Astral Travel
Astral Travel
Author: Margo Kirtikar Phd
Flashback to a few centuries ago and I would have been burnt at the stake had I mentioned that I have an astral body, probably burnt twice if I had revealed that I actually traveled on the astral plane, seen the future or could read someone’s thoughts. Even as recently as twenty years ago when I spoke openly about my astral senses people looked at me as if I was ‘gaga’. I remember a game I played with myself as a young child and later too as an adult, when I was with a group of people, I would perch myself up in a corner near the ceiling and watch everyone including myself interacting. I enjoyed doing that and did it naturally. I did this without giving it a second thought, not being aware that it was my astral body that was floating up there. I knew though that it as a part of myself. Earlier on until I learned otherwise, I used to believe that everyone else could do the same. Of course I did not share this experience with anyone. I had to be careful to be with the right people in the right surroundings to mention anything about my busy inner life and other dimensions of being. Today ‘astral travel’ is a buzzword spreading like wild fire over the worldwideweb. More and more people are curious and want to know about astral projection. True or not, it seems to me that every second person I meet claims to having had an ‘out of body experience’ or is an old hand at ‘astral travel.’ Some travel while meditating, others while sleeping and yet others via lucid dreaming. Many experience this phenomenon at times of crisis and have had near death experiences.
Traditional science has not yet caught up with thousands years old esoteric secret knowledge. The door to this esoteric kingdom of knowledge still remains locked to many scientific minds. But it is opening very slowly by sheer force of the masses that not only believe, but also know and sense through personal experience. More than ever before physicists and scientists are joining the spiritual onward march, mainly because they have no choice as they find themselves at a cul-de-sac and have no where else to turn. More and more spiritual physicists are speaking out and because they are physicists their words have more clout. This is good news and about time too.
In this article I shall share with you all that I know about the astral plane, as a ‘baby’ occultist. First let me explain that there is nothing mystical nor sectarian about an occultist. A mystic is someone who believes in the existence of other planes of being without being curious to find out anything in detail as to the hows and whys. Most saints fall into this category. An occultist is a mystic who does not only believe but goes a step further to do extensive research and to experiment, to observe and experience with oneself. Famous occultists are for example, Edgar Cayce, Pythagoras, C. W. Leadbeater and Gopi Krishna. There are hundreds of other famous occultists both in the eastern and the western worlds and perhaps thousands scattered all over the world, who are not famous at all. All these people know of and are in constant touch with other dimensions of existence.
Here’s what I found as I surfed the internet on astral travel.
‘Amazing Scientific Breakthrough will allow you to have a successful Astral projection within 20 minutes! Learn how to leave your body, walk through walls, fly around your neighborhood, meet your deceased loved ones, communicate with your guides and teachers, travel through time to witness past or future events and much much more! 100% guaranteed or your money back!’
Now who can say No to such a fascinating invitation!
Unfortunately, many dabble today in a mystical world oblivious of the fact that there is some danger when one is ignorant of the details and the hazards involved when entering other dimensions. I hope to shed some light on this for you in this article and to raise your curiosity so that you will continue to research, to read more writings and studies about astral travel and to understand as much as you possibly can, before you venture out to send your astral body to explore unknown worlds.
The oldest and the latest occult teachings inform the student that there are seven planes of being. The lowest is what we know as the material plane; the second is the plane of forces; the third is the astral plane and the fourth is what we know as the mental plane. Above these four planes are three more planes but we will not be touching these at this time since we want to concentrate on the astral plane. For information only, you should know though that each of these seven planes have seven sub-planes each, and each of the sub-planes have seven sub-divisions, and this goes on to the seventh degree of each of the sub-divisions. I will leave you to figure out the mathematics of that one.
These planes are not composed of matter nor are they series of straight layers. The planes are graded according to their respective degrees of vibration of energy, matter being the lowest degree of vibrations of energy and these planes interpenetrate each other in the same point of space. ‘A plane of being is not a place but a state of being’ as one ancient teacher put it. Every student of physics knows that a single point of space may contain vibrations of heat, light of many shades, magnetism, electricity, etc. each manifesting its own rate of vibration and not interfering with the others. Every beam of sunlight contains many different colors, each with its own rate of vibration, and yet not crowding out the others. Prana or ‘vital force’ is found on the plane of forces.
In occult teachings there are frequent references to the astral regions and the inhabitants and phenomena of these regions. The astral regions are vibrational manifestations on the astral plane that occupy the same space as the material regions, neither one interfering with the other. The word ‘astral’ is derived from the Greek word meaning ‘related to a star’ and was originally used when describing the heavens of the Greek, the abode of the Gods. From this sense the term widened to be used to indicate ‘ghost-land’ to ancient people. They believed that disembodied spirits and angelic beings of a higher order inhabited this ghost-land. The oriental occultists had their own terms derived from old Sanskrit roots, which were much older than the Greek terms, but as these terms confused western occult students, they settled to using the Greek terms. In ancient times they were familiar with the astral and other dimensions of life. This knowledge was lost somewhere along the line as humans advanced becoming more material bound arriving to our century.
There are two avenues of approaching the astral plane. One is by employing the astral senses; the other is by visiting with the astral body. Each of the physical senses of man has its astral counterpart, which functions on the astral plane just as the physical senses do upon the material plane. Thus every human being has, the power of seeing, hearing, feeling, smelling and tasting on the astral plane, by means of these five astral senses. In addition to these five some humans have developed two more senses and these likewise have their counterparts on the astral level. Basically everyone can be trained to develop these astral senses.
One can with training develop astral vision, which is perception through astral sight. There is a documented case of a blind woman who is being operated on. After the operation when she woke up, she was able to describe the operation room, she could describe in detail each of the doctors and nurses, what they were wearing and even their features and the color of their eyes. She could tell them exactly which doctor operated on her and how many were assisting, she could even repeat the conversations they had while operating although she was anaesthetized. To the doctors this was a mystery but to the occultist it was no mystery at all. She had obviously seen and heard everything with her astral sight and hearing. Although her physical eyes were impaired, her astral vision was not. She had obviously detached her astral body from her physical body and was floating around in the operating room watching everything going on.
The ordinary clairvoyant has flashes of this astral vision, as a rule but not through an act of will. The trained occultist, however, is able to shift from one set of senses to the other, whenever he wishes to do so. With training an occultist can function at will on both planes at the same time. A clairvoyant has no need to go into a trance nor to leave the physical body to experience the astral plane all she needs to do is shift her perspective.
The other way is to travel to the astral plane. In this case the individual leaves his physical body to travel on the astral plane in his astral body. The astral body is composed of an ethereal substance of a very high degree of vibration. It is not matter and yet it is not force but in between. The astral body is an exact counterpart of the physical body but survives the latter by a number of years but it is not immortal and finally disintegrates just like the physical body. The advanced occultist is able to leave the physical body that remains in a state of sleep or trance, and to visit at will anywhere on the astral plane. The astral body, however, is connected with the physical body by a thin, cobweb like thread of ethereal substance, which extends or contracts as he travels away from or toward the physical body. If the filament is broken by an accident on the astral plane, his physical body dies and he is never able to return to it. Such accidents do occur but are rare and occult history has records showing their occasional occurrences. Stories have also been told of astral bodies getting lost on the astral plane and are unable to find their way back to their physical bodies for a long time. In the meantime, the physical body is declared dead and is buried. I will leave it to your imagination to think of what happens if and when the astral body after a long time, finally finds its way back to the physical body that has, in the meantime, been declared dead and has already been buried. The poor soul, talk about having a nightmare!
Just as steam is as real as water and ice, the astral is just as real and fixed as is the material world. To the traveler on the astral plane the scenery and everything they see seems as solid as the most solid material to the physical eye. The astral world has its geography, forms and things just as has the material world. The law of Change operates on the astral just as on the material plane. The astral has its laws just as has the material world. These laws must be learned and observed otherwise the inhabitants of the astral world as well as the visitor will have to bear the consequences. There are regions, points of space, places, kingdoms, countries etc. on the astral just as there is on the physical plane. As an example one can travel from Zurich to Bombay in a twinkle of an eye, by merely wishing to do so. If you have the knowledge and power, you can without leaving your seat, travel, traverse all the sub-planes, one after the other, witness the scenery, the inhabitants and their activities, and return to the material world, all in a moment of our time. You can also descend if you wish to the material plane and travel with your astral body to anywhere you wish on the physical level, visit far away friends and loved ones.
In traveling through the astral world, you meet with many strange inhabitants, some pleasant and others unpleasant, some have passed on from the material plane and others who are natives of the astral plane, who have never dwelt in the material world. Often astral shells and apparently real spirit forms which are nothing but semi vitalized thought forms, artificial entities, are mistaken for departed loved ones. Astral shells are astral corpses, just as the physical body in the grave is the material corpse, which the soul has left to move on to spiritual realms. Artificial entities are those formed by people who pray with a passion, example a mother prays for angels to protect her children. In such cases the angel forms actually take shape and exist on the astral level. Many family ghosts have been created and kept in being simply by the constantly repeated tale and belief in their reality. Many haunted houses are explained in this way. Repeated thought and repeated belief will serve to keep such entities alive, otherwise they would in time disappear. On certain planes of the astral world entities exist or living beings that were never human and never will be because they belong to an entirely different order of nature. Normally these entities are invisible to humans but in certain conditions can be sensed by astral vision.
On the astral plane there is no time, no distance, no hindrance, you can experience a lot in one second, you can go through walls, you can travel from one end of the world to another in an instant. You can go forwards and backwards in time and you can fly. You have experienced all of this at least once in your dreams. You can meet loved ones long gone and you can meet your guardian spirits. All of this is true. You can astral travel without having a clue or remembering passing it off as a dream or you can travel consciously. You can learn to reach that particular state of mind or in other words, a different state of consciousness in order to travel on the astral plane and keep the memory of it. All of this and much more you and I, as every one else, are able to do without a doubt. In the majority of cases, however, people are not ready for such adventures and if met with demanding situations could go mad from the shock.
It is known that very advanced souls often astral travel with their spiritual guides at night while their material bodies sleep deeply, to attend spiritual classes where they receive intensive advanced spiritual teachings. It is also said that many indigo children, who are reincarnated advanced souls, attend spiritual schools at night while their physical bodies are fast asleep. There has always been throughout the ages indigo children born but in our time today they are here in masses to help humanity to go through the great shift cycle that we are experiencing.
It is erroneous to think that astral vision suddenly dawns on anyone. In the majority of cases it is a slow gradual development. Many people possess it to a degree and fail to develop it further for want of proper instruction. Many have occasional flashes of astral vision. If you must experiment and try out any of the advertised on the web technical help to enter into astral travel, then here is one little piece of advice. When going through the astral plane, do not listen to anyone beckoning to you to join them, you could be tricked into staying there, look forward not backward, look upward not downward. It’s imperative that you have faith in your heart and that you feel no fear, fear attracts negativity. Keep in mind within your soul is a spark of the Divine Flame and this will protect you.
Could it be possible that someone can actually teach you to travel on the astral level, in twenty minutes as claimed in one of the websites on the internet, I really cannot say one way or another. Perhaps those with very high advanced consciousness can. We see miracles happening every day. On the other hand, could it just be possible that you are hypnotized into believing that you are traveling through an astral plane and told to remember whatever is said to you during the hypnosis. This could very well be possible. Once again all I can say is take heed, handle with care. The more light you have in you the less risky it is. If you are someone who is inclined to being negative and afraid then I would say stay away. Some gurus still insist it is risky and dangerous for untrained novices to travel through the astral world without an experienced guide. If you still are burning to experiment, so be it, go at your own risk. You might be itching to try this novice experience and you go ahead with it blindly and survive without a problem. It reminds me of when I first learnt to ski. When on top of the hill I just let go and skied straight downhill totally unafraid, thrilled with the speed and the wind in my face, loving every second of it. When I think about it now and how silly I was then, I know it was a miracle that I did not topple over and break both my legs. It was my total ignorance of the rules that saved me. Now that I know how to ski I’d never dream of going straight downhill so fast and if I did I would probably break all my bones. The innocence or ignorance, call it what you want, is what often saves us from calamities. The same principle works here too with astral travel, like children get away with many things that we grown ups could not do, total innocence and a fearlessness can save the day. At least now you have an idea what to expect. There is much more to know, but this is a good beginning. ?

Title: The Metaphysical View of Death and Life After Death Part 10
|
|
Astral projection is an occult art that was commonly practiced by ancient mystics. Apollonius of Tyana, Yeheshuah (Jesus Christ) and many other mystics often used the ability in their ministry and work. In centuries past and up to this very day, Wicca, or the tradition of witchcraft, teaches its adherents the secrets of astral projection. The superstition that witches rode on broomsticks to their covens actually stems upon the fact that witches were adepts in the art of astral projection and astral travelling. The art of astral projection was kept secret throughout the centuries until the inception and commencement of parapsychological research in the previous century by reputable and eminent scientists. What was once shrouded in mystery and transmitted secretly to initiates, are now being rediscovered or taught openly to the public through the mass media. This occurred because early parapsychological findings paved a way for the revelation of such arcane knowledge. People were made ready for the knowledge and power that occultism had to confer. In contemporary times, Carl Jung, the great psychoanalyst, experienced many OBEs and commented on the "absolute objectivity" of his experiences. Other famous persons who had OBEs were among others, St. Augustine, Goethe, Plato, Aristotle, Wordsworth, Alfred Tennyson, and Ernest Hemingway. Astral projection, like NDEs, is one of the ways that an individual may prove to him or herself of the truth of the survival of consciousness at the time of transition--that the self, the personal consciousness may function independently of the physical brain and organism. Death is no longer feared, and in a sense, may be said to be "eradicated" once a single astral projection is experienced and apprehended. Hypnotic-Regression of the Soul Hypnotism has come a long way since the days of Anton Mesmer and his concept of "animal magnetism." It has passed through many changes of techniques and used for various purposes such as entertainment, self-improvement and healing. Certain principles or tools of psycho-transformation such as affirmation, or "subtle suggestion" are linked to the Mesmeric tradition. In recent years hypnotherapy, or hypnotism used as a therapeutical tool, commenced a new line of probing into the depths of the human psyche. This occurred when certain individuals had spontaneous recollection of their past-lives. If hypnotism could be used to stir and dig up the memory of the present life, could it not also be used to probe deeper into the memory of the psyche to acquire information of a life lived in a past identity or incarnation? This question asked by experts in hypnosis was based on the concept of reincarnation. The underlying premise was that if reincarnation were true, the results of deeper probings into the psyche would offer clues as to its reality. In this section we will not discuss the results of such findings, suffice to say that many case studies of soul-regression into past lives were found to be plausible and later discovered through research to actually be historically-based. What we will consider briefly here are the findings of soul-regression through hypnosis--in the theta-state-pertaining to soul-memory of the transition state and the life beyond the Great Change. This field of study and investigation is just another logical step from the previous probings into past life experiences. Our main (and only) source of information concerning this subject is derived from Michael Newton. After investigating the matter for several years along the lines that we have delineated above, he published his findings in the Journey of Souls. One of his main discoveries is that not all souls are of the same spiritual age; that souls may be classified as to their soul-age or evolutionary status. This spiritual principle is actually the origin of the caste system formed in ancient India. Broadly speaking, souls of the same class or spiritual age usually conform to a certain set of experiences during transition and in their "placement" which souls of a higher class usually bypass or do not normally undergo. This corresponds to the general idea of Bardo experiences where one may liberate oneself at any stage, relinquishing the need to experience the following phases--and this usually conforms with soul age and experience. Newton discovered that there was a "homogeneity of experience" among his subjects in the transitional experience, especially when it progressed through further stages. Subjects of soul-regression declare that after the initial surprise of being alive during and after transition with its concomitant deathbed visions, a certain white light emerges and attracts their attention. This stage is often accompanied by divine music. From the point of view of Tibetan metaphysics, this white light is none other than the Clear Light of the Void manifesting in the secondary stage of Chikai. Ignorant of what is to be accomplished at this stage, some of the subjects of Newton simply passed on to another stage of the bardo where the judgment or the "tunnel effect" was experienced. Some report of having hovered over the dead body for several days because of confusion, anger or bewilderment. This usually occurs to those who were killed or murdered unexpectedly. We may equate this experience with the latter part of the Chonyid or Sidpa bardo. Almost all subjects of deathbed visions describe the "tunnel-effect" where one feels oneself travelling through a long dark tunnel to an uncertain destination represented by a point of light at the distance. This light gets closer and closer as one approaches its source. In occultism, this light is actually the light of the astral realms and should not be confused with the Clear White Light of the Bardo, which is essentially a state of illumination. The tunnel-effect is an experience of the crossing of the veil that separates the physical from the astral regions. It is a "movement" into a different dimension, a birthing into a higher world. After the tunnel effect, and while still being a little disoriented, subjects report on experiencing vibrations of love, comfort and companionship emanating from what they later discovered to be a reception committee comprising of close friends, relatives and their personal, spiritual guide. This "reception committee" Newton found, is always planned well in advance of the soul's transition by the soul's personal and spiritual guide to assist it in adjusting to new conditions. Advance souls; however, according to certain case studies, go through the white light experience and the tunnel-effect very quickly. Most of these souls often go straight to their destined realm without undergoing the preliminary stages of meeting with loved ones. Newton believes that these souls do not require the comfort and solace from other beings that young souls usually crave for. After adjusting to the vibratory condition of the astral realm, Newton's subjects marvel at the remarkable sight awaiting them, and they are usually at a loss for words. Newton comments on this: "I enjoy hearing from subjects about the first images of the spirit world. People may see fields of wildflowers, castle towers rising in the distance, or rainbows under an open sky . . ." (1995:24) And he continues: "Regardless of their state of mind right after death, my subjects are full of exclamations about discovering marvels of the spirit world. Usually, this feeling is combined with euphoria that all their worldly cares have been left behind, especially physical pain." (1995:25) After meeting beloved ones, most souls are brought to special places designed to heal past traumatic experiences. In these healing centers subjects describe themselves as being bathed in swirling light. Those who are seriously damaged in a psychological way, and who possess negative, or evil tendencies, are brought to rehabilitation centers by their guides and secluded for a period of time. After the required healing, souls are sent to the realm corresponding to their spiritual attainment. This is described in the Journey of Souls as "placement." Subjects describe riding on a beam of light, a current of energy, to their destination whether it be in the upper astral or the lower mental. In placements, souls are brought to their spiritual group comprising of individuals of a similar evolutionary status, and they normally do not wander form their group to join other associations. According to Newton's subjects, in the subtle spheres, the age of the soul manifests in a certain colour or hue in their aura; these souls of a certain evolutionary status (colour) congregate together to form their spiritual group, which is presided or directed by a higher soul functioning as guide and teacher. In these groups discussions take place concerning experiences in the newly-terminated life. The discussions that take place are not unlike the group discussions that occur in a psychotherapeutical meeting where one's attitudes, motives and feelings for a certain action are analyzed and where one's behavioral pattern or habit is rationalized by the psychotherapist, or others within the group. The spirit world, as we can see from this, is a time for evaluation, assimilation, and analysis. According to subjects, some of the activities that souls engage in are research and study in libraries or spiritual work undertaken at the direction of their spiritual guides. Similar to the teachings of the Occult Tradition, the case studies of Newton indicates an active life in the higher planes where one may study the various fine arts and sciences or express one's creativity in the art of mental creation, or alchemical precipitation. In the heavenly worlds a soul must learn how to utilize the mental and psychic faculties effectively in order to accomplish creative works. In these fraternal groups of the astral regions, plans are also made for new challenges in the physical world through incarnation. Sometimes agreements are formed between members of these group-minds to incarnate together to carry-out certain tasks or for certain experiences beneficial to soul-growth. For instance, the marriage-made-in-heaven concept is actually formed by souls in the higher worlds who are karmically connected or spiritually related. Choosing a soul-entity to be one's earth marriage partner is done out of free-will as is the choice to reincarnate--though within the bounds of karma. These chosen partners may or may not come from the same group; however, as it all depends on the lessons that the soul wishes to learn. Before incarnating, these married-couples-to-be formulate certain signs that they would have to look for or to be aware of in the circumstances of their physical plane meeting and in each other to realize the soul-agreement existing between them and that they are, in fact, "soul-mates." These signs are not usually known or remembered on the conscious level. It is triggered into conscious knowing and feeling from the subconscious mind level through the actual manifestation of those signs on the physical plane. Although gender manifests universally in the physical plane, souls are described by Newton's subjects to be androgynous and manifests in the male or female form in the astral worlds out of preference. Lacking any permanent sexual form, it is thus possible for a soul-entity to embody in the physical world as a male or a female human being. In contradistinction to "placement," some soul-entities are "displaced." Newton describes them in the following: "There are two types of displaced souls: those who do not accept the fact their physical body is dead and fight returning to the spirit world for reasons of personal anguish, and those souls who have been subverted by, or had complicity with, criminal abnormalities in a human body." (1995:45) Indeed, this is an interesting subject, we will therefore discuss this briefly. Paranormal researchers have found that some souls are not aware of their transition. This is usually the result of violent deaths where the permanent atoms are expelled from the physical form simultaneously causing consciousness, or self-awareness to be retained throughout the experience. One of the reasons that makes it so difficult for such souls to accept their condition is that they feel their astral form to be no different from the physical--that, in fact, it feels solid and very much alive. Another reason is that they are unattended and ungreeted by those on the Otherside to give comfort, solace and appropriate information. As a result, these souls become confused, frustrated and "lost." These souls are trapped in time and space and sustain their entrapment in the physical plane because of their ignorance. In spiritualism, these are called "earthbound spirits." The motion-picture "Ghost" and many others illustrate this earthbound condition. Only after certain discoveries--at times with the aid of spiritual guides--do these earthbound spirits discover their position and condition. At times the help of guides are rejected thus prolonging the soul's earthbound condition. Such souls usually bind themselves to a certain geographical location. They often seek contact with three-dimensional physical beings, thus commencing and producing a "haunting" condition. They usually live in darkness--their field of vision being murky--they are, therefore, attracted to any coloured illuminations that might appear in their vicinity. Not understanding the nature of these illuminations or lights--which are actually the aura of living beings--they tend to merge or attach themselves with it. They often find themselves trapped in people's auras. Unknowingly they may reach into such depths as to consider the physical body of their victim as their own and the original tenant as the victimizing spirit. This is technically called "possession," and causes much needless suffering to both parties involved. Possessions of this non-intentional, non-demonic variety may be exorcised effectively and morally only through helping both possessor and the possessed. In this method, the earthbound soul is given information and advice as to the nature of its plight and the way out to freedom. In this manner both sides involved in the possession are liberated. In this psychological counseling, the earthbound soul is made to realize that it belongs to another dimension; the simple awareness of this truth on the part of the invading spirit is sufficient enough to release it from its bondage and entrapment between worlds. Generally speaking, calls for help--and acceptance of such help, together with a release of desires and attachment to familiar surroundings of the earth plane on the part of the earthbound soul, gradually and automatically raises its vibration and moves it on into the astral world where it may find its placement and once again interact and relate with others of its kind. The methods for exorcising demonic possessions are a little different from the above method where the principles of psychology are used to advise the victimizer. The so-called "demons" in such possessions are most often human souls with very negative and violent propensities. Such earthbound spirits are usually attracted to others of similar temperament, idiosyncrasies, habits and desires. They often seek to satiate their own earthly desires through a human channel. These souls are often stubborn, arrogant, and malevolent. Spiritual advise given to them in any way is often ridiculed and rejected. It such cases, assuming a wrathful and authoritative attitude with a definite command directed to them often helps to extirpate these entities. There is a principle that assists in this rite of exorcism--in expelling demonic beings from their human victims that psychic researchers have discovered: these negative beings are intensely afraid of pure radiant light, especially the pure light within the aura of pure and holy persons. Aside from the natural light-radiance of holy beings, in experiments it was discovered that visualized white light was equally effective. This light is visualized by the exorcist surrounding everyone present involved in the exorcism, especially the victim. Evidently, radiant white light causes some pain to these beings with demonic natures. Such luminescence is therefore avoided by them and causes their hasty retreat. When circumstances permit, these negative souls are brought to special places in the astral realm by their spiritual guides for rehabilitation. These places may be thought of as "hell" by its inhabitants. They are not there for eternity, though. They either progress from there to purgatory or incarnate once again in the three-dimensional world. In the end, all earthbound souls must submit to their rightful placement. In should be understood that in most cases of possessions the underlying cause is not by invading entities or malicious thoughtforms but by the assertion or projection of a personality (perhaps from a past life) from the subconscious. In psychiatry this is called schizophrenia. Souls are sometimes earthbound because of their attachment to their relatives or friends. There are times when these earthbound souls contact earthlings through a medium. Usually they bring an important message which they feel themselves obliged to pass on to relatives or to certain individuals. This then may be a cause of their earthbound condition, or in other cases, they seek to enlighten humanity concerning life after death. It should be noted here that not all communications through mediums are from disembodied human souls. Some of the communicating beings are in fact elemental spirits, elementary beings, astral shells or even the medium's own subconscious mind--all mischievously deceiving ignorant humans. But nevertheless, sifting the information derived from communicating spirits through mediums, from the reliable to the questionable, psychic researcher Ernesto Bozzano states the following principles as affirmed by spiritualistic communicators (cf "Life, Death & Consciousness"): "1) That all of them found themselves in human form in the spiritual world. "2) That for some time, or even for a long period of time, they did not realize they were dead. "3) That during the pre-death crisis, or even a little after, they passed through the trial of summarily recalling all the events of their existence (`panoramic vision' or `epilogue of death'). "4) That in the spiritual world they were welcomed by the spirits of their relatives and friends. "5) That nearly all of them passed through a more or less lengthy phase of reparatory sleep. "6) That they nearly eventually found themselves in a radiant and marvelous spiritual environment (in the case of morally normal deceased), or in a shadowy and oppressive environment (in the case of morally depraved deceased). "7) That they had found the spiritual environment to be a new world that was objective, substantial and real, a spiritualized version of the earthly environment. During the separation of the astral from the physical body, it first assumes a cloudy nature which slowly assumes the shape of a physical body. "8) That they had learnt that this was due to the fact that thought was a creative force in the spiritual world and thus enabled a spirit living in the astral plane to reproduce around himself the environment of his memories. "9) That it had not taken them long to learn that thought transmission was the language of spirits, even though newly arrived spirits delude themselves that they converse by means of words. "10) That they had found that the faculty of spiritual vision enabled them to perceive objects simultaneously on all sides, just as they could see inside them and through them. "11) That they had discovered that spirits could instantaneously take themselves from one place to another--even when they were very far apart--by virtue of an act of will; nevertheless, they could walk in the spiritual environment or float a short distance above the ground. "12) That they had learned that the spirits of the deceased will fatally and automatically gravitate to the spiritual sphere to which they belong, this by virtue of the 'law of affinity.'"(1991:88) Copyright © 2006 Luxamore Leonard Lee aka Luxamore Metaphysical teacher, counseler, healer and merchant of occult/magickal items of Indonesia. Title: The Astral Body & After Death Experience
|
|
The astral light can be referred to as the memory of God. Since light is substance, then astral light must have qualities and conditions. It can be compared to a great photo gallery with a lens that is able to take pictures. These astral images are similar to the ‘negatives we receive back from the camera store. The astral light is known as ethereal substance by science. It is an invisible region that surrounds the earth and can be seen by those few who can see auras and have advanced intuition. After death, the breath of the physical body ceases, and the image body slowly adjusts itself to the region of the astral light. The astral body may initially be greeted by friends, loved ones and familiar circumstances, however, this phase will pass rather quickly as the consciousness of soul wants to move forward onto higher realms of existence. Thus, the soul will separate itself from its astral vehicle and shed its astral skin to free itself from the confines of heavy matter. So, the astral ‘shell’ is left behind to disintegrate as a remnant of the former personality. It only contains the reminiscences and old tape recordings of the life just lived and cannot learn or assimilate any new ideas. The astral shell can be seen by only a rare few, and some shells can materialize if the leftover energy from their lifetime hasn’t dissipated due to anger, greed, fear selfishness or hatred. In other words, the shell can remain in the astral region for an amount of time equivalent to the amount of negative energy it harbored during its lifetime. Certainly the shell does not wander in the astral region with the persistent, intelligent conscious purpose of communicating this fact. The nature of its consciousness is nothing more than a reflected light. After crossing through the astral region, the soul passes through a subjective realm of "heavenly bliss". In this dream-like state, the soul will have the most beautiful dream imaginable, and all the hopes and expectations of the former lifetime will come true. During the soul’s dream, all the unhappiness and disappointments of the prior life will no longer exist, and all the people who the personality had loved, will all be there. Now, doesn’t that sound just heavenly? ## Robert Waxman is a writer, speaker and educator on the subjects of Esoteric Philosophy and Universal Truth. Title: Astral Travel And Ticketless Travel - Do You Need Travel Insurance?
|
|
It won't be long before we can travel closer to the stars, thanks to Sir Richard Branson and his Virgin Galactic spaceships. However, astral travel or astral projection is a different matter entirely. You don't have to pony up the £100,000 or so astronomical price for a space flight with Virgin Galactic if you merely want to do a bit of astral travelling. Some people believe we are all capable of astral travel - leaving our bodies during sleep or meditation. Now there's a great idea - sign me up! I've tried to do it but so far haven't managed to wake up on a beach in Hawaii as was planned. Oh well. Wouldn't it be nice if we never again had to deal with airport parking, lost luggage, or security chaos and hassle! No packing to worry about - you could leave your luggage (emotional or otherwise) at home. Just have a nice mug of cocoa, go to bed, and wake up in your dream destination! If you haven't been able to master the art of astral travel, out of body experiences, lucid dreaming, or time travel - then virtual travel may be the next best thing. Just log onto your computer and, like Captain Kirk on the USS Enterprise, fill in your own captain's log as you go. You can visit the exotic and interesting places you've always wanted to see - and for a fraction of the price. You could be at the Taj Mahal one minute and the Coliseum in Rome the next - and all without leaving your armchair and comfort of your own home. Ticketless travel is becoming the new way to do things, as computers take over from the old labour-intensive paper ticketing - but you're still stuck with all the downsides of travel. With virtual travel, you don't have to worry about minor annoyances like getting your seat assignment or boarding pass, getting stuck in the screaming-baby section, or queuing for the only toilet that isn't bunged up. Scientists may one day succeed with the perfect recipe that will enable us to teletransport - scramble our bodies and reassemble them in another location - just like the crew of the Enterprise. It could be useful for many reasons - just think about the possibilities…! Harry Potter had an Invisibility Cloak, which would be great for those times when you commit a social faux pas and wish the earth would open and swallow you up - or maybe when the taxman or auditor comes a callin'. Scientists are working on invisibility cloak technology - which could come in handy for politicians who feel compelled to make public apologies for their indiscretions - or the annoying ones who constantly dodge the tricky questions. Some surgical patients have claimed to remember leaving their bodies whilst under anaesthesia during operations. Unfortunately, none of them have got any further than the ceiling or corner of the room - where they witness the gory goings-on involving their body. If only we could whistle for a celestial taxi from that corner in the ceiling and go off to an exotic beach. We could leave our swollen and bruised bodies to the painful recovery process in the care of professionals and return when all is well and functioning again. Sort of like taking the car in for a service and using a courtesy car to go off for lunch and a spot of shopping with a friend. Well, who knows what might be possible in the future. We didn't know electricity existed before someone discovered it - and it had been there all the time! Not so long ago no one would have believed it possible for ordinary people (albeit those with plenty of cash) to climb aboard a rocket ship and blast themselves into zero gravity. Technology has raced ahead in the last few decades at breathtaking speed. Those lucky enough to be able to afford a trip with Virgin Galactic will have a taste of an 'out of body experience' of a kind - at least a few minutes of weightlessness - when they can forget that they are still trapped in their bodies. We have a virtual world readily available at our fingertips these days with computer technology. Just a few taps on the keyboard and we can travel with Google Earth or observe the heavens with Google Sky. We can be virtual tourists on a virtual earth, have a virtual relationship, or stay at home in a virtual garden with our virtual pet! Coming back to reality, if you have to make do with your annual earthly holiday in Spain and get there and back on the budget airlines then, hey, we shouldn't take for granted how easy air travel has become. Until we learn how to master astral travel - or Dr. Who-style time travel becomes a reality - we are stuck with the reality and annoyances of modern-day air travel. Maybe in our future we will need travel insurance to cover time warps. In the meantime, if getting to our dream destinations means crowded airports, delays and long queues - at least we have travel insurance to cover most mortal mishaps!

Title: How To Distiguish Between Astral Projection And Lucid Dreaming?
|
|
With Astral Projection you get into the Astral Plane direct from your physical body. When you have a Lucid Dream, you have simply 'missed' the initial projection. They are just two different ways of entering the Astral Realm. In either case you are still conscious in the Astral, however, as there are degrees of lucidity in dreaming, you may or may not be fully in control of your experience. But this is highly unlikely in an Astral Projection. There is still a difference, whether more slight or obvious. The difference arises mostly because of the framework you are entering from. If you project from the waking state, you may encounter some difficulties due to restrictive ideas carried with you that don't apply to the Astral, and require some practice to adjust to the new environment. On the other hand, in a Lucid Dream, having accustomed to the expansiveness of the dream state, you can sometimes have the opposite problem, finding it hard to retain a conscious focus, and thus 'losing lucidity'. With practice of course, both of these will be overcome. However, knowing this distinction can be helpful when choosing our experience. In one sense, when we are Lucid Dreaming we are within the 'creative state', and it is easier to consciously create what we desire. And in Astral Projection it is probably more productive to explore the other realities that already exist, relatively unhampered by specific desires for self-fulfillment. There is some contention between defining the difference between Lucid Dreaming and Projection. It is not a matter of clarity or vividness as some people suggest, though typically Lucid Dreams will seem more substantial and realistic at least to begin with. But either experience can be poorly or highly developed. Having already distinguished Etheric Projection and Astral Projection, there remains a factor that does provide a feasible distinction. This determining factor is memory. While there are no hard and fast rules, typically, in an Astral Projection you remember who you are, and there is a continuity of memory from waking through to projection. But in a Lucid Dream, this is not always the case. You can be consciously aware without fully remembering your identity, and there is often no continuity from the waking state, nor memory of what preceded the experience of becoming lucid. There is also the term 'OOBE'. These Out of Body Experiences are just that. You, your consciousness, is out of your physical body. Again, these can be spontaneous episodes (not consciously called for) or intentional ones. As mentioned earlier, the term is often used instead of Etheric Projection. Or it can be used for an 'unconscious' separation or even for an Astral Projection, but again it is not the most helpful term. An 'OOBE' may or may not lead to experiences in the Astral Plane beyond the Etheric. This is the distinction I like to make anyway, as it really does avoid confusion. A Near Death Experience (NDE) is a type of OOBE that is brought about when a person survives a close brush with death. It generally occurs during accidents or acute illness. Technically speaking it is an Etheric Projection, as when a person's body is near death, a large amount of etheric matter is channelled into the astral body in preparation for the death process. People often report seeing their life flash before them during an NDE. Many people also experience travelling inside a dark tunnel towards a light and/or floating over their physical body, aware of what is happening in real-time. This pattern is unaltered by a person's culture or belief system, religion, race, education, or any other known variable. The massive amount of research on NDEs constitutes the most scientific proof that consciousness survives bodily death. A Gallup survey estimates that more than 8 million Americans have had NDEs. It is no wonder that after having an NDE, most people develop a strong belief in life after death. Fortunately, we don't need to experience an N-D-E to have O-O-B-E. That would really S-U-C-K. (Of course that doesn't stand for anything, it's just these capital letters can really get out of hand. J) Projectors learn to consciously have an experience without needing to undergo life-or-death situations (unlike in the movie Flatliners, which is an interesting example of this. Check it out sometime.) Far more convenient really!

Title: Where And What Is An ''Astral Plane''?
|
|
Very basically put, the Astral Plane is the dream dimension, but at the same time it is not just that. It would be more accurate to say the dream dimension is part of the Astral. From another perspective, the Astral is like a huge mind net, catching and holding all thoughts, memories, fantasies, and dreams of every living thing in the world (and all other worlds for that matter.) In short, its contents are created by the collective consciousness of the universe, and you could say 'exploring the Astral' is almost another way of saying we are 'exploring the inner mind of the universe'. "All of the dreams people have form a mass dream framework. Dreams exist at other levels, and physically of course affect the body state. In such ways, the world's actions are worked out in mass dream communications that are at the same time public and private." - Seth, Dreams, ‘Evolution’ and Value Fulfillment p.252 That gives us some idea of what is meant by the 'Astral Plane', but again this is just the beginning of an answer. In answering this question more fully, it is going to be very helpful to first quote Seth on his answer to the question "what is a plane?": "A plane is not necessarily a planet. A plane may be one planet, but a plane may also exist where no planet is. One planet may have several planes. Planes may also involve various aspects of time. Planes can and do intermix without the knowledge of inhabitants. A plane may be a time... or only one iota of vitality that exists by itself. A plane may cease to be. A plane is formed for entities as patterns for fulfillment along various lines. It is a climate conducive to the development of unique and particular capabilities and achievements... An isolation of elements." -Seth, Seth, Dreams and Projections in Consciousness p.103 Oh, that clears it up then... I think... Well, let's say, when we talk about the Astral Plane, we are really referring to the combination of all the planes that exist on an Astral vibratory level, and this encompasses an infinite variation of 'realities', 'realms', 'sub-planes' or 'rings'. It may be easier to think of these as 'real dreams'. We can take note however that on all Astral levels, consciousness is clothed in some form or other, whereas on 'higher' planes this is not necessarily the case. So is there an exact location to the Astral Plane? No, not really, since all levels and vibrations of reality exist and penetrate all at once. We may as well ask if there is an exact location to the entire physical universe...? Doesn't make much sense, does it? In relation to what? Instead, the Physical, Etheric, Astral, Mental and higher planes all 'interpenetrate'. It is more accurate to say that we 'tune in' and 'tune out' of the Astral with our consciousness, it is a 'within-ness' to things, but it is always 'there'. To follow this analogy, we can consider that it's a bit like radio or TV stations. All the frequencies that these are broadcast on exist at once in the atmosphere, but we only perceive one at a time depending on what we are 'tuned in' to. Only in the case of the Astral, it is our consciousness that is doing the tuning. So the whole range of frequencies we call 'Astral', not 'radio' or 'TV', and the different 'stations' we call 'sub-planes' or 'rings' or 'levels of reality'. Or we can use a travel analogy. You take it on faith all the countries of the world exist, even though you've not been to them, and you can travel to any one of them. In a similar way all the Astral Realms exist at once. By going to another country, your focus - you - is there, for however long. Astral Travel is similar, the difference being of course that it is a non-physical 'place' you are focussing in. But we may well ask, does the Astral (and other dimensions for that matter) exist as consciousness within us or as worlds outside of us? And to make it all nicely trickier, the answer is both. Consider, if you and a friend both memorized the same poem you found in the library, would the poem exist within you, within him or outside of you both? As with many spiritual questions, all answers are correct, but either in isolation is technically 'false' because incomplete. It is the same for the Astral Plane. It's frequencies exist both outside of you and within you. You might even say it's like an 'inner world that you are within'. To turn the question around, inside and outside are relative to your perspective, just as up and down are too. You can equally say that you experience physicality when you are 'inside' your physical body as you can say the physical is the experience 'outside' of the Astral and other dimensions. And vice versa. Since it is a matter of perspective, all answers are 'true', relative to where you are. Well, so much for words! Hopefully have some kind of picture now of what is meant by the Astral.

Title: Astral Projection From A Historical Perspective
|
|
Astral Projection is as natural as being human, and probably as old as our existence on this planet. References to OOBE are evidenced throughout human history. Across cultures, socio-economic strata, languages, genders, religions, nationalities and civilizations.
From the most ancient tribal societies to the modern civilized societies of the 21st century, human beings have recorded the departure and subsequent return of a subtle body from the physical body. All such recordings have a remarkably high degree of consistency in describing the many different aspects of the phenomenon, thus giving us an idea of the universal character of this capacity of leaving the body.
Dean Sheils compared the beliefs of over 60 different cultures by referring to special files kept for anthropological research. Of 54 cultures 25 (or 46%) claimed that most or all people could travel outside the physical body under certain conditions. A further 23 (or 43%) claimed that a few of their number were able to do so, and only three cultures expressed no belief in anything of this nature.
From this evidence, we can conclude that some form of a belief in out-of-body experiences is very common in various cultures.
Some Eastern religions include specific doctrines on the abilities of other bodies and the nature of other worlds.
Early evidence of the OOBE appeared in ancient Egypt between 3,000 and 5,000 years ago. The Egyptian priests were aware of the existence of the astral body and they called it the Ka. The Ka could wander about at will. It was independent of the man and could go and dwell in any statue of him. The early Egyptians left inscriptions and drawings on walls of temples and buildings. These inscriptions clearly depict the human soul abandoning the physical body.
The Tibetans believed in the Bardo body, which could leave the physical body while still alive and it could be directed by will. It was believed to be an exact duplicate of the human body, from which it is separated in the process of death.
According to them, the Bardo body is made of psychic material, invisible and etheric. Due to its nature, this body is able to pass through matter, which is only solid and impenetrable to the senses.
The Tibetan Book of the Dead is used as a funeral ritual, and is read out as a guide to the recently deceased. It contains an elaborate description of the moment of death and the stages of mind experienced by the deceased.
Ancient Greeks believed in a Double body, which housed the soul. References to OOBE later appeared in Greece through the writings of a number of philosophers including Plato, Herodotus and Hermotimus of Clazomene.
Plato believed that what we see in this life is only a part of what the spirit could see if it were free from the physical. Chained in a gross physical body, the spirit is fettered; separated from that body; it can converse freely with the spirits of the departed, and see things more clearly.
Aristotle, Homer and Plotinus taught that the spirit could leave the body and that it is capable of communicating with other spirits. They believed that all souls could be separated from their physical bodies. This 'doctrine of the subtle body' runs through Western tradition.
In Christianity there are references to a spiritual body. Some religious works can be seen as preparing the soul for its transition at death. Cases of conscious projections are also well documented even in the Bible, for example in Ezekiel III: 14; the Apocalypse of John 1:10-11 and 4:2; and in the Epistles of Paul of Tarsus, e.g., II Corinthians 12:2.
During the Middle Ages, OOBE was studied and practiced secretly. Information gathered was not made available to the general population. This need for secrecy contributed to the fabrication of various myths and untruths about the dangers of Astral travel that persist even today.
The phenomenon of the out-of-body experience therefore is ancient and universal. We can see that different persons throughout history had experienced this, independent of culture, education, financial situation, religion, credo, sex, or age.
From this historical perspective, and from studies and personal experience of thousands of people, the most solid conclusion that can be drawn is that human beings are more than just their physical bodies. When one experiences a conscious OOBE, one has irrefutable evidence that the physical body is merely a temporary "house" through which one's consciousness or awareness manifests in the physical dimension.

Title: 20 Astral Projection Myths Busted!
|
|
There are a lot of misconceptions about Astral Projection floating around online and offline. Let us go through some of the common ones, and throw some light on them.
Myth 1 : Astral Projection is very rare. Truth : Astral Projection is a very common phenomenon indeed. 5% to 10% of the world's population has experienced a conscious Out of body experience at least once. This means around 6 million in the U.K or as much as 30 million in the United States.
Myth 2 : Astral Projection is always spontaneous. You cannot learn it. Truth : Yes, you can learn to Astral Project at will. There are countless techniques that teach you how to have an OOBE. Since every individual is different, no particular technique is best for everybody. You have to find out which method is best for you. Just like anything in life, you have to practice and get good at it.
Myth 3 : Not everyone can learn to Astral Project. It is only for a selected few. Truth :Yes, anyone can Astral Project. But it requires some practice, consistency and open-mindedness. Just like you learn to walk, ride a bicycle or swim, Astral Projection is a skill you need to learn.
Myth 4 : Only adults can Astral Project because they are more matured. Truth : Not at all. Age is never a factor for Astral Projection. It's a fact that children Astral Project more than adults. The reason is that children are innocent and they believe everything is possible. So they achieve Astral Projection more easily.
But we adults do not believe everything easily. The sooner we can be open-minded and start believing, the easier it would be to Project. But age, in itself, is never a roadblock for Projection. The only hindrance is your level of belief.
Myth 5 : Astral Projection is not safe. Truth : Astral Projection is a natural experience reported in every culture and society of the world. It is safe for most people. But anyone who has acute psychological problems should avoid it.
Myth 6 : It takes several years to achieve a conscious Astral Projection. Truth : Since every individual is different, no one can guarantee how long it can take. Some achieve it in the first try and others do not achieve it even in two years! But if tried consistently, about 30 days is a fair enough time to experience at least one projection.
Myth 7 : It is possible that you may not be able to get back into the physical body. Truth : You see, every night when we sleep, our Astral body is out of our physical body. We are just not conscious about it. During Astral Projection, we are aware of the fact that we're in another dimension. Since after every night's sleep we can easily get back into the body, we can do the same after Astral Projection too
The surprising fact is that it is difficult to stay out of the body. Getting back into your body is instant and automatic. Your Astral Body is connected to your physical body by a Silver Cord, which ensures that you can always get back in
Myth 8 : You can get possessed during Astral Projection. Truth : This is a very common question in most people's minds. No. There is no danger of you being possessed by other entities. Your Astral Body is attached to your physical body by a Silver Cord. No one else can sever it and enter your body.
Myth 9 : Astral Projection changes a person's religious beliefs. Truth : Published in 1992, there was an in-depth study of 350 participants done by Dr.Melvin Morse. According to that study, Out-of-body experiences did not seem to alter one's religious beliefs. In fact, most people reported that their religious beliefs have been confirmed and strengthened by their out-of-body experiences.
Myth 10 : You cannot go very far when out of the body? Truth : There is no limit defined as to how far you can go away from the physical body. But it is important to note that there are certain areas that you do not readily have access to unless you have spiritually graduated to those areas. There are several planes apart from the Astral Plane. You cannot visit a higher vibratory plane in a lower vibratory body.
Myth 11 : There is no cord that connects the Astral and the Physical bodies. Truth : There is definitely a Silver Cord that connects the two bodies. You may or may not be able to see it, but it is always there. Even the Bible talks about it.
Through the Silver Cord, transference of energy takes place and it gives life to the physical. As long as the person is alive, this cord is intact. It can be likened to the umbilical cord attaching a child to the mother.
Myth 12 : Other Astral entities sever the Silver Cord. Truth : No. The Silver Cord cannot be severed by anyone. This only happens when the hour of death has arrived to a person and that comes by law.
Myth 13. The Astral Plane is full of dangerous negative entities Truth : Yes, there are negative entities in the Astral Plane but they are not dangerous. They can do no harm to you in any way.
Remember, in the Astral, your thoughts have power. If you don't like something, you can always change them into something you want. By not being afraid, you can make these entities vanish or turn them into something more pleasant.
If any of these entities do scare you, at the most you will slump back in your physical.
Many of these negative entities are self-created. They are nothing but manifestations of our own fears that appear as thought-forms. In order to avoid bumping into any of these entities, you should attempt Projection in a good mood. The rule in the Astral Plane is: Like attracts like. If you are in a negative or bad mood, you will attract negative thought-forms. But if you Project with positive and loving thoughts, you will most likely attract positive and loving entities.
Myth 14 : When a person wakes up after Projection, he feels really tired. Truth : During Astral Projection, the physical body sleeps normally, so when you wake up, you feel very refreshed.
Myth 15 : We cannot touch objects in the Astral. Truth : Yes, you can touch and feel Astral objects on the Astral, just as you can touch physical ones in the Physical Plane. But in the Astral, under normal circumstances, you cannot touch Physical objects. If you attempt, your hand will pass right through it. That's why you have heard that your Astral body can pass through walls!
Myth 16 : It is necessary to be good at visualization. Truth : Visualization is not a necessary ingredient for Projection. But if the Projector can increase his ability to visualize it will help him progress faster.
Myth 17 : Drugs be used to help induce Projection Truth : Some kinds of Drugs do induce projection. But I do not recommend any kinds of drugs because they harm your Astral vehicle.
The key to a productive out-of-body experience is complete control and control is the first thing lost when you use any kind of mind-altering substance. Drugs curtail your spiritual growth. They take you to the lower Astral Plane full of confusion and disorientation. It is dull, gloomy, and full of negative energy. The lower Astral is very unlike the vibrant, progressive, positive Astral we are seeking to achieve.
Why contaminate the biological vehicle when effective results can be achieved naturally? Don't put your body at risk. If there is real desire to experience Astral Projection then that desire, along with consistent practice will get you there.
Myth 18 : It is impossible to meet with other human beings during Projection Truth : That's not true. It is possible to meet other human beings. But if you want to talk them meaningfully, they should be conscious. If we find them and they are dreaming they will look drunk! They may not recognize us but later when they awake, they may remember seeing us in a dream.
Myth 19 : When we are Astral Projecting, by taking the name of a friend, say "John", by mistake we can visit some other person by the same name "John". Truth : In the Astral, your thoughts are the key to where you want to go. Your higher self knows whom you want to visit and take you to the correct person. Here, the name of the person doesn't matter at all. Since you are thinking of that person, you will reach there.
Myth 20 : Astral projection doesn't prove life after death. Truth : People, who have experienced proper conscious OOBE even once, start to strongly believe in life after death. Finding themselves outside their physical bodies and still functioning, still able to see, hear, touch, even smell and taste, still able to do everything and more, how can anyone deny that life goes on?

Title: The Astral Plane And Its Divisions
|
|
The Astral Plane is very real, seeming much more solid and vibrant than the Physical world. It's a world without any need for money, work or any of the other trappings of a physical existence.
Those who have visited the Astral planes find themselves in an environment where all senses seem greatly magnified. These senses are not our normal physical senses, but inner astral senses.
Thoughts can actually be seen to take shape instantly and anything desired can be instantly manifested by means of the powers of the imagination in the very process of creation. This is also why the Astral worlds are known as the "desire worlds" and the Astral body known as the "desire body". This fact that Man creates with his thoughts and feelings in the Astral world shows the truth in the occult statement that Man is a "god in the making". It shows that we can be supremely creative.
Once you are out in the Astral plane, you will find that it vibrates at a much higher frequency than the Physical plane. There is no gravity on the Astral plane. Time and space are distorted as compared to the Physical. As a result, time can pass differently than in the physical.
Here, thought plays an integral part, and simply imagining something in the Astral can cause it to form. Since this is where all of our hopes, desires, and dreams can essentially become reality, the Astral plane is also known as the emotional plane.
In the Astral plane there is no need for food, clothing, shelter and sleep. We have true freedom. It is our will that sustains and heals us, and our will that creates the realm in our image. The Astral planes are made of focused mental energy. In the spirit world thoughts create reality, and we frequently create what we are familiar with.
Divisions Of The Astral Plane : The Astral Plane is divided into Lower, Middle, and Higher. Each division contains multiple divisions of varying vibratory rates.
The Lower Astral Planes : Are described as darker more primal realms. Some have described them as the place of Dante's inferno while others think of them as purgatory. They are where the souls of the lost reside. Residing here are many beings including people who are out-of-body, both consciously and sub-consciously, people who are dreaming, the deceased, and even beings that never existed on the Physical Plane at all. Communication with all of the above is possible while Projected.
The Middle Astral Planes : Are the realms of divine inspiration free of earthly desires and conflict. The beings in these dimensions cause many of the artistic and technical breakthroughs on Earth by sending silent messages to its inhabitants. This is the place where many of us journey for guidance and healing. These realms are frequently a reflection of the world we live in now. They contain the same vegetation, animals, and even our own created structures.
The Middle Astral is a plane full of rainbows of vivid colors and exquisite beauty. It would be an impossible task to try and rationalize this place. This plane is full of thoughts, dreams, and ideas, which are manifested as real objects. Everything including inanimate objects has auras of energy emanating from them in vivid and bright colors. Time here is very distorted and it is possible to see future or past events.
People who have successfully consciously projected to Middle Astral Planes have described unseen colors and sounds, breathtaking landscapes and scenery, and even some things beyond our comprehension. This place is purer in its formation. The needs and the strife associated with the Physical world have been left behind. It is a place of peace and utter bliss - one might go as far as to compare it to the Garden of Eden.
The Higher Astral Planes : Are the realms called Heaven by Christians, the Summerland by spi | | |
