and Other Joys of Motherhood
If you have a newborn, he or she is going to spit up. Some babies do it more than others, but they all do it. There are several reasons why, and some things you can do to minimize spitting up. Newborns spit up more than older babies, in part because their esophagus is not mature yet, and in part because they tend to have a lot of mucous to clear, and when they clear it, the milk comes up, too. Most babies stop spitting up entirely by the time they are six months old, but there are those who continue until about one year old. Other reasons that babies spit up are too much air in their stomachs, or simply eating a little too much. These are problems you can minimize with a little attention. First, don’t feed your baby when he’s crying, as he is taking in air with all those sobs. Calm him first and then continue. If your baby is taking a bottle, make sure you are holding the bottle so that the nipple stays full of milk, and holding the baby so that he stays partially upright. If possible, put him somewhere where he will be still for awhile right after eating. Jostling him around is likely to cause an outburst. Also, don’t try to feed your baby too much. Just because the doctor says that most newborns will take three or four ounces at a time, doesn’t mean that’s right for your baby. If your baby consistently spits up a large amount after every feeding, you might want to cut back by an ounce or so, and see what happens. Now, let me point out something important. There is a difference between spitting up and throwing up. When your baby spits up normally, it will look (and smell) like a lot, but realistically, it is probably only a teaspoon or two of milk mixed with mucous. That is normal spitting up. It’s important that you know the difference between spitting up and throwing up the whole meal. If your child starts throwing up, it’s time to call the doctor! Now, a word about your clothes. Keep a cloth diaper around at all times. When you had your baby shower, I bet people gave you some of those fancy burp rags, didn’t they? Well, they’re great for dusting furniture, but simply too narrow for your shoulder. Whenever I used them, I wound up with vomit on my shoulder nearest my neck. It was lovely. I wonder how many people thought I had switched to some new, horrible perfume. Another trick if you’re going to work. I used to put an old, extra large button front shirt on over my clothes when I got dressed on work days. I wore it until I had dropped the baby off at the sitters, and then took it off in the car. That way, if they decided to spit up on me on the way out the door, or at the sitter’s, I didn’t have to go home and change. Spitting up is relatively short lived, thank goodness. So, just take precautions, and wait it out!

Title: Facts about infant crying - the "healthy reasons"
Infant crying can be frustrating and frighteningly for parents. When you are unable to calm your baby, you forget that all babies cries, crying is the way babies communicate. An average infant cries an average 2-3 hours per day. As we all (hopefully) know, there are no such things as an average infant and parents have enough to cope with to use a stopwatch on their baby and calculate crying averages. Therefore, what are the reasons for infant crying? Let us first look at the “healthy” reasons: 1. Hunger. Hunger is the most common reason for crying. Is it more than one hour since your baby ate? Is it more than 2 hours since you breastfed your baby? Hunger might be the reason for crying. An infant eats quite frequently, especially the first weeks after birth. 2. Wet diaper. Wet diapers are uncomfortable. Change the diaper and see if it helps. 3. Need of body contact. Maybe your infant wants you to hold it. Especially the first weeks after birth body contact are very important for the child. Besides, by picking the baby up when it is crying, you give an important signal: “I care about you”. 4. Gas pain. Gas pain is common after eating. Try to get your baby to burp. A good advice is to let the baby burp several times during eating in addition to a final burp after eating. 5. Too hot or cold. Infants cry if they feel too hot or too cold. Check if your infant is too hot or too cold and remove or add more clothes. 6. Boredom. Your infant cries if it is bored. Try to play with it, change its toys, put on some music, start singing or whatever you think will stimulate your child. 7. Stress. Your infant is stressed if you are stressed. An easy solution would be: do not stress but since we live in the real world: Try to stimulate the child. 8. Fussy environment. The best example of fuzzy environment is family gatherings where everybody wants to talk to the infant and everybody is talking at the same time. Hey, I want to scream at most family gatherings. Big changes in daily routines might also give the same symptoms. Solution: carry your infant ion your arms. I know: theory, theory… It is easy to get frustrated when your arms gets tired and you are unable to perform any other tasks than carry the baby. The eight reasons listed above will very often result in eight different sound of crying. You will make your life much easier if you take the time to learn the differences. Other ways to calm down your baby are: give your baby a massage, give your baby a bath, rock your baby, play some calming music, let your baby listen to white noise… You can read more about this on our website. In my next article, I will discuss the “unhealthy reason” for infant crying, until then: hang on out there... Sincerely, F.P. Larson http://www.calm-your-screaming-baby.com About The Author: F.P. Title: Some Reasons Why Babies Cry
Introduction: Crying is a normal event in the lives of all babies. When a baby comes out of the woomb the first thing to do is crying. By the first cry he will take some air in to the lungs for the first time in their life. After delivery if the baby doesnot cry then it should be initiated by slightly pinching or gently strocking the feet. From this it is clear that the healthy baby should cry and it is a normal physiological event ,still some times it can upset the mother or family members. We all know that a baby can't tell his needs or troubles in words. The only way for him to communicate with others is by crying.Babies show some other signs like feet kicking, hand waving and head turning ect.But the best way to take the attention of others is by crying. Excessive crying may not have a firm definition because the crying habit changes from baby to baby and some babies can be calmed easily but some are difficult to sooth. If crying is distressing for the mother and home nurse it can be called excessive. Many a times baby become quiet by giving breast milk or by carrying with a gentle rocking.Sudden onset of excessive crying means baby is distressed and needs attention. The causes of crying extends from simple reasons to life threatening conditions.Hence crying of a baby should not be ignored. Most of the time it is difficult to find the cause of the cry. Common causes are discussed here for awareness. Common reasons for crying: 1. Hunger:-- A hungry baby will cry till he gets the milk. Here the old saying comes true'crying baby gets the milk'. 2. Wetting:-- Urination and defecation causes some discomfort and results in crying till his parts are cleaned and made dry . 3. Company:-- Majority of the kids need somebody near. If they feel lonely they cry. When their favourite doll slips away from the grip they cry for help. 4. Tired:-- When the baby is tired after a journey and unable to sleep just cry simply. They feel tired in uncomfortable sourroundings and due to unhealthy climate. 5. Heat - Cold:-- If they feel too hot or too cold they become restless and cry. Child is comfortable in a room with good ventilation. 6. Tight Clothes:-- Tight cloaths especially during warm climate is intolerable for kids.Tight elastic of the the dress can also produce soreness in the hip region. 7. Dark room:-- When the baby wakes up from sleep he needs some dim light. If there is darkness he will disturb the sleep of parents by crying.Ofcourse he will be irritated by strong light resulting in cry. 8. Mosquito:-- Yes, these creatures disturb the sleep by their blood sucking and makes the baby cry. 9. Nasal blockage:-- Child may not be able to sleep when they have a cold and go on crying till the passage is open. 10. Phlegm in throat:-- This also causes difficult breathing resulting in cry.Often a typical sound can be heard with each breath. 11. General aching:-- Generalised body ache with restlessness is seen in flu and prodromal stages of some infectious diseases can result in continuous cry. 12. Habitual Crying:---Some babies cry without any real cause ending the parents in agony. Many a times doctor is called for help. 13. Nappy rash:-- If a tight and wet nappy is kept for a long time results in this conditon. Rash can also be due to some allergic reaction to the elastic material of the nappy. When the rash appears it causes soreness and baby become sleepless and cry. All other skin lesions like eczema, ecthyma ,candidiasis ect also causes same problems. 14. Ear Ache:-- Ear infection is common in wet climate. The infection may spread from the throat. Ear infection can result in rupture of ear drum causing discharge of pus. Ear ache usually becomes worse at night when lying down. Child will become restless with cry and may not allow you to touch the ear. Some children with earache rub the affected ear frequently. 15. Colic:-- When the baby cry continuously most of us diagnose it as colic. This roblem is still a topic for debate because exact cause for colic is not known and diagnosis is also difficult to confirm.Colic may be associated with rumbling and distention of abdomen.Child often feels better when lying on abdomen. Some children may not allow you to touch the abdomen. If the child cries continuously doctors help is needed. 16. Infections:-- All infections causes some kind of pain or irritation resulting in cry.Infection may be anywhere in the body.Usually it is associated with fever, redness and swelling. 17. Reactions to certain food:-- It is said that one man's food is another man's poison. Some food articles can produce some allergic reactions. Allergy is manifested in the form of redness, breathlessness, gastric symptons and continuous cry. 18. Hard stools:-- Constipated babies with hard stools may cry when they get the urge for stool. Some children hesitate to pass stool because of pain . 19. Gastro esophagial reflex:-- Here baby cries with spilling of food after feeding. If this continues it may be due to gastroesophageal reflex. This is due to failure of the lower part of esophagus to close after food causing regurgitation from the stomach. It is difficult to diagnose this condition and can be confirmed by giving antireflex medicines. 20. Dentition:-- During dentition child becomes restless with crying. Often associated with gastric troubles and diarrhoea. Some rare reasons ----------------- 1. Bowel obstruction:-- Bowel obstruction is associated with severe pain and vomiting.Abdomen is distended with rumbling sound.Baby is constipated with absence of flatus. 2. Septicemia:-- Invasion of pathogenic micro organisms in to the blood is called septicemia.Fever is associated with this condition. 3. Torsion of testes in male kids:-- When a male baby cries continuously his scrotum should be examined.Torsion of the testes produce severe pain which will be worse by touching the affected testes. When the testes is pressed upwards pain is releived. If this is not treated properly it can damage the affected testes due to lack of blood supply. 4. Meningitis:-- Initially there may not be fever, hence crying baby with alternate vacant stare and irritability should not be ignored. Fontanel is bulging. Neck rigidity and seizures may appear later. 5. Retention of urine:-- Children with retention of urine will have agonising pain making them restless. 7. Major injuries:-- Major injury to any parts of the body causes pain.Occasionally children will fall while arrying and results in head injury. Head injury is associated with reflex vomiting and convulsions.

Title: The Halo Sleep Sack for Babies: 5 Reasons Why Every Newborn Should Have One
Relatives and friends who have older babies (or grown children) always come across at least one item on a baby gift registry that makes them take pause. The latest breakthrough, whatever it is, leaves them scratching their heads, saying, "Why couldn't they have made this when my baby was little?" The object of much wonderment today is the Halo sleep sack for babies. This "newfangled" gadget is gaining a lot of praise in some serious circles for a host of good reasons. It's a favorite among parents and the source of a little "how come" envy from family members and friends who had to get by without all the perks it delivers. So, what is this Halo sleep sack and how does it work? The Halo sleep sack is nothing more than an ingeniously altered baby blanket. Rather than a blanket that goes over her while she rests, the Halo sleep sack for baby is actually worn. Almost like a pillowcase or a form-fitting sleeping bag, this makeshift blanket is enclosed at the feet, but offers a comfortable opening for baby's arms and head. The buzz about the Halo sack is incredibly high. This is especially so as more and more doctors and government agencies warn about the dangers of loose fitting bedding in newborns' rooms. With endorsements from some major parenting and prevention organizations, including the SIDS Alliance, the Halo sack makes a wonderful gift for friends and family to pick up for new little ones. If baby is yours, these also make great "peace of mind" presents for you to pick up for your own sanity, too. The benefits of the Halo sleep sack include: * Eliminates the need for any loose blankets in baby's crib. This is one of the top concerns for new parents. We all want our babies to be warm and comfortable enough, but the horror stories about blankets make that route a bad choice. The Halo sleep sack solves the problem. * Reduces the risk of rebreathing. This happens when baby breathes back in carbon dioxide that's been exhaled. This particular phenomenon is thought to be responsible for a number of crib deaths. The sleep sack doesn't allow blankets or baby sleep wear to bunch up around a baby's face, which can create an ideal condition for rebreathing to occur. * Increased chance of a good night's sleep. A lot of parents report their babies sleep better using a Halo sleep sack. Since these covers cannot come off, baby's temperature is better maintained throughout slumber. * Material choice. The 100 percent cotton, micro-fleece materials used in the sleep sack are designed for optimum breathing and also to meet flame-resistant standards set for by the United States government. * Restricted movement. The design of the sleep sack makes it a little more difficult for baby to roll over. This is a particularly good thing for babies that are too young and underdeveloped to roll over and then roll back again. The Halo sleep sack offers a "wow factor" for parents whose children have passed the infant stage by months or even years. This product delivers a peace of mind that can help babies - and their parents - breathe easier at night.

Title: Babies, Babies, Babies: Dealing with Multiple Births
If one baby is a blessing, then how about two, three, four, or even eight! Multiple births are becoming more common place these days than ever before. If you are faced with carrying more than one life, start planning now how you plan to care for your children when they arrive into this world! Fertility treatments have resulted in multiple births fast becoming common. The mechanism behind these treatments is such that at times more than one sperm inseminates a single egg. Although, in usual cases, the result is the formation of one zygote that eventually becomes a fetus, in certain cases this method also results in the formation of several zygotes. Once the zygote starts developing into fetuses, the doctors can easily identify that the pregnancy is going to be abnormal. At times mothers carrying the multiples face very difficult situations of having to take a decision of aborting one or more zygotes in order to ensure the survival of the others. It happens in very rare cases that the multiples are carried to term, with the chances decreasing with a higher number of babies. In such cases the mother is often asked to abort a specific number of zygotes to make sure that the rest of the babies are healthy. Though the decision of abortion is a difficult one, it should be looked in the perspective that it is meant for the best interest of the children. When faced with this decision, speak with a number of doctors, as well as clergy and other individuals that have experienced your situation. Once you have made a decision, stand behind it fully and either opt to have the procedure or to take the risk. The choice is yours and your alone to make. You should not feel guilty or compelled to have or not to have the procedure by your doctor. Once the babies are developing, the mother will usually have to go on bed rest at some time during the pregnancy. Again, multiples are rarely carried to term, so doctors attempt to stop labor as long as possible. You may need to take care of any necessary business before you doctor limits your activity level and confines you to bed. Make preparations for the arrival of the babies. Set up a nursery and ask friends or family members for any pieces of furniture or other baby items that are necessary in a nursery. If you have to buy these items, check out the local thrift stores or yard sales. You might find these things at a reasonable cost. Since you will require more than one, your budget may not allow expensive purchase. After the babies arrive, you may wish to have help from friends or family members. Recovery from pregnancy and birth often takes a great deal out of a mother, who is often unable to handle running a household and caring for all the children by herself. In possible, allow both parents to take time off work for a while in order to begin caring for the children. At some point, one or both parents will have to go back to work, so arrangements should be made for the proper child care. More babies translate not only into additional joy but it also means a greater task to handle. Therefore, it is better to do some careful planning in advance before your bundle of joy comes into the world.

More often than not, a crying baby can drive parents and caregivers crazy, especially if the baby cries persistently. However, you need to know that crying is a common event in the lives of all babies. When a baby comes out of the womb the first thing to do is crying.

It's hard to define whether crying is excessive, as the crying behavior varies from baby to baby. Some babies can be calmed easily but some are difficult to sooth.
Many a times the baby calms down by giving breast milk or by carrying with a gentle rocking. Sudden onset of excessive crying means the baby is distressed and needs attention.
