Collective unconscious is a term of analytical psychology originally coined by Carl Jung. While Freud did not distinguish between an "individual psychology" and a "collective psychology", Jung distinguished the collective unconscious from the personal unconscious particular to each human being. But, what about the collective consciousness?

While I embrace the Jungian concept of a collective unconsciousnes (God, Spirit, Being), I feel that much of what the 2012 concept is about is a rising and comprehension of the all important collective consciousness that is truly needed to tip the scales from self-destruction and self absorption to a unification of the beings on this planet to save our very existence.

Sound too mysterious or climatic? It's what's needed to save the planet!

We must begin asking more and more questions and quit buying into whatever pablum is being fed to us. Milk will no longer serve us as it has in the past. And as the writer of the book of Hebrews said, we need to start being able to chew and digest some meat. Questions are meat! Eugene Ionesco put it this way, "It is not the ANSWER that enlightens, but the QUESTION." Unfortunately we've been taught to not question.

One of the fascianting traits of all mammals is their curiosity- the exact thing that our societal leaders (especially religious ones) try to keep us from. An age of enlightenment is on the way. A far greater one than we've ever experienced.

Mankind only advances through compassionate and loving antithesis. Synthesis is incest!

From the questions will come new realities which will demand action, which will force us into some modes of courage wew'll not readily embrace. Thich Nhat Hanh wrote, "Mindfulness must be engaged. Once there is seeing, there must be acting. Otherwise, what is the use of seeing."

There is coming a new species: homo sapien sapien sapiens. And the whole universe groans our coming into being as the writer (Paul) of the book of Romans has reminded us. A collective consciousness is on the way and it's coming at such a fast pace, many are not seeing, let alone acting.

The New Planetary Consciousness

Mashubi Rochell 2007-11-17
Title: The New Planetary Consciousness
The momentum towards a new planetary consciousness has clearly begun in 2007. The many events that have transpired both for individuals, and for humanity as a whole this year, have left a mark of truth imprinted upon the collective consciousness. It is now clear to all who have eyes to see, that our individual actions as well as our collective actions are needed in order to avert the current planetary crises.

Humanity's consciousness is beginning to transform, and you may be experiencing shifts in your own awareness as well. These individual and planetary movements forward are happening at an accelerated rate, and you may find yourself at times feeling overwhelmed by the new sensations, experiences and changes that are occurring. At the same time, you may also be feeling an upsurge of old emotional, physical or mental patterns from the past that may have appeared seemingly out of nowhere, causing great distress and discomfort.

These difficulties are the result of greater spiritual light which has been infusing the Earth and accelerating her development. The light acts in two distinct ways, opening and revealing the presence of God's love and illuminating our innate divine connection with Spirit ... and also by bringing to the surface our inner pain and illuminating the parts of us that have become separated from God's love.

This action of God's light creates healing, but in the process of this healing, there can be much pain and suffering that is brought to the surface of consciousness. We are seeing this on a planetary scale as well as an individual one. The many ways that humanity has become separated from love and goodness are being revealed, in sometimes shocking and traumatic ways.

Throughout this process, God's love continues to be present, and is beginning to awaken individuals to their divine spiritual purpose. Many individuals now are moving in the direction of finding solutions to the many crises the Earth faces.

"How can I make a difference" you may ask. It might seem that you as one individual can have little effect on the larger course of humanity's evolution, but this is not true. Each single soul that awakens to a larger understanding of the sacredness of life, and who understands the effect that their consciousness, thoughts and actions have on the environment, creates a center of God's light within themselves.

This divine center of light begins to infuse your physical body, your living space, the Earth that you live upon, and your neighbors and those in your community. The light also has an impact on those that you love who are not nearby, but that you hold in your consciousness and communicate with from a distance. The light acts to bless, heal and support others. Like ripples in a pond, the light radiates out and interacts with others whose centers of light begin to expand from the contact with light.

As more and more ripples flow outward from the centers of light, they become intertwined, interconnected, and begin to resonate at a more conscious frequency. Soon even those who are not conscious of the light begin to be affected by it, and their lives begin to transform. The Earth herself benefits greatly from this expansion of consciousness, which helps her own divine spiritual evolution.

And so dearest ones, what appears to be a small, humble choice on your part to follow a spiritual life, to seek harmony, peace and goodness, and to help in whatever way you can to make the world a better place ... this choice has a massive impact on you, your loved ones, your community and your world.

Each soul is created with a divine spiritual blueprint. and unique gifts which are given both to further the expansion of the soul and to bless other. Seek this divine blueprint within your own being, and follow your hearts call which will lead you to the fulfillment of your highest purpose.

This sacred process is not simply for your own healing, but for the healing of all. Your consciousness is one with the larger collective consciousness of the Earth and all embodied beings. Seek to follow your own inner guidance and in doing so, you will bless all of life.

What is Consciousness?

Tina Montalto 2007-10-10
Title: What is Consciousness?
I have been taught that everything is Consciousness; that life is consciousness. The concept of consciousness is integral to New Thought philosophies and Science of Mind teachings. So let's explore this idea of consciousness and what it is.

Ernest Holmes, the creator of The Science of Mind and the founder of Religious Science defines Consciousness this way: "Mental Awareness. Consciousness is both objective and subjective. Objective consciousness is a state of conscious awareness, equipped with will, decision, and discrimination. Its reasoning is both inductive and deductive, therefore it has self-choice. The subjective consciousness is entirely a reaction to this objective volition. It is creative but not discriminative. It is of course conscious but it is not self-conscious. . . . It has no reflective, deductive, or discriminating factors. It is compelled by its very nature to accept and create. When we speak of mind in its self-conscious state, we mean Spirit, whether we think of it in God or man. When we speak of consciousness in a subjective state, we refer to the mental medium, the Universal Subjectivity, which is also the subjectivity of man."

The objective consciousness Ernest Holmes speaks of is the masculine principle. It is thinking and thought. It is the self-awareness that has moved man from the animal kingdom to the human kingdom. It is our awareness of self and the world. Consciousness is our whole mental atmosphere. Do you have a general mental atmosphere of prosperity or lack? Do you have a general mental atmosphere of health or sickness? Do you have a general mental atmosphere of peace or conflict? Do you have a general mental atmosphere of ease or difficulty? Consciousness can be changed. Consciousness can be cultivated. In fact, to continue on an upward progression of your spiritual growth, you must continually raise your consciousness in whatever areas are current challenges to you. One way to change your consciousness is with Spiritual Mind Treatment.

We can have a mental atmosphere of our own choosing. Wouldn't you rather have a general mental atmosphere of happiness instead of sorrow? A mental atmosphere of prosperity rather than of struggle and lack?

Objective consciousness changes subjective consciousness. That is how Spiritual Mind Treatment works, and that is how consciousness creates from the unseen to the seen.

Subjective consciousness is the female principle. It is feeling and belief. It is the creative medium that accepts what the objective consciousness puts into it. It also perpetuates what has already been subjectified.

Life is consciousness because it is creativeness. Life is always about creating. To create, both the masculine and the feminine is needed. Life is ruled by cause and effect. Cause is objective and subjective consciousness. The creative process is objective thought, subjectified in belief, leading to a physical effect.

Although gifted with self-choice, the power to decide, and the ability to observe and to reason, many of us still live quite unconsciously. This means we don't use our power to choose; we don't use our power of volition. Living unconsciously is just going along, letting old beliefs, old ways of thinking, race thought and others' views of life do the creating in our lives for us. Living unconsciously is letting the subconscious perpetuate what is already in it -- which is race thought and race thought's beliefs in evil, sickness, poverty, war, famine, disasters etc.

I'll let the great Emmet Fox expound: "We have the key to life; and that key is that life is a state of consciousness. The explanation of all of your problems, the explanation of your difficulties, and the explanation of your triumphs in life boil down to this: Life is a state of consciousness. That is the beginning and the end. That is the final step in metaphysics. All the other steps lead up to that. . . . You are and you have and you do in accordance with your consciousness. . . . There are other ways of looking at life which are superficially correct, but ultimately the final truth is that your life is a state of consciousness. Your so-called physical body is the embodiment of a part of your consciousness. Your home is the embodiment of another part of your consciousness. The kind of work you are doing -- whether you are in work which you love or work which you hate -- is the expression of your consciousness. The kind of people you attract into your life are the expressions of your consciousness about your fellow human beings. . . . People are trying to change outer conditions but leaving their consciousness unchanged, and it cannot be done."

Consciousness creates. Whether that is an aware consciousness (objective) or an unaware consciousness (subjective). Everything created has its cause in consciousness. We see the effects, but effects never create more effects. Everything ultimately leads back to a state of consciousness.

Peace, The Balm To Soothe Troubled Lives And Times

2007-11-29
Title: Peace, The Balm To Soothe Troubled Lives And Times
In his masterpiece, "Man's Search for Meaning," Viktor Frankl writes, "Every age has its own collective neurosis and every age needs its own psychotherapy to cope with it." There is a collective neurosis in our world today, it is the cry for peace emanating from individuals, groups, communities and nations, impacting the mass consciousness.

The cries and marches for peace, power and freedom that marked recent decades, present a backdrop for today's human conditions of stress, anxiety, insecurity and turmoil. There are as many civil wars and wars between nations. From the individual perspective, the cry for peace is heralded as respite from the turbulence of today's hectic lifestyle. In the past four to five decades we have lived in such a way as to create challenging situations in our lives and create even more havoc as we try to solve the resulting problems.

There is a popular bumper sticker that states, "Peace begins within," and a hymn that is sung in thousands of churches world-wide on Sundays, "Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me." Yes, peace begins within the heart and mind of every person. Until we reignite the flame of peace, love and unity there can be no lasting peace in individuals, among people and nations of the world.

Frankl, who lived a life shaped by war, states that, "Man is questioned by life and he can only answer to life by answering to his own life, to life he can only respond by being responsible." The question of whether or not we have lived responsibly in recent decades, has spawned national and international debates. With the widely reported impending consequences of global warming, catastrophes of war and economic collapses, the outlook is bleak. These impact the human condition as they are fed in large daily doses at breakfast, dinner and all throughout the day. Conditions of fear, stress, anger, frustration, rage, insecurity and strife are the results.

For individuals to have lasting peace they must live their lives from the inside out. This idea might send off alarm bells with shouts of hogwash. Well, let us see how real this is and how easily it can be accomplished. "Be in the world but not of the world," was prescribed by one of the great enlightened spiritual minds, eons ago. Is this possible you may ask, I dare to say it is.

To the degree that we become caught up in the dictates and excesses of the outside world, is the extent to which we will experience chaos and turbulence and lack inner peace.

I had first hand experience of this two decades ago. For a while I worked as a journalist and it is a well known fact that the profession is demanding and can be stressful. My publisher and editor was an excess living, driven workaholic, who was always in conflicts, off deadlines and antagonistic to life and everyone in it. He would often ask me how I remained so calm and in control, "Nothing seems to bother you," he would state. My response was always the same, "Be in the world but not of the world." He was fascinated by the idea and wanted to know how I accomplish that. He had no knowledge of spiritual matters and showed no interest in learning. He later became an appendage who watched, studied and leaned on me for answers and solutions. Years later he became feeble, sick and broken.

Stress is a natural response to the excesses that overwhelm our physical and emotional capabilities and life. The real or reality of us lies within us. Strength, courage, peace and power all emanate from within. Our minds that create the thoughts that become things are within us. The learned and great apostle Paul admonishes us not to conform to the world but to be transformed by the renewing of our mind, that we may prove what is the good, acceptable and perfect will of God. He knew over zealousness, rejection, defeat and triumph, but through renewal of his mind, he left us a legacy in spiritual transformation.

When we conform to the world we allow the dictates of the world and its appearances to control our lives. The real of man is spiritual and divine, not the ego driven personality that responds to the whims and fancies of every Tom, Dick and Harry. Stress and conflict occur when the inner spiritual self and its outer personality self are in opposing viewpoints.

Frankl theorizes that mans search for meaning is a primary force in his life which is unique and specific in that it must and can be fulfilled by him alone. Our greatness as human beings lies in our ability to change our minds and the conditions of our lives. What is so great about living in a free, democratic country is that it affords us the privilege of freedom to be all we want to be. Individually we must desire freedom and make the choice for freedom as we live our life. The great author and self help guru, Stuart Wilde, teaches that we should "Concentrate on ourselves and leave the world alone. As we strengthen ourselves we save all of humanity, because we are all linked to one another."

We must desire a change from the stress and turbulent lifestyle we live today. We must dare to rise up, declare, pursue and claim peace for ourselves. This will impact the lives of family and friends and spread out to our communities and our world. The pursuit of peace is perhaps the most followed path to spiritual enlightenment. A peaceful disposition calms the rough and tossed seas of turbulence, strife, fear and discontent.

The book, "Anchor in the spirit as God Beings - More than Mere Human," is presented as an easy to follow guidebook for spiritual transformation. It clearly sets out the conditions that support transformation and offers major tools that will help achieve it. The aim is a changed consciousness by acknowledging the need for change and practicing and living a lifestyle that foster peace, confidence, love and compassion within ourselves. This we then radiate out to touch the lives of others and transform our world. Individually transformed lives will create a mass consciousness of peace and there will be peace on earth, beginning with every one of us.

What better time than the upcoming holy season and the new year, to reignite the flame of peace, love and unity within the hearts and minds of persons and radiate it person to person to blanket our world. It begins with one person, one step at a time, let your new year commitment be to take that first step.

What''s All The Fuss About ''The Secret''?

2007-10-20
Title: What''s All The Fuss About ''The Secret''?
Here's a definite sign that something has made it into the collective consciousness:

Oprah features it on her show.

If you're at all inclined in this way, you've probably already seen 'The Secret'.

Here are my thoughts on this:

I love 'The Secret'. It's absolutely phenomenal. I wholly recommend it if you haven't seen it yet. It may just have an impact on your life.

I believe completely in 'The Law of Attraction' and know that it is at work in my life and the lives of my students, my family, and everyone who has the inclination to pay attention to this.

What is the Law of Attraction?

Whatever you concentrate on, is what is drawn to you. If you focus on your lack of money and fret about your debt, you will get more 'need'.

However, if you concentrate on 'attracting' money, you become a money magnet. You attract more affluence.

This isn't just about money, but about absolutely everything in your life. Health and wellness, love, relationships, sex. . . as well as business, converting prospects to clients. . .

Of course, there are naysayers--people, who in an attempt to make a name for themselves--have decided to tear down 'The Secret'.

What does this have to do with persuasion? And why would someone want to trash it?

The Secret is certainly in the news and many people will use things in the news to piggyback. In fact, I love to use the piggybacking strategy myself when I get a chance. And I guess you have to take a stand one way or another on things, so this group of people chose to take a negative stand.

If you're like me, you probably don't agree with everything you hear from any source.

The next question I have is, do you agree with everything you've heard about 'The Secret'? I, for one, do not.

But let's not throw the baby away with the bathwater. Just because there are a few things I don't believe in, doesn't mean there's not a whole lot of value to be gained. It's like taking the position. . . "Well, money can be used in a negative way so I don't want to have anything to do with money."

If a person objects to positive mental thinking, positive mental attitudes, and the sage advice that has shaped our nation and most all of the successful people in the world today that have followed along the footsteps of great thinkers of our time, then I guess someone could genuinely be upset with 'The Secret'.

But what in particular did 'The Secret's' detractors pick on? One thing is that 'The Secret' talks about our own personal responsibility and says that, "We all choose our own reality. Even the people of Darfur consciously chose their plight in life."

And to that, the people who were criticizing 'The Secret' responded, "That's nonsense. 'The Secret' is a cult and it's saying things that are blatantly untrue." The frame the naysayers are putting on this is "cult".

I absolutely do not believe that the people of Darfur or people who suffer terribly wherever they are consciously chose to be where they are. In an attempt to entertain, 'The Secret' may have gone too far.

When you consider it, however, many millions of people believe in something along those lines.

And perhaps people who believe in reincarnation and karma would agree that we don't consciously choose our lives, but have unconsciously chosen. And like the Buddhist traditions, I believe it's possible that we're here to learn and that life is a school. Not all lessons this school has to offer are pleasant ones.

Through the perspective of reincarnation they might believe that we choose our parents, we choose the country we're going to be born in, and we choose to live the lessons that earth has to give us such that one day we don't need to come back anymore and we can evolve to a higher level.

I'm not asking you to believe in reincarnation, but can you see that with this belief as the basis for the premise of 'choosing', then it might be reasonable for 'The Secret's' makers to say something like, "The people in Africa who are starving have chose their plight in life so that they could experience these difficulties to learn how to overcome them or simply experience a life of poverty"?

I think the answer is absolutely yes. They didn't choose them consciously; they chose them before they came into this earthly experience.

Why should we tear this theory down?

I have my own beliefs and thoughts. I believe we need to be responsible. I believe we need to be careful, but to deny the value some people have derived, just to tear it down, I just can't fathom.

What in Heaven’s Name is Collective Consciousness?

Jan Engels Smith 2007-05-06
Title: What in Heaven’s Name is Collective Consciousness?
What is meant by the term "collective consciousness?" It is a collection of thoughts shared by all beings that has as its source the oneness of the universe. Other terms for collective consciousness are "mass consciousness," "collected thought forms," or "universal consciousness."

Mass consciousness grows from energy-the energy that is accumulated from every thought or word spoken by every person. We all contribute. All thoughts are energy-powerful energy-and energy attracts like energy. Love attracts love; fear attracts fear. Remember that whatever you add energy to multiplies-it does not add, it multiplies. It multiplies because it grows not only from your own energy, but also from the contribution of what other people are thinking. This collection of thoughts creates a "collective consciousness." Every thought contributes to this pool, actually creating an energy form, which is otherwise known as a "thought form." The thought form is real-people who are attuned to and can see energy fields usually describe it as a cloudlike formation, varying in color and sometimes accompanied by a sound or smell.

A visual analogy of the creation of thought forms and their attraction of like forms is found in outer space. Have you ever seen pictures of astronauts in space trying to eat or drink? Because of the lack of gravity, liquids are covered so they do not float out of their containers. Imagine there are two astronauts trying to drink two juices-one grape and the other orange. They knock into one another, spilling their juices into the empty space of the cockpit. Since there is no gravity, the splash of juices separate into individual droplets and float around the cockpit. As the individual droplets float, they begin to merge with other droplets. Eventually a mass of juice floats in the cockpit, a puddle suspended in space. Amazingly, all of the grape juice droplets merge together and all of the orange juice droplets merge together, each attracted to their like and creating two complete puddles of juice. This is a visual representation of the law of attraction, the process by which energy is attracted to like energy.

Every thought you think or word you speak is like those individual droplets of juice. All float into space and go somewhere. The word and thought energies connect with similar thoughts and words. This collection of thought and word energy grows and grows as it is fed by more individuals' thoughts and words. This energy manifests and creates a reality of some sort. There are positive and negative realities created in this process. Fear, worry, hatred, greed, and dishonesty all create incredibly negative thought forms, with many people continually feeding them and contributing to their manifestation. We have examples of negative realities all over our planet. Let me share some examples that may coincide with your own experiences and give you a more tangible connection with the concept of collective consciousness. Take a moment to think about some of the cities you have visited. Cities usually have a distinctive feel to them. You may have felt energized, nervous, scared, or enveloped in the history of a particular city you have visited. I remember a client of mine saying, "I do not know what happened to me. I was driving on the highway in Los Angeles and I found myself honking my horn and flipping people off. That is just not like me. I have never acted like that before. It is totally against my principles." What happened? The collective consciousness lingering around that highway affected her. The accumulation of negative energy generated in that area by continual driving irritation, frustration, and rudeness entered her own consciousness, and she responded in a like manner.

Places hold collective consciousness in them. When you walk into buildings, they each have a "feel," especially the old ones. I was nearly brought to my knees when I walked into the Sistine Chapel in Italy. The magnificence of that place was truly overwhelming. I was only 22 years old, with absolutely no wisdom concerning spiritual matters, and had not entered looking for or expecting spiritual energy. Yet when I walked in, my knees started to buckle and I got goose bumps all over my entire body. I was awestruck. Millions of people had walked into that chapel before me and shared their awe, their prayers, and their love of God. The energy of those feelings lingers and grows. I had a very different experience when I visited the concentration camps in Germany. I cried uncontrollably. The terror, sadness, and depth of despair still linger there; it was a horrific experience. Although these are examples of two extremes in accumulated energies, they describe the phenomenon. All places have an energy to them-even your home or the individual rooms of your home. Become aware of what the energy of places feels like. As you tune in to these feelings and understand them in terms of energy, you enhance your work with energy.

Thought forms can control behavior and influence thinking because, knowingly or unknowingly, individuals tap into a collective consciousness, which actually exists. Even though you may not be able to see it, it is there. Remember, we are made of energy and are affected by the energy around us. Ideas, concepts, experiences, events, issues, cultures, and spiritual doctrines all have prevailing thought forms connected to them, which may represent hundreds of years of accumulated energy.

Thought forms follow the laws of energy. When you look at all-encompassing attitudes such as hatred, you can understand how massive some thought forms are and why they seem so impossible to heal. However, since all thought forms follow the laws of energy, it is entirely possible to change general attitudes and realities based in hatred or fear. Remember, manifestation comes about from an accumulation of energy. Thus, when you pray for global peace, visualize a healed planet, or speak of brotherly love. The energy of these actions has a powerful impact. Positive ideology and prayer adds positive energy to the collective consciousness, creating the possibility for hopeful change. The more people who add to this consciousness, the greater the likelihood for positive change.

The Field of Consciousness

Rev. Eleanor Richard 2008-04-04
Title: The Field of Consciousness

“Out beyond ideas of wrong doling and right doing there is a field.
I’ll meet you there.” Rumi

Did you know that the collective consciousness of the human race can be calibrated, both for current events and for past eras? And that it can be determined scientifically just how low or high a consciousness any individual is now, or has been in the past? Humanity lives in and is part of a vast field of intelligent energy that some call Divine Love. As with all things in existence, evolution first occurs as a movement of energy, around which a physical form is usually condensed. Gradually consciousness (awareness) emerges and continues to evolve. On an arbitrary scale of 1-1000, the level of consciousness can be calibrated for various species, animals, plants and rocks included—just about anything.

Thanks to the enormous work of Dr. David R. Hawkins and thousands of tests, we know without doubt that the body can verify truth, something that is quite impossible for the mind, or ego, since matter must respond to its local energy field. Thanks also goes to John Diamond’s work with muscle testing (Touch for Health), and others who are continually validating this spiritual science. Through clinical testing we know without doubt that bodies never lie.

The truth is a clear path to peace and integrity. If experienced without judgment, warring conflicts within the individual as well as between nations can be resolved. This is a science of truth. We can use the Map of Consciousness devised by Dr. David R. Hawkins and his multitude of researchers as a tool for self-discovery through the levels of consciousness.

Since ego controls our lives when we are not actually present in the moment of now, our thinking mind cannot tell truth from falsehood. However, our bodies can, with 100% accuracy when tested using Hawkins’ prescribed method of kinesiology, or “Touch for Health” (muscle testing.) (See Hawkins, Power vs. Force, or his other books.) This is because the physical realm must reproduce the amount of energy in the energy field in which it resides, bypassing ego’s perceptions, wants and logical interpretations. It’s that simple.

The New Planetary Consciousness
