10 Best Skin Care Tips

Healthy skin is truly one of the most important ingredients for beauty-enhancement. This article on skin care tips is an effort to bring the 10 best skin care tips to you. The list of skin care tips has been restricted to 10 because anything more that that would not only be difficult to remember, but also shadow the more important skin care tips. So let’s see what these top ten skin care tips are: 1) Knowing your skin type is one of the most important skin care tip. This is important because not every skin care product suits everyone. In fact, all the skin care products specify the type of skin they cater too. 2) ‘Drink a lot of water’. This will not keep your skin moist but will help in overall upkeep of your health (and in turn your skin). It might seem a bit awkward to some, however, this is an important skin care tip. 3) Cleanse your skin regularly (1-2 times everyday). A very effective skin care tip that helps in getting rid of the dirt and other harsh elements from your skin. Cleansing is especially important when you have been out of your house (and hence exposed to pollutants, dust etc). This skin care tip also advocates the use of Luke warm water for cleansing (hot and cold water, both, cause damage to your skin) 4) Be gentle, after all it’s your skin. Don’t scrub/exfoliate too hard or too often. Similarly, don’t apply too much or too many skin care products. A must-to-follow skin care tip. 5) Keep your skin moist at all times. This is one of the most important skin care tip. Don’t let your skin get dry. Dryness causes the outer layer of your skin to break, leading to a rough and unattractive appearance. Use moisturisers/ emollients. Moisturisers work best when applied while the skin is still damp. 6) Avoid the use of soap on your face. Soap should only be used from below the neck. A small but important skin care tip. 7) Use sunscreen to protect yourself from sun’s harmful UV radiations. You can use day-time moisturisers that have sunscreen built into them. Use them even when it’s cloudy. UV radiations are known to cause skin cancer, so follow this skin care tip without fail. 8) A bit of exercise and good sleep are essential too, not just for skin care but for your health as a whole. Lack of sleep can lead to formation of wrinkles below your eyes and lack of exercise can cause your skin to slack. Moreover, exercise and sleep also help in beating stress. So besides being a skin care tip, this is also a health care tip. 9) Treat skin dilemmas with care. This skin care tip is about not ignoring any skin dilemmas. Consult your dermatologist before you go on to use a skin care product (lest you do end up harming your skin even more). 10) Beat the stress. The harmful effects of stress are known to everyone, however, sometimes stating the obvious is essential too (and hence this skin care tip found its place here). Yes, stress harms skin too. So, take a break or indulge in a warm bubble bath or just get good sleep.

Quick Skin Care Tips - Taking Care of Your Skin

Francis Adam 2007-11-04
Title: Quick Skin Care Tips - Taking Care of Your Skin
Here we show you tips on how to properly care for your skin, from the right way to wash your face, to the best moisturizers and UV protection. Skin is the largest organ of our body. With proper skin care, we can, not only keep it healthy but also keep it looking young for a longer time. Skin care tips are another easy way to gradually improve your quality of life. If you understand what makes a good skin care product, you can shop smartly the next time you're at the drugstore, and see an improvement without even adding extra products to your daily routine. Appropriate use of moisturizers or certain ingredients can slow down aging, increase the glow of your skin, and combat blotches and blemishes. You should at least eat five servings of fruit and vegetable everyday to cleanse the body of toxins that may affect your metabolism. Vitamin E is an antioxidant that can help prevent free radical damage to the skin.

Oily skin requires the opposite approach - instead of putting an emphasis on nourishing, you should focus on removing excess oil from it, hydrating, cleaning enlarged pores, and preventing or treating acne. Wash your skin about 2-3 times a day, but use a mild soap only once a day, because otherwise oil glands will be stimulated to produce even more sebum. Use only non-greasy moisturisers and tone your face often with alcohol-free herbal tonics or ice cubes, which will restore the health and balance of your skin. The best masks for oily skin are those featuring drying and hydrating ingredients, for example, clay, papaya, or yogurt. Apply once a week and make sure to rinse your face thoroughly with cool water after about 20 minutes. In case of acne, remove sugar and other carbohydrates from your diet and make sure not to eat any processed foods.

Focus on Moisturizer

There is no way around it; you have to increase your use of moisturizer in the winter months. Exposure to cold air literally robs your skin of its natural healing ability, and this leads to dryness, flaking, and cracking. You will need a three-step moisturizing process to maintain healthy skin in these conditions. First, use a gentle body soap that is designed to provide moisturizers. Follow this by applying body lotion after your shower to lock in moisture. Finally, invest in a good facial moisturizer that is free of fragrances and other unnecessary additives. Apply this immediately after anytime you wash your face.

Skin Care Tips

1. Avoid getting cold sores in the first place by not sharing stuff like lip balm, toothbrushes, or drinks with other people who might have cold sores. The virus that causes cold sores is transmitted through the nose (in mucus) and the mouth (in saliva).

2. Wear sunscreen. Apply SPF 15 in the winter and use a higher SPF sunscreen if you're vacationing on the slopes or at the beach.

3. An Apple a Day - Have an apple, skin on, as a snack.

4. Vitamin B helps keep your skin tone healthy.

5. If you wear makeup, look for brands that are free of dyes and fragrances that can aggravate eczema.

6. Facial treatment that is very helpful for those with oily skin.

7. Remove your makeup before you go to sleep. When buying makeup, make sure you choose brands that say "noncomedogenic" or "nonacnegenic" on the label. Throw away old makeup that smells or looks different from when you first bought it.

8. We all know that the sun can damage skin, but did you know it can contribute to eye problems, too? Protect your face and eyes with a hat and sunglasses that provide 100% UV protection.

9. Cold water fish - Sardines are a good source of essential fats. Salmon is another good source, however these salmon accumulate toxic polychlorinated biphenyls (otherwise known as PCBs) in their body fat during the 95 percent of their lives they spend at sea.

10. Protect your lips. Lips can be especially prone to dryness because the skin there does not have oil glands. Do not lick your lips to hydrate them. Instead, use a petroleum- or beeswax-based lip balm. Read out Makeup tips. Also check out for home remedies and skin care tips

Title: Professional Skin Care Tips According To Your Skin Type

That is why so many beauty treatments and products are widely available today to meet the increasing demand of beauty fanatics for means that can give or help them maintain their young and gorgeous skin.

However, beauty treatments and products do not always have the same effect on women and men. In fact, finding the best skin care treatment and product may take time. Skin experts also recommend the use of treatments and products based on a person’s skin type.

The five skin types, which are normal, oily, sensitive, dry, and combination of dry and oily skin, require proper skin care recommendations, as each type has different reactions with various skin enhancement treatments and products.

Below are professional skin care recommendations for each type of skin conditions that will best guide beauty-conscious individuals on choosing which beauty tips, treatments, and products will work best for their skin type:

1. Dry skin
When your skin is dry, it basically needs a lot of thorough care, for it is very sensitive to irritation, facial lines, and flaking. You should focus on keeping your face properly moisturized. Skin care products containing natural ingredients are the highly recommended product treatments for dry skin. Perfect examples of these natural skin care products are the ones with extra-virgin, coconut oil, and shea butter ingredients.

Washing the face with herbal infusion and cleansing milk is a better way of cleaning the face instead of using tap water. Remember that your dry skin will look smoother and healthier if proper care and maintenance are practiced.

2. Oily skin
Oily skin needs to be frequently hydrated and oil free. If you happen to have an oily skin, you must wash your face at least two to three times a day. Regular treatments for acne are also a must. As for recommended skin care products, a mild soap and moisturizer are perfect for oily skin. Masks are also great moisturizing options for their hydrating and drying ingredients. It is best to apply such facial mask once or twice a week to keep the face well hydrated.

3. Normal skin
Lucky are those gifted with normal skin as it is the least problematic type. However, a normal skin feature still needs to be regularly moisturized, nourished, and cleansed. Top recommended treatment for natural skin is washing the face with rose water or an alcohol-free astringents. Moisturizers for this type of skin condition should be mild and non-greasy. Always wash your face before going to bed, using a mild soap, then finishing it off with a nourishing cream.

4. Sensitive skin
A sensitive skin is probably the most complicated skin type. It needs constant and thorough care as it is always irritated and dry. If you have a sensitive skin, maintain a steady consumption of yogurt, protein, and fatty acids.

5. Combination skin
Having a combination skin type is difficult to manage as it requires two different skin care approaches. Properly maintaining skin care regimen for both dry and oily skin types is necessary to keep a healthy and smooth skin feature.

Tips For Make Up And Skin Care

Melissa Rice 2007-08-31
Title: Tips For Make Up And Skin Care
‘Make up and skin care’ is generally regarded as women’s forte. Men seldom indulge in ‘Make up and skin care’. Many men do care for their skin but make up is really alien to most men. Treating make up and skin care as different topics wouldn’t make sense; after all, make up will work only if the skin is healthy. So how do you exercise make up and skin care, together? Here are some tips for make up and skin care:

* Always have skin care on mind, whether you are buying products for make up or actually applying them onto your skin after you have bought them. So what you are buying is a ‘make up and skin care’ product, not just a make up product. Check the ingredients to see if it contains things that you might be allergic to. Also check if it contains high concentration chemicals that can harm your skin.

* ‘Make up and skin care’ is also about testing the products before using them. So, apply the make up on a small patch of skin e.g. earlobes and check how your skin reacts to it.

* Keep track of expiry date on your make up products and never use them beyond the expiry date. In fact some products (e.g. vitamin C based products), if not stored properly, get spoilt much earlier than the expiry date.

* Cleanliness is an important part of make up and skin care procedure. Sharpen your eye-liners regularly and keep all your makeup equipment clean at all times. You might fix a date, each month, for overhauling of your equipment. As part of cleanliness, your make up and skin care procedure should also include keeping your hair clean at all times.

* Nail care is another important aspect of make up and skin care. Use a good quality nail polish and always keep your nails clean. Once you are done with cleaning and polishing your nails, you should rub in cuticle oil at the edges of the nail.

* If you have deep-set eyes, you should use a liquid eye liner instead of a pencil one. This will prevent smudging at the deep edges of your eye-lid.

* If you have a skin disorder e.g. acne, you should not apply heavy or chemical based make up. Consult your dermatologist if you are not sure about the make up products that you can use while you have acne or other skin disorder. Never try to squeeze pimples/ acne. Remember that make up and skin care should not conflict each other.

* Use a mild make up remover (instead of just washing it away).

* Another important ‘make up and skin care’ procedure is the following golden rule: “Never sleep with your make up on”

* While applying a deodorant, make sure that you maintain the recommended distance between the nozzle and your skin (as mentioned on the deodorant pack).

So, make up and skin care should always go hand in hand. Do not try to treat make up and skin care differently.

Dry Skin And Dry Skin Care

Dave Mcevoy 2007-03-18
Title: Dry Skin And Dry Skin Care
If you have dry skin, you already know that you need dry skin care tips that actually work. Not only is dry skin uncomfortable with its tightness, but it’s also embarrassing when your skin is flaking and looks rough. However, many causes of dry skin are not due to problems with your skin or the way that you take care of it. According to Skin Care Campaign’s website, somewhere between fifteen and twenty percent of a general practitioner’s patient load comes from skin diseases that have nothing to do with the patient’s ability to care for their skin. Does this sound like you?

Possible causes of dry skin

The truth is that dry skin care is generally a reactionary process. You feel tightness, you itch – you try to find something to make these feelings go away. However, knowing the causes of your dry skin can help to make the proper choices or seek medical attention when needed. Dry skin can be caused by the following things:

•Eczema – This skin irritation is a condition in which the skin does not perform its necessary duties of protecting the skin’s elasticity and ability to block out bacteria and other irritants. This leads to cracking and peeling of the skin, however, the cause is not generally agreed upon.

•Psoriasis – This is another condition in which the skin is unable to turn over cells in an appropriate manner, leading to dryness and flakiness of the skin’s appearance and feel. Again, the cause for this is unknown.

•Contact dermatitis – This can include a wide range of causes, making it difficult to narrow down the exact irritant. This condition occurs when you touch something and then your skin reacts to it. You might have an adverse reaction that causes a serious medical reaction or you may just notice itching and dryness. This can also be a short term affliction or one that is longer term. Common irritants are: poison ivy, poison oak, sumac, chemicals, toxins, etc.

•Environmental conditions – Others find that blowing winds or lowered humidity conditions can also lead to dry skin, typically in the cooler months.

•Lack of moisture in the body – When someone does not drink enough water, they can also suffer from dry skin. Of course, there are some medical conditions in which the body is more prone to dehydration and thus dry skin conditions.

•Heredity – And then there are some that suffer from dry skin because that’s just how their skin reacts when it’s in the world.

Symptoms of dry skin and diagnosing your skin’s condition

Dry skin seems to be fairly simple enough to diagnose. The common symptoms are:

•Callouses
•Dryness
•Flakiness
•Cracks and fissures in skin
•Redness
•Chapped skin
•Soreness
•Raw feeling
•Tightness

To determine whether or not you need dry skin care, you can look for these signs or you can also do a test to see what kind of skin you have.

Start by washing your face as you normally do in the morning, patting it down with a towel when you are done. But instead of applying any other lotions that you normally would, wait for about twenty minutes. When you are done, look at your skin and see where the dry patches are. If you do not see any, chances are good that you don’t have dry skin. But if you have dryness and flakiness in areas, you will need to work on dry skin care options.

Caring for this dry skin

Of course, the main concern that women and men with dry skin have is how to treat it. With more than one in four people reporting dry skin, it’s imperative to create a full plan of attack against the irritating dryness and possible infection from itching and scratching.

Here are some simple steps that you can use when devising a dry skin care routine:

•Drink more water each day
•Make sure to eat a balanced diet that includes some healthy fats
•Wash the face only twice a day
•Use gentle, soap free cleansers
•Wash with warm water, never hot
•Apply a moisturiser to slightly damp skin immediately after washing to seal in moisture
•Try a night time moisturiser to help with severe dryness
•For the body, apply a thick emollient to the skin before bed as well as immediately following a bath when your skin is still damp
•Try water based moisturisers at first, switching to oil based lotions when they aren’t working

However, if these basic steps aren’t helping your dry skin, you may want to talk to your general practitioner about prescriptions that might be able to help you. You might also have an underlying medication condition that is being indicated by your dry skin – and that will need to be addressed by more than just dry skin care.

One of the key enemies of the skin is sun. So, proper skin care is to be taken avoid unwanted exposure to sunlight. When a person going out without proper skin care he is risking himself of having skin diseases, one of which is the dreaded skin cancer.

So to maintain the healthy, youthful glow of one's skin, it is essential to understand the bad effects of the sun's ultraviolet or UV rays.

Effects Of Sun Rays

UV Rays

The UV-A and UV-B rays can penetrate through clouds, thick layers of glass, a meter of water, and the layers of the skin. UV-B makes the top layers of skin to release chemicals that permit the expansion of blood vessels and cause some fluid to leak, resulting to inflammation, pain and redness known as sunburn.

Approximately in 15 minutes the damage can occur and can continue to worsen for up to 72 hours after sun exposure. In this process, the damaged skin cells will die and shed off in sheets or pictures. Peeling is the process in which the body disposes of dead skin cells.

UV-A rays are the rays that get into the deeper skin layers. UV-A rays affect the living skin cells under the surface of the skin. Along with long-term damage such as sagging, wrinkles and discoloration, these rays also give way for the early stages of skin cancer.

The UV rays act like chain saws, shredding deep into the DNA found within the cell nuclei. In shortest period possible, the repair enzymes within the cell act by countering the damage done on the DNA chain.

This damage and repair happens at the same time and constantly with the tempo of the repair keeping up with the extent of damage being caused. But just like any other mechanism within the body, these repair enzymes have their limits and reaches the point that they can no longer work.

The enzymes cannot cope when the damage is too much. This results in a dismantled DNA structure, which changes the coding and leads to the abnormality of skin cells or what is termed as mutation.

This is the first stage of the formation of cancer cells. UV-rays also help in the formation of super-oxides, which are highly toxic chemicals that speeds up skin cell ageing.

People Who Are At Greater Risk To Skin Cancer

People who have already experienced three or more bad cases of sunburn before reaching the age of twenty and regular sunbathers who always crave for an instant tan have greater risks of acquiring the dreaded skin disease known as melanoma.

Cricketers, farmers, golf players and others, who have long exposure to the sun, have more tendencies to have milder forms of skin cancer.

Skin Care Tips

1. Vitamin D

Studies on skin care show that Vitamin D, with the help of exposure to sunlight, is what can help the body fight against skin cancer.

2. Sunscreen Lotions

It is recommended not to exposure to sunlight without sunscreen for more than 10 to 15 minutes at noon, when the sun is at its strongest.

3. Sun Protection Factor

It is recommended to use a sunscreen with an SPF or sun protection of 15 or higher.

4. Sensitive skin

It is also recommended to use a sunscreen lotion with SPF of 30 or stronger for people with sensitive skin and the older adults because their skin tends to burn more easily. People with allergies or sensitive skin should choose skin care products that are free of chemicals, dyes, preservatives, and alcohol.

5. Zinc Or Titanium Oxide

It is good to use a stronger sunscreen like zinc or titanium oxide when the sun exposure is high, as it will completely stop sunlight from reaching the skin.

6. Sunscreen Application

Sunscreen should be applied about half an hour before getting exposed into the sun and within every few hours reapplication should be done.

7. During Swimming

It is recommended to use water resistant sunscreen lotion to avoid sunburns during swimming as 98% of the sun's rays can pass through water.

I frequently have clients tell me...Barb, I have spent many hours in the sun, is there anything the product line you distribute do for me? My answer is...yes, there is alot it will do for your skin....but unfortunately, there is no product out there that can completely erase the countless hours soaking in the sun without the SPF. But, with this said...there are excellent preventative measures that you can take that will help you slow down the aging process.

Below are some skin care and rejuvenation tips to ensure that your skin remains healthy, vibrant, and wrinkle-free for longer that will, without a doubt, slow down skin aging.

Our skin starts showing the signs of aging even as early as our 20s. One can expect to start seeing fine lines, uneven skin texture, and dullness. So truly, one needs to start taking care of their skin from early on. You see, what is happening is our body's skin cellular renewal process is beginning to slow down and what this means is that the dead skin cells are as not as easily discarded, plus there are external factors are starting to have a greater impact, leaving our skin slightly duller.

Skin Care Tips For Your 20s

1. Avoid sunlight or Cover-Up

Up to 80 percent of skin aging is directly related to sun exposure. Penetrating UVA rays damage collagen fibers and elastin coils in your skin.

2. If you are a Smoker - Quit- Quit Now

Smoking inhibits oxygen from getting to the outer layer of your skin, which causes premature aging. Additionally, the motion of smoking over a long period of time can cause fine lines around your mouth. This is not an appealing look!

3. Start a daily skin care program

You should cleanse, moisturize and use SPF or SPF equivalent on a daily basis. It is also important to exfoliate 2-3 times a week to promote skin cellular renewal on a regular basis.

Skin Care Tips For Your 30 - And Beyond

By the time you reach your 30s, skin cell turnover has slowed down even more. Environmental factors pollution, smoke, and sunlight are at this point causing damage so that in the dermis, collagen fibers are beginning to loosen. This causes the skin to start losing its tone and develop fine lines and wrinkles. When we smile, subcutaneous fat forms ridges and refuse to bounce back as readily as it once did. Our first wrinkles may start to appear. Here are some additional skin care tips for keeping your skin healthy and slowing the aging process early:

1. Have a Daily Skin Care Routine

At this stage in life, you should have a daily skin care routine for your skin.

2. Skin Rejuvenation is Essential

Incorporate a cosmeceutical skin rejuvenation program into your daily skin care routine. What is key here is that you need to use products that will help you skin increase it's cellular renewal process, thereby getting rid of dead skin cells and promoting skin rejuvenation.

3. A balanced Diet is Key

Your diet should consist of fresh fruits, vegetables, grains and fish, as they are high in antioxidants and Vitamins A, B, C, and E. These vitamins counteract free radicals which help the skin repair itself and produce enzymes which stabilize collagen production and retain the skin’s moisture content. I know, I know..these are things our Mothers told tool and she was right!

4. Acohol Intake should be in Moderation

Alcohol actually deprives your skin of essential nutrients and may cause your facial blood vessels to become dilated. This can lead to permanent red “spider veins” on women’s cheeks and across the nose on men. Not a pretty site.

5. Remember to .... Hydrate! Hydrate! Hydrate

I can't emphasis this enough. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. This is the best way to retain the skin’s water, thus keeping skin feeling soft and looking supple
